It all started because of a stupid interview you had with an mega hyped motorsport podcast.

One of them asked you “So Y/n we all know that due to your job as an f1 journalist you are really close to the whole grid. But our listeners would probably like it if you would share who your fav is”

You chuckled at the question, knowing that this question has just one logical answer.

“Oh I could never choose one. I like them all really, they all have different personalities and I really enjoy spending time with them” you said politely.

The podcaster just looked at you and smirked, knowing that they had some proof which 2 drivers you are definitely more around.

“Oh really we have seen you many times around with Charles and Lando. These two are definitely up on your list right? They have also shared that they enjoy having you around or during post race interviews with you.” You laughed at their statement. “Really they said that? Wow I feel so special. Yes ok fine, Lando and Charles are definitely up there” you had to keep your big smile back thinking about them.

In reality Lando, Charles and you were extremely close. You 3 had your own post race traditions and made movies nights after each qualifying.

You liked hanging out with them you would even describe them as your best friends on the grid.

What you didn’t know was that Charles and Lando weren’t actually that close and played friends in front of you. Both being lovesick idiots for you. They both were desperate for your attention. Lando did not hate Charles but he despised the fact that Charles could be a perfect match for you.

Charles thought that Lando would be a good friend for you but he was too childish for you. Charles was convinced that he was the man you wanted.

You were sitting in Landon’s driver room because he wanted you to wait for him there after practice 1 ended. You scrolled through your phone and read some comments about your interview in the hyped motorsport podcast. Some people shipped you with Lando some said that you and Charles were definitely an endgame. You shook your head with a smile on your face. “Who got you smiling like that darling” a male voice said.

“God Lan you scared me” Lando chuckled at your words. “You didn’t answered my question” he started walking towards you and sat next to you on his couch. He took your phone knowing that you trusted him and he could see what got you smiling. You watched his face and analyzed his reaction.

“ I think they are right” he suddenly said and turned his head to look at you. “About what part? Shipping me and you or that Charles and I would be the perfect endgame” you teased him.

Landos eyes got smaller, jealousy started growing in him. “Don’t do that” you looked into his eyes. They looked like tears were forming. Did that made Lando emotional? His lips were in a tight line. He didn’t dared to speak out his thoughts. I like you y/n please don’t choose Charles.

You started deep in his eyes. Suddenly the room was filled with tension and hot air. You could feel the need to kiss him. Fuck no that wasn’t right, he was your best friend right?

You could answer your thoughts because in the next moment your phone vibrated.

“Yes” you picked it up still haven’t stopped the eye contact.

“Y/n it’s Charles where are you I have to see you mon amour” the monegasque said.

Landos eyes filled with more sadness but instead of saying anything he took your phone and answered Charles for you.

“Yo it’s Lan we will be there in a minute ok bye” and with that he ended the call. “That wasn’t very nice Lan” you laughed. “Who said I have to be nice all the time”

After 5 minutes you found Charles. He tried to overplay the feeling of jealousy that he felt every time when he saw you alone with Lando. “Hey Charlie” you said and hugged him. Charles and Landos eyes met during the hug. Charles smirked knowing that you were the only one that gave Charles that nickname. Landos blood boiled and his face couldn’t cover that he didn’t liked Charles hands on you.

But somehow you were always the only one who didn’t seem to see the behavior of both boys.

After the hug you 3 went to the cafeteria and ate some post race day snacks. Of course the boys choose something more healthier that fitted into their diet.

“I will use the restroom for a second if you’d excuse me” you said and left the boys alone.

“Did you have a great time with her in your driver room?” Charles asked with a raspy voice. Lando laughed because he nodded with a smirk on his face. “You know little Lando in the end it will always be me” Charles said confidently.

“And why would you think that” Lando laid back into his chair. “Because she already chose me” Charles said and emptied his drink.

“Did she?”

Do you make your bed?

Yes, it is an attempt I am actually allowed to call myself a functioning adult 😂.

What's your favourite number?

I don't have one, but my parents love the number 9, so I basically decided this is a family tradition now.

What is your job?

Nope, for one my job is actually not that easy to explain, even in person. Second, I don't share personal information on my public Tumblr account. My two Tumblr friends (you know who you are) can ask me though, in case they are interested.

If you could go back to school, would you?

Fun fact, ppl always assume I was an amazing student. I was not... sadly I am lazy AF, surprised I actually have a Master degree and I always hated studying. I am very much a learning -by-doing person.

Can you parallel park?

I mean, I have a driver license, so at one point I could 😝. Serious answer, I sold my car a couple of years ago, so I very rarely drive a car. Ask me again in September, as I have a road trip ahead of me then.

A job you had that would surprise people?

Mmh, nothing really comes to mind tbh. In terms of work I don't think I did anything particularly exciting.

Do you think aliens are real?

Are we alone in the universe? No, absolutely not. However what kind of life exists and how advanced they are, that is a totally different conversation. I don't believe we are getting visited or abducted.

What's your guilty pleasure?

If it brings me joy, I don't define it as a guilty pleasure, as long as it doesn't interfere with life, friends or family. Maybe I am abusing way too much time at work to write comments for my fav fics or writing novels back to friends.

Tattoos?

No, because I know myself and I will get tired of anything I could get. But I understand why ppl love them because there are some very cool and amazing tattoos (but also gotta say, I find most tattoos very underwhelming or even ugly and I am surprised why ppl get them in the first.place. But those opinions I always, always keep to myself).

Favourite colour?

Blue was always my colour since I was a little girl and it also looks best on me. I love green and altrosa too though.

Favourite type of music?

I suck when it comes to music. I always listen to some random Spotify lists and generally have no idea what is happening in the world of music or particularly care.

Do you like puzzles?

I don't remember the last time I did one... guess that is answer enough.

Any phobias?

I HATE needles. I needed to get a lot of vaccinations last year, I survived, but it really was not my favorite past time. At least the employees at the doctor all complimented me for still being mature enough to take my health seriously 😂.

Favourite childhood sport?

I was the WORST cheerleader in existence, but I loved it 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Lol, i am a very chatty person (IF I like you. ironically I can also be very quiet), of course I talk to myself.

Rick is on the Forbes billionares’ list. Nolan fam wealthy AF.

Basically the Roys from Succession if the black sheep of the fam were a crust punk and a stripper.

Jude grew up in a mansion with a maid and a nanny and a driver the spoiled little shit.

Jude’s fav sibling: Jenny. But Carson comes in at a close second.

Irregardless of their wealth and holidays spent in France and Italy, Rick Nolan wanted the kids to grow up relatively normal. This is why he enrolled them all in a public school in Stony Point.

But college was srs business and he made sure Carson got into Yale.

With Jude they had less luck, he ended up in Columbia (and dropped out a few semesters later).

The black sheep of the family is def Jenny tho. Got pregnant at sixteen & dropped out & left when her mother started listing abortion clinics.

She moved to Philly with the babydaddy and became a stripper to support herself and Jake after he was born. They’re on decent terms now though and she happily accepts Marcia’s checks.

Jude dropped out of Columbia and told his parents he was starting a band, and also that he was going to support himself.

Since dropping Jude has only relied on his own money and means, even if that meant being completely broke at times, and he is very proud of that fact.

Jude had a brief period from 2011-2014 when his band Voodoo Kennedy made it big. Rick was asked for a soundbyte about the band and briefly said upon exiting a courtroom: “Never heard of them.”

Fav Films of 2019

!There are a couple of movies I still haven’t watched so this list might change a bit in the next months) 1. Marriage Story - I don't remember feeling the way I did watching this film since 'HER'. Adam Driver delivers the greatest performance I've seen this year and its script is so powerful and realistic that it feels like you're spying on a real couple. Noah Baumbach's masterpiece.

2. Jojo Rabbit - Oh boy, where do I start? Taika Waititi crafted such a BEAUTIFUL story that's poignant, funny and thought-provoking while ripping your heart out. Thomasin McKenzie and Roman Griffin Davis are unbelievable in this film. Keep an eye on both of these young talents!

3. The Peanut Butter Falcon - One of the best 'feel good' films I've watched not only this year or this decade, but in my life. Shia LaBeouf and Zack Gottsagen's chemistry is the heart and soul of this story. It's scientifically proven that your heart will grow after watching it.

4. Parasite - A comedy? A drama? A horror? A family film? It's all of those and more. I have no doubt that this one will be seen as a 'classic' in the future. Performances, characters, screenplay, editing, pacing... is all on point. Bong Joon-Ho nailed it with this masterpiece.

5. The Nightingale - very rarely you get revenge stories that focus on character study instead of explosions, action and cheesy lines. This one makes your blood boil of anger and impotence. Jennifer Kent's directing is magnificent. Aisling Franciosi's is out of this world too.

6. Klaus - I don't remember the last time an animated/family film moved me like Klaus did. It's refreshing to see a full 2D animation feature on an industry dominated by 3D animation. It's a lovely story that will make you shed some tears.

7. Booksmart - Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein are what make this coming-of-age comedy a treat to experience, even though we've had similar stories in the past. It's emotional, funny and heartbreaking in some scenes. Billie Lourd is a scene stealer btw, she must be protected!

8. Official Secrets - Heavy dialogue biographical dramas are not easy to pull off, specially those that tackle complex political matters, this one succeeds in every aspect for me. Seeing Keira Knightley on a "modern day" setting is a breeze of fresh air.

9. Knives Out - There's no doubt that Rian Johnson knows how to craft a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this is no exception. Fun characters, fun story and great performances all across the board. Ana de Armas should be on more films, she's an amazing actress!

Favourite Characters & Quotes

Yeah I love making lists, so...here we go! 😊 These are my favs, in no particular order.

1. Nick Blaine (The Handmaid’s Tale) - “I’m trying to keep you alive. You and our baby.”

So uhm, in no particular order, aha...I am sooo subtle! Anyway, this brooding driver from Michigan absolutely deserves a spot among my top 5. I dont even know what’s my favourite thing about him! The huge character development? His selfless and unconditional love for June and their baby? (Excuse me, but yeah, he is a Dad now and it still freaks me out in a good way). His smokin hot looks? The fact that he can be so tender and so passionate at the same time? Whatever it is, he absolutely conquered me during S1 and my love for him was growing with every episode in S2. He deserves the world and nothing less! ❤

2. Noora Sætre (OG Skam) -  “According to studies, girls who call other girls sluts have 90% more chance to get chlamydia.”

I have a permanent obsession with this show, and Noora is definitely my favourite female character from it. Funny, witty and feminist af - yes, you can be a feminist AND be in a relationship at the same time. Faux feminist fans of a certain other show might...take some notes. 😉

3 Tom Branson (Downton Abbey) -  “Look, it comes down to whether or not you love me! That's all! That's it! The rest is detail.”

Yeah so...apparently I do have a type and that’s the sexy driver. His storyline provides almost everything I want in a period drama. Smoldering looks? Check. Hot Irish accent? Check. Seemingly impossible love interest A.K.A the chauffeur falling for the daughter of the Lord? Check. The love of his life finally chooses him after he waited 4 years for her? Check. Oh there’s one caveat tho, we dont talk about 3x05. At. All.

4. Alexander Hardenberg (Druck) - “I love you. Do you love me?”

This was...unexpected, to say the least, for 2 reasons. He stars in a Skam remake and I never ever would have thought that I would prefer a “remake character” over an original one. Also I didnt care much about him in S1. But S2??? OMG. This is the character development I’m living for!! A dorky, soft, vulnerable, cocoa-drinking, bath-loving, super proud boyfriend who cannot stay away from his gf for more than 2 hours and absolutely lets her lead in their relationship. Need I say more?? He’ll always have a special place in my heart. ❤

5. Chandler Bing (Friends) - “I’m not great at the advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?”

Chandler Muriel Bing is my spirit animal. That’s it. Master of sarcasm and iconic one-liners. He’s also the most relatable Friends character for me. I mean - covering insecurities with funny comments? Yup, been there, done that!

The Morning After - Oscars 2019 Edition

My favourite photo from the 91st Academy Awards

My two favourite moments from last night’s Oscars are better represent in audio, those being Olivia Coleman’s speech when she won Best Actress over the heavily favoured Glenn Close, and when Rayka Zehtabchi exclaimed “I can’t believe a film on menstruation won an Oscar!”

It was fun keeping up with everyone’s reactions and remarks during the awards, and chiming in with many of my own even though I do, as always, find the speed of twitter a little breakneck. Also friends and colleagues who, knowing that I’m a big movie buff, came by or message me to discuss last night’s show.  At times we got animated enough that random passerbys and company VPs felt the need to chime in, which is the best gathering of the minds possible in my world.

Here’s a list of the winners and what I thought of each recipient:

Best Picture

While not entirely classy of Spike Lee to turn his back when Green Book was announced, he was able to joke about it later that every time a film about driving was pit against his own film, he would lose to it (Do the Right Thing lost to Driving Miss Daisy) My silver lining was knowing that TIFF audiences picked yet another Best Picture winner.  We do have quite a track record, don’t we? I really thought the Academy was going to make a different type of history in diversity by awarding a foreign film (Roma) with Best Picture. Or at least Black Panther, that would’ve been cool too.

I was ecstatic to have guessed wrong in my Oscar picks for this category.  Both Olivia Coleman and Glenn Close were such strong contenders (as was Melissa McCarthy).  Glenn Close carried her film, Olivia Coleman elevated her already very good movie to another level.

It’s nice that Rami Malek won, and I guessed he would. But I think Christian Bale was still better.

I think a writing Oscar is an excellent award for Spike Lee to win. I’m rarely familiar with the original story vs its adaptation, therefore it’s hard to say who did the best job of adapting their source material.  That said, any way you slice it, BlacKkKlansman was a great script.

I’m personally disappointed it wasn’t up for any writing awards.

Again, please to be wrong in this category.  If anything I would have said First Man stood out more in audio achievement, but visual effects were also excellent and I’m glad the film got at least one Oscar because it is such a fine technical achievement.

Also a fine, inspiring acceptance speech by Domee Shi. I didn’t see any other shorts but I did watch Bao several times over and my Torontonian pride swelled when it won.  Growing up Asian, there’s a lot of embedded humour in this short as well, the husband character is still my absolute favourite.

Especially again films such as The Favourite and Vice, the former’s editing has a hand in shaping its visual mastery, the latter is entirely built from the art of editing. What the hell?

If you’re gonna go by that misguided logic then at least give it to A Star is  Born. It’s been a day and I still can’t fathom how anyone could think the sound editing of Bohemian Rhapsody is better than First Man, A Quiet Place, and Roma!

Cinematography

This was a pretty stacked category and Alfonso Cuaron did make a beautiful looking film. I don’t know if it was more striking that Cold War or The Favourite, but all in all he did deserve the win.

Production Design

So, that’s it for awards season 2019. I did pitiful in my predictions this year because I was way off on the technical awards, not to mention some big ones too like Best Picture. 

I’ll wrap it up by recommending that you watch First Man (with a good sound set up as it is superb technical, has a great score, and supporting actress Claire Foy), Destroyer (for its story and Nicole Kidman), The Hate U Give (that delivers a much stronger message than Green Book ever will), and Beautiful Boy (where supporting actor Timothee Chalamet actually has a sizable role).

you were obvi sketch as hell because your friends hadn’t actually told you they signed you up yet???

but when you texted the gc they were like oh yea we signed your single ass up for that so you’d stop complaining and make!! New!! Friends!!

and tbh you’re not completely against the idea 

and you figure you won’t be cast anyways

so you go ‘what the hell’ ad audition

but what you did not expect...

was to be cast...

and even more unexpectedly...

was to find out on the way to the house that  a member

of hecking NCT 127 was going to be on the show with you???

so now you’re hella freaking out in the car and the driver is like u good 

and you’re just like no how am i going to live with NCT my favs askjdhj

you get to the house and there’s one other person there

and she’s really nice and pretty and dammit competition

more people are arriving and finally there's one more left 

obvi the NCT member

and you’re sitting there at the dining room table the entire time sWEaTiNg 

luckily no one notices, or they just don’t say anything

the doorbell rings and by this time your anxiety is through the roof

the first contestant you met gets up and answers the door and you’re suddenly blinded bc holy shit mister healing smile Yuta Nakamoto himself walked through the doors

and everyone is busy greeting him and you just let out a small “hello” for fear of literally fainting

and lucky you the only seat available is across from you

so he sits down and smiles and you just,,,mELt

another member (they cast a professional chef thank god) offers to make dinner but you guys need to buy groceries

so you all get in the car and luckily you can drive and yuta sits up front with you 

and you plug your phone in to play some music and ThE FIrsT SoNG that comes on is Back 2 U my fav don’t @ me and he’s just like

“oh I’ve got a fan I see” and he WINkS agAIN and you blush and you’re trying to stutter out a reply

when girl in the back just goes “I’m a huuuuge fan!” and tries to sing along but homegirl doesn’t even know the words LMAO 

and while she’s off claiming to be the biggest fan (she doesn’t even know the fandom name smh) you and yuta make eye contact 

and start laughing but like you don’t want to hurt her feelings so try and keep it on the dl

finally you pull up to the supermarket and you have a list of what to buy so you decide to divvy up who gets what for efficiency

but in reality 5 seconds after you split up yuta automatically comes back to you 

and you’re like ????? this wasn’t the plan

but he just shrugs like

“the other girl probably would have found me and done the same. Besides, I like you”

and guess who becomes a tomato again yep that’s right it’s you

and so you go around the store

yuta trying to make a cheesy pick up line with every. fucking. fruit.

no matter how amusing it was you have dinner to make!

so now you’re yelling at yuta bc

and he just laughs at your second hand embarrassment but he puts the peaches down anyways 

and you collect all your ingredients just in time for the other girl to some storming up to you guys

and she opens her mouth but then realizes there are cameras,,,everywhere

so she just “got the ingredients hehe ^^”

and you’re both like ‘sounds fake but ok’ 

and you buy the ingredients and head home and the car ride is almost awkward if it weren��t for yuta just,,,not being able to shut up LMAO

you get back to the house and sit at the table bc you’re exempt from cooking since you bought the groceries

half expecting him to hang out with the other guys you’re startled to see yuta sit down across from you

he continues the conversation you had going on in the grocery store, asking about your family and occupation

occasionally opening the conversation up to the other people in the room but his main focus is you

and you get to ask him some, but not many, questions about nct, dorm life, etc

and a few days pass by, you’ve grown friendly with the rest of the cast but you and yuta always seem to gravitate together

and ofc everyone else notices and they’re always like,,,what’s up with you two...

and obviously you have feelings for him but,,,

he’s an idol,,,

and while most fans wouldn’t mind you are wary of those who would rip your head off for how close you’ve already become with yuta

he’s barely in the house half the time due to his schedules but he always manages to spend time with you

so one day you’re both chilling watching nct life inn osaka bc he high key wants to show off how responsible and funny he is

and when the takoyak scene comes up you make some off hand comment about how you’ve never had any and he just!!

“HoW??? OMG wE nEEd tO GO gET sOmE NOW!!!”

and you’re like yuta no it’s almost midnight asjkdh

so he takes the oppurtunity to be like,,,

“we have some free time on thursday,,,if you’re not busy i can take you to this takoyaki place,,,not as good as ones you can get in Japan but it’s great none the less”

you’re high key bouta faint but you manage to nonchalantly be like ‘yea i’m free that day’

and you both settle back and continue watching and making funny commentary but on the inside you’re both

thursday comes and yuta had to leave early for rehearsal but he’ll have the rest of the day off

so you and the other girls are getting your pretty self ready

the other girl who liked yuta left the show for...reasons so now he’s all yours hehe

yuta comes back and takes a shower bc no one wants to be sweaty and smelly on their first date

you’re just waiting in the dining room chatting with someone else

and  he finally comes out and you’re just kind of frozen in awe bc when is the boy not beautiful it’s not fair

little do you know he’s also in shock bc ‘wow you’ve always looked beautiful didn’t think it was possible to look even more beautiful but here y/n is proving me wrong’

the person you were talking with stands up and breaks the spell and you both get all blushy 

yuta offers to drive and you’re like yes pls do i’d probably crash us with how nervous i am

the drive to the takoyaki place is filled with your usual conversation and yuta’s flirting

you get to the restaurant and yuta insists on making the takoyaki bc he iS the tAKoYaKi PRiNCe

and you let him do his thing bc a) you’ve never made this before and b) he looks so cute concentrating and trying to show off

finally they’re done and, you guessed it

boi has to feed you 

and your whole face lights up like holy shit this is delicious you are the prince of takoyaki

when you’re both all done he insists on paying

when you’re like ‘i feel bad making you pay for everything’

also yeah!! ao3 year in review!! it's a bit complicated to figure out at first and if you read a lot the finding pages thing can be pretty tedious, but it's def worth it once you figure it out. it gives you a lot of different stats about everything you read and it's pretty cool. now i am going to go look at your fics to remember my favs. you deserve the praise so i am willing to offer it. jeez you write a lot i respect the motivation sm. you write quite a bit of angst and i won't lie i try to stay away from angst so i haven't read your fics that seem super angst-y based on the tags. BUT there are still so many i recall reading and loving nonetheless. on a quick scroll-through: i usually don't read high school AUs but "paint me in trust (i'll be your best friend)" was super adorable and lovely. "thank god i'm yours" is one of my favs iirc. also i love love love "it's not always easy (but i'm here forever)" like yes please romanticize alex gaskarth i love it sm. waterparks!! will not lie i only really started listening to them about 6 months ago having been distantly aware of their existence for several years by being a fan of bands in the same genre. listen as long as you let yourself be vaguely annoyed by awsten is prevents you from being in love with him. follow him on any social media platform for like a day and you'll be sick of him typing in nothing but all caps within hours. simply do not romanticize him and you can keep yourself from falling!! so this is coming from a slightly fake parx fan, but some of my favs by them have been peach (lobotomy), crave, numb, fuzzy, violet!, you'd be paranoid too, and lowkey as hell. that is a very songs-from-their-most-recent-album-heavy rec, but whatever. i did give the disclaimer about being a fake parx fan.

yeah hayley does have 2 solo albums now!! petals for armor and flowers for vases / descansos. pfa is the one i didn't really like upon first listen but has grown on me. i haven't even listened to the second one in its entirety oops but we won't mention it. dead horse is good but simmer (pretty sure that was the other single??) just ain't it for me. the album has some lovely songs but it's just a hit or miss album all the way through. some favs of mine on it include pure love, taken, crystal clear, watch me while i bloom, and why we ever. it's sorta a storyline album about healing if that adds anything to it?? but anyways. i started listening to paramore around the time after laughter dropped and it grew to be one of my fav albums in existence. idle worship is probably one of my fav songs like ever. i def understand being slightly put off by bands with songs that make religious references (me with twenty one pilots' earlier music that makes a lot more religious references considering i'm not religious whatsoever) but i think i am blinded by being in love with hayley williams and just ignore it. idk that she's like super religious?? she's addressed believing in god and stuff a few times but she's def not the "rub it in your face" type and if she's making refs in music more recently then they're subtle enough i'm not noticing them. ik albums like brand new eyes had a lot more because it was shortly after that the band split and the songwriting process was essentially her and ex-bandmate co-songwriter arguing about their religious beliefs (turns out he ended up being super homophobic and transphobic all based on his religion so do with that what u will and thank the clown for leaving). i feel u on the "i meant to start listening to them" because that's essentially how i started listening to them. i told myself i was going to and then finally forced myself to do it. fuck falling for awsten knight what's more risky is falling in love with hayley </3

Oslo: The Journey to Car-free Ever since the big announcement carried worldwide in 2015 that Oslo, Norway's new progressive city government planned to make the downtown car-free by 2019, I immediately put it on my list of places I wanted to go and see what's up. And that only got more intriguing a year later when following that fanfare, there wasn't a ton of news or documentation updating us on Oslo's progress towards its amazing goal. So in fall 2016 I went- not knowing if I'd find if progress was slow or fast, and how much I could show visually. First off, it is a lovely, clean city. It already features some nice blocks of car-free or car-light pedestrian zones which are heavily populated even late at night. And I knew it was a good sign when I stepped off the bus from the airport a block later and I stumbled upon construction of a new rail line. Oslo is certainly on its way, and even skeptics seem to know going at least as car-free as possible is inevitable. Besides it being a great environmental goal for the city and to manage growth, Oslo is one of - if not the fastest - growing city in all of Europe. However, the biggest factor is that the air quality in Oslo and many places in Norway is deteriorating. Due to inversion in winter it can be dangerous to the public and keeps vulnerable children and seniors restricted indoors. Oslo is aiming to reach its goal on many fronts. The city has been aggressively removing car parking and by the end of 2017, they expect to no longer have any on-street parking in the city's core. All new developments are required to be built car-free. Ruter, the transportation authority for Oslo, is planning on absorbing all new city population growth in addition to the task of converting current drivers to ride buses, trains and trams. Car share systems are beginning to dominate as more families want to live near the city without a personal vehicle. Oh, and there's this nifty plan to help people pay for electric-assist cargo bikes! The city's bike share Oslo Bysykkel has recently been completely overhauled in favor of better stronger, lighter system with more stations and better interactivity system. You can actually unlock your bike by smart phone as you approach the station, just take it and go. I've never seen anything like it! Of the 26 bike share systems I've ridden, I'd say it is in my top three favs. Bike lanes are also being built or upgraded throughout Oslo. Here you will not find ample Copenhagen-style protected bike facilities, but thanks to the on-going car parking removal it creates the opportunity for many wide, red-painted curbside lanes. Despite lack of true separation they feel rather safe and unlike a similar style that might be tried in the U.S., you will not find cars parking in the lanes. Over four days I probably could count on one hand the number of cars I saw sitting in the lanes. Momentum is certainly on the city's side and an already great city will one day be fantastic for walking, biking and transit. Will they go completely car-free? Will they do it by 2019? We will find out in a few years. So sit back and listen to a diverse group of voices I got to interview, including Oslo's charming Mayor Marianne Borgen talk about the philosophy of why all this is being done and the implications for a better Oslo in years to come.
