Riddle: once a student asked him to help them hide some contraband. They didn’t realize riddle was the house warden, or.. you know.. Riddle. Riddle played along for a sec to see what they were hiding, and found they were keeping a fiFTEEN FOOT PYTHON IN THEIR ROOM WITHOUT TELLING THEIR ROOMATES

Trey: once Riddle’s mom asked for a custom cake for a bachelorette party she was hosting. Trey wasn’t sure if she knew who he was, but he wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry

Cater: his sisters trapped him in a box for a few hours and when he got out something was on fire. To this day he doesn’t know what happened

Duce/Ace: they were both going to sneak into MC/Yuu’s dorm for a surprise visit, and saw them throwing something at a mirror and going “LEAVE ME ALONE YOU CREEPY RAT 😭😭😭”. Then they decided to quietly leave

Leona: one time he fell asleep in his bed, but somehow woke up in pomefiore. He has no idea what happened, but he assumes rook has something to do with it. Rook has never confirmed nor denied this

Jack: one time using his signature spell, an influencer™️ went up and tried to take a picture with him. A wolf. He turned back and immediately scolded/yelled at them for being so stupid

Ruggie: he works multiple retail jobs. He’s seen a lot of weird stuff. Once he saw the entirety of scarabia flood a McDonaldDucks wearing banana suits

Azul/Jade: someone did something disgusting in the sink of the lounge every Monday for two months

Floyd: that time he was used to make face cream

Jamil: Kalim. But seriously, one time he found someone selling merch of Kalim, and even found a keychain of HIMSELF

Kalim: once Jamil left for a day and Kalim got the entire Scarabia dorm to dress in banana costumes and go to the Spelldrive game and raid random places. It was the best day of his life

POMEFIORE

Vil: he once found fanfic of him and neige and exploded

Epel: once ate one of those “bubble gum flavored” apples by accident and basically fell out of his seat ((trey pranked him))

Rook: neige liked one of his fanfics he wrote about him

IGNIHYDE

Ortho: he once walked in on idia wearing cat ears and a maid outfit and to this day does not know what was going on

Idia: once ortho sent him some WILD fanart of star rogue and went “oops, wrong person 😇”. Idia never got an explanation

DIASOMNIA

Malleus: when scarabia had the banana incident™️ he accidentally wandered in, and was passed a suit. He was so excited to be invited to something he just put it on and didn’t question things

Lilia: he made one of the first memes and no one knows it’s him. He’s like Neil Cicierega of the twst world

Silver: woke up to a “sleeping contest” he was apparently having with Leona by accident. There were people cheering for them and banners set up

Sebek: one time saw yuu call Malleus “babygorl” and malleus didn’t comment??? Is that normal for them??? (Yes)

I finally got to play the Ghost Marriage event and all I can think of was: 👏Brides👏maid👏Raven-San👏 throws the bouquet of flowers to distract Eliza!(may or may not hit someone in the face with the bouquet) Catch’s the bouquet at the end of it!

dbjssbjendnd I do wonder what Miss Raven’s up to while the ghosts are taking over campus and preparing for the wedding… Probably trapped in some office filing incidence reports to document what’s been happening, and praying that no one dies because imagine having to explain that to then parents/guardians.

Maybe when Crowley’s getting desperate he yanks her out and says she should infiltrate as a bridesmaid and change out the regular ring for the ring of severance 😂 “… I’d obviously stick out like a sore thumb, being the only non-ghost in the wedding entourage.” “We won’t know until you try!!” Maybe her vignettes can be about singing to the local birds to convince them to help her make her bridesmaid outfit, since Sam said in the event he was all out of stock for wedding items. Then when she crashes the wedding, everyone’s surprised she’s there at all but Raven just complains that she’s overworked and she has to stop this wedding because otherwise the Shroud family might sue NRC into the dirt and that would just be a legal nightmare for her to help the headmaster deal with…

jdjsvsiwkwhdh Maybe she can team up with Ace and talk some sense into Eliza, since Raven understands both sides: the young and naively optimistic love that Eliza has hope in, and the more realistic kind of love that Ace speaks of; the kind of love where your partner isn’t perfect, but is willing to be a work in progress with you. Raven has experienced both kinds, so I think she’d have a lot to say on the matter. Or maybe she just smacks some ghosts around and tells the boys off for making more trouble for her to clean up 🧼 She throws the bouquet at the end and it smacks [redacted] in the face… Use your imagination to insert any character of your choosing into the redacted part 😂

I sketched my own concept for Bridesmaid Raven @w@ but I was half awake while doing it, so the design’s kinda sloppy and could be more coherent 💦 but I figured I’d share anyway! Since a bridesmaid usually complements what the bride wears, I wanted a blue dress with white and gold accents to contrast Eliza’s mostly white outfit with some greys. The clothing also borrows from part of Eliza’s own sleeves, the flowers in her veil, and how the hem of her gown transitions into something floaty.

I think your version is different, but it has its own charm. It definitely has more of a “Raven” than an “Eliza” inspiration, especially with the short gloves, feathered sleeves, and the shorter skirt. I like the addition of the headband to replace her usual hat; her head looks a little empty without an accessory there, huh? djvsjensksev I’m not sure if I entirely understand why Raven is crying in the second image, but at least she’s being comforted sooo 🤔

I just want to quickly advise! 💦 Please ask in advance if it’s okay to create a piece of media with your OC interacting with someone else’s! Not everyone may be comfortable with a person they don’t know that well making their OC(s) engage with (likely) an OC that they also don’t know that well 😅 It’s just something to keep in mind for the future!

Medea Plays Animal Crossing New Horizons: Part IV

So I’m working on this town little by little, enjoying what happens on a day-by-day basis.

Plus, I’m one of them “essential workers” all of a sudden after 13 years of being treated like puke. So, I’m not in quarantine 24/7 like regular people.

Elvis?

I don’t believe I’ve met Elvis. Please tell me he’s not a pig with mutton-chops.

Oh great.

I just bought space for Prince John.

On the plus side...

Bob is my latest neighbor. I have two spaces left and am kinda holding out hope that I one day run into Papi or Olivia. But we’ll see what happens. I might open the floor for some newbies I’ve never interacted with in any game.

Okay, besides my hatred of these fucking things. On random nights (mostly clear nights), you will run into Celeste (Blathers’s sister).

Whenever you see her, she’ll probably give you a recipe for something that involve star fragments.

On clear nights, you can see shooting stars in the sky. Make sure you’re not holding an item, look up, and press A.

The next morning, look all over your beach and you will find some star fragments, maybe even a few rare ones.

These are good to have when you want to craft the fun wands.

Alright, alright! Time for K.K.’s concert!

And his first song is the theme to this game. As usual, he’ll slip a copy of his track to you.

I love how Bob and Raymond are next to each other.

After the concert, Tom Nook lets you know that K.K. will be performing every Saturday evening. But that’s not all!

You finally get to reshape the island.

With this app, you can shape and mold cliffs and water-scapes to your liking. And the ATM added more things like textiles to be bought with Nook Miles and...

...

You shameless whores.

There will be days where not much is happening on the island. So Isabelle goes off on silly things.

She’s just so precious.

And finally, after days of pestering her...

Sable finally speaks to me.

I figured she would actually open up if you kinda bug her day after day once you get the Able Sisters shop. It worked in New Leaf, figured it was the same process and I was right.

If you continue to talk to her, she’ll let you know interesting tidbits about her, her life, and her sisters. Including this little gem!

DAMN! Big sis Sable is savage.

I’m gonna put her in the best girl category with Olivia, Isabelle, and Daisy Mae.

Meanwhile...

NO. I did not give him a maid’s uniform...yet.

Got him some business attire. Gotta keep my business kitty happy, before I do humiliating things to him.

Helping villagers with their flea problems. If you see a little black dot hopping around on them, strike them with the net to catch the flea.

Slap your villager three times with the net and they’ll be pissed at you.

Don’t be a dick. Only strike once when necessary.

I built a hot spring. And figures the only one interested in it was Wisp.

Once your town is really taking off, you’ll get surprise visitors in the plaza.

A couple of days ago, Kicks came to town. He sells the usual shoes, socks, and the occasional backpack.

And today, I got a surprise visit from...

Sable and Mable’s sister Label (or Labelle)

Much like when Gracie Grace would come to your town in New Leaf, Label will come and have you dress in a certain theme. If you pass, the next day you’ll get tailor tickets to be used at the Able’s shop.

Well it’s that time for one of my residents to talk about leaving the island to go off on their own...

Or not! I really want to bond more with my villagers and then have some of them go on their merry way. Just to see if I’m able to get a photograph of them.

The next discovery...I learned from WatchMojo of all places.

You can poop in Animal Crossing.

Let me repeat this.

YOU. CAN. TAKE. A. SHIT. IN ANIMAL CROSSING!

I know there are toilets in the game. I used to give them away as gifts.

Hell, I even walked in on Papi using the crapper from time to time.

But literally, here you can squeeze out a chocolate fudge dragon!

Let me explain.

You know how there’s a counter of how many eggs or pieces of fruit you’ve eaten? Those are usually used to shovel trees up from the root. Well, if you don’t use it for that, you can always sit on a toilet and watch the counter go down.

Well, I gotta say, this game is doing wonders with me. I haven’t had an anxiety attack in days. And work problems aren’t getting to me. Coronavirus shit on the other hand...

Louie, I swear to Stinky Wizzleteats, if you sneeze on me, your ass is gonna be on the first boat the fuck off my island.

I couldn’t help it after reading PowerOptix’s Ratja/Mausinger shipping list. Since there's not much fan art about Mausinger, who by now is amongst my favorite Ni No Kuni 2 characters, I decided to make some fanart myself. I share the headcanon that Ratja might have eventually ended up together with him, seeing as to how they seem to be quite... close in the game, particularly the DLC give hints that Mausinger trusts Ratja very much.

Anyway, I'll explain a bit about these doodles. In the left corner, they're having some intimacy. I drew them both with tails (though Ratja's isn't very noticeable). They must have tails underneath that long clothing, right? all micefolk have. Mausinger's tail is thicker, though, since he's a rat. In the bottom left corner, I drew them both when they were younger. I headcanon they must have known each other from way before their jobs at the castle; mice had to stick together, after all, especially considering the grimalkin constantly abused them. In the middle above they are embracing; I don't exactly know the circumstances myself, but I'd like to think it's the reconciliation after the whole issue with Doloran. As some saw in the DLC, she wasn't aware of the coup (probably Mausinger didn't want her to get involved should it fail, or maybe he wanted to surprise her), and she clearly was not happy about Evan getting almost killed. I added two drawings of Ratja during pregnancy. My favorite is the one with Mausinger as he's feeling the baby kicking. He's happy about being a father, but at the same time, he's... uncertain about it and fears he might not be a good dad. I mean, since some of us agree (looking at you, Poweroptix) he's a workaholic and takes his duty seriously, he wouldn't have much time to spend with his kids. And last but not least, the drawing shortly after the twins, Lilly and Leon, was born. What can I say? Mice in real life are known to have LOTS of offspring due to their status as a prey animal. Mausinger decided to name his son after Leonhard as a way to honor his memory, while Lilly was named after Ratja's mother. The reason I drew different clothing on Ratja in the last three drawings was that I don't think she'd wear the same maid dress after she and Mausinger got married. I mean, the Queen must look nice, right? I like how she looks like with loose hair. P.S: How does Ratjinger sound as shipping name?

Precure Movie “Reincarnations”

With KiraPre’s coming out in a little under two months (second cue to start anticipating next season), I thought I’d go through all the ones I’ve watched so far to see how many seiyuus who starred in the movies ended up coming back to voice characters (main or supporting) in later seasons.

So there’s one rule to this: it has to go from movie –> tv anime. Hence the whole calling it a “reincarnations”…thing.

Left out the All Stars movies cuz I don’t want to deal with those.

Oh, and these are in order by the movies’ corresponding season.

Warning: Image heavy. Also, crappy editing because I’m too lazy to make it look nice. :P

1) Shadow (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Syrup (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!) {CV: Park Romi}

I’m pretty sure this is the strangest one on the list. But it’s the legendary Romi Park we’re talking about. She can voice anything.

So not so strange, I guess……no, it is. It’s quite bizarre just thinking these two even have one thing in common. xD;

2) Dark Dream (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Aoki Reika/Cure Beauty (Smile Precure!) {CV: Nishimura Chinami}

By far, my most favorite “reincarnation”. I love Dark Dream so much as a villain and a baddy-turned-good. That she “returned” as the lovely and badass Cure Beauty… it just made me appreciate Cure Beauty even more.

And I always get so gleeful when their connection shows up in fanart, too. ^^

3) Dark Lemonade (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Madoka Aguri/Cure Ace (Doki Doki! Precure) {CV: Kugimiya Rie}

Can’t say I’m surprised that Rie Kugimiya came back. Even less surprised that she’d be voicing a Cure because she is a famous veteran.

What I didn’t expect was getting two variations of her voice in one character. Which isn’t a bad thing. I like Cure Ace’s voice. More than Aguri’s/Dark Lemonade’s anyway.

4) Dark Mint (Yes! Precure 5 Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibouken) –> Flora (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!) {CV: Minaguchi Yuko}

Not surprised here either.

I don’t have much to say about this one. Yuko Minaguchi was the voice behind Hotaru/Sailor Saturn from the first SM series, after all. So whether she’s playing an antagonist or a holy-goddess-like figure, she always makes it sound so natural. And her voice is so pretty. She’s so gifted. ^^

5) Princess Chocola (Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!) –> Chypre (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Kawata Taeko}

I’m very fond of this one because I love both of them. <3

It actually took me a while to realize Chocola had the same voice as Chypre (cuz I watched Heartcatch before I watched Yes!5) and when I did I was like “Ohhhh……”

Anyways, it’s nice that a cute character came back as another cute character. Only a very few on this list kept that consistency.

6) Dry (Yes! PreCure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!) –> Cologne (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Ishida Akira}

Let’s just go with the fact that none of these surprise me, lol.

I’m always going to be expecting the veteran seiyuus to show up sooner or later, movie-exclusive or not.

7) Toymajin (true form) (Fresh PreCure!: Omocha no Kuni wa Himitsu ga Ippai?!) –> Hanasaki Kaoruko/Cure Flower (Heartcatch Precure!) {CV: Sakamoto Chika}

I don’t even remember if teddy!Toymajin ever talked at all but according to MAL, he did.

*shrug*

To be honest, what really surprised me (lol, yea, I spoke too soon \D;) was running into Chika Sakamoto again. I remember her fondly as the memorable voice for Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi. To the mahou shoujo community, you’ll probably recognize her as the voice for Yaten Kou/Sailor Star Healer from Sailor Moon Stars.

8) Olivier (Heartcatch Precure!: Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show…Desu ka?!) –> Candy (Smile Precure!) {CV: Otani Ikue}

P-I-K-A-C-H-UUUU~!!!

Ok, but seriously, I really loved Olivier so when I think of this, I can’t help but feel there’s been a bit of a downgrade. There’s nothing wrong with Candy. It’s just that I think of her more strongly as a mascot than as a character, that’s all.

9) Howling (Suite Precure♪: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!) –> Emperor Pierrot (Smile Precure!) {CV: Genda Tesshou}

Apparently.

Almost all of Precure’s Big Bad Bosses sound the same to me. I really can’t tell the difference.

10) Flat (Suite Precure♪: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!) –> Close (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Madono Mitsuaki}

Second case where the villain comes back as another villain.

Close is hard to forget (because he’s so annoying) but Flat barely had any character to him that if I didn’t look him up, I wouldn’t be able to tell who’s who in the Trio de Major.

11) Dog (Smile Precure!: Ehon no Naka wa Minna no Chiguhagu!) –> Puff (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Toyama Nao}

This shouldn’t even be on the list but it’s so amusing that I just had to. Does it literally, right next to Nao Toyama’s name, say “Dog” in the movie credits? xD;

Well, unlike the others who do sport noticeable differences between them, there’s hardly any for these two. That one just got upgraded to a cute maid three years later.

12) Momotaro (Smile Precure!: Ehon no Naka wa Minna no Chiguhagu!) –> Aihara Yuuki (Go! Princess Precure) {CV: Abe Atsushi}

Alright, this can actually be a real reincarnation. I mean, they look alike! They even seem to have similar temperaments!

…Or is that just me?

13) Purple Buggy (Doki Doki! Precure: Mana Kekkon?!! Mirai ni Tsunagu Kibou no Dress) –> Glaive (Kira Kira Precure a la Mode) {CV: Egawa Hisao}

Hey hey~! Somebody from the current season!

But the more important question…when is Glaive going to be relevant in KiraPre again? ^^;

14) Orihara Tsumugi (Happiness Charge Precure!: Ningyou no Kuni no Ballerina) –> Izayoi Riko/Cure Magical (Mahou Tsukai Precure!) {CV: Horie Yui}

Easily my second most favorite of this bunch and frankly, there’s no need to go into extensive explanation about it. HaCha’s movie wouldn’t have been half as interesting without Tsumugi.

Then, bless our luck, we get to hear Hocchan again! Not only as an MC but also as an adorable tsundere! Riko~!!! X3

Man, I really love it when they come back as a Cure. The tones are obviously going to be different between a role they voiced in the movie and a role they voice in the tv series but it’s fun observing just how different they are, y’know? The key is really the acting, yup. ^^

15) Princess Pumplulu (Go! Princess Precure: Go! Go!! Gouka Sanbon Date!!!) –> ??? {CV: Hanazawa Kana}

I can say with confidence that a good percentage of us is waiting on bated breath for the day when Kana-chan will finally be assigned a Precure title. And it’s going to happen, I tell you. IT MUST.

I don’t care if they make her one of the first regular Cures or a latecomer Cure as long as she is a one of the main Cures. Because wtf, Go!Pri’s movie was one the most unfavorite things I’ve ever came across in this franchise that I need to be compensated for sitting through it! If they didn’t split it into three parts, I think we could’ve gotten a hell of a better story.

Especially on Pumplulu’s part. She had such a nice personality and her character had so much potential for expansion. Like, oh I dunno, turning her into a movie-exclusive Cure maybe?! Because technically, a lot of that movie should’ve been about her. AND she had all the qualifications to become Precure. She’s kind and beautiful and strong enough to resist the bad guy from brainwashing her (which is why he had to lock her up because he couldn’t use her like he did with her parents)!

Why wasn’t she made a Cure?! Why’d we have to focus on Haruka dancing around making pudding and CGI stuff I don’t care about?!

*rants for the next few hours*

Not to mention, @rona67th‘s gorgeous fanart of her in Cure form and Mode Elegant just makes me want it to be official even more! *sobs* I’d die to see that animated. I’d give up all the others’ Mode Elegant Halloween forms just for Pumplulu to be made a real Cure. T_T

Well, there’s still that hope that HanaKana will be cast in one of the seasons after KiraPre is finished. I’m actually glad she wasn’t put in KiraPre. I need a season with a deeper concept and theme and overall, stronger story for any role she plays. Because it’s HanaKana and I love her so obviously I would want her to get the roles with the better everything. <3

And that’s it, I suppose. Anyone I missed, feel free to add. Though I’m pretty sure I covered all the major ones.

Guess I’ll do this again when the 2nd Precure Generation is over.

Wiltswys: You think me cold? Well, fie on what you think! I wanted something better than tilling salty fields and spilling small fry out the nets, and occasionally taking a passing sailor into my bed for more o' the same!

i have definitely mentioned that i don’t think francel likes his appearance very much — he especially wishes he had lighter-colored eyes like stephanivien and aurvael...

i personally want to think that chlodebaimt looked very different from francel BUT, although i have never datamined the necrose knight (i really should), a friend of mine took screenshots and his eyes at least look like francel's eyes

...but they might very well have just used a generic house haillenarte knight model for that, so who knows what chlodebaimt looked like?

i also like to think that baurendouin (francel's father) persists in the belief that his youngest son will do great things because he at least superficially resembles driancoin de haillenarte (the haillenarte founder you see in the haldrath flashback scene). i mean, i doubt portraits of driancoin survived or anything, given the nondescript statues of thordan's knights, but i’m sure comments about him did?

5. What do you hate about your canon?

i am always, ALWAYS so tired of hearing people complain about how “no one ever” treats the wol like they’re “a normal person” ah, yes no one no one ever has treated you nicely never mind the fact that people regularly apologize for turning to you in their hours of need, and for asking you to kill things, and you usually just dismiss their applogy no one!!! has ever!! been nice!! to the wol!! i know the entire arc of my francel writing career has been bitching about similar things but at least i find new ways to do it

yes! but it depends on the character. for ramza... i either read shakespeare (for real — i have lifted quotes wholesale from hamlet and the tempest) and/or listen to "rather be" by clean bandit? seriously, that is my most strong ramza association... which is weird because the song and the game are like 20 years apart? or i listen to the FFT ost...

for francel i have a whole playlist, but most importantly i either go on twitter and look at wolchefant fanart or read bad wolchefant fanfic on ao3... (don’t judge me; it keeps the bitterness alive)

18. Is there anything you really wish you could do that you feel is outside your current ability? A concept that you wish you could pull off but are uncertain about?

UMMM... hmmmmmmm...

i dont know... i don’t really think any plots are outside of my current ability, but i admire my friends for being so consistent and on the ball with their dignified prose? i can be dignified too, but at some point i'll crash and start writing intensely silly tags

i would like to do more plots where francel is a badass for whatever reason, but that’s just wish fulfillment

francel is the easiest to write because he has the ugliest emotions

ramza is the hardest because he is always so virtuous

everyone else has varying levels of self control, but with francel i can usually succumb to base impulse reactions. i like his unguarded nature...

When writing a character, do you find it easier to work on their external or internal ticks first? oh, internal, definitely. i think my tags suffer from the fact that i often don’t describe what my characters are doing or what is around them? just... just assume on my behalf lmao.... so IF FRANCEL IS CAUGHT UP IN INTERNAL TL;DR there's a 90% chance he's doing that kicked-puppy stare at the floor

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you? XIV, hard mode: no Haurchefant/WoL.

LMAO THAT HARD MODE...

xiv's fandom has rarely "ruined" pairings for me, as in "i liked them before but i hate them now solely because of fandom"... that said, i think i kind of liked the idea of zephirin and aymeric as a rivalry ship, but i hate when fandom takes the "oMG ZEPH RAPED AYMERIC WHEN HE WAS HELD CAPTIVE" route...

i think this perception of zephirin as this horrible awful evil man comes from the fact that the information on the ward happened after the game was released, so... in the span of time between "zephirin killed haurchefant" and "wait actually zephirin is a virtuous man," people formed their opinions, you know?

but it's still really annoying, and to some degree the misconception persists...

i was also okay with guydelot and sanson at first, but i’m a little annoyed by them now, too... it’s not for any particular reason — i just think the fandom is annoying in the "THEY'RE SOOO MARRIED!! EVEN THE OTHER QUEST NPCS SAY THEY'RE LIKE A MARRIED COUPLE!! THEY’RE SO CANON!!!" way and i’m like Please Shut Up. that said, i guess it’s mostly jealousy because none of my pairings are ever canon, but whatever...

so i guess i'm going with zephirin/aymeric, guydelot/sanson... and oh btw like. urianger/moenbryda to a degree? i remember when the wind-up moenbryda item came out and the english item description was like "you don't want to know what urianger did to this" or something like that, like, i just took it as — like urianger probably dressed it up in a little maid outfit and had it serve him tea or something equally otaku-like?

but the entire fandom was like OMG HE JERKED OFF TO IT OR USED IT AS A SEX DOLL OR SOMETHING and i was like ... okay. like if that's how you're determined to see it, fine, but fandom always takes the worst possible interpretation of something i swear to god

LAUGHS WELL I GUESS MY USUAL TIRADE: i don't think of haurchefant as the perfect cinnamon roll angel and actually he annoys me a little...

my friend just finished running coerthas quests on her balmung alt and like... even she commented on how brusque and condescending he seems to francel? and she has no reason to be tainted by my perception of him, it's just... it’s just that he is brusque and condescending.

back when i liked haurchefant/francel, i told myself that it was just how he acted in the heat of the moment and i was sure he was gentler later... but now we’ve seen so much of haurchefant that from the way he treats francel it really feels more to me like francel was just a friend of convenience. i don’t know. i’m bitter. maybe i’m just bitter because it’s easier to cope that way.

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

um... well, i think everyone in the ffxiv fandom also agrees that the fandom is annoying...

something i sometimes worry about, but which is not exclusive to ffxiv, is like... people who rp wind up with such a different impression of things than people who just play the game?

i'm not judging either side on this but... i have rp friends, and i observe the rp community on tumblr/balmung, and i also have friends that are just gamers? and you know, like. sometimes rpers get carried away and invent all these narratives, like i know some tumblr rpers had a bunch of "plots" where a murder mystery happened in ishgard and it was all full of like noble OCs and intrigue or something?

but my gamer friends will sometimes be like, “ishgard is so boring.” so they... see it differently? you wind up viewing the game differently based on what you do in it.

there's also the divide between the english version of the game and the rest of the world, which i bitch about a lot but

just as an example, in english the nobles of ishgard are kind of broadly characterized as being unintelligent and shallow and foppish, whereas the other versions of the game really take a much more neutral approach?

or well i can really only speak for the japanese, but in general the german and french versions of the game are loyal to the japanese, however, 2.0 content was often based on the english...

so, for example, 2.0 content was EN->FR, but ever since 3.0 most of the patches have been JP->EN/DE/FR

however, the EN version continues to make changes, whereas DE and FR don't really change many things!

so i worry a lot about the different perceptions people have of the game, and what that means, like, when i write fanfic...

does my interpretation of coerthas align with other peoples' interpretations of coerthas? probably not. that’s something that’s deeply distressing, as a writer and as someone who prefers to have control, but i don’t know...
