idk how i'm supposed to romance vic when She exists

I really love that a choice from way in the beginning of the book is brought up several times and actually effects the dialogue several chapters later.

I feel like Faith Skelly deserves the world, but all I can give her are these outfit edits.

Is anyone else here reading Kiss of Death? I'm so confused that I don't know if I'm not understanding the book or if the book is so poorly written that the writers can't keep their story straight.

MC basically lived in a bunker after her brother was killed. Even when she met Vic for the very first time, she claimed to be super "boring" and overprotected. I get that people grow up and change, but there's something about her that just doesn't make much sense to me. There are moments where she's super aggressive (very "mafia" style), then she acts like a spoiled brat who's super fashionista but has no idea about anything (I swear she reminds me of Paris Hilton in the early 2000's), then she's super flirty and apparently has had a few significant others (but I thought she said she had no social life!), then she's a total sweetheart, and then, she tries too hard to impress her parents, she's like a little kid trying to catch their attention (and being rejected over and over again). Was it the two years in college? Was it the dysfunctional family?

Also, has Vic been trying to protect the MC since day 1? How is that he didn't recognize any of the shooters that were trying to kill the MC if they all were Flint? How is that he didn't know where the Wolfe's mansion was located in town? Did he always know the MC was a Wolfe? Did he come into that boutique on purpose? I think there is something weird about it.

Is it OK if I think Jasmin was hired by MC's parents to make her feel she was actually doing something productive?

Why does Tyler act as a brat all the time? You should have bought that club before MC's parents did, dude!

Unpopular opinion: I want to be wrong about this one, but I don't trust Faith. She's too loyal to MC's parents.

Dont get me wrong, I like Vic, and I like the whole Romeo and Juliet "our mobster families are enemies but I'm still in love with you" trope, but the friends to lovers trope gets me every time.

But imagine this:

"You're still looking at the text from Vic when a hand closes over the screen of your phone. You look up into Faith's furious eyes as she jerks the phone out of your hand.

"Hey! Wha-" but you're interrupted by the hard pressure of your best friend's lips on yours and the sensation of her boxing you in on the couch you both are sitting on. She pulls back to glare at you while unbuttoning your blouse.

"I'll make you forget all about Vic Flint, even if it's the last thing I do."

Ok so you know how, if Guinivere and Kiss of Death were released pre gender customisable LI era, Morgana and Faith would be the obligatory sidelined female LIs, right? And I’m not saying that era was good in terms of wlw content, or that gender customisable LIs are always bad, but the fact that we lost the chance to kiss Morgana and Faith? Huge L for the wlw community honestly.

okay, not really my favorite favorite (wildfire remains my true pride and joy and when i get a comment despite the update hiatus i grin so big) but that i got comments on catch and release at all sent me to the moon because it’s so niche and absurd. it’s like, a special kind of happy. plus they were all very niceys 🥹

sgdfhdhjgk besides sauntering into ao3 to leave another another fishing pun failstrap fic on the doorstep then scurrying away without updating wildfire? i’m not sure. i’ve been lucky to have never really gotten any meanies comments on my stuff so if there are things i am having fun with the readers aren’t i probably don’t know about them.

i do some bait and switches that might be annoying (‘hey everybody we’re going to the whitetails! it’s whitetails time! ok so here in the henbane.’ ‘omg guess what joseph is at the ranch! haha no it’s faith’ and etc). and i have a lot of unkillable darlings that i’m sure no one else thought were as crucial as i did — yes there had to be an entire chapter in wildfire of johnjess flirting as john tries to change a tire, yes the jerome and jestiny ‘hey there champ’ uncomfortable chat was absolutely necessary. to me and no one else.

HMMMM i want to write more for bg3 in general, both for my ocs and canon faves. finish up the little bits of mae’zel and kyrenthara fics i have in the drafts. as far as fc5... i’m excited to finally write kim in wildfire chapter 19 :3 (she’s going to be less excited sorry to her for the botherings that are about to happen).
