Sahara is a student at Jade Mountain Academy, where she would end of meeting a Seawing named Krait. She ends up befriending this Seawing and quickly gains a little crush on his kind, but different personality. Sahara try’s to make small indications of her feelings every now and then, but Krait being raised away from other dragons does not pick up on them. This becomes a bit annoying for Sahara, but it does not discourage her to keep trying.
For another personal project, I made the eye of onyx! The pictures don't do it's shine justice but it's super shiny. I'd wear it around on occasion but I don't think I'm qualified to be queen of the sandwings and I'd rather not be reduced to a pile of ash
So, one moment people started to talk about religious woftubers. Then I remembered smth and opened my old sketchbook... I think I opened the Pandora`s box
My Boox Palma came in the mail! I of course immediately changed the lockscreen to @starbitart's beautiful Aelin from Throne of Glass, which looks amazing even in grayscale.
The Palma is obviously phone sized, and has an e-ink display that's way better and more responsive than any Kindle I've used. Plus it runs Android 11, so you can actually have any app on the Google Play Store! You can literally watch Netflix on it if you want, though idk why you'd want to lmao. I have my favorite ebook and audiobook apps, plus Libby and Spotify! I love it so far and I'm soooo excited to read in bed more now that I have a small, ultra portable e-ink screen that won't hurt my eyes!
It doesn't have any SIM card compatibility so it isn't a phone, but you can definitely make WiFi calls with it, use Discord on it, etc. My day job involves working with social media a lot, so I might actually switch to this completely on some weekends or vacations where I'll have consistent wifi, just to take a bit of a break from my usual screen/apps/notifs. I know I can still download social media apps on the Palma, but it'll be WAY harder to fall into a social media hole on an e-ink screen.
Here's a short video of me opening various apps and settings if anyone's interested! The screen refresh (where it flips to a white screen and back) seems like a lot because I'm constantly opening and then closing apps in this video but as you can see when I'm scrolling in an app, it doesn't actually do that very often! It's not super noticeable when you're using it normally.
So I started reading Shadow and Bone. I'm in the middle of the second book and I quite like it, but what annoys me are the darkling's "quartz" eyes. If you write quartz, I'm thinking of this:
And that's just a weird color for eyes. Smoky quartz yes, but you've got to say that. Smoky quartz can look like that:
Why not use onyx
or obsidian?
tl;dr Get your gemstones right, if you're using them to describe a color. Unless I'm wrong and everyone is thinking of smoky quartz when they see quartz written as a color?
