Okay this is a very niche topic but going over what little I know about troglomorphism (i.e. animals adapting to a subterranean enivornment), I was kinda disappointed by the changes to pallid elves stopping at loss of pigment and black eyes. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I do like using real-life biology to spice up speculative biology, so here are some ideas on how to make pallid elves weirder:
- semitranslucent skin - elongated limbs/digits (probably slight due to relatively short time frame) - elongated bodies (also probably slight) - eye problems are a common feature of albinism in humans, so they probably apply here too. Don’t know how that interacts with solid-black eyes though. - slow metabolism (food is harder to find underground, so sleep more, move less, and you can eat less) - reduced need for oxygen (also feeds into slow metabolism) - bigger ears/possibly echolocation (some humans can do it, albeit very crudely compared to bats and whales) - sunburns. There is nothing protecting you from UV so you are taking damage every minute in the sun - circadian rhythm probably doesn’t align to diurnal/nocturnal stimuli even when those stimuli are introduced.

When writing the sea adventure for Wildemount I bet Matt didn't think people would steal a boat, declare war on the Concord and the Myriad, punch Fjord's Orphanage Old Asshole Guy, then ally themselves with Darktow and the Sahuagin for peace with Palma Flora but war on Port Damalli and the Myriad

Hey I have a question for my home game:
Is there such a thing as a news paper anywhere in Exandria? Like, I think Matt mentioned a paper boy back in C2, in Trostenwild maybe, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly. But basically I want to know if the books mention any type of information broadcast to the people or perhaps a news system

Why is Amazon offering "Campaign only" and "Adventure only" versions of the explorer's guide to Wildemount? Instinct says get both but also the less money goes to wotc the better and also doesn't it have both anyway??
ETA: To clarify, I have no desire to buy it from Amazon and every intention to avoid them as much as possible, but if it's a choice between them and WotC I might reconsider... Either way, I need an answer to my question before I put money down on anything xD

Talking to my Coworker About Factions I wanna use in Ruins of Avalir
Me: And then you've got the Wandermen's Assembly, which are described in the source material as ruthless capitalist assholes trying to make themselves look like an honorable brotherhood and failing miserably.
My Coworker: Oh, so a fraternity.

First time drawing any sort of anthropomorphic character, but I fell in love with the OC I created for my friends D&D campaign so I had to draw him! This is my Tabaxi Cleric boy named Arctic Mirror. He took me like 3 days to draw and I almost drew a background too but than I had to stop myself, I kept adding his weapons and items. I almost added a backpack too and a fire, but I just needed to draw my boy that’s it :P. Maybe one day I’ll push myself to make a more in-depth background and setting.
Also if you’re wondering we are doing one if the four Wildmount campaigns. Its called Frozen Sick and takes place in the realms of the Greying Wildlands and Eiselcross. We just made it to level 2 and I almost died instantly in the first fight we had in the story so that was scary lol. Wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Arctic yet, but to be honest I would’ve brought him back to life some other way. ;P
SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN THE CAMPAIGN WITH ME!
For those who want to know more of the background to Arctic Mirror, he is a Cleric of the Death Domain. Originally he was a believer in the Everlight goddess, but because of his recent death and reliving he is now a hollowed one. His powers don’t seem to come from Raei anymore and the dream he had when first waking up showed a strange man performing some sort of magic on him.
He was dead for at least a month, and his fur has turned white instead of the sandy brown it used to be, though his stripes stayed. His real name is Sun Rising Over A Cliff (AKA Cliff) but because of his change in appearance he decided to change his name. It helps also to keep anyone from recognizing him, especially his old comrades and family, who he doesn’t want to know of his failure.
He died as a soldier for the Kryn Dynasty, on patrol to take care of some Core Spawn. The patrol had no chance and was quickly overrun, and as healer Arctic (or Cliff) tried his best to take care of those in his squad, but there was nothing to be done. He went down as the pack leader attacked letting loose one final radiant blast.
He became a hermit when he first awoke, slightly losing his mind as he tried to deal with the loss of his comrades, and the goddess he had always had his faith in. He didn’t understand why he was chosen to live, when he had failed so miserably to keep any of the soldiers alive. The idea of returning to his family back in Rosohna was laughable, considering he didn’t want them to go through grieving for their son or brother, just for him to show up a different person with no guarantee he was really alive to begin with. How could they believe him?
P.S. I took inspiration from Cadwell from ESO so if anyone knows that guy, I appreciate you lol

I got a bone to pick with Asmodeus/Lord of the Hells saying he got "scraps" for his domain and implying he didn't ask for this life.
(Okay honestly great job Brennan for spinning things to sound relatable and, while not necessarily forgivable, at least understandable from a certain point of view.
Snippets From The Explorer's Guide to Wildemount
THE FOUNDING
"[The people] also looked up to their creators and gave them worship, gave them form, gave them title and purpose."
"Beneath the elements, unknown to the Creators beyond the ashen skies, lived ancient beings who had already claimed this world as their home: the Primordials."
"Thus was created a divide among the gods. Celestial sentinels once dedicated to battling the chaotic forces of the Abyss, now fell to hate and tyranny, forging new hells under a fallen angel now claiming lordship over all the realms of sulfur and brimstone."
THE LUXON
A single Light [later referred to as the Luxon (they/them)] came from dark nothingness, long before the gods came to shape Exandria. Other lights settled to burn like stars across the cosmos, but this one resisted. Chose a different path, seeking self-knowledge and wandering alone until they found a cold and dark rock
"The Light grew fond of this rock, seeing it as lonely as they were, and embraced it. They sparked a fire within, cracking the surface and giving life to the cold world.
From within the fiery core, the Light began to watch the world change and turn, the chaos giving birth to the first souls: the Primordials."
"The Light wanted to guide them to learn of themselves, which in turn would help the Light discover their own purpose. " Created beacons for that purpose, from their own essence, but that task exhausted the Luxon and they slept for a time at the core of the world.
The Primordials as the first souls.... wondering if anything overtly Luxon-related is going to come up in episode four.
