Idk...I'm running out of ideas and it's only my 2nd day being here. First year. Been awhile (+11 years)

Have:

-HD Camcorder(Vlogging, duh!)Phone and or Z981. Smartphone, DSLR(ish), DJI Pocket 2

-iPad(It looks awesome!)Almost never. Accomplished a year after, and in 2022 (M1 iPad Air -> M1 iPad Pro)

-Macbook(Pro)(same reason as iPad)Same reason as iPad. Acquired in college (15” Retina) Still uses the laptop, but lightly or while on the go. Good powerhouse for more than 7 years.

-DSLR(or even a good P&S)Z981, still need a DSLR. Acquired, but not heavily used. Maybe will invest in a mirrorless camera one day.

-Adobe Creative Suite. I have my ways to get it hehe.

-iMac(as a substitute for Macbook) Nah, I have a gaming desktop

-Tech Reviews. I have videos, never had the chance to post it on YouTube. I has slow upload speeds here at home. Check my channel. I have done a few, but I am not that great. I do have to plan out scripts so I can provide a cohesive review. Also, you managed to get gigabit internet after moving out (yes you did move out).

-Skits. Produce Videos with either friends or cousins. Skits will make us famous...and hope its not impromptu. Less skits, more gameplay and group play. Check channel

-Practice more on Photography. Close but no cigar. I’m surprisingly decent with both a smartphone camera (technology has improved a lot in the past 11 years) and a DSLR. I have learned the ways of at least taking a decent photo compared to others, that’s for sure.

After 10-15 seconds, Google will present a series of potential matches based on your input with quick links to the song on streaming services as well as related content like lyrics and music videos.

Like a version of Shazam, but beyond music, the search engine will – on command – answer queries like ’Who’s the lead actor in this show?’ or ‘Who directed this movie?’. By listening to your environment, it’s able to use sound to establish what you’re watching, and provide you with answers. Fast.

To make this a reality, you’d need a device with a sound recorder, making Google Home or Mobile essential. Chromecast could play a role too, but there’s no apparent reference to it in the patent.

The patent does list the types of content it will be able to carry this out for: movies, music, television shows, trailers, podcasts, images, artwork, books, magazines, internet video and video games. To get a similarly good result in today’s search, you’d need to add more meat to your query. For example, ‘Who’s the lead actor in T2 Trainspotting?’ or ‘Who directed T2 Trainspotting?’.

The difference is subtle, but what changes is the context (or environment). As the searcher, you will not need to know the name of the movie you’re watching before searching, for example.

Aside from the problem-solving that the patent authors depict, what I enjoy most is Google’s interest in us. This new solution has the potential to open up a whole new world of searches, which would typically require multiple research steps. Imagine being able to ask ‘what shoes is the actress wearing?’ or ‘what’s the name of the street they’re walking down?’ when watching a film. A welcome development for brands, I’m sure.

Despite how it might appear, however, Riku is at the top of his class for his grades. He takes his academics very seriously. Every assignment is done with precision and very thoroughly so that he can have the best marks amongst his peers.

In the good old war of Playstation versus Xbox, Riku prefers the Playstation. He has a PS4 and, when it comes out, he plans to save up to get a PS5.

Riku definitely picks out the colour of Sora’s braces rubber bands every time that Sora asks. Without fail, Riku always chooses bright aquamarine blue so that they match his eyes and so that every time Sora looks in a mirror and smiles he thinks of him.

He’s known as the strong, silent, mysterious crown prince of his school, but this holds true no matter what verse he is in.

Sometimes, he just sends them songs because he thinks that they’ll like them but other times he’ll send songs because they fit a certain situation or feeling. After all, music speaks when words fail.

Nail polish? Definitely. Riku’s nails are always painted solid black or dark blue to match the night sky. He paints them himself.

Riku doesn’t care for junk food much, but sometimes he helps himself to Oreos, cookies and cream ice cream, cheese and pineapple pizza, or some cool ranch Doritos. He prefers savoury to sweet, as a whole when it comes to his snacking habits.

All of the furniture in his room is black. The walls that are painted white are covered from top to bottom in vintage movie posters, album artwork from vinyl records, video game posters, band posters, you name it. His bedding is dark indigo blue with black, grey and white plaid accents. He has a bookshelf filled from top to bottom with his favourite vintage cds, video games, books, and a picture of him, his mom, and his dad from when he was five. His window has indigo blue curtains that have plaid details just like his bedding. His backpack resides on a hook near his bedroom door.

Riku has a beta fish that is black and blue that he has named Ansem because he reminds him of a ghostly spirit. Ansem sits in a fishbowl on Riku’s desk.

He absolutely loves movies, especially older movies. He loves classic things as a whole. His favourite movies include {but are not limited to by any means}: Jaws, Titanic, The Ring, Grease, West Side Story, The Breakfast Club, and {though it’s not completely vintage} Star Wars. He also likes movies that take places from vintage eras even if they aren’t filmed in that era like, Call Me By Your Name, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Love Simon, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and Across the Universe. He doesn’t have one specific movie type that he goes to more than others, but he is always drawn to movies based on books.

Q: When did you start streaming and why?

A: My first stream was on December 11, 2019, the same day I signed up on Twitch. It was a short test stream from my PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation 4 always had this "Broadcast" feature. At the time I first got the PlayStation 4, I had other in real life pursuits (if you've been on my blog since those days, you'll know that was taekwondo. I'd still like to get back to taekwondo, but we'll see). By December 2019, however, I had moved to a different country (big life change, I know, but one I very much looked forward to) and after spending just over two years mostly at home studying Dutch (yes, I moved to the Netherlands), I felt ready to try something different. I've been on the internet for years (pre-Facebook and pre-MySpace) and have always been interested in and willing to try new forms of social media. Broadcasting (a.k.a. "streaming") was different and I felt it was time to try something a bit more interactive (albeit, more public too) than just blogging, Tweeting, using mobile apps, and whatever else I used in the past (I had stopped using Facebook by this time, though I've started using it again mostly to help promote my Twitch channel).

There I was one day just taking a break from studying so much. From about a year before moving and for two years after moving, I barely touched the PS4. I needed a break and there were games I had on the backlog (I still have a backlog :) ) and there was that "Broadcast" feature still staring at me. I set up my Twitch account that day and once I figured out how to link the PlayStation to my Twitch channel, I did a short test stream. It was for about half an hour. The stream was never saved though (I didn't know I needed to turn that option on) and which game I first streamed will for now remain a mystery for my Twitch viewers (although you can find the stats online for that stream, it streamed to the wrong category accidentally - it's a PlayStation 4 thing).

Q: Why did you continue to stream?

A: It's like what it says on the About... part of my Twitch channel. "Watch me do the things I love and more", but also "Streaming is sharing; 'sharing is caring'". This is just who I am, I like to share the things I like and love. It's like that when I go out to eat dinner with people. I want to order them the food I like and love 'cause I want to share it. Although, there's also this perspective: if the person doesn't like the same food, that's fine with me too. That just means there's more of the stuff I love just for me. ;)

I also figured Twitch's interactive chatting could be a great way for me to practice Dutch (and other languages). Again, if you've been a reader of my blog for a while now, you'd know I've been learning Dutch for a while since before I moved to the Netherlands. After about a month or so on Twitch, I checked and found out there was a Duolingo category. I've been wanting to make language learning videos for a while now, but I didn't want to just make YouTube videos. Recording myself practicing speaking Dutch is a good way for me to judge how I'm doing and I could just do that by recording videos and uploading to YouTube, however, the big appeal for me about doing a Twitch stream is the interactive chatting for the languages. My chat is a multilingual chat even if some days my brain goes on cooldown and I can't even Engl-ish. :D

Of course, I like to meet people on Twitch. Twitch is social media, and that's what I like about social media. I've met some good people on there already. If I really feel a rapport with some people, it'd be nice to meet them in real life. Maybe even have a gaming night where we can sit, chill, be ourselves (not our Twitch selves, I mean), and have fun (maybe even practice talking in different languages too).

Q: Twitch is a monetization platform. Aren't you also trying to make money on there?

A: I think everyone would love to make money just doing the things they like and love. So, sure. Of course, I'm trying to make some money on Twitch as well, but it's not my biggest motivating factor for streaming on Twitch. I just like getting on Twitch and feeling like maybe I'm making a small difference somehow. Maybe someone sees me on there when they're having a bad day and it makes them feel better. Or maybe just knowing that there's always something to watch will make someone feel better about life. Who knows? All I know is the not knowing who I'll meet on Twitch is what keeps me going.

I guess that's easy for me to say. I'm at a point in my life where not everything is great but things feel relatively stable although my residence situation isn't permanent and I no longer have fuzzy-headed "meownsters" (a.k.a. cats) running around (they both died after we moved here; and yes, I brought my cats with me when I moved - I'd never leave them behind). As I mentioned earlier, I would love to get back to taekwondo again and I did do some taekwondo training streams on Twitch. Sadly, I need a bigger living space than I currently have or I need to rent space or buy some other space I could use. Nate, my boyfriend and common-law partner, has been very supportive of my die-hard "work to live" not "live to work" personality. In the past, I worked to make ends meet and tried to "live to work". It wasn't a great life, although I was trying my best. I even had a job as a law clerk which I loved but circumstances out of my control and my boss' control changed that. I felt like life was really trying to tell me something. I was doing things wrong. Not that it's wrong for people to work. It was wrong for me - that whole "rat race". This was about the time I met Nate. After that, he supported my decision (in fact, he encouraged it) to just focus on my taekwondo training. Without his help, I'm not sure I would've been able to continue with the training because of the training fees. Now I'm on Twitch and it feels natural to me (the sharing part, I mean, I don't think I'm the most entertaining or interactive person on Twitch - I'm more of a "get things done" person than "super chatty all the time" person) like I should've been doing something like this all along. It would eventually be nice to make some money on there so I could contribute to the living expenses Nate and I have. Although with Nate, I know this isn't necessary, it's just how I feel about it.

Q: You mentioned games (it's Twitch, so obviously), languages, and taekwondo. What else do you stream on Twitch? And do you have plans for other content?

A: I've also done a few cooking streams. I've been a bit busy looking for a new home to move to, but when I get a chance to I'll try to do another cooking stream sometime. Before the coronavirus lockdowns happened, I intended to do streams outside in the city. I moved to Amsterdam and it really is a great city. It's one of my cities now. :D I'm originally from Toronto, Canada and I've been to New York City before which just felt like a bigger version of Toronto so I felt at home there in a way. Amsterdam is a bit different than both, but in a way I like and need - needed. I love this city so far. So it's one of my cities - those cities being Toronto, Amsterdam, and New York City. Don't mess with any of my cities. I'll send my NinjaBots after you. (Just jokes from my Twitch channel.) Anyway, yes. I plan to do streams out in the city. I'm not sure how that's going to work. We'll see. I'm just not confident we're not heading into The Corona Years - Year 3.

Q: What's your streaming philosophy? How do you view Twitch as a social media platform?

A: This is what I said on my Twitter: "A Twitch stream is the equivalent of an open house party in real life where the channel is the streamer's Twitch home. As streamers, we need to remember that like an open house party, the streams are public and we should conduct ourselves accordingly. As for my streaming philosophy, it's always been simple. I'm awake, I'm dressed, I'm doing something interesting (well, interesting to me) that I want to share, let's turn on the mic and camera. Though at first for the games, I didn't really want to use a camera (Nate convinced me to try it) and sometimes I still don't use a camera. I have days when I'm tired and feeling lazy, but I still want to hammer through more of a game. It's just much easier for me to concentrate on the game if I'm relaxed and not worried about how I look on camera. In keeping with that philosophy of being "awake and dressed, let's turn on the mic and camera", it also means that I like to be able to stream from wherever whenever. I stream from a variety of devices/machines including my mobile phone, Chromebook, the PS4, and the PS5. I feel that if I rely only on my one laptop or that one PC tower to stream, then I'm going to have days where I'm not going to stream 'cause I have to go set up on that laptop or PC tower.

Q: Is that why your streams look... simple?

A: If you mean that I don't have tons of overlays and sound alerts and such... yes, that is why. I like the simple layout and simple setup. For my language streams, it was starting to take a half hour to get set up. It really cuts into the productive time and not necessarily worth it (in my opinion). My streams are about me and the content. Anything else is just distraction, and I want my viewers to watch the content I'm putting out. The content I'm sharing is stuff I like and want to share and it's part of who I am. For those paying attention and those who are perceptive, they'll see that that's me on there (with or without the camera and mic on - I mostly have the mic on, but late at night I might not) and hopefully they can appreciate that. Plus, I think there's room on Twitch for just being yourself. No gimmicks. Just me and whatever I happen to be doing. When I'm streaming, I'm sharing part of my life. It's real not made up. I am who I am.

This is also why I don't use any special filters on my mic. I have a pop filter attached to the mic, that's it. I like my streams sounding full of life, even if it means those loud European sirens (they are seriously loud, tons louder than in Toronto) and motorists with loud engines are heard on stream (though I have on occasion just muted the mic temporarily). Also, if I stream from my phone while outside I can't do much about filtering the sound. It's going to sound much different than if I was at home with special filters on. For some kind of consistency, I figure let's just leave it alone. Like I said, I'm sharing my life, loud sirens and loud engines included. :D

Q: Do you have issues with privacy? How are you handling that?

A: feyMorgaina is my internet personality and has been for years. Sure, I have my private moments. Things I feel don't need to be shared onstream or even online, but I'm generally a fairly open person even in real life. Though in some real life situations, I may be more reserved. It depends - usually on the people I'm meeting. It's always felt much easier to be more outgoing on the internet. If you're wondering about my real identity, well... luckily, no one's tried to dox me yet. I mostly have to be careful not to dox myself. :D But yes, privacy was something I thought about carefully before deciding to stream. I think if you're real smart, you can probably find me in real life, but I think the average person isn't going to go to that much trouble. I'm certainly not popular enough. Plus, I did mention taekwondo training, right? ;)

Q: What do you do when you're not streaming?

A: Lately, it's been trying to find a new home. Otherwise, I spend time with Nate or just chill and do things I don't stream like read this book I've had on the backburner for ages, watch a movie or TV show, listen to some music. I recently cut my stream schedule back by one day. I've pretty much kept a five days a week stream schedule from the beginning, but now I need a bit of a break. I've been thinking of getting back into blogging again or maybe sitting down and actually working on a short story. When it comes to writing fiction, I get ideas for big stories, like a whole universe/world, but I think I should try something smaller just to see if I can focus enough to do it. I've had an idea for a long time of writing a bunch of short stories for a compilation. Perhaps I just need to sit down and do it already.

I found it interesting that Sony and Microsoft decided to release “secondary” versions of their main next-gen consoles (the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S, respectively). Their attempts to offer a “budget” next-gen option feels not only feel valuable during tough times but reminded me of the Nintendo Switch Lite: a console I haven’t really heard a lot about since it was released in 2019.

As it turns out, the Nintendo Switch Lite has been doing very well. In fact, there is a chance that the Nintendo Switch Lite alone will have outsold the Wii U by the time you read this.

That information tells us two very important things. First off, while we don’t know how successful the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S will be in the long-run, Nintendo has already proven that the Switch brand is strong enough to support two pieces of hardware without negatively impacting the overall success of the brand.

More importantly, the success of the Switch Lite shows that even when you remove one of the Switch’s core pieces of functionality (the ability to play games on a TV as well as in handheld mode), people will still buy it. That leads us to the most important element of the Nintendo Switch’s success…

By comparison, only one PS4 exclusive has sold over 20 million units on record (Marvel’s Spider-Man) and only one Xbox One exclusive (Halo 5) has sold over 8 million units.

If you buy into the idea that exclusives still sell consoles, then it’s clear Nintendo is on another level in terms of exclusive sales. This all feeds into the idea that there is clearly a lot of people out there who feel they have to own a Nintendo Switch for at least one game.

Nintendo Switch is Remarkably Immune From Nintendo’s Mistakes

We’ve spoken about it before, but it’s hardly a stretch to suggest that Nintendo does things their own way. While that’s sometimes a good thing, it also results in Nintendo making some very stupid decisions.

Here’s what’s really interesting, though. If you look at the pure numbers, it seems that Nintendo’s biggest mistakes have very little impact on the Nintendo Switch.

Do you hate how Nintendo Switch Online features a limited library of classic titles? Nintendo Switch Online is a proven money maker. Were you annoyed by Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ limited release structure? It’s already sold over 8 million units. Did you think that Pokemon’s long-awaited Switch debut failed to live up to expectations? Well, Sword and Shield are already the best-selling Pokemon games since Gold and Silver.

Even the infamous issues with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons doesn’t seem to have impacted the Switch’s hardware sales in a meaningful way. The Switch just keeps trucking along.

How the Cyberpunk 2077 Best Buy Debacle Became Another Next-Gen Sales Failure for Retailers

The lead up to the release of the long-awaited sci-fi RPG epic Cyberpunk 2077 has been anything but smooth sailing. Originally announced all the way back in 2012, CD Projekt Red’s follow-up to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has suffered several delays, and not all of them due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most recently, reports of poor working conditions at the developer shed light on the dark side of a studio that originally promised it would not turn to development crunch and mandatory overtime to finish the game. Then another delay came, pushing the game from its November launch date to December. The most toxic members of the game’s “fanbase” immediately responded by sending death threats too several of the studio’s employees.

Now, with the Dec. 10 release date now looming, people are ready to direct their attention to the game itself. Cyberpunk 2077 has been marketed as CD Projekt Red’s most sprawling and engaging open-world game yet, an immersive experience full of stories and colorful characters set in a neon-drenched city. What we’ve seen so far in the cinematic trailers and gameplay walkthroughs seems very promising.

But just as CD Projekt Red was preparing to finally take whatever was left of its victory lap, Best Buy completely dropped the ball. On Wednesday, fans who pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 from the retailer started receiving their copies in the mail, more than a week ahead of the game’s launch. It’s a mistake that will likely lead to many more story leaks hitting the internet before most players have even had a chance to unwrap the game.

Even before Best Buy broke the street date, unauthorized footage of the game had already found its way online, and the leaks will only get worse now that a portion of players have their copies and aren’t embargoed until a specific date like members of the press and content creators usually are. You should probably refrain from looking up Cyberpunk 2077 on Reddit if you’re trying to avoid spoilers.

“We’re getting closer and closer to launch and chances are some of you will get your hands on a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 before release day,” CD Projekt Red wrote on Twitter on Wednesday after fans began posting their Best Buy copies of the game online. “However difficult this might be for us to achieve, our ambition is for gamers all across the world to have the same spoiler-free experience at the time the game releases.”

The studio also suggested in the message to fans that it would take down streams and videos that popped up online before Dec. 9 at 6 am ET. A quick look at the Cyberpunk 2077 page on Twitch reveals that streamers are following this directive, at least for the moment. But Twitch is hardly the most cavalier social platform on the internet, especially now that it’s aggressively enforcing copyright and DMCA violations.

Regardless of how the inevitable leaks play out, the Best Buy debacle is yet another bad mark on the record for retailers who have continuously struggled to serve gamers during the busiest shopping season of the year. While the Cyberpunk 2077 situation could maybe be blamed on the fact that the actual release date has changed so many times this year, undoubtedly making matters more confusing, this game’s launch is hardly the worst offense on the part of retailers.

The next-gen console launches for both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 have been nothing short of a nightmare. Consoles have gone missing, scalpers are reselling consoles for two to three times the price, and these are mole hills when compared to how difficult it is to find retailers that actually have these consoles in stock. While part of the responsibility has to be put squarely on Microsoft and Sony’s shoulders for launching consoles in the middle of a pandemic that clearly limited their ability to actually meet consumer demand, retailers didn’t make the experience of pre-ordering one of these consoles any easier.

As gamers scrambled to secure their consoles on the first day of PS5 and Xbox Series X pre-orders in September, several retailer sites went down throughout the process, their servers buckling under the weight of so many new visitors. In some cases, retailers like Walmart and Best Buy let you add a console to your cart but wouldn’t let you actually check out. Others wouldn’t let people add consoles to their cart at all even though the listing said it was still in stock. Even the Microsoft Store itself went down during the initial Xbox Series X pre-order window.

Those who were lucky enough to pre-order a console didn’t all make it to launch day unscathed. Amazon, for example, had to send out emails to some customers to let them know that their console might not ship in time for launch. Unfortunately, to add insult to injury, it seems some scalpers who employed bots to buy their next-gen stock did receive their consoles on time.

The point is that retailers were incredibly ill-prepared for these launches and are still struggling to recover. And for Best Buy, its latest Cyberpunk 2077 flub is just the cherry on top. Yet, despite the fact that customers may have quite the laundry list of complaints about the user experience at these retail sites, stores like Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon ultimately still made their money, as both Microsoft and Sony reported record-breaking launch numbers. With sales better than ever, do these retailers really need to worry about fixing their most egregious issues for the next go around? After all, even scalper money is still money.

As many places around the world head into another lockdown due to the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths, gamers still searching for a PS5 or Xbox Series X should probably brace themselves for a cold winter without a next-gen console. But if you were one of the lucky few who pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 from Best Buy, perhaps you can find a little solace in that.
