spent like 6 hours going through the depp v heard case and i am just so fucking soulless at this point. started out neutral but vaguely pro-depp bc social media osmosis but after again 6 HOURS of digging thru the weeds and actually reading up on it i’ve realized thats fucking insane
it's 2:50 am and I'm watching ride the cyclone as my best friend lays next to me watching swinging space age bachelor man going "I hope I'm hallucinating from sleep deprivation right now"
something ive noticed a lot in the broadway community is that fans REFUSE to give any sort of freedom or grace to new actors in roles that they like. if you really do prefer the original, cool! dont literally get mad at their replacement for existing! if u love this actor so much u should let them move onto other projects without insulting the people who come and take their place. i hate the phrase 'no one will ever be as good as the og' and things similar, because literally any of these actors could have also been the og if they had been in the right place at the right time. would you have preferred them if that were the case?
for example, the amount of ppl who DESPISE west end heathers is insane cause like of course it isnt exactly the same as off-broadway? i like both productions for different reasons but it rly feels like most people are so closed-minded when it comes to other casts.
ive also seen SO much hate on elizabeth teeter ( i think thats her name?) as lydia. she is not sophia. she KNOWS that. she is not trying to be sophia. there is no point in constantly comparing the two (especially when elizabeth literally stated she did not want to be compared).
i just want to enjoy other actors and productions without being flooded with people who won't even give them a chance. also, if u want to do the show so bad, u have to accept that YOUR cast wouldn't be 'as good as the og' either. would u be okay with the same amount of comparison? of course they aren't the same. they are DIFFERENT PRODUCTIONS???
in all seriousness, i think the transmasc mischa headcanon's popularity can at least partially be attributed to the common experience of a hypermasculine phase that a lot of transmasc people (particularly those who ended up identifying as nonbinary or otherwise gender non-conforming) experienced. the fact that mischa is a masculine character who not only has hidden depth and vulnerability but explicitly confesses that he uses his own hypermasculinity in order to shield himself from it is something that really resonates with me, as a transmasc who did the exact same thing in my early teens. it's not an experience that's exclusive to trans people - obviously, seeing as mischa was (assumedly) intended to be cis, and gender roles n their complications are equally harmful to cis people - but it's one that is easy for some of us to identify with.

I LOVE your makeup, it’s definitely one of my favorite Jane doe looks I’ve seen by far
Ahhh thank you so much! Still experimenting with the best shape for the cracks, but I just switched to a darker eye pencil and it seems to be popping out more tonight! 👻 🖤
just realized the typo on the caption bwahahha *kinda 🤪
just a hypothesis .. maybe the reason constance is so underrated is because her most popular actor is the one in that cast with the most mature voice and looks, at least in the bootleg. its harder to really grasp the situation u know?? idk constance is one of my favorites but im kinda biased towards younger casts of her cause then it actually feels so real.
not to say that lillian isnt AMAZING cause she is but like it is obvious she is a full grown adult. in my opinon most of the other actors could pass for teenagers i think (at least onstage). emily also has a really mature face/voice but it makes sense for her character since yk. her head and voice probably isnt hers.
thats also why im so partial to gus halpers mischa is cause. he does pass for a senior. a very hot senior sure but the longer hair, his voice, the way he moves all contribute to him feeling younger. i really dont like most other mischa castings especially when theyve got like. full beards???? cause obviously it doesnt feel the same??? that is a man
idk i just really like this show when its done by actual highschool or college students cause then you can really understand that these are 17-18 year olds going through all this!!! and i think that ESPECIALLY applies to constance talking about her virginity cause she was so young and people kind of forget that.
