Resulta interesante ver cómo a jonghyun le afectaban tanto los aromas en su vida diaria.
Es una de las muchas cosas que muchos de nosotros no le damos importancia, pero él sí debido a su sensibilidad con los aromas y las escencias.
En una entrevista, en diciembre del 2016, dijo que el aroma de su primer mini album de colección, Story Op. 1 (2015), podría ser el olor a "madera".
Ese es el aroma que contiene el perfume característico de Jonghyun que usó por, aproximadamente, 9 años de su vida llamado Voyage D'Hermes, que he tenido la capacidad de adquirir y oler.
En mi opinión es el aroma que más define a Jonghyun.
No es fuerte, ni muy suave, no es invasivo pero si persistente.
Puedo arriesgarme a decir que define su personalidad, porque él siempre ha sido una persona tranquila fuera del escenario.
Pero estoy de acuerdo con él. Ya que los álbumes de la colección se basan en su vida y en sus experiencias, es evidente que tendrán un aroma similar a lo que conforma su persona.
Siguiendo sobre los aromas en general, como un aficionado de las velas aromáticas al igual que Jonghyun, puedo decir que he encontrado comodidad en ellas.
Tiendo a prender una vela aromática cuando estoy estresado, cuando necesito despejarme de estudiar o cuando necesito olvidarme del día agotador que tuve.
Él también tenía esos hábitos, y me he sentido acompañado por ello.
En la novela escrita por él, llamada Skeleton Flower [...], se puede leer un fragmento que describe una conversación con una de las protagonistas de la novela con un ídolo reconocido.
La entrevista se basa en la vida personal del artista, y de hecho, este artista era Jonghyun, pero nunca se dan nombres específicos aunque él lo haya confirmado.
"[...] Me gusta la calidez y la oscuridad. Para mí, encender las velas y el tocadiscos es un ritual inconsciente que me dice 'este es el final del día'." Explica el personaje que retrata una parte de Jonghyun en la novela.
La comodidad de Jonghyun y su capacidad de expresar han dado lugar a la creación de la canción principal de Story Op. 1 llamada "하루의 끝 End of a day".
Esta canción, aparte de estar llena de historias y momentos de su vida diaria, fue juntada con las historias de los oyentes de Blue Night, nombre de la radio donde Jonghyun fue DJ desde 2014 hasta principios del 2017.
Él se preocupó por entender como era la vida de sus oyentes que no tenían su mismo estilo de vida, quienes no eran ídolos y que, por ejemplo, tenían trabajos de oficina con horarios fijos. "Ya es tarde y, cuando acabamos tarde el día, podemos estar cansados o pasándolo mal y, siempre que eso ocurre, pienso en varias cosas, así que escribí la letra (de End of a day)."
"Que yo esté aquí al final del día de alguien, que haya alguien aquí al final de mi día. Siempre pienso de repente que eso es algo tan maravilloso." Él dice en una emisión de Blue Night por allá de febrero del 2015.
Nunca he visto ni conocido a alguien como Jonghyun, alguien que le importe tanto las cosas cotidianas de la vida y piense en los pequeños detalles lo suficiente para compartir su comodidad con los demás.
Es increíble que algo tan simple como la rutina de alguien se haya convertido en la comodidad de mucha gente, y es fabuloso que tan sólo una historia haya dado lugar a muchas más.
