The fact the bear is being judged by season 1, managed to break a 23 yo record, win 10 awards and in September we have the emmys again oh I know those comedy tv shows are already tired of them

So why are people not up in arms about Succession being categorized as drama?

I’m actually not a The Bear fan who is twisting myself in knots trying to justify it as a comedy. I came to terms with that. I simply just kind of don’t care anymore. When I describe the show to people I do say it’s a drama as the primary descriptor. If we talk more deeply I say it’s also extremely funny. To me, I would still consider it a drama of the dark dramedy variety, but still primarily drama. I acknowledge me thinking of it as deeply funny drama. But instead of siding with the moral outrage of the show being submitted in the comedy categories, and maybe due to my fan bias, I just don’t care. If they submitted it and the voters felt it was the best in the category submitted, what the fuck ever. I'm happy they won.

But what does bother me is how nobody is up in arms about Succession being classified as drama. I don’t watch the show but every clip I’ve seen leaves me laughing hysterically. And this isn’t the first media mention I’ve seen that describes it as a dark comedy or satire. So at the end of the day we have one show that won big in comedy and one show that won big in drama and maybe they could have been in the opposite category. So what does it matter? Both were submitted to the same voting bodies and won.
