^^^ Be careful how you word things in Alabama!
Be even more careful how you vote. The only way to protect reproductive freedom is to Vote Democratic.
Spending all your rent money at a casino is a better bet than voting for a third party. At least at the casino you have a remote chance of success.

tl;dr: The bill doesn't actually say anything about embryos but "is designed to protect doctors, clinics and other health care personnel who provide IVF treatment and services by offering such workers civil and criminal 'immunity.'”
In other words, the Alabama legislature has said that it's okay to murder children (according to their own definition of "children") as long as they're not in a uterus.

If frozen embryos are children, then doesn't that also mean sperm are children? So, every single dirty republikkkan that masturbates into a sock or whatever, is also a child murderer.

KOSA Bill. In three days, the bill will either pass or be disgarded. Please reblog and sign petitions. to help stop the bill by going to the stop kosa tag so we can not let the bill pass!
The definition of not safe for work content that would be censored under KOSA is vague and would of course target the LGBT community.

Alabama today
Alabama earlier this month
"But kids in the Gulf States won’t see any of those funds this summer. In Louisiana and Mississippi, state leadership declined to expand the program. Alabama missed the deadline to set aside funds for their half of the expansion, which would have totaled millions of dollars.
About a third of families living below the poverty line in America suffer from food insecurity, research from the USDA shows. In Louisiana and Mississippi, the rate is higher than the national average.
Carol Gundlach is a senior policy analyst for Alabama Arise, a nonprofit that focuses on people living in poverty. She said that while food insecurity affects poor people the most, Black families are impacted more heavily.
“In Alabama, 14% of Alabama households had reported in October that they sometimes, or often, did not have enough food to eat,” Gundlach said. “21% of Black households in Alabama — and these are families with children specifically — reported they didn’t have enough to eat sometimes or often.”

Skim-rewatching Alien: Covenant on Disney+ and I just think it’s hilarious that Walter and Daniels seem to be the only two people on that ship who have any brain cells. (Tennessee later has brain cells though so I can’t judge him too much) Like “oh yes, let’s go completely off-course on the mission we’ve spent a decade planning because there’s a sketchy transmission from a nearby planet” - at least in the first Alien, the crew were sort of like “wait it’s a distress call, someone’s in trouble” and it’s the company policy to check out any distress signals, whereas here it’s like “meh we don’t want to go back into hypersleep and this planet is eerily similar to Earth, we could end the mission early!”
Also, I definitely get the feeling that Oram doesn’t like Walter because he’s an android - Oram is portrayed as a man of religion/devout faith, which in itself is not a bad thing by the way, but the fact is that Christians believe God created humans, and I feel there’s a belief there that humans shouldn’t be playing God by creating synthetics. I don’t know, it just seems like the rest of the crew (Karine included) seem to be cool with Walter, like Tennessee/Faris/Daniels invite him to drink with them and the rest don’t seem to really have a problem with him, meanwhile Oram speaks to Walter really angrily - when he questions Walter about what happened regarding the neutrino burst, it has the vibe of “why didn’t YOU and MUTHR pick it up sooner? That’s YOUR job, that’s the only reason you’re here”. Or maybe I’m just projecting my own headcanons onto the film at this point since Ridley hasn’t given us a sequel yet and probably never will, who knows?
Anyway, the best characters in this film will always be Walter, Daniels and Tennessee, with Faris being a runner up simply because she died so early on and we didn’t get to see more of her (but what we saw was kick-ass, ngl). And because Ridley hasn’t given us a sequel, I’m going to ignore the ending and continue believing that the film ended with Walter and Danny building a log cabin together and being in love :)

Why the Alabama Supreme Court Declared that Frozen Embryos Are Children
“Even before birth, all human beings have the image of God, and their lives cannot be destroyed without effacing his glory.”
– Alabama Chief Justice Tom Parker
He is apparently not aware of the separation of church and state...

who’s ready to get fucking canceled EVEN FUCKING WORSE
the whole “enclaves built on mawmouths made out of the innocents we sacrificed to get to the top which go on killing other people’s children so our children can be comfortable” bit is a better analogy for capitalism’s dependence on abortion than it is for whatever Novik intended

What Is Bodily Autonomy?
Almost everyone has an idea of what their body should be like, of what features they're most comfortable having, what physical characteristics they are (or would be) happy to have.
At the least people tend to know what they don't want, what they aren't comfortable with, what makes them unhappy.
If you dig down into your concept of what your own body should be, you'll likely find that it's not a single solid thing. It has many parts—at least as many parts as your body has parts—and sometimes it can change.
What you want in your arms, for instance, may differ depending on where you are and what you're doing (if you're modeling you probably want a different type of arm to the one you want if you're dangling off a bridge and need to pull yourself to safety, for instance). What's flexible and what isn't varies from person to person.
Bodily autonomy is the right to make your body be as much like what you want it to be as it's possible for it to be.
It's the right to pierce your ears if (and only if) you want to; to get a tattoo or have one removed without anyone stopping you; to go through the puberty of your choice; to bulk up or slim down without anyone stepping in and saying you can't because they don't want you to; to split your tongue or dye your sclera if that's what makes you happy; to stop anyone who'd do that to you against your will—to alter your body as much as you want; to protect your body from any alteration you don't want.
It's your right to your own body, and its boundaries only end where the boundaries of another person's body begin.
