Note
Error and Ink are a large family.
Do they all live in the same house? Must be chaos.
They do!
However, Error prefers to spend time alone in the Anti-Void. Despite that, his children are capable enough to travel to the Anti-Void on their own.
Ink prefers to take care of them in the Doodle Sphere. He is a somewhat a lively but inept parent about taking care over others due to his lack of soul, but he took it upon himself to provide basic needs to them when they were children, and protect them from the clutches of the aggressive ones.
Gradient and Paper Jam were the first, Spilled and Ekon are younger, although they does not seem 'cause they are all about the same height.
Tumblr media
Mod: It should be noted that all this is headcanon trying to resemble the canon as much as possible. I'm sorry I can't bring a picture, I was very busy. I will try to bring the answers more often, promise!

Braiding is an important part of Onisonan culture. It is a way of showing trust and love to a person. This activity is usually partaken with close friends, family, and acquaintances. It is a way to say, “ I trust you with a part of me that is tied to my appearance and that you will do a good job on it”. It is also a way to get to talk to people. One of the most common ways to say “may I talk to you” or “can we talk” is by asking, “ Can I do your braids?” Depending on the tone it could be anything between catching up to gossip. Braiding brings Onisonan together and is also a great way for them to practice with their hand, as handiwork is crucial in their culture.

sewer
On Ao3.
Summary: "Why did you save me?” His voice was still harsh. The Ekon chuckled, his pale-blue eyes wandered over to the hunter. “Because where would I be in this world without you?”
Based on prompt from @seaside-writings
The sewers filled with the painful roar. A sharp thud echoed between the walls. Then an angry, inhuman wail, and then at last, the lesser-Vulkod felt.
Finally, the hunter was able to catch his breath, and so did the Ekon.
McCullum pushed himself into sitting, the pain in his back still echoed. With careful eyes, he watched as the blackness swirled around Jonathan's body, then it slowly melted into him, like it was part of him. He had the opportunity to see this phenomenon more than once through his hunts, and in most those case he was convinced he barely got out there alive. "Why did you save me?” His voice was still harsh.
The Ekon chuckled, his pale-blue eyes wandered over to the hunter. “Because where would I be in this world without you?”
McCullum rolled his eyes, but didn't stand up. His coat was stuck to his left arm. His entire side felt numb, his sword lying a few steps away from him. He followed Jonathan's path in silence, even after so many fights he was not able to understand the Ekon.
"My evenings would be boring, if I don't have to run away from Priwens in addition to Ascalon. And, of course, I would really miss our constant verbal jousting." Jonathan stepped in front of him and extended his hand. He waited for a couple of seconds. "Let me help you up, no one can see you here to think that you are going soft on the leeches."
McCullum grunted strong enough to make himself wince. "Shut up." Still, he either didn’t know why, but he accepted the vampire's hand.
"Good, you didn't get hurt that much, however, your arm still needs to get cleaned and stitched up."
"Yeah, yeah. First, I need to get out of this place." Geoffrey picked up his sword from the ground.
They glanced at the creature's corpse. Numerous gunshot and cut marks covered the now still body. No one could tell how long it had been nesting beneath Whitechapel, or how many victims it had over the weeks, or even months.
"They're becoming reckless." Jonathan didn't even notice that he was forced to swallow. Around them, the chamber was filled with the smell of fresh blood.
"Yeah. Let's get out from here."
"As you wish." They began walking back on the track they came from. As always, he walked before the hunter, and made sure McCullum was able to follow him even when they were in complete darkness.
They felt worn stones under the soles of their shoes, and in the distance, they could hear the soft trickling sounds of a canal. Somewhere a rat was scratching around searching for trash.
"How long until we get out?" McCullum's stomach twitched nervously with each step. His sense of time felt off, just like his internal compass.
"Not much."
The hunter's fingers found something in the darkness, he immediately grabbed the hilt of his sword with his right hand.
"It's just me." Jonathan's voice sounded closer, and Geoffrey could swear the leech was smiling with satisfaction.
"Stop playing around."
"Oh, I'd never do such improper things with the leader of the Guard of Priwen."
The hunter scoffed, but couldn't really suppress the smile. The Ekon's style really started to grow on him. The worst part was that this fact didn't even bother him. "A well-mannered leech." Geoffrey rolled his eyes in the complete darkness. "You were really a posh back then, when we've first met too."
"I was quiet fortune to be raised in a wealthy family, yes. Although, you wouldn't believe me how many etiquette lessons I had to take." His voice seemed closer.
The hunter swallowed coughing a bit. "Really? Learning all those fancy words and where to place the spoons, I suppose."
Jonathan chuckled. "Sitting straight, making sure to use the appropriate word with the proper intonation."
"I bet you learned all the rules and even followed them to the letter when you were a kid. Acting like a true posh gentleman, and never crossing the line." McCullum tried to hold back the edge in his voice, which always appeared when he talked about the rich.
"Well, I-"
Faint sliver of light appeared in from the end of the canal, revealing the Ekon’s silhouette. He was standing barely a step away from McCullum. Geoffrey’s heart skipped a beat, and all of a sudden, he felt very vulnerable. He didn't even realize when Reid got this closer to him.
The echoes of footsteps came from the distance. "It must be the others." He said finally managing to find his voice.
"Yes, I'm afraid. It's better, if I go on a different exit."
McCullum swallowed back the words he wanted to say, and only nodded. As the light got closer, he was able look into the Ekon's eyes.
"But before that." Jonathan lowered his voice. "I didn't give you, my answer."
"What are you-"
"I did cross some lines time to time." He leaned closer until their lips met.
Geoffrey froze in his place, his mind filled with thoughts, his heart hammering from a dazzling mix of emotions. A second later everything in his head quieted down and with a trembling lip he kissed back.
It was an awkward, unexpected kiss, but still filled with emotion and lust. Neither of them dared to move closer or away for a second. That moment stretched as long as it was able to, before reality managed to take its cruel hold again. He was looking into those icy-blue eyes and they were looking back at him with hunger, but not for blood.
"You-"
"I have to go." The Ekon vanished.
The light shined at McCullum, he knew his men yelled something as they approached him, but for a couple of seconds he only was able to hear his own heartbeat in his ears.

Geoffrey holds his own demons. Conjured his own methods.
I got approached today with a question on how I pin Geoffrey's judgements on vampires as a whole. That they seemed confused on my take if he was brainwashed or not. As if I were putting the blame of his actions on Carl Eldritch alone.
The answer to that is yes and no. Geoffrey witnessed a horrible event occur to his family at a very young age. He's trauma riddled. He watched the brutality his father inflicted onto his mother first hand when he returned home a vampire. To Geoffrey, his father was no more than a beast. A monster. The same could be said for his brother when the time came to finally strike him down after nearly a two and a half year hunt. So with what Carl Eldritch then fed him about leeches made perfect sense. All of it aligned to what he first hand saw, as woe inflicted as he had been. Eldritch aided in solidifying those thoughts on a boy already damaged. To not acknowledge he took advantage of the circumstance is an error in itself. Though Carl did embolden such ideals into his head and fed in on the verge of fanaticism with his own teachings and oaths at command. Geoffrey leapt at them as unwavering truths. He saw the boy as a tool to mold. He was not lovingly thrusted into a settling adoption. He was nabbed into a form of servitude. Not that Geoffrey could comprehend the extent of it at the time .
Yet he grew to enjoy invoking what slowly gratified as vengeance. It helped ease his own pain. Which is why most hunts he becomes a part of is passionately acclimated as if he took umbrage. Because he kind of does. That isn't to say he didn't regret taking his brother's life when the time came. No matter how hard he tries convincing himself otherwise -- that it was no longer his brother. That the beast only wore his face. Ian was his first and hardest kill. One that still haunts him. Still struggling in coming to terms with , what he at the time , deemed as trickery when hunting his kin. Mist and mirrors. All those pleas that echo in his nightmares. Was but a ruse he would retell himself amid mantra time and time again. It isn't until his introduction to Jonathan Reid that things really start to turn upside down for him. Reid's whole existence is a huge enigma to McCullum. The Ekon changes everything. He is the prime instigator in only making Geoffrey's nightmares worse. Except now those deeply residing questions tend to fester. Conceiving guilt bound doubt. This is but a glimpse of his cognizance over Vampirism. So yes. He holds his own hatred bound tightly to his chest like an anchor. Formulated into deeply rooted knots from his own trauma.
However -- he was also taken advantage of by an acclaimed savior. Fed the fanatic side of an organization. A man he looked up to despite all the harsh trials he was subjected to, or the lack of a loving hand beneficial to a child in desperate need. Carl Eldritch made him into the man he is today, hardened his spirit into the warrior most have come to fear. For that he was grateful to him in more ways than he could ever express. But he was a warrior with an under current of turbulence. Unchecked trauma still germinating within makes him just as much of borderline beastly with his antics as the monsters he hunts. That too, was the fault of Carl Eldritch. If not the intended design.

The Beginner's Guide to McReid
I am once again diving into the world of McReid fanfic, because the Vampyr fandom has some of the best, most intensely erotic vampire slash. There's some insanely talented writers out there, many monster/vampire afficionados are missing out on because it's in a relatively obscure video game. You guys don't even have to have played the game to enjoy it, I swear, as long as you're into powerplay, angst, dominance and enemies to lovers (or enemies to worse enemies), bloodplay, vampire turning, all the good vampire shit.
Here, I made a quick summary for you guys who are not gamers, but want to enjoy the fic with minimal confusion: Jonathan Reid is a doctor, famous for his research into blood transfusions. He returns to London from the front of the first world war, in order to help combat the Spanish flu epidemic currently ravaging the city. On his way, he is mysteriously turned into a vampire. Right after is where the game starts. We, as players, and himself, don't know how and why. A big part of the game plot is finding it out, but I won't spoil it for those who want to play the game, and as the majority of fics take place before he finds out, or after the game ends, when it's no longer relevant.
Anyways, he is turned, and in his fledgling bloodlust, he accidentally drains and kills his beloved sister. He is hunted through the city by the Guard of Priwen, an organisation of vampire hunters, unaware of his new condition, confused and scared, when he is rescued by Edgar Swansea. Edgar Swansea is a major nerd and a member of the Order of the Stole of Saint Paul, another organisation intend on the study of the supernatural. He informs Jonathan about his new nature, and offers him a sanctuary at the hospital he is overseeing. In exchange all Jonathan has to do is offer his services as a doctor in helping the patients with flu, and as a vampire to find at thwart out the root of another, hidden epidemic which is also currently ravaging the city: London by night is plagued by skals, a perverted reflection of the vampire curse, which are more like mindless, senseless ghouls, attacking everybody and spreading their tainted blood. The Guard of Priwen, however, do not distinguish between skals and vampires (or ekons, as they are for some dumb reason called in this game). Especially the leader of the guard, Geoffrey McCullum, has a seething hatred towards vampires, who killed his family (classic). He was saved by the former leader of the guard, and raised to be his merciless successor in hunting out evil. He especially hates Reid, who depending on your choices can try suppress his urges and only feed on rats, or in a "Dragon" playthrough (look for the dragon!Reid tag for extra dark fic), fully embraces his dark desires. However you play, McCullum hates Reid, and especially sees Good!Reid as a particularly sinister evil, who is trying to mask his true, bestial nature.
Let me interject here with a brief description of the vampire rules and powers, as they are often referenced in the fic. I find them especially neat because the writers went very classical and monstrous with the vampire nature. No sparkles here! Vampires crave blood, and need to feed regularly. They can feed on both human and animal blood, though animal is weaker. If they haven't fed, they can give in to bloodlust and kill despite their moral natures. Most don't bother with morality once they are turned though. Good!Reid is exceptional, hence McCullum's enduring scepticism. It requires active mental fortitude for vampires not to hunt and kill humans (and as a player, because you get some neat power upgrades if you do, lol) Vampires can see human blood circulation and hear their heartbeats through walls. They can also read people's minds and mesmerize them if they so desire. They can teleport from shadow to shadow (called "shadow stepping" in the game and some fics.) They can obscure themselves and turn almost invisible in shadows, and sometimes into mist. They can manipulate the blood in their bodies to strike out as a weapon ("bloodspear"). They die by direct sunlight where they burn to ash, and they fall into a deep, deathlike at dawn. They have no pulse, no breath and are pale and cold as corpses. Crosses shine bright like sunlight and weakens and burns them on direct touch as well. If a vampire gives in to evil impulses and kills with impunity they start to appear more bestial, gaining dark veins, sharper teeth even when not actively feeding, and their sclera turn blood red. In fanon, if Reid hasn't fed, he starts looking worse as well, and have a harder time hiding his vampiric nature (though there is some Superman syndrome here, dude looked like a Dracula even before his turning, lol.)
Anyways! There's a lot of GREAT tension-filled interactions between Reid and McCullum throughout the game, as Swansea tries to broker a truce between them so that they can end the skal plague together. It all culminates in a confrontation in the hospital attic, where McCullum has set up a trap to kill Reid. They fight, and in the end, the player is given a chance to let McCullum go, or to forcibly turn him, so he can get a taste of his own medicine. The latter scene is sexy as fuck, and a wellspring of fics. Here's a compilation of all their interactions in the game. Seriously, watch the clip and tell me if it isn't just MAGNETIC between those two! Also, did I mention that McCullum is Irish and working class, and Reid is an upper class Brit? IT WAS MADE FOR SHIPPING.
Eventually the plague is stopped, some characters die or survive depending on your choices. However, Reid always and ever will be a vampire, and now McCullum might also be. So that´s most you need to know if you want to enjoy the McReid ship! Of course there is much more that happens in the game, but this is about their ship/dynamic in particular. Go forth and enjoy McReid, you lovely monsterfuckers!

Vampyr Headcanons
I figured that today of all days would be a good one to share my Vampyr headcanons. Be warned; I’m tying this to over to another favorite game of mine.
Having only Embraced those whose life was about to end (Dr. Edgar Swansea) or whose continued existence would harm others (Clay Cox, Edwina Cox, Father Tobias Whitaker, Seymour Fishburn, Venus Crossley, and Carolyn Price), Jonathan is able to convince Elizabeth to not take her own life. He immediately begins research on finding a way to completely purify her of the Blood of Hate.
Old Bridget takes care of their needs, bringing them supplies at scheduled intervals. At times, she will act as Elizabeth’s companion while Jonathan goes to visit his aging mother. After her death and funeral, which he is present at, he stays at the castle full-time, looking for the cure. His family’s butler, Avery Cork, comes with to serve and aid the last living Reid.
After over twenty years of hard work, he finds it at long last. After administering the cure, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Avery wait with bated breath as he tests her blood for the Blood of Hate. To their eternal joy, the test comes back negative.
They return to London to find it much changed: The city has recovered from the Great War, from the Spanish Flu, and from the Skal Epidemic, and is flourishing. They make contact with their old friends and acquaintances from during the Epidemic.
For example, Charlotte Ashbury is overjoyed to reunite with her mother. Things have gone well for her cause; the fight for women’s rights and the equality between men and women has made great strides throughout the 1920s and ‘30s in the United Kingdom.
At the Pembroke Hospital, Dr. Waverly Ackroyd has become its administrator. He isn’t too happy to see Dr. Reid after he disappeared into the blue. He has done well, both for himself and as the administrator of Pembroke, though, and Reid is happy for him on that account.
Others have turned darker. Albert Palmer has risen through the ranks of the Wet Boot Boys, becoming their leader, and he is arguably worse than Clay or Edwina ever were.
Sadly, others have died in their absence. Darius Petrescu and Enid Gillingham have both died of old age. Both Rodney Grader and Archer Woodbead were brutally murdered, and Albert Palmer is the prime suspect.
Much to Jonathan’s annoyance and displeasure, he learns that a second Great War has begun. Only a couple of months earlier, the “Allied” troops were driven out of Europe and forced to evacuate in the “Miracle at Dunkirk”.
Jonathan and Elizabeth’s return couldn’t have been worse timed, as a few days after their arrival, the German Luftwaffe begins bombing London in what would become known as the “Blitz”. Jonathan Reid returns to the medical field as he begins working at Pembroke again with the influx of bombing victims.
A few months later, Geoffrey McCullum walks into Pembroke. During Dr. Reid’s absence, McCullum has softened his stance upon vampires, seeing as he has become one. When his status as a “Leech” was discovered, it created a new schism within the Guard of Priwen. Those loyal to McCullum joined him in creating a new faction, which rejoined with the Brotherhood of St. Paul’s Stole. Those who wished to kill him and continue indiscriminately killing vampires continued on as the Guard of Priwen.
McCullum is here to recruit Dr. Reid into the Brotherhood. As it turns out, the Nazis have their own counterpart to the Brotherhood, the “Thule Society”. Their goal is to uncover and weaponize various occult artifacts against the Allies, and their most effective tools are Ekons. A good number of Nazi officers, especially within the SS, are Ekons themselves.
There is a good chance that the Thule Society will try to cause another Disaster, such as the one that Dr. Reid stopped. As a powerful Ekon who has experience fighting other Ekons and stopping Disasters, Jonathan is a prime candidate to be inducted into the Brotherhood, which is currently working with the Allies.
Elizabeth is against it, but she ultimately concedes. She and Jonathan part ways as he goes to once again fight for King and Country.
Between fighting German soldiers and vampires, and Embracing targets, Dr. Reid begins realizing the potential he denied him during the Epidemic. He soon finds himself catching up with McCullum, and then surpassing him, which is only right as his Vampiric parent.
Without a doubt, Jonathan hates the Nazi doctors in the concentration camps more than even the members of the Thule Society. They are a mockery of everything he has ever valued; they don’t deserved to be called “Doctor”. They are nothing more than sadistic butchers with scalpels instead of cleavers, and he Embraces them without hesitation.
After the end of the Second World War, and after having stopped the Disaster that the Thule Society attempted to trigger, Jonathan returns to London and reunites with Elizabeth. They begin to travel, having long been confined by necessity and by duty.
Later in the ‘40s, an American tycoon tracks them down with an offer. He asks Jonathan to come and join a new society he is building, one “where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality”. This is the wrong message, as Jonathan cares greatly about the “petty morality” that this man so greatly despises. When Jonathan tells him about the cures he gave away for free during the Epidemic, the man leaves quickly, leaving behind a few choice words about altruism.
In early 1967, Geoffrey McCullum comes across a helmeted, suited figure attempting to make off with a child from the Docks. The fight with it is intense, as it is strong, fast, and can throw fireballs from its hand. After losing several good men, and nearly being set on fire, McCullum succeeds in bringing it down.
Taking off the helmet gives him one hell of a shock: It’s a teenage girl by the looks of it. She’s extremely tall for her apparent age, and very frail despite her perceived strength. Something’s not right about her, and McCullum knows just the man to find out what.
Thankfully, Dr. Jonathan Reid happens to be in London, and McCullum wastes no time sending for him. What Reid finds is... disturbing.
For a start, the girl has been mutated. Her blood is much like a Skal’s, the cells unstable, yet the mutations are very different. The powers that McCullum and his men reported about are very different from anything that an Ekon or any other kind of vampire is capable of, and in fact they’re very lethal to vampires (Fireball + Ekon = Dead Ekon).
Besides the unusual height or the mono-color eyes (which reportedly glowed while she was alive), the oddest thing about her is a tumor of sorts on her stomach. It’s not like stomach cancer, like her own cells turning cancerous; this looks like it was something else originally, and then was grafted onto her stomach. Its cells are the most unstable and mutated in her entire body. Reid is at a loss as to where she came from or what she is.
Later, Jonathan and Elizabeth notice more and more reports of little girls being kidnapped in coastal towns and cities on both sides of the Atlantic. Remembering that the “Diver” was trying to take a child, they begin looking further into these incidents. They learn of an American named Mark Meltzer who has been drawing the same conclusions as they are in his own investigations. They decide that it’s high time they pay the States a visit again.
After arriving in the US, they just miss Meltzer before he leaves the country. After figuring out where he’s headed, they follow after him, coming to a spot off the coast of Iceland. They arrive just in time to see Meltzer’s boat attacked by monstrous creatures that emerge from surfacing spherical submersibles, that begin attacking their boat too.
To escape the creatures, Jonathan and Mary jump into the water and make it to one of the submersibles, hijacking it and setting it to take them back underwater. They are amazed when they see the sphere’s destination: A city resting on the sea floor. Jonathan is amazed further when he sees a statue bearing the visage of one Andrew Ryan, the very same man who came to him with his offer over twenty years earlier.
Andrew Ryan’s city of “Rapture” is real indeed.

My thoughts:
Okay, that was a long blurb and I can’t parse what’s going on there at the moment but I see magical creatures and a gorgeous cover so what else do you need, really.
This book isn’t specifically related to the Central African Republic as far as I know. Since there wasn’t anything I could find for CAR, I chose an African-inspired fantasy book.
Review to come.

Not necessarily about the kids, but how do the parents balance out all their families? We have Errink and Drink for example, how does Ink manage them?
Each character has their own way of raising and "raising" their children.
In summary. They manage to take care of them without much complication, others help each other, and others prefer to evade responsibility and leave them forgotten.
Ink takes care of Paper Jam, Gradient, Spilled and Ekon. He also often visits Palette, Blueprint, and Bluescreen.
Dream takes care of Palette, Shine and Shade. Along with Cross takes care of Lux, Starcross and Hope.
Cross usually takes care of the three of them, but apart from that, he can pay the attention that Ink doesn't give to Moku. Together with Epic takes care of Starke.
Swap will take care of Blueprint, Splatter, and Sprinkle alongside Papyrus and Asgore. He will occasionally go to Outertale to say hello to Starway.
Outer takes care of Starway most of the time. And he takes care of Deneb together with Science Sans.
Reaper and Geno take care of Goth, Raven, Sorell, Silver, and Shino without a problem. Cassis often spends time with the five of them as well.
Fell and Classic Sans take turns taking care of Plum and Dedge, despite the latter being Dust's son.
Dust takes care of Kenza. From time to time he takes turns with Swap to take care of Sprinkle. And Horror helps him with Okse and Glasses.
Finally, Killer is in charge of raising Crescent, Angst and Merciless. Nightmare only trains them to serve as his weapons. Horror and Dust are their "uncles" and are also in charge of them when the other two are not around.
Nightmare, Error and Fresh don't care about children. Nightmare just takes advantage of them. Error tolerates them, but he would rather destroy them than take care of them. Fresh is a liar parasite.
As for Lust... We are not talking about Lust. Please keep the children away from him, as far away as possible...
Radier, Tenpatch raised themselves alones. They spent their childhood together with Nightmare until they were old enough to take care of themselves. They sometimes visit Error.
Tumblr media
Those are the entire list for now. It is probable that in the future I will make comics about the childhood of each child, for now there are advances on my AO3 account. I'm still thinking about adding Rurik, but I don't have enough information about him. Only he was raised in Underfell by Fell Ink.
None of the children and parents belong to me, they all belong to their respective authors.
These are all my own headcanon trying to assimilate to the real canon. If there is something wrong or that any author would like to mention, feel free to correct.

Excuses Jonathan uses to explain vampiric tendencies
As an Ekon, Jonathan is of course bound to certain aspects of his immortality, such as burning in sunlight, being repelled by holy symbols and faith, repelled by holy water and susceptible to garlic. Though for those who aren’t aware of what he is and his reasons for avoiding these things, he has a number of explanations behind these sides of him.
Sunlight
Although Jonathan can’t stand be killed by direct sunlight, it does burn him on the outside and literally boil him from the inside. He is able to walk around in daylight as long as the sun is either behind clouds or he keeps to the shade, so it’s only if sunlight hits him directly that it’ll cause an immediate reaction. Saying that, he can feel the sun even when it’s hidden as his every vampiric extinct is to avoid it at all costs. His main excuse for this is that he suffers from a very severe case of polymorphic light eruption, which is a skin rash triggered by exposure to sunlight or artificial ultraviolet (UV) light, thus giving him a good excuse for not being seen in direct sunlight. He does also note the fact that he works the nightshift, giving him more reason to only been seen at night.
Not eating or drinking
Due to the fact that Jonathan is only able to consume blood, as anything else will be rejected from his body and brought back up ( this includes if he tried to mix blood with something, such as whisky, coffee, etc. ) He does his best to pretend otherwise, at times, usually using what Lady Asbhury did, making tea and simply enjoy its aroma. This is something he does at work with the likes of tea and coffee, but he will never actually be seen eating or drinking anything. Due to being unable to consume anything other than blood, Jonathan simply explains that he suffers from severe food allergies, both restricting what he can eat and how much, which explains his malnourished figure and why he makes it clear to people not to make food for him or buy him drinks, as they would go to waste because he can’t physically consume them no matter how much he might want to.
Bloodshot eyes
As Jonathan only consumes and transfuses small amounts of poor quality blood and animal blood to sustain himself enough to keep control rather than fully draining people or properly quenching his thirst, his eyes do remain the closest to their natural appearance as possible. The only change is that each sclera is slightly more bloodshot, though this is something he easily explains away as being due to working the nightshifts and excessive hours, which while those are true, they’re obviously not the primary cause of it.
Photographs
Since Jonathan is immortal he does try his best to stay away from being photographed as much as possible. Although there do remain old pictures and photographs of him from childhood and before his return from the First World War and subsequent transformation. He simply states that his work comes first rather than his face and name being plastered all over it. This is true, as he’s never looked to his profession or medical research for profit or fame, but it does also serve as an extra reason for not wanting to be photographed.
Never ageing
Seeing as Jonathan is unable to age, he’s taken to posing as each generation of his own family. As prior, if photographed and someone notices that he looks exactly the same as the man in old photographs from prior eras, or they recognise his name, he explains that they’re simply his grandfather, great grandfather etc and that they just happen to all look very alike, chose the same profession, were each renowned in their shared fields, and all carried on the same name. By modern times, Jonathan is posing as his own great grandson, technically making him Dr. Jonathan Reid III. He also makes a point of moving every decade or so before it becomes obvious to people around him that he doesn’t age at all.
Garlic
As an Ekon, Jonathan can be repelled by garlic, again, this can’t kill him, but his excuse for this is just simply that he’s highly allergic to garlic, which isn’t really a lie.

The Bolaji Family
Ekon and Bolade(Yeyé Binturong) are siblings, with Ekon being the older of the two. Ekon married a binturong from the Nahda Kingdom and had 4 children with her. From oldest to youngest we have: Adisa, Ayodele, Obi, and Ife. They had an amicable breakup. Each understood that things weren’t working as expected. She took Ayodele and Obi with her, while Adisa and Ife stayed behind with their father in Alag Village. The children will visit their parents every now and then. They are all on good terms.
Bolade fell in love with a felixian named Ivan while in military training. They hit it off quite quick and got married. A decade later, Ivan found a lonely, child bugbear in the woods. He took him home and named him Hunter. Raising Hunter was hard, but they’ve managed the many hurdles in the way, such as his behavior and diet. Hunter soon felt safe with his new found family and loved them all dearly. He has a special bond with his cousins Adisa and Ife, which he treats as an older brother and little sister.

scratch
On Ao3.
Summary: Jonathan finds a very drunk and bleeding McCullum in one of the hideouts.
Note: Based on @moonlitravingsofthestoryteller prompt
"It's just a scratch, I'm fine."
"That looks deeper than a scratch."
McCullum scoffed in a tired voice. The disinfection burned his skin, and the blood loss made his head heavy.
The whisky bottle was almost empty next to him.
"Please, McCullum, just let me take a look at it." Jonathan took a step closer, as he watched the Priwen. His clothes were torn on his arm, side and shoulder. A slowly healing bite mark was visible on his neck. Someone tried to patch up the hunter, however the bandage on his arm was already bled through. Geoffrey looked more pale than most of the vampires Jonathan had met.
The hunter made a weak effort to stand up from the worn-down sofa in which he was half laying.
"Please no, don't move." Jonathan raised one of his arms.
"Oh, you would love that, don't you, leech? Taking a pity on me?"
"Geoffrey, you know-"
"No, I do NOT know! I don't know why the fuck you're here, how did you get here or why do you want to help me when I didn't even ask!" The blind rage fed on his pain and sorrow, his soul felt like a bottom less pit. And the shame didn't help either.
Jonathan took an another unsure step. "I've just followed the trail of blood you left behind. It was too much, and-"
"And you're here to finish me?"
"To help."
"Like always." Geoffrey laughed, there was no humor or joy in there. His cold cackle made Jonathan's stomach sank. "The strong doctor saves the city, kills the bad bad monsters and heals the sick." He hated his own bitterness, but the alcohol made him speak.
"Geoffrey, what happened? At least let me take care of your arm, the wound on your arm clearly opened up again. At this rate you're either going to bleed out, or get a deadly infection. I promise, I will leave as soon as I am sure you're will be all right."
"Then you're going to stay here for a long time, leech." He swallowed another mouthful of whisky.
"Then so be it." Jonathan took an another step and stopped next to the hunter. He didn't respond in any way, so the Eko knelt down next to hunter. The hunter made a weak effort, to pull his bleeding arm away, but his strength was no match the doctors. "Please, don't move."
McCullum rolled his eyes, and then stopped as the world tilted before his view. It almost made him threw up. No more eye rolling, he thought.
Jonathan rolled off the bandage. "It was a Skal, if I'm not mistaken. Or to be precise, at least two."
"Of course you fuckin' not."
The Ekon glanced up at him, but continued to treat the hunter's wound.
Geoffrey only caught his eyes for a second, but it was enough for his mind to wonder off. Here was the great doctor, kneeling next to him, patching him up. The Ekon cleaned his wound with great care, his movements seemed almost human, and if the hunter had not known the reality, he would have thought that he was really just an ordinary doctor who really cared about his patients.
His fingers twitched. Jonathan was so close to him; he could have easily touched his chin, run his fingers through his beard, or just cup his chin in his hand. His fingers trembled, it wasn't just the alcohol that warmed his insides anymore.
He had to stop himself, and drag his mind away from the thoughts.
"Where are the other hunters?"
There was long pause and a big sigh before he answered. "Home, with the others, drinking. Hell if I know. Or care."
"And you're alone in a vampire's hideout, because?"
Geoffrey stopped before he rolled his eyes and scoffed again. "I thought you supposed to be the genius vampire doctor."
"Enlighten me, please."
The hunter looked into the gentle icy-blue eyes. "It was a bastard from the docks, as a human he sometimes worked as a butcher, but mostly spent his time drinking away his money. He ended up a leech, wanted to change or eat his own family, Lord knows which one. We found him in the middle of the massacre. His wife gutted, his son's neck broken and ripped open. And the daughter-" he went silent.
Jonathan could see his heart beating rising with his anger. "Geoffrey..."
McCullum only raised his free hand and shook his head. "We should have been faster. We could have at least save one of the kids."
"I'm sorry. You can't save everyone. I wish I could, as a doctor...believe me, but that's just not how things work."
He let his head fall back against the wall and he let out a tired sigh. "I know. I know." That damned alcohol, he shouldn't be having small talk with a fuckin' leech. But of course, Reid wasn't any normal vampire that McCullum ever met. So, he spoke everything he had on his mind. "Wish I had the guts to kill my father, back then." He didn't dare to close his eyes; it was more than enough to relive that night in his nightmares. But he couldn't look at the vampire either.
"You were still a child."
"Actually a boy, I should had been able to protect my mum..."
He adjusted the end of the bandage then gently put the hunter's arm on his stomach. "You were a child." Jonathan stood up looking over the hunter. His pulse got slower and so did his breathing. "You protected a lot of people since then."
"Not enough." He mumbled, glancing up again to the Ekon. It was odd, he felt more comfortable now, but he wouldn't dare to dwell on the reason.
"Maybe, but you do what you can, and right now you need sleep."
"Wanna tuck me to the bed, doc?" Geoffrey chuckled, as his head started to become foggy. The adrenaline left his system and the alcohol took over. "Y'know, if I wouldn't try to hunt ya down, and you wouldn't be such a pain in the arse. We could be friends. Hunting down leeches. Or assholes."
"Yes, I think you're right, Geoffrey." Jonathan took the hunter's coat and gently laid it on the half-sleeping man. "I'm glad you don't hate me then."
"Nah, can't. I tried." He let out a tired yawn and rubbed his eyes. "But can't." He wanted to say something else, but after closing his eyes he couldn’t open them again. Before falling asleep he felt the fingers stroking his chin, or just his imagination played with him, noone could tell.
A couple of minutes later a gentle snore filled the room.

New Classics Challenge
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The conclusion to my New Classics Challenge based of The Woman With Two Skins. After Kubra is exposed for trying to kill Ekon & Esohe, she takes a potion made by the Juju man than helped her. A forbidden one because even though it grants power, the price is that it reflects the user. She turned into a Lioness.
Its a fight to the death between Ekon & Kubra. Ekon wins thanks to Eyamba throwing him a spear, with his remaining strength because at this point he's getting old. Kubra's impaled & falls into the flames below. (The climax is something I completely made up. The villain doesn't transform in the og fairytale & her death there is harsh).
Adiaha & the entire family lives Happily Ever After. But for Ekon, his story has just begun.
