HAPPY WINE WEDNESDAY! Philip (@fandombite) is with me this week to discuss a show you should absolutely be watching - #Primo. It’s a funny, heartwarming show based on the life of Shea Serrano. It has quickly become one of my favorite comfort shows.

I cannot say enough good things about this show. It’s got heart, humor, excellent writing, and top notch casting. It was an absolute delight talking to Philip about how much the show resonated with us.

Old Galat City

Author’s note - Happy New Year! I wish I was able to do more with the holiday series entries but fell short of my goal..busy, sick and what not. I am going to attempt a new entry every day this year...or at least the greater part of it. Here we go with the first.

Old Galat City

Now a crumbling ruin Old Galat City rose to be one of the greatest cities in the world following the collapse of the Old World. After constant wars with the Lym-shara Empire, slave revolts, moral debasement and meddling with black powers the Galatine Empire collapsed sending much of the lands of Maglaysia into the sea or desolation.

On the interior coast of the Candlelight Sea the ruins of Old Galat City have not had human residents in many centuries though the place is by no means empty. The scarlet and ivory striped towers have collapsed, the bloodstone cathedrals gutted by fire and the stately villas now home to beasts and demons Old Galat City is a cursed labyrinth of lost nightmares. Hidden in the ruins are wondrous treasures of not only gold and jewels but ancient lore and technologies. Many a bold adventure have struck out to explore the ruins of Old Galat City never to return or come back bodies wracked by plague and minds shattered.

“The sailor named Amilric had the good sense to stay on the ship when his more foolish companions ventured into the ruins of the dead city. When doom crawled over the ruins claiming his friends Amilric fled leaving his companions to whatever cruel fate they had brought down upon themselves. While he returned shaken but sound of mind he complained of strange sensations in his gut that began as a nuisance but slowly grew agonizing. Upon his rather sudden and fitful death we performed an autopsy believing we’d find a quick-spreading cancer...we found something far worse. Writhing and twisting in his gut was a clutch of black creatures...like that of hagfish. Fearing some kind of infection we burnt the body and parasites alike. While I heard only the fire consuming the body my apprentices swore they heard screaming...from both the corpse and the vile creatures within it...”

Encarnación Crespo: The Spanish songstress was once the closest person in to world to Cynthia. Encarnación used to shower her daughter with love and attention, spoiling her with whatever she wanted as a form of affection. The two were practically joined at the hip but grew apart during Cynthia’s early teen years when her suave producer turned fiancé, Efrain, came into the picture. From there, Encarnación gradually slipped away from her daughter in favor of her lover. The greedy man filled her with ambitions that convinced her to refocus on her career. She spent all of her time with him but continued to spoil Cynthia in attempt to make up for her neglect. Encarnación was the mastermind behind Cynthia’s relationship with her protégé Fausto. She set the two up half out of ambition and the other half out of guilt for essentially abandoning her daughter for a man. The picture perfect image she painted of the young man in her head caused her to become delusional about the relationship. Encarnación always took Fausto’s side and refused to believe that he was abusive in spite of her daughter’s evidence. Even after his accident, Encarnación continues to believe in delusions that have cost her a decent relationship with her daughter. She truly does love her daughter but she’s been too blinded by greed to act upon it. 

Armando ??: One of Encarnación’s former lovers and Cynthia’s biological father. Her mother refuses to talk about the man. Cynthia only knows his name and what he looks like from an old photograph she found in her mother’s drawer as a child. His age, occupation, and whereabouts are unknown. 

Efrain Delmar: As Encarnación’s producer turned fiancé, he is now in line to become Cynthia’s stepfather. The money hungry producer initially sought out Cynthia’s mother out of self interest but the tables turned when he fell in love with the songstress. Having no children of his own, Efrain always aspired to become a father figure to Cynthia but the young Crespo girl wants nothing to do with him, as she blames him for her mother’s estrangement.
