Anyone have any wireless earbuds recommendations
Bc I still haven't bought myself a birthday present and it was gonna be a pair of those but idk which ones to get or if any are even what I want
And I. Don't want to pay premium apple prices so I'm not getting airpods even tho that's basically the style I want, smaller, discreet, able to be hidden under a fast food headset lol

bluetooth headphone posts are very weird to me because??? of course my bluetooth headphones have a headphone wire port? and they last longer than any pair of wired headphones I've had because the cable/port doesn't wear down and break (and the cable can be replaced)? and then I remember people exist who a) buy iphones and b) can somehow bear to wear and even prefer (how) earbuds

No one hates Apple correctly.
This is a ridiculous accusation because I guess they are expecting Apple to... violate the laws of physics?
We have achieved very good energy density. And that allows for the miniaturization involved in creating something like wireless earbuds. But there is no such thing as an infinite battery. And any longer lasting design would have to use more expensive parts or be much bigger.
Also the current lifespan of pretty much all earbuds of this size is about 3 years. This has been mapped out. It isn't a secret. You can google it and it pops up in big bold letters.
Tumblr media
The better statistic is actually charge cycles. Years is really dicey because it depends on usage.
Tumblr media
If you want something that lasts longer, get headphones. But a short lifespan is the price you pay for such a small product. Perhaps Apple should be more upfront about the limitations of miniaturization, but they aren't actually trying to scam you or hide this information. It's not like they can make a cold fusion battery and are choosing not to.
Apple is actually one of the best at making technology products that last a long time... with one big caveat... as long as they don't need repairs. (Which is why they *actually* suck.)
They keep getting accused of planned obsolescence when they have been supporting their smartphones for pretty much as long as the hardware can run the software. Only last year have companies like Samsung and Google made similar promises.
But Apple refuses to do even the simplest things to make their devices more repairable. And in many cases they actually create hurdles for repairs like pairing parts together so you can't replace them from a donor device.
They have also been very bad at transparency. There is the classic story of Apple slowing down phones. And everybody thought they were trying to force people to buy new ones. In reality, they were actually trying to keep those devices from bricking. The batteries in the phones were too degraded to handle some of the newer software. And since they didn't want the bad press of phones suddenly dying, they slowed down phones. They were actually making the phones last *longer* but for some reason this gets used to make the opposite point.
All that was required was a battery swap. And they could have just told people, "Hey, we can either slow down your phone or you can get a new battery." But they tried to keep it quiet and so everyone drew the wrong conclusions.
They got rightfully sued for this, but it started this idea that they don't make long lasting products when they absolutely do—just within the limitations of physics.
So their sin was never planned obsolescence. It was repairability and transparency. Their closed ecosystem is also an issue, but that is a much more complicated discussion.

The 141 & Their Phones
A/N: I'm pretty sure I saw someone post this or something similar but I have to give my own two cents!
Includes: Ghost, Price, Gaz, Soap.
Warnings: none except not-cannon material.
Ghost:
This guy has a Samsung, there is no way he'd give into buying anything from Apple (he's even got those Reikon earbuds, not Airpods).
His wallpaper would probably be one of the default ones but he'd actually pick one of them, the darkest colored one that's available.
Very few apps too, probably WhatsApp because the lads aren't keen on the green texts from him, and others like a workout tracker and Spotify; all his apps are password-secured too.
Very basic or has little to no social media (maybe he'd have it to keep up with the boys or like his tattoo artist).
He's got a dirt cheap black rubber case or maybe a sleek black one that one of the guys might have gifted him so his phone can have some dignity.
And he's definitely got a privacy screen!! You can't argue with me on this one, he has a privacy screen protector and it's part of his "masked identity" ordeal.
Price:
He's got an iPhone but it'd be an old model like an iPhone 8, maybe even an iPhone 6 (in the bigger sizes so it can fit in his big ol' man hands). He just likes the home button, he understands it better, okay?
He's got an Otter case!! Again, do not fight me on this. He's got one of those trucker dad cases; the bulky Otter ones because he thinks it's optimal protection.
Bonus points if it's those that clip onto his belt, he's an efficient guy!! The most severe dad energy.
He'd actually put a little effort into finding a nice wallpaper, maybe one of his dog or him and the team at a pub. He took it himself and he's very proud because he put a filter on it.
And he asked Gaz to size up his font...
Gaz:
Now this gorgeous boy knows what he's doing when it comes to technology. His iPhone is the newest one and it is absolutely beautiful.
his wallpaper would probably be something scenic, a picture he took himself because he didn't buy the one with the best camera specs for nothing.
He has all of his apps (which there is a lot of but he uses them well and frequently) organized into categories. And he definitely has widgets.
He wouldn't have the customized widgets or a theme or anything, but he has the widgets organized and his phone is just so essential because he's made it super optimal for him.
He'd have workout apps, meal-prepping apps, one to log his runs, a planner, and other organizer apps.
And he'd have a nice case, probably one of those Apple ones, and a screen protector that's unscathed.
Soap:
This is where it gets ugly...The opposite of Gaz. This iPhone is chaos incarnate.
He's got no case, his phone is semi-raw dogging it with just a screen protector (Gaz gets him new ones frequently so that he doesn't walk around with a battered screen)
No widgets because he doesn't understand those. But a ton of apps that are definitely not categorized, they're just all over the homescreen so he has like four pages.
His wallpaper would either be a picture of the Scottish Highlands that he took, or the Neil Ellis selfie. Yes, this man has a selfie as his wallpaper.
And his camera roll is full of memes he screenshot and all sorts of pictures he's taken.
And of course, he uses the most emojis out of the four of them.

So after being forced to think about what comms look like due to conversations with people, I have decided that a) there are many different modals that people have and none of them are the same much like the quirky phones from the 90s/00s and b) Juno's comms may be very complex but it is locked down by Rita and has been re-shelled so he cannot mess with it too much and lastly c) some models have styles and earbuds that are hidden away like the ds stylus or those on the Samsung note line of phones

I will literally fistfight whoever decided to get rid of the headphones jack please give it back. I can't find my little connector piece and I can't listen to music while my phone is charging becayse my ridiculously expensive samsung earbuds that are only more convenient sometimes don't last nearly as long as these $10 Panasonic wired ones that I've had for years, so my samsung ones aren't working and I really don't want to spend the money on a new pair, and there was no point in getting rid of the headphone jack in the first place!!! I would literally challenge the samsung ceo to a duel to get a headphone jack again

Every train ride has to have:
- Obnoxious group of teenagers young adults who try to act so straight they circle back to gay
- 12 year old gangsters who mumble to themselves
- Neckbeard (probably having a phone call over basic samsung earbuds that come with the phone)
- College students who have 4 exams tomorrow and are mentally dissolving as we speak
- A functioning transmission (optional)
- Coughing baby
- The loud music man (sunglasses included)

My left earbud started only connecting half the time 3 months after I bought it, and despite the fact that it's obviously a software issue, Samsung has never offered to fix that and wants me to send the left earbud in. Like, if taking the left earbud out of the case makes my phone connect to the right earbud, it's not hardware. It's software. Fix the fucking software.

I'm just saying we should be angry as hell at smartphone manufacturers for taking away headphone jacks and removable storage.
Yes Apple started the headphone jack thing, but every other company followed in their stupid ""courageous"" footsteps. Remember when Google first launched the Pixel and lorded about how it still had a headphone jack but then removed it all of a year later when the Pixel 2 launched?
Apple never did have expandable storage, but most other smartphones did. That was a design motif that dated back to the flip phone era. The biggest seller of Android smartphones (or at least the one with most representation on store shelves), Samsung, doesn't even include it in their top of the line devices anymore.
These companies have removed features and forced us to buy them back in one way shape or form, or worse; forced us into inferior experiences as consumers in the case of cheap quality Bluetooth earbuds. And in cases where manufacturers used to offer phones with expandable storage, now the only option is buying the model with more storage capacity, rather than you know, simply buying a micro SD card with exponentially more memory for a fraction of the price. Even OnePlus, whose smartphones are often labeled as "flagship killers" for how their specs and internal components, and whose slogan is literally "Never Settle", caved to the design trends of other brands
As it stands now there's only one major smartphone manufacturer that still sells a flagship smartphone that functions properly in the US (other countries have different antenna bands for 5G and LTE signals than the US does), and still has a headphone jack and micro SD card slot for expandable storage, that's Sony. Whose phones are among the most expensive sold in the US with the Xperia 1 IV having an MSRP of $1599

Hallo :) For the spotify asks:
6. which playlist do you frequent the most?
15. are you a shuffler or listen in order?
16. what kind of headphones do you prefer?
Heyyy :)) 💛 thanks for the ask!!
6: hmm it's probably almost tied between my Taylor cheerful playlist and soft Taylor playlist cause I like playing the soft vibe songs to fall asleep most nights haha (also yes I do have playlists with other artists XDD but Tay's my comfort artist and I very much hate change so yeah)
15: ooh definitely a shuffler!! Though I should really try listening in order some time, I'm probably missing a lot of story elements and stuff 😂😂
16: oh I'm really not picky, I usually use the samsung earbuds I got with my phone, although I'd really love to get a more expensive, nice pair of headphones someday :)
Ask game
