I am going crazy trying to remember where I heard song “dueling banjos” from “Deliverance” for the first time. It was definitely in a modern tv show/movie and a male character hummed/sang it or played it or added lyrics to it or smth but I just can’t. remember. where. or. who. I am thinking Schneider from Odaat or Jake Peralta or smth but I don’t think it was either of them.

bathroom
el baño
Imagine the “Dueling Banjos” track (from the movie Deliverance) playing in a public restroom.
There’s this bar where they have not just elevator music, but a live band playing in the restroom, but when somebody makes too much noise in a cubicle they will feel insulted and suddenly stop playing.
Could you tell me where the bathroom is?
Podría decirme donde está el baño?

I’ve always loved bluegrass music but can’t stand (modern) country music. It’s got something to do w/ lots of fiddle/ banjo/ songs about people down on their luck/ death/ sticking it to the man/ deals with the devil v. too much misogyny/ tractors/ patriotism/ whatever idk I don’t listen to it
I’ve currently got “One Drop of Water” stuck in my head and I love it cause it’s an indictment of rich people being selfish w/ their money. The chorus goes “Give me one drop of water, the rich man cried from hell” *chefs kiss*

AllMusic Staff Picks:
Eric Weissberg
Dueling Banjos
Despite the long-term damage this film and the soundtrack's title theme did to bluegrass, the soundtrack stands as one of the best introductions to instrumental bluegrass available. The blistering virtuosity of multi-instrumentalists Eric Weissberg and Marshall Brickman ripple through such traditional numbers as "Shuckin' the Corn," "Little Maggie," and "Mountain Dew" with such fervor and passion, it's hard to believe that all this music is coming from two city slickers.
