The ceremony took place at St Nicholas' church in Chiswick, West London, on Saturday, Sept. 23, with Michelle wearing a stunning dropped waist wedding dress by Emilia Wickstead with a long train and a veil pinned at the back of her wavy hair. [...] The groom's sister [Phoebe Waller-Bridge] donned a bright pink three-piece suit and elegant hat, with Phoebe's longtime partner, screenwriter and director Martin McDonagh. Michelle and Jasper's wedding served as a mini Downton Abbey reunion, with cast members Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael [one of the bridesmaids], Lily James, Lesley Nicol, Joanne Froggatt, Jim Carter, Elizabeth McGovern, Imelda Staunton, Allen Leech, [Michael Fox], and likely more there. Julian Fellowes, the creator and producer of Downton Abbey, was also in attendance. Since the end of the TV show in 2016, there have been two feature films, one released in 2019, while the sequel came out in May 2022. Last show: Literally Downton Abbey T-T I don’t really watch shows much but I have been thinking of checking out the Sister Boniface Mysteries, and if Infinity says it’s good, then I’ll give it a go sometime

Currently watching: Historical documentaries on youtube about ships and aircraft and war because they’re way better than TV documentaries.

Currently reading: I’ll talk about downton fanfics because what else is this blog for really? I’m still reading And I For Him (branrow) by dementian even though I started it ages ago, it’s pretty good! I also want to read the Seeing Is Believing (barris) series by MemberOfTheFates but I’m waiting to be in the mood for a fic that’s, in total, over 700k words long, though I have read a bit of it and it looks good. Otherwise I have a whole bunch of supernatural/ghost aus in my marked for later and I’m saving them for spooky month.

Current obsession: Uhmm getting actual life stuff done. I’m pretty busy so my downton obsession is dwindling a bit but I’m sure it will be back

Gosh. I am so dumb 😂 Sara had to tell me your tumblr name so I can follow you. And then I realised that I have already reblogged gifs from you. Were you named after anyone?

Not really, I don't think. Although my second name was thought of because my great-grandmother or someone related to her had my name.

When was the last you cried?

I think sometime last month actually. It's been pretty smooth sailing this month I'm happy to say.

Do you have kids?

No, and I will not have for a while as it is not the right time for me to do that right now.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Yes but depending on the company. I use sarcasm quite a lot when with close family or friends but with others nor really that much.

What's the first thing you notice about people?

I think like their overall being, if that's not too weird lol. Overall being as in like the way I feel they present themselves and make me feel around them.

What's your eye color?

Kind of messy green.

Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings, although I'd much prefer angst and tragedy. Hate scary movies and horror stuff feom the bottom of my heart...

Any special talents?

Uuuh don't know about special but I can play the flute aaaannndd I can season food better than my dad

Where were you born?

Finland, won't go to any details for my personal safety :)

What are your hobbies?

I play the flute (paying for lessons and have played for 7+ years) and piano (learned to play it by myself), write, play video games and listen to music.

Have any pets?

My family has a cat (not exactly sure about the breed but she's like a normal cat yk) and a dog (a miniature poodle).

What sports do you play/have you played?

I did ballet when I was about 6 but stopped it after a year or so...Otherwise I'm not much of a excerciser.

How tall are you?

Approximately 175 cm -> I'm too lazy to check how much it it in feet etc. so feel free to check it yourself :)

Favorite subject in school?

Probably history and english.

Dream job?

An author/writer if I didn't think about money etc. More realistically maybe something to do with business or music.

Hey, not sure if it's a problem on my end, but for some reason your posts don't show up in reblogs for me (I can only see them when other people have reblogged your reblog if that makes sense) and also your posts don't show up in the ACGAS tags for me either.

I know :( I only noticed this at the beginning of January when I tried to use the reply bubble underneath posts and couldn’t. In the app I had not been able to use them for at least two months but thought it was a bug. Now I suspect (thanks to other tumblr peeps pointing it out) that I got accidentally shadow banned by tumblr! THANK YOU VERY MUCH TUMBLR. Not. Yesterday I reblogged a long post about the features that you lose when you get shadow banned. And it affects the tags, the tagging of people, the asks, messages, reply bubbles.... I am basically invisible right now and it sucks. Contacted tumblr support three times by now and I hope they reply soon and fix this. I’ve had this blog since 2010 and never had any problems with it (or flagged posts). My sub-blogs (like downtondownstairs) are perfectly fine and still have all the features. This one however, has major issues.

Sorry for the terribly late response! I have no idea why they forgot O’Brien’s name was Sarah but oh well. Most of the props are spot on though - really adds to the suspension of disbelief.

1. When did you start watching Downton Abbey?

On Christmas Eve 2017. I think I only managed to see the first episode before Christmas Eve dinner and I got hooked right away. I remember how giddy I was during the dinner about getting to watch more of the show.

2. Favourite series?

I think I like season 1 and season 3 the most.

3. Team Upstairs or Team Downstairs?

I enjoy both, but I think I'll have to go with Team Downstairs.

4. Favourite Downstairs character and why?

That's Thomas for me. I found him intriguing right from the beginning. I'm bad at explaining this, but he showed up on screen for the first time and I immediately got the feeling that there's much more to this character than what meets the eye, there just seemed to be so much simmering beneath the surface with him. And as the show went on I've found that to be true. I think he’s one of the most interesting, complex, rich and multi-faceted characters. He feels very real and human to me. And I really love RJC's empathetic portrayal of him. And while I don't necessarily love all the writing choices for him, I think that overall he's had a very interesting character development and story arc.

5. Least favourite Downstairs character and why?

Hmm, if we take all downstairs characters that ever showed up on the show into consideration, then Mr. Green. In regards to series regulars... probably Spratt and Denker. I have to admit that I never found them interesting or entertaining (neither alone nor together), and what makes it kinda worse for me is that they didn't really seem to add anything to the show, and actually seemed rather irrelevant to the main cast/plot(s) most of the time, so whenever they came on, I kinda wished that the screentime used on them would have been spent on Thomas the main cast instead. I think the show already struggles with doing all the main characters justice sometimes, so I don't really understand why JF felt the need to introduce these two, and for basically no payoff (imo of course).

6. Favourite Upstairs character and why?

I think Lady Sybil. She was kind, caring and compassionate, loving, courageous, independent and determined. I think it was admirable that she always followed up her words with actions.

7. Least favourite Upstairs character and why?

Oh, this is difficult. I think, if we get to consider all the upstairs characters that have ever showed up, then (unless I'm forgetting someone) probably Larry Grey (Lord Merton’s son). Otherwise... I think I might go with Henry Talbot. I just could never really warm up to him and didn't really care much for his and Mary's romance (though I also have to admit that after Matthew, I generally had a hard time getting invested in Mary's romances.)

8. Do you ship anyone?

I wish we'd seen more of them, but I ship Thomas and Richard. I also find Thomas/Jimmy very interesting, alone already because of what it showed and revealed about Thomas. Besides that I also very much liked Mary with Matthew. Edith and Bertie seem like a lovely match as well. And this might be random because it was only hinted at at the end of the series and ignored in the movie, but I think Mrs. Patmore and Mr. Mason could be very sweet.

9. Favourite quote?

This one's really hard! I think Thomas telling Mr. Carson that it's not against the law to hope and „I’m not the same as you, but I’m not foul“ are very high up. As I’m generally very interested in Thomas, I have to admit that I’m excited about pretty much everything he says. Violet has a lot of fantastic lines, too. I think when it comes to funny ones, one of my all-time favourites is when Alfred is about to leave, Thomas tells him "Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do”, and Mrs. Patmore replies „that gives you a bit of leeway“, it cracks me up every time. I generally think Mrs. Patmore is sometimes a bit underrated/gets passed over in favour of Violet when it comes to providing great lines, she has so many and Lesley Nicol's delivery is amazing.

10. Scene that made you cry?

Sybil's death was probably the worst for me, the scene (and several ones that followed which dealt with it) is so shocking, heartbreaking and raw. I think every cast member gave a stellar performance there. When Thomas breaks down in the servant’s hallway I start crying all over.

This turnt out much longer and more rambly than I thought (I'm sorry!), but it was a lot of fun thinking about the replies. I think a lot of the DA people I follow have already done the questionnaire, so I’m very sorry if I accidentally tag you again! Having made the decision that Sybil would die because Jessica Brown Findlay wanted to leave the show, we had to decide what to do with Branson. One option was to send him back to Ireland, maybe leaving the baby, and occassionaly he could return as a guest star.🌟

But we all felt Allen Leech was a great asset to the show. He is also an attractive man, and knowing we were about to lose one attractive man, we didn't really want to lose two. More than this, his character is a bridge between the people below stairs and the people above. He has been at different points in the drama on equal terms with both groups, making him unique to the house. Having brought that about believably (I hope), it felt foolish to throw it away.

I never seem to be able to answer this question since I can't decide between summer and winter! I absolutely love winter - cozy clothes, the snow, drinking a cup of hot cocoa and Christmas and my birthday etc. BUT then again, I adore the warm summer days with a ice cream in hand, the leisure days and just all together good vibes...But maybe I'll go with winter...?

This should be easy! I'll have to go with this Finnish? brand's cheeseburger and fries, and also just basically any good chips and dip. I usually like it more salty than sweet!

do you collect anything?:

This might sound a bit weird but memories. Like, movie tickets, diplomas, every piece of paper basically that has any memory within it, gets a place in a folder in a drawer. Then one day I can look at them and think "wow, what a great time I had then". I have a few folders filled up already!

Besides water, these flavoured sparkling waters (from a Finnish brand called "Novelle")! There are quite a few different flavours and they're just all so delicious!

The first anniversary - a Chelsie Fanfic serial (please continue)

Added my bit under #2, inspired by @downtondownstairs prompt/post! I hope I did this correctly...bit of a Tumblr newbie, in the grand scheme of things....please slap my wrist, if necessary!!

1. She woke up by the sound and fragrances of spring that entered their bedroom through the open window. The birds were singing their early morning song, the smell of lilac filled the room. Elsie inhaled it deeply. Spring was her favourite time of the year, when nature around them woke from the winter’s slumber and beautiful sounds and smells filled the air.

She closed her eyes again and snuggled deeper into the soft pillows and closer to her husband’s shoulder. Charles was still fast asleep although they had a busy day ahead of them and he was usually the one to wake and rise before her. Old habits were difficult to overcome.

Their first wedding anniversary! Elsie’s stomach was filled with what felt like very nervous little butterflies. It was the same feeling she had had when Charles had proposed to her. Giddiness, nervousness, happiness and longing; an odd mix between these four emotions. How she was able to still lie in bed was a mystery to her.

2. But one thing she had learned over the past twelve months was that not everything had to be rushed, or happen immediately; nay, productivity could wait, at least for a little while. The busyness of life, good and bad, would always be there, just outside the haven comprised of these freshly-laundered sheets and the rumbling bulk of her slumbering husband.

She looked at him closely, enjoying the novelty of watching him sleep as the sun climbed into the sky. There were a few times in their long history where she caught him sleeping, but mostly in the evening time, whether it was here in their bed or in the chair of his study at Downton, his long legs stretched out before him, his fingers crossed over the waistcoat of his livery.

The early-morning sunlight filtered through the bedroom curtains and she touched his cheek, with its day-old stubble, gently. Brushed her fingers over his eyebrows, even more unwieldy than usual. That odd cocktail of feelings swirled around her stomach again: giddiness and nervousness, longing and happiness, together. Such a strange, intoxicating mixture, but one she’d gotten used to over this past year.

One of the best – and quickest – years of her life, so far.

[this is a little experiment. I had this scene stuck in my head but couldn’t come up with an entire fanfic. So I thought: why not make this a little serial story where you reblog it adding your part to it underneath my part. And the next person reblogs parts 1 and 2 and adds a third part. and so on…]

How did you discover Downton Abbey?

This is a cute idea! @downtondownstairs 1) How did you (fellow Downtonians) discover Downton Abbey? (was it a friend who told you about it? An ad in a magazine / on tv?)

2) When did you join the fandom here on tumblr?

3) Why did you fall in love with Downton Abbey?

4) Did you have a OTP from the beginning or was this something that gradually developed while watching the show?

My answers are below...

1) I had just finished bingeing Mad Men and was looking for something new to watch and there it was... I watch the first two seasons and came on tumblr to discuss the summer before season 3.

2) I already had my personal tumblr for nonsense and after I finished watching I started searching the tags and found friends both here and on twitter.

3) The minute Mary went to Anna’s bedroom to tell her that Pamuk had died in her bed. A true Iconic Moment™ in television history

4) I loved Anna and Bates as soon as they were introduced. I also shipped Mary and Matthew and the Christmas special proposal is just the greatest. I am a sucker for the hate to love trope in all things. Also the relationship between Mary and Anna is the BEST ON THE SHOW imo.
