Dirt Bike Racer Fem! Reader x Brozone (+ Poppy)
(TYSM for all the love, request, and followers guys!! The little comments y’all be putting on your request and under my post make me wanna tear up a lil bit 🤧)
Tumblr media
John Dory:
- Finds it incredibly hot that you’re a (famous) dirt bike racer
- Didn’t know you were a female at first until you took off your helmet and revealed your (GORGEOUS) self
- Never thought he had a chance with you tbh :(
- But then realizes HE’S JOHN DORY, THE LEADER, J.D and gets the courage to ask you out (however that story ends up is up to you)
- When you guys finally end up together his heart is content
- Although sometimes he feels that he has to go beyond his expectations because his girlfriend is literally a dirt bike racer!
- So yes his ego is hurt a little bit (but he’ll never stop loving you so don’t even worry)
- He would love to take your motorcycle for a ride all day
- And if he doesn’t know how to ride one yet (which I doubt) he will (put his ego aside and) ask for lessons (don’t tell anyone though)
- Definitely getting matching cycles
Spruce:
- Kinda thinks you’re a walking hazard/danger sign at first
- But Bruce believes the heart wants what the heart wants and it wanted you
- Has to get used to the loud noises your motorcycle makes when you take off anywhere, but eventually gets over it
- Loves riding on the motercycle with you after a couple months
- Has you under a oath to never speak about the time he tried to take it for a ride by himself with zero experience (🫢)
- Makes sure the keys (or anything that the lock can be picked with) for the motorcycle are always out of reach if you decide to have kids
- Doesn’t mind you taking the kids for a ride (but they have to be 10 or older 😢)
- Definitely wears a shirt that says ‘My wife is a famous dirt bike racer, how about you?’
Clay:
- You definitely bring out the fun in him (and he hates that at first)
- You met him during his serious boy Clay get up so at first he didn’t take you too seriosuly
- But when he learns it’s ok to loosen up, he found himself falling for you (he been loved you, he’s just embracing it now)
- Wants to be on your motorcycle more than you do
- Definitely already knew how to ride one (he was fun boy Clay soooo)
- Teach him all the crazy tricks in the book, he’ll end up mastering them all
- Please convince this man to wear a helmet cause if you don’t , he’s not even touching one
- Screaming all types of things while on the bike
“I LOVE MY GIRLFRIEND!”
Floyd:
- It’s a little weird with Floyd
- Like he loves and supports the fact that you’re a dirt bike racer but he doesn’t think about it too much (at least for the first part of the relationship)
- Secretly terrified of the roaring of your engine behind his calm smile
- You didn’t realize he was either until one day he walked into your garage and you started it up, causing him to completely fall onto his back
“Oh my gosh Floyd are you ok?
“Yea bab- yeah I’m fine…”
- Unlike the other boys, you have to convince him to ride on your bike
- Sit him in front of you so he’s convinced you won’t leave him behind :(
-Eventually he learns to enjoy it to some degree (still prefers the car tho if you know what I mean)
- Attends every event you have with the biggest “____’s #1 FAN!” sign anyone there can bring, and please don’t let him find out if someone is trying to show him up 😭
Branch:
- Ok let’s be honest if you met him during his first Trolls movie phase, he would actually despise you (at least at first)😭
- The nerve he’d think you’d have to turn on your loud engine while the village could possibly be hunted down by bergens
- After the first movie events and knowing everyone’s fine and well, he starts to show some interest
- You may or may not catch him at one or two or all of your events
- He can’t decide if he wants to ride your bike or not
- Like you’ll offer to take him for a ride and every time he’s just like:
“Well- like…um- ye- well actually, wait no, actually…maybe- well…”
- It’s to the point where if you want him to go with you, you’re gonna need to snatch him on and put the helmet on his head
- Since he’s one of the few trolls that knows about the internet, he made a fan account for you where he uploads all your clips, and makes sweet commentary and deletes all hate comments and possibly comments “____ is better” on fan accounts for any opposing riders
Poppy:
- You might have to run away from this girl at first
- Begs to ride your bike before you’re even together
- And when she is with you like Bruce she feels the need to take it upon herself to try and ride the bike
- Let’s just say she enjoyed your physical attention and the way you kissed her “boo-boo’s” afterwards
- So by the time she heals you’ve learned to take Poppy for frequent rides
- Has no shame in asking for lessons at all
- Definitely asks you to take, her, and Viva for a joyride
- Let’s the whole pop village know that her girlfriend is a famous dirt bike rider (as if they don’t already know 💀)
“Oh you’re boyfriend’s a baker? That’s crazy cause my girlfriends a dirt bike racer!”
“No way she’s a CEO? Mine ride’s a dirt bike, and she’s well know!”
“You’re girlfriends a top secret spy for the biggest agents in the world? That’s insane, my girlfriend rides a dirt bike!”

MARCY, 24, CENTRAL; SHE/HER. | if you’re hearing MORE THAN A WOMAN by BEE GEES playing, you have to know SOLANA KIMANI-LIN (SHE/HER ; CISFEMALE) is near by! the FORTY year old CURATOR AT THE DENVER CHILDREN’S MUSEUM has been in denver for, like, ELEVEN YEARS. they’re known to be quite DISORGANIZED, but being SENTIMENTAL seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble LUPITA NYONG'O. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those SUNDRESSES BLOWING IN THE WIND, YOGA IN THE MORNINGS, THE FIRST SPRING RAIN vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around the CHERRY CREEK DISTRICT long enough!
STATISTICS:
full name: solana kimani-lin
nicknames: sol ( by isadora only ), she is not a nickname person from anyone else it’s her mother given name or nothing
birthday: october 18, 1983
hometown: new york city, new york
occupation: denver children’s museum curator
hobbies: growing vegetables, early morning and late night yoga, djing (poorly)
lives: cherry creek district
BACKGROUND:
tw: death mention
solana kimani was born to loving parents, ishmael and lourdes kimani, on october 18, 1983, exact to her predicted birthdate in true libra fashion. her introduction to the world included her aunt and grandma living under the same roof as her parents, setting in the roots of her desire for a large family.
her childhood consisted of the typical things: bike rides and catching fireflies, sitting on dad’s shoulders for a better vantage point, family vacations on christmas break, and camps during the summer. their family didn’t have much, but what they lacked in material they made up for in community and love. some of her earliest memories are the women of her house sitting around the dining table, putting together their coins to bring home a burger dinner. this happened a handful of times, but those dinners were always her favorite.
as long as she could remember, drama had lived in her veins. she found herself repeating lines from the cinema, and sitting in front of the television doing her best impressions of those on the screen. at the age of ten, her aunt was finally able to help her convince her overprotective parents to let her begin going to theater camps, solidifying her love for the stage. the rest of elementary school and middle were spent pouring her heart into the theater programs, and nose in her books to ensure she’d be allowed to stay.
the turning point came when she was cast as helena in midsummer nights dream, a role she’d been eyeing her entire high school career. the lines practically memorized themselves, and when it was announced that their rival school was putting on the same show, she hadn’t even batted an eye.
until her friends staged a coup to spy on the other program, entering isadora lin. her stage presence was captivating, and where solana should’ve been nervous she found herself enamored. leading her friends away from the others, she began her streak of subtly choosing isadora. then came the rehearsals, the sneaking around, the assuring that dory was “the most beautiful helena she’s ever seen.”
opening night should’ve been her debut. instead, it was the day of her declaration, running out of the auditorium just before curtain call and making it to isadora’s program in time to catch the second half. she deserved her flowers and solana made sure she got them, taking herself out of the running for future leads in any of her own programs. the small fling that followed was enough to justify it for her, convinced that she’d be able to rebrand in college and build up the legacy she’d started again. it lasted until it didn’t, but the memories of their time shared transcended.
college wasn’t what solana expected. everyone else was just as talented and determined, something she wasn’t prepared for. being the best had come naturally to her, and in an environment where everyone was the best, solana didn’t quite know where she fit. thus began the transition to finding a new passion, theater moving to the background as a fond hobby rather than a true career path. museum studies found her unexpectedly, going for her masters and never looking back.
after graduation, solana was faced with her next transition. learning to live and love and in the place she lost her aunt, only two months prior. the city was showing itself to be too loud and familiar, leaving her with what she thought was her only choice. throw a dart at a map, and go where it took her. this was eleven years ago, and she hasn’t left denver since.
staying in denver is largely attributed to finding her wife on an online dating platform, the one she'd given it all up for before, isadora. her five year plan began that day, asking her on a date and withing two months to marry her. her position at the children’s museum came shortly after her reconnection with isadora, and it felt like all the pieces were falling into place the way that it should.
now, with one foster child out of the house and attempting to navigate rotating younger children, solana couldn’t be happier and would say she’s living the life of her dreams. her main focuses currently are exploring new hobbies and adventuring with her family, everything else falling in between where she made it fit.
HEADCANONS:
learned how to dj six months ago and does it in her spare time, in the basement, or course. she can’t imagine playing an actual gig, but it would be fun!
has a veggie garden
has a pet hamster named lettuce

Shopping Street to Shrine (Enoshima Island, Kanagawa Pref., Japan)
Shot taken halfway up Benzaiten Nakamise-dori Street where you get a peek of the large vermilion torii gate where visitors begin their ascent to the shrines, temples, and gardens atop Enoshima Island in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
This long, narrow street begins with the bronze torii gate (see previous post) and ends at the huge vermilion torii gate you can see in this shot.
The street is lined with many old mom-and-pop shops selling traditional Japanese dishes, fresh seafood, snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. There are also ryokan (traditional Japanese-style inns), western hotels, onsen (hot spring baths), and several narrow alleyways leading to small beaches and coves.
The term “Nakamise-dori” is actually the name of any street close to a shrine or temple that has come into being to serve the needs of visitors, tourists, and parishioners of temples and shrines since ancient times. This street, like many Nakamise streets, still retains its retro vibes, and hasn’t changed much since my first visit over 30 years ago.
This shot was taken at 5:30 in the morning, and even then, I had to wait for a clear shot as a newspaper delivery bike was buzzing by and New Year’s holiday visitors were already starting to make their way to the shrines atop the island.
On a normal weekend, the street is packed with both local visitors, tourists from outside of the prefecture, and foreign tourists from all over the world. The island is only a 60- or 70-minute train ride from Tokyo  making it an easy and affordable destination for a one-day excursion.

Aricka and Dori’s teen beach adventure: Meant to be reprise 1: Aricka and Billy
(Aricka Munson and Billy finally are back on track- in each other’s arms where they belong.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aricka waits on the beach for Steve Eddie and Dori all day. She begins to worry about them and then she sees a surfer boy walking up to her- the same surfer who she’d taunted days before when they were at Benny’s.
He was kinda cute- curly brown-blonde hair and dreamy blue eyes. “Hi,” she greets cautiously. He nods in her direction.
“Hey.” They stand together in awkward silence. “Who’re you waiting for?”
“Steve Dori and Eddie. They said they wanted to talk to me.”
“Huh. Aricka said the same thing- the other Aricka. Not you.”
“… is it fun? Surfing, I mean.” He laughs, startled by her question.
“I imagine it’s as fun to me as it sounds like ridding that bike is to you.” Her eyes widen in delight.
“Oh! So it’s exhilarating.” He tilts his head in confusion.
“I’m not sure what that means. But it’s very exciting and makes me happy!” Oh, she thinks. He’s so cute; and he’s trying so hard to make her smile.
“That’s what it means,” she says gently.
“Ohhh…” he nods. “I can learn new things- huh.”
“I could teach you how to ride a motorcycle,” she offers shyly.
Billy looks at her with wide eyed wonder. “Really?”
“Mhm. I’ve always wanted to surf too-,”
“I could teach you-!” He grips her hands and she feels a zing of electricity zap her spine. Music began to fill the air and she couldn’t resist the urge to sing,
“Oh, I know, I know, he’s out there
Most definitely…” Billy stares down at her with a look of familiarity- like he finally remembered something he’d forgotten about but didn’t know what.
“Maybe you’ve already met
The one you’ll never forget…” and here they look at each other, hands reaching out,
“You're meant to be…” Right as they were about to touch; a group of dancers separate them, spinning them into two separate dance groups.
Aricka stands up on a rock, “BILLY!” She calls. He sees her and runs to her; and right as she slips-
She falls into his arms as he catches her, one arm bracing her back, the other around her legs.
“When it’s meant to be
You go kinda crazy…” he sets her down, follows her back up the rock she’d just fallen off.
“Meant to be
You forget your name…” she spins and he pulls her in, her hands on his shoulders, his resting on her hips,
“When it’s meant to be
It’s destiny callin’…” he lifts her up, and her hands cradle his face and neck as he slides her down into a dip,
“And nothin’ ever will be the same!” Their foreheads bump, and they close their eyes. Relishing the feel of each other’s nearness. He stands her up, spins her around and pulls her back against him, her back against his chest, and they sway together.
Billy allows himself to press his chin into the soft spot where her neck and shoulder met, noting she smelled like sunscreen and orange juice.
He then jumps off the rock, Aricka skipping down as he runs to meet her, and right as they were about to kiss-
“Wait-!” He immediately stops in his tracks and waits for her to speak. “Something must be wrong- the others would’ve been here by now even if they’d been late. They must be in trouble-!”
He gasps, on the same track as her. “The weird lighthouse-,” they speak at the same time,
“Let’s go-!”

Sept 3 Benbecula to North Uist (74.4 km)
We let ourselves sleep in today since it was going to be a shorter ride. I know what you're thinking, 74 km is not much shorter than 86 km...this is true, although, still shorter, the original plan was for a 47 km day. Don't ask me how, but I wrote down the wrong distance plus we added a side detour. Anyway, back to sleeping in, we slept until 8:45 am, finally able to catch up and I felt much more human today...at least at the beginning of the day.
We set out into the wind and rain, and boy was it windy: 42 km/hr, thankfully about half or more of which would be a tail wind, the rest proved to be quite challenging. Being surrounded by the raw beauty of these islands helped distract my brain from my burning legs as I looked out into the vastness. Crashing waves, howling winds, misty mountains and too many sheep and cows to count. Today would be mostly about the journey. Being a Sunday, there was very little open, but oddly the gin distillery was open! We stopped by, and though I dare not taste anything with so few km under the belt, we did pick up a few tiny taster bottles. Rightly named, Downpour distillery was quite an eclectic place with more customers than I would expect on Sunday at 11:30 AM. We got going to stop at a local grocery store, the only one for miles and miles and the only one open on Sunday. We picked up some premade spaghetti, a few eggs for breaky and a beer and a small wine for later.
Our first big stop was at the first set of standing stones we would see. We ended up eating at the little hotel restaurant that lay on the same property. A good cup of coffee and a hot meal and two little dogs who gladly accepted pets and cuddles. We met a few locals who gave us the run of things, what to see and what to skip. We headed out to hike up to the very unsheltered hill where the stones were. Battered by the elements, and contending with puddle hopping we made it up. Really beautiful view despite the spraying misty rain and strong winds. I got out the good camera and snapped some photos while Ken took shelter behind one of these ancient stones. Onward for the next 25 km...sorry 45 km, oops.
More highland cows and stunning landscape to remind us of why we're here. Also helps that the worst traffic we would come across were the rogue sheep meandering on the sides of the road. But. The. Wind. The. Rain. What can you expect on islands off the North coast of Scotland? Embrace it, but heck, I wouldn't want to be traveling in reverse. North Uist became less and less inhabited the further we went. Kilometers would go by with just a small crofting home here and there. Still, something about this place is almost, mystical. It's an odd feeling to have your heart pounding as you're fighting a cross wind up a hill, and yet be oddly at peace and calm. As though there is nothing else in the world in this moment, except this place and this bike.
Another mile, mile and a half, I kept saying to myself. Reminiscing of our friend, Joris telling us this exact phrase as we hiked in Tobermory. We had a good laugh, and in that moment I had wished I had a Joris to blame for the error in distance. Alas, I could only blame myself, but no harm, each km was worth it. Ken of course was an excellent sport, he giggled in his Kenny laugh, saying he was darn glad I planned this trip, because if he had made this error, I would have been mad. Hahahaha! I'm ashamed to say he's probably right. What a guy though, can see me in all my hypocrisy and not rub it in. Just keep spinning. Just keep spinning (thank you Dori).
We did it, 74 km...only slightly more than planned (originally 47 km). Perhaps it was a moment of dislecsia? Ask my brother, I used to write in perfect mirror image. We landed in at our pod (a common accommodation out here, with all you would need in kind of hard walled yurt). Our grocery store premade spaghetti was awesome, and the wine even better.
No rest for these ol' legs. 86 km on deck tomorrow. If you don't hear from me, I opted for a night in a field snuggled up to a highland cow. This may well be my life now. Me and the cows. Go on without me Ken, God speed.

2022.
What. A. Year.
I don’t even know where to begin to describe this year. We started the year off with getting the 3rd COVID Shot in order to even be able to go Skiing. Timed it just in time and what do you know.. we both got the biggest cold from it. Sold our Audi towards the end of 2021 and had no car the first 3 month which resulted in us taking a train to Austria for 13 hours lol. Nonetheless had THE best time in Zell am See finally being able to ski again. We celebrated our 8th anniversary in a fancy restaurant in what we now call our home town and got my absolute dream car a week late - my Tesla Model 3 :) Been wanting this since before the Audi and finally got it, it’s blue and it’s beautiful and there’s nothing quite like 450 PS beneath you on the Autobahn haha.
We did get to travel! WOOOHOO! After 2 years on hold we made the most of it: I took the train to see my brother and nephews and niece while my mom was there, we took a trip with H’s family for the first time ever lol (Bremen), we got the cheaptest tickets to Edingburgh and WOW what a ridiculous beautiful country Scotland is. We loved every corner of it! H’s 96 year old Grandma took us to Wales too and idk what’s up with GB but why is everything so. freaking. stunning. Took our Tessi to Denmark and the ocean in the Netherland and I finally, after 3 years, stepped ground in the United States again. Almost cried happy tears. It felt like no time has passed at all with Courtney and Em and Missy. I loved it so much! Overall made it on 11 flights! :)
My business travels finally picked up as well! I got paid to go to Berlin in July, wanted to stay the entire weekend, Henni came, laid down, immediately tested positive and did not see anything at all of the big B and we went home, haha. Got to go to Hamburg in September and got to take my momma which was so cool to be able to pay the hotel for her! :) We went and saw Mamma Mia the Musical and had the best time and the best weather. Got to go to London again this year and what do you know.. brought Covid Home with me lol. Came home Wednesday, had the worst headache Friday and immediately tested postive. Overall it was “just” the worst headache in my entire life and so glad I made it through.
Work was.. fine. Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. Stepped up the ladder and got promoted finally :) Love that for me and my know 11k bigger paycheck! Worked my butt off for it and tolerated some psycho crap though haha. However, Dori started at my department in June and my entire life became brighter :) I love love love having her there and seeing her again almost every day. My mood and excitement for work is sooo much better now with having someone to bitch about right there haha. Also made it in the excellence programm for next year, not quite sure what that brings but I’m excited for it.
What else? Sab and Steven got engaged which immediately blocked the engagement I was hoping for in Denmark, Henni got me a SUP for my birthday and we took it right out on the Fjord that day and it was so peaceful and fun! Such a relaxed b-day for the last one in my twenties. My brother got married to his girlfriend of 10 years and I loved dancing the entire night. We had what’s called the 9 € Ticket and I’ve never taken more trains in my life. Paid 27 Euros and travelled for over 400. My aunt unfortunately got sick and is still in the hospital :( Scared us like crazy but glad she’s finally feeling better and on the road to recovery.
Sports were a big thing for H and I to do together this year :) We ran, we took loooots of bike rides in the summer, one day even almost 60 Kilometres, I ran 10k in the MS Marathon (woohhhho!), and I found my first love back: Tennis. Wow it’s been like what, 15 years? Now that we’re settled here I texted the tennis team and got lessons, I LOVED IT! Was a bit rusty at the start but getting really back into it now. H took a beginners course and I’ve loved being on the court together all through summer.
Felll in love with desperate housewives, which idk why but I’ve never seen before and am now on round 2 for all 8 seasons haha. We finished our backyard and the front yard, got the fences up and got settled in the house. H is finally seeing a therapist for his panic attacks and it - fingers crossed - seems to help. We spend more time with Sab and Steven and have such a good friendship now. I love spending time with H even if we do not talk lol and spend quality time with my momma.
And last but not least: I finally, after 8 years, 9 months and 21 days got proposed to (ARE YOU KIDDING? AAAHHH). Like many times before, I thought I was getting an engagement ring for Christmas. Checked his Amazon and Mail and there was anything BUT a ring. Got super sad again and talked to Dori all about it until my Internet was not working and I asked H to check this website to see if it was my phone or our internet, he opened it and the entire page was full of engagement ring commercials like you get when you google it. Ahhhh. Then, one day, he told me he was in MS and I went to check his location to see if he was on the way back so I could start dinner. And he was at my MOMS!!! I was freaking the f out and called Dori right away haha. I could not believe it. He asked my mom and brother for their permission are you serioussss aaahhhhg. Came home, was all sneaky about it, Sabbel called to ask if I wanted to go for a walk with her dog which was suspicious AF and I knew it right away lol. I literally would have gone in sweats and my sleep shirt if I hadnt known what was up :) Got home to candles all over the living room, towards the christmas tree and henni dressed up in his nicest shirt. He said he knew he wanted to marry me since day 1, got down on one knee and popped the question. He even filmed it all, what a perfect guy!! aaahhh! The ring is beautiful and fits like a glove and I cannot wait to marry my best friend! We facetimed everyone and they were all super excited except for my weird ass brother of course haha.
T’was a good year, dude.

Let's see what you say it's going to get home just got to get ice it's going to rest and he really has to it's a long day it's a long ride and it's going to be a little bit longer but it'll be over it can rest and he needs to get some potassium so for real
It's like 450 million people trying to get into punta Gorda that's ugly the clones are engaging and they're engaging the shoreline and if broken through in several spots one in North Carolina one in South Carolina and it's a big stretch there of 100 miles and it's a beachhead now just like in world War II and they have also reached part of New York State a small 10-mile stretch or 8 Mile really they have reached a small stretch in Massachusetts in the North they have reached a small section of Virginia and a small anyways 5 MI and South Carolina about 10 miles Georgia about 5 MI Florida about 20 miles and right at Jacksonville that's pitiful it's bad and it doesn't help. And there are a few things wrong is fleas out here like crazy ants and he almost got a couple in his pants and he escaped. They go right for you.
And it's similar all over the nation almost every state has a breach of 5 to 20 mi so they're invading and they're widening it and not shrinking. Oh really you need to pull some piracy on the blockade you can get rid of these clones all day long and not only will they return but with a vengeance and then you can have a bigger problem you have to keep at it and stopped halted and it's not working.
We're on several things here when is your attitude you got a really bad attitude people are being inundated at War and you're not doing well your attitude sucks you think you're going to win all the time you have to apply yourself and you're not really doing it it's terrible. The other thing we're going to work on this weaponry on both sides you don't need all this stuff isn't too many invaded or going to take weaponry from both of you the piracy stuff that started it's forcing an invasion so we're taking the weaponry from both. See how you say you blew it and you suck at it and then your ladies want to ride that's happening already they just want to mention it they say but you know we want our son to know about it so really who cares kind of stupid. That's how it's going we have a sequence for launching the stone chips and phase two is going to begin in moments and yes so New Zealand phase one was the release of two waves the second wave was 500,000 ships and phase one was the release of about 10 million ships from Australia because half the entire continent is clear phase 2 release the rest on both Islands will be empty no reason to go there now those big reasons but those be out of the way it's a good test
Another news we have exactly 7 million leaks here but what you're doing in punta Gorda everybody rats on everyone how hunky-dory
Doesn't do a damn thing for you now we're just about to strike and we're just about to launch your ships and their repaired they were not built right but we had to build them that way in order to harden the blocks you need to add Mass and it makes it impenetrable so they don't crack in space that's the secret you don't know how to do it and we're not going to teach you and tell you anyway. Anyways there's more stuff happening we sold about 550 octillion electric motorcycle Company regular sport bike versions in each area okay you guys want the lithium and you say back and it is back cuz we using your mine cuz we have to and yours have big mouths they sit there blabbing about it yes she wants to call her but a winner. So she's doing illegal bomb stuff too that's the treatment. We do the authorized the United States military. And we sold about $700 billion choppers and mostly in the United States and that's a huge number of choppers okay that's well passed what we anticipated and we started the regular size chopper today and we sold 700 million. We anticipate twice that tomorrow and it's still going up today will probably reach the trillion Mark today and it's going to be intense there's going to be a lot of sales that's a lot of that's a lot of choppers most people don't sell choppers they're harder to drive they're very powerful and they're very heavy and people use them for odd things a toe stuff with them. The towing loads of things that's why they make them and they we make the chopper trike tons of people about that huge numbers of people bought it through a trailer hitch right on it your trucks and it can hold the weight yeah and Holly our version is making the trike and he said we have to bite the bullet and get it done we're going to take over Harley we need to do it I don't want to go through this again. So he started making them and selling them and Mac is madder than a wet hen and he's helping arms and he's ridiculously angry and is mean ornery and puking everywhere and he won't stop and sales figures are huge who sold about 2 billion Harley trikes an area and with the exception of Florida when someone's smuggling them in and most of higher ups want one and you have to pay the person smuggling them and it's called the black market that's what they're on it's a huge market for them here gigantic almost everyone wants one it's like you're more like now. It's ridiculous you're going to run around and do what they did in the beginning say see you later that's what they said they all left forever by the way it's not coming back from that crap.
Hera has something to say
Thor Freya
We have to help him is itching like crazy all over too and see if these things are here and can't remember and they're there so I saw him earlier today screaming and agony that's something was biting him on the leg and I saw what it was so little caterpillar and just bit him a little and they'll laugh and she'll come back to hunt you and nothing will do that much but Jesus Christ you people are assholes to him and you expect all the stuff and him to save you you saying do it yourself and here just fire missiles Adam that are inaccurate and really it works people knew it worked so he said make them cheap and for Christ's sake can't you do that s*** on your own you're making me a leader it's freaking weird. I had success of my own I made that supercar and my husband made we made it together and he noted the points of mine after and boy is it fast and we designed it together and here it is mine is Pink and a lot of ladies love it they love the color. And it's not like a pink and smell like a bright Coral it's lighter and brighter and steamier it has a strange Aura to it and it changes a little bit and it's metallic kind of looking it's the new coating it's scratch free and it costs $35 million dollars a little bit more than men's car because it has a lot of add-ons and it made the motor a little bigger so I can take more abuse because women tend to lead for it and they're not then lead-footed. My men don't know that except my husband who said they're psycho b****** they pointed out to Mike benedetto and he got in a lot of trouble. And it's a start and I'm catching up and he sold 2 billion and they got a contract with the government for like 400 million so they're sending me a contract cuz they have like Parris Island in some others for about 500 million and they're buying more now they found out of the car and it is an amazing vehicle I'm in love with it and I'm in love with my husband
Hera
We have more successes but the war is going well and it is as predicted and the more lock have lost more than anticipated and Max. And going after ships they lost twice as many as we thought and yes by tomorrow afternoon the morelock will more likely not exist and here there will be clones and Max and they fight all day long and it is very treacherous and nobody gets anywhere and it's been seen quite often.
Today is the day of remembrance for the Queen of England and she passed away and is being buried tomorrow early morning 9:00 a.m. UK time and there's a huge fight beginning there it is more mild when she goes under it's going to be very heavy less wary of bullets hitting here and they will not be shooting the direction well no that's not true a lot of people try and threaten her and they get hit and she's under a steel plate but these days they reinforced it a little so we're going to not say what it is but really you people are going to fight very hard tomorrow tonight there's about seven octillion diet an hour each side no in total. But tomorrow it's going to be horrible and we anticipate the fighting will attract the Russians to look at it like it in and they'll come across and it'll temporary unify you and it'll be hellacious here no you're going to attack the clones but you need to do and you're not doing wholeheartedly but you are doing piracy and trying to take their ships it is there is a lot of that going on now lake Okeechobee is very very moist and it's putting out tons of clouds and they're going to reach here momentarily so he has to head out and we know what's going on over there they're trying for the diamonds cuz they have the equipment nearby and Corky just went out there 20 minutes ago and it's the clouds are here. The weather is atrocious but this is a great day and tomorrow will be better for us you're going to be in a war with your clones the Russians and everybody else and they're going to raise Queen Elizabeth it's in about a week and he will go to Utah because that's what she wants he just will get the West Coast fight the east coast and it's really foreigners too and that's what the woman think they need while they do the cloning is ridiculous it's it's really sick and he admires them for their strength a lot of times they're strong even when they're sputtering and spitting and really mad because what they're doing to them is very very illegal very wrong and very mean and they're holding it inside as they should and it takes strength and our son says he gets very mad and can't hold it inside lots of times but he has special abilities inventiveness that a lot of people know most people well all of you don't have it's it's very sad to him too and we have women and we're afraid for them we're putting alerts out now and we we are ordering hours to hunker down it's time for that and a war is approaching all over the place for these ships. We're beginning the sequence for New Zealand and Australia is the final sequence for those two islands the rest of them will launch all of them and it's only about 10 million left in each island that's a lot that is the last ships but we noted the effect and it was mild and we don't need miles because most of them are at least 20 mi away from people most of them are about 50 to 100 so we're going on it now
Thor Freya
You know some itching the entire time the little fleas all around some are on him and off him and it's just terrible we got to help him doing his nose and it's terrifyingly bad and this place is buggy and stinky and plugged up like Okeechobee is going to be unplugged and the fountain is going to go way up in the air and everyone's going to run to the other holes and finally going to have something here that we can use we're manning up now and it's going to be real armies this time
Olympus
Huge huge huge sales on our new car the mega supercar that you designed Zeus and Hera and she had some input yes it is an incredible vehicle it's a unitized frame and it's got framing members it's got stylish lines and keep it on the ground and keep it flying straight it is an amazing vehicle it is so fast it's almost equal when it comes to playing but in a certain speed it starts to gain lift but it makes it lighter and you can compensate and it goes very very fast it's in the air it's 250,000 miles an hour but we get ours up to 300,000 without destroying it or damaging it and in space it's about 12 million to 15 million miles an hour no we can modify ours to go 20 million it's faster than the starship Enterprise and we used it too and we're going to use them and you're using them so watch out but not in your rear view mirror.
Frank Castle Hardcastle
He chased on so many it's not funny no only a few but we chase down tons of electric motorcycle company motorcycles everyone said they're going to make a bomb out of them we we chase down. And it's a huge huge number it's always impressed and fascinated and joyful and just really shocked too and and hopeful everyone is so hopefully I told people and they come to me and sign up right away it's like the number one thing we do and boy is this pushing it we sold about 700 octillion electric motorcycles in the area more than they said it's going upwards that's why huge numbers today that thing is hotter than hell that's a giant number of motorcycles and we have a trike that's selling too out of that number 200 million or trikes electric trucks in the motors bigger and the batteries are bigger it's a wider stance and it's longer and it's been tested and doesn't fall over. The light cycle company is going to have its introductory meeting this coming Saturday and we're working like hell to get him some funds to go there and so is Mac and others are evil it's an evil thing and he wants to look evil and it is evil to pin it on him but to do it properly instead of like John Lord just saying it over and over is just a real disappointment for everybody little kids go around doing it in Calcutta and does nothing. He's doing it right now saying something else and he's really not fascinating at all and he's circling our son here the other courthouse and he's wanted man is wanted felon and he came out as a sheriff he says drove back in yeah that was him so he's taunting to them. And he will start it off with bja but first Cherry cheeseman is going to stick him into the tool and only a few days when Queen Elizabeth gets out and under a different persona as Victor and for a few days everyone's going to fight to be John remillard and Trump and so forth to take his own chips it's going to be a huge fight of his own clones and sons and more trumpsters and they're going to go after the keys at his places he's insane that guy just wants trouble he's taunting the sheriff is taunting the court and he doesn't know what he's doing for real. And we like it there's a lot going on it's hard to remember and he says no I pretty much got it this clones out there in a blockade the breaking through and coming in the warlock are taking huge losses and pretty much will be out shortly and at 1% if it's true and it is I'm telling him that was him in that last sentence 1% is true and that's nothing 1% of what they were a few days ago and we say yeah but no we mean 1% of what they were last year more or less it's still nothing that's like one country or something and it's a decent country but it's nothing there's only a portion of that country always and it's less than that now and these major events are going to knock them out and they're trying to clone everywhere and grab women and people are killing them their own women are killing them it's only a matter of hours before they're very teeny and bite-sized and we'll be switching to the clones then foreigners. What a great day it's a terrific day he's very happy about excited but itchy sweaty miserable at the same time
Duke Nukem Blockbuster
He's got to get going there ready for another push and then Okeechobee and it's going to squish over here
Hera
For saying good job to you Zues and to you Hera, we're going to say another words and he knows it's also a mechanism but he does appreciate because there's not many people of our kind at all anyone who is going to be walking around with money except for infiltrators special agents and deadly assassins of ours and even then they're not holding it and I agree this is going to be very strange and unique
Thor Freya
No problem with this John remillard guy he's driving around again as a sheriff and someone's telling us that they haven't verified no we have it's ridiculous it's like this complete idiot and he doesn't understand it nobody likes what he's doing nobody likes him is himself not to mention a sheriff and he's going to get arrested fairly soon thinks you can just walk on into the house when they're small here too what he's doing is getting rid of them he counted about 1 billion dead in Florida from him being a sheriff here cuz they're trying to stop him the easy way without doing anything here to attract too much attention

July 2022
Singing at Sarah's wedding. I got to drive Peter's car back and forth. We had a lot of fun during the ride talking, singing and engaging in friendly banter. It was a gorgeous day to walk through the Nymphenburg castle grounds. Sarah was visibly moved when we sang the song she had written herself as a surprise. On a more self-centered note: I felt very confident, had fun singing and thought we all looked cute in the photos.
The psychologist Heidi Keller on Eigensinn.
The milk dancing around like sinister storm clouds when poured into a cup of fresh coffee.
Baking Bergsteigerbrot (trying to use up all my nuts and dates) and zucchini cake. Nostalgia recipes.
Finding Danika as my subtenant. I had a good feeling about her as she was the only one I would have liked to become friends with and it seems as if I made the right decision!
Peter trying to fix my bike pedals, spontaneously asking me to come over.
Making a birthday video for Doris, even blowing out the candles on her cake and singing, when had to stay home with Covid on her birthday.
Finding the best raw food bars at Rossmann.
Pub quiz, meeting Ina from Margit's DnD group. Nerding with Raphael, quizzing each other on foreign languages and alphabets.
Warm breakfast. Verival porridge or, the royal treat, runny eggs and avocado on English muffins, summer tomatoes. Nigella seeds and toasted sesame.
Reading a book about inner-child-work. I used to belittle the concept and didn't think it had its place in "proper" psychology but I've come to terms with the fact that it might actually be an issue I should have a closer look at as it definitely affects me personally. The difference between weakness and gentleness, the Ego and the Higher Self - it all makes so much sense.
Visiting Kathrin's choir concert with some of my friends from my own choir - mostly older, some seniors (which is why taking the subway together was an adventure but I started a little harmonizing exercise on the escalator and everyone sang along!) It was lovely listening to their interpretation of some truly fantastic choir pieces. Beer afterwards. I liked the friendly gossip but didn't care much for evaluating and criticising every last decision the choir had made like including lots of solo parts for example.
Appreciation for my own mother when Andrea started questioning my every decision before the concert (are you sure you don't wanna change / don't you want to bring a jacket and lock the door / no you can't throw away these bottles, we can reuse them / ...) AND realising how far I've already come when I stopped myself from just taking on all her rushing anxiety and managed to keep my mental distance. Was THAT an emotional boundary? Did I actually find one? What a great lesson. If feel like I'm making progress in terms of self-worth too, because I've been feeling proud of myself in the last weeks whenever I noticed how much more considerate and sensible I acted compared to my usual approach. I'm slowly becoming the person I want to be which is a great feeling. However, I guess I still have the need to prove something through excellence and peculiarity - my right to exist. It's hard to accept that I'm okay just as I am, even when I'm not doing anything, not playing any role, just being me.
Practising Viva La Vida and Caresse sur l'océan at my kitchen table one Saturday morning. Getting all emotional because these songs just WORK. The Coldplay song is perfect for my vocal pitch and I'm dying to perform it on karaoke night. I've also grown more comfortable with hearing my own voice. It's actually a rather pleasant one if I do say so myself.
Talking to my students about Pride Month and LGBTQI issues because I was honestly interested in their opinion and their reasons for having a, let's call it... controversional, point of view. I hope I managed to make clear how I respect everyone's opinion and feelings but don't want them to discriminate against anyone for whatever reason. It's funny how different it is to discuss something with my students in German since I'm only really used to my ESL classroom and the language barrier really does inhibit some to express themselves freely I suppose.
An internet deep dive inspired by reading Yerba Buena: Creole language.
Raphael visiting me at school for the first time. Indian dinner outside. Talking about going sailing soon. He seems to be warming up to me again. I love that.
Talking on the phone with Sash. Her photos of her cute new short haircut and the rainbow glitter hair accessories.
Finishing my mosaic project despite all the stress and pressure. Or maybe because of that. Balance is key.
Playing SingStar with my class. Painting the classroom walls. I loved how I subtly forced Ivano to become a post-modern artist.
The weekend Doris and I went to LA to visit my mum and transport a few moving boxes. Making friendly fun of mum for getting our numerology wrong. Trying to fix our clarinet. Dinner at the Mexican beergarden, ice-cream with roasted almonds and Yogurette. Walking along the river and over the graveyard. Badminton, pumping water, stealing redcurrant from the neighbour. Meowing at cats. Watching the final episode of Killing Eve in the middle of the night because we couldn't sleep. Doris looking like a burrito baby, wrapped in a white blanket. I woke up hardly able to walk because I'd pulled a muscle but we still got on with our day and it got better. Playing the piano, getting the Music and Lyrics song stuck in our heads for days. The local bakery. Spending the morning at the best fleamarket I know. I bought mirabelles, tomatoes and zucchini from an old Russian lady. A bathrobe, a kimono and a dress. Then we got milkshakes and went back to Munich for the CSD parade. It was really hot but a lot of fun and later we ran into Chickie and Luca, had iced coffees in a patio cafe. Doris and I went to Lake Starnberg for a swim (okay, mainly me clinging onto her for warmth most of the time, teeth chattering, taking in the Alpine panorama during golden hour). Dinner at one of my feelgood restaurants in the area. Kisses during sunset. Choosing my bed over CSD-clubbing was a regrettable decision but we just didn't have enough energy left.
How great the student's linocuts turned out. Putting them all next to each other is very photogenic.
Ich bin ich und du bist du / wenn ich rede, hörst du zu / Wenn du sprichst, dann bin ich still / weil ich dich verstehen will. Aya, my chattiest student, taught me this little poem.
Opening my old ear piercing. Getting a labret stud at Tollwood.
Finishing the papier mâché trash bin covers. The dinosaur is my favourite.
Sorting all the glass beads by colour. I love making rainbows.
Doing the partner track at the forest ropes course with Ella. Overcoming fear, again. Just doing it, really. Walking through the woods with the kids who acted like they'd never walked off the beaten path before.
Raphael picking me up from physio. Sharing a giant tropical ice-cream sundae with lots of whipped cream and fruit. Walking through the English Garden trying to memorise facts about the 80s.
All the people I met through Raphael's contacts when they visited me at school to get some tools and furniture. Ralf from Kleines Spiel, Stefan the ceramics artist, Armin and Dietmar from Rationaltheater. I actually visited the latter at their theatre and enjoyed myself very much surrounded by an old American jukebox, excellent pianists and barkeepers (Espresso Martini!).
The pottery class I took with the gang. Actually getting the hang of it, suddenly just feeling how to pull up the clay. Experiencing a state of flow, especially finalising and perfecting the semi-hard pieces in the end. The studio was in the middle of nowhere and I loved the old farmhouse. Learning about marbled clay hand-dyed with mixed-in pigments. Eating together in the evenings, going for a walk during a very dramatic sunset. Taking my author portrait with stolen literature. Harrassing some cats. Becoming a sheepish cult leader for a minute. The eerie area around the mill, all the lovely flowers. A long swim in the lake, reaching the island, playing around with Sash and Yanch in the water.
The fact that we were able to find a way to keep the kilm. I actually have my own kilm now, how incredible is that? And all the boxes of art supplies and tools that are sitting in my basement now, waiting for me to organise a workshop or studio. I also got old textile maps and wall charts, lots of wooden drawers and kept my favourite roll car. Abundance. I could start screenprinting now, batik or woodcarving!
Doris. I'm so grateful for her support. I don't even know how to pay her back, I'm deeply in her debt.
My choir's summer party. New people to talk to, downing a bottle of red with Peter (of course we kept the neighbours up talking until late in front of his house), DJ-ing, breaking into song. I love when that happens, it's such a new experience for me to spend time with people who love singing and aren't shy about it. Wolfgang, charming as ever - I love that dude - wishing for Petit Bonheur (and I realised I knew it as the pony song from TikTok).
Kevin sneaking into my classroom, subtly forcing me to take him on as my assistant. Which I did. So we spent one last hour working together, packing boxes. I'm gonna miss my little man.
Doris helped me get a lot of stuff home and I was sad about missing the goodbye party at school (Jonathan seemed really sad that I wasn't staying for a drink and I got a bad conscience). So she forced me to take a shower and actually took me back there which was a really good decision. The ouzo made waking up the next morning quite painful but I was the DJ for most of the night and had a lot of fun with Laura, Jonathan, Becky and Schrobo; we even played around in the gym and got out the hula hoops, pedalos and bicycles. Flowers, tears and confusion on my last day at the school. Schrobo and Zenki cried when they tried to say a few words of goodbye which made me emotional too. Jonathan thanked me very sincerely and gave me a bunch of sunflowers. I realised that a lot of things came to an end that day - my time at that school, working together with friends. Turning point.
An article about Hattie Geenen, the female caption of Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior III.
Chocolate milk. Tastes like overnight school trips and staying in youth hostels.

Missoula to Rock Creek (Day 4)
27 June 2022
Tumblr media
The bike shops didn’t open until later in the morning, so I didn’t get out of Missoula until noon. But at least I left with a full set of new tubes (but not new tires, which I considered, but were in short supply). I took the Kim Williams Trail east out of town along the south side of the river - the same path I’d ridden on a cold morning last September (Deer Creek and Patee Canyon) on a very different kind of trip (but on the same bike). I continued on roads and trails parallel to I-90 as far as Clinton, where I had no choice but to use the shoulder of the interstate. On the other hand, the pavement was good and the five miles went by fast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I exited I-90 and turned south away from the Clark Fork. I stopped for supplies (but not fishing gear or fly-tying advice) at the little store, then began the long gradual climb up Rock Creek. Traffic was light, and friendly. Much of it was pickups towing fishing dories (I suppose a combination of locals out for the day and professional guides with out-of-state clients).
Rock Creek is really a small river, particularly with the high water levels. The gravel road generally followed the river gradient, though there was a five mile section where the valley narrowed and the road got steeper and narrower.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I reached Stony Campground shortly after 7. My late start from Missoula precluded my original plan to get farther, but the 20-30 miles to the next good camping option was too far. After setting up camp and eating, I wandered around the camp loop and ended up chatting with Jennie from Whitefish who was off on her own solo gravel bike adventure around western Montana, which involved an awful lot of climbing and rough, remote roads, but sounded really neat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rock Creek was wonderful. It was exactly why I wanted to ride my bike through Montana. And after the trip, when I’m still sorting out my feelings about the ride and it’s difficulties, remembering Rock Creek reminds me how good a trip it was! It became my counterpoint to the ugly afternoon on the very similar Greys River above Alpine, Wyoming, a week or so later, amidst the dust and noise of a constant stream of unfriendly trucks and ATVs.

Playing With Fire ~ Chapter Thirteen
Dunraven Pub - Modern AU
A/N: Since this is a relatively short chapter, I may post chapter 14 later on... maybe... 😈
Summary: Thorin Durin likes his life just the way it is—his pub is successful, he’s happily playing the field when it comes to women. He wouldn’t change a damn thing about it. At least, not until he meets Leda Andrews, who stops to help him when his car dies on the side of the road.
Leda is new in town, and late for a job interview when she stops to help a guy with his broken down old car. The last thing she expected was for him to be the same guy who owns the pub where she’s applied to be a bartender, never mind to be one of the hottest men she’s ever seen.
Sparks fly, and while Leda’s got a few ground rules that Thorin is more than willing to abide by, neither one of them expected their fling to turn into anything more serious, or that they would be faced with a situation neither one is prepared for. So, what happens when a no-strings-attached affair teeters on becoming the real thing…
Summary: Thorin assures Leda that if she’s pregnant, he’ll support whatever she decides to do…

The parking lot was about half full when Leda steered into it and eased her bike into a space alongside a silver Jeep. She didn’t seen Thorin’s Mustang, but that wasn’t really a surprise. On Tuesdays, he was usually in and out throughout the day.
Her belly jumped with a million butterflies, although her nausea was gone and she hadn’t thrown up since Sunday. Still, that didn't mean that nerves wouldn’t pick up where the Plan B left off.
But now, as her gaze automatically went to the corner where Thorin usually parked, she bit back a sigh. She really never thought she’d find herself in this situation and she really didn't know how to proceed with it. She didn't expect to like him as much as she did, didn’t expect to feel as comfortable with him as she did. That came as a surprise, as normally, she had no trouble separating the physical side of sex with the emotional side. After all, most guys couldn’t be trusted, so why should she take the risk with any of them? Maybe not entirely fair, but fuck fair. None of them worried about being fair to her, did they?
But at the same time, she and Thorin were also friends. They talked about all kinds of things; movies, music, current events. He certainly wasn’t just another pretty face. He loved football, dogs, crossword puzzles, hockey, and history—especially World War II. He liked Thai food, Bruce Springsteen was his favorite musician, he leaned left politically, his family was important to him, and from the sounds of it, he enjoyed being with them. So, what began as physical wasn’t quite just that any longer. At least not for her, no matter how much she hated to admit it.
And that scared her to a certain degree.
No, that scared her shitless…
It was a gray, overcast, chilly afternoon, with a hint of rain in the air, but the forecast promised that wouldn’t happen, so she took a flyer and chanced riding her bike. Thorin hadn’t switched on the heat yet, though, so when she stepped inside, it was only slightly warmer than outside.
Zana was behind the bar. “Afternoon, Leda!” she called as Leda came in through the front doors, tugging off her helmet as she did.
“Hey, busy day for a Tuesday.” Leda popped free from the helmet, tucking it under her arm. “Why didn’t you call me to come in earlier?”
“Thorin stepped up. Said you weren’t feeling well.” Zana’s voice filled with concern. “Are you okay to work? Because I can get Lacey to cover for you if not.”
“I’m fine. I had a touch of food poisoning Sunday night and called him last night to let him know I might not be coming in today because I still felt kind of lousy. But, I woke up feeling better.”
“Good. Well, if you start feeling lousy again, just say something.”
Leda smiled. “I will. Thanks.”
She moved down the hallway to the small coat room, where the staff could store things. It was right across from Thorin’s office, which was oddly dark and still. She’d gotten accustomed to hearing him on the phone, with the radio playing softly behind him. Sometimes he talked to himself, which was funny to hear. Sometimes he sang along with whatever song played, and his voice was surprisingly good, low and smooth, like silk over black velvet.
Silk.
She tried not think about that night, as doing so made her want to repeat it with him. As often as possible.
For the rest of her life.
Don't think about that.
But now his office was quiet. The lights were off. She poked her head in to see his desk, which was usually a mess of papers, with pens, paper clips, and post-its everywhere, surprisingly tidied up.
The air still held a hint of his cologne and without thinking, her gaze wandered to the sofa. How many women had he fucked on that sofa? How many writhed and moaned beneath him as he licked, sucked, and fucked them into mind-blowing orgasms? Did he remember their names? Did he even know all of their names? Did their names even matter to him?
Why did she give a shit all of the sudden?
“He’s not here.”
Leda jumped as Dori’s hand came down on her shoulder. She hadn’t heard him come down the hallway. “Jesus Christ, don’t sneak up on me like that.”
“Sorry.” His hand fell away and he stepped back. “It’s just if you’re looking for him, he’s not coming in until five, and you should probably stay out of his way. Amy called earlier. Broke her wrist last night, so he’s hot about that on top of having to do whatever it was he was off to do this afternoon.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Said he had a meeting across town—auditioning a few bands to possibly play on the weekends.”
“Since when does he care about having live music here?” this came from Lacey, who’d just come in the back door. “He’s never mentioned it before.”
“I was telling him about a couple of the newer places that have opened up on the west side of town,” Leda peered over her shoulder at Lacey, “and suggested they might give him some trouble. That’s when he started to care about having live music. And I know he’s considering a few more things as well.”
“Really? That must be killing him. He never gave a damn about being trendy or anything,” Lacey replied. “Guess that’s why he sounded so annoyed before.”
Dori stepped back. “Well, this food won’t prepare itself. Damn, I wish he’d hire a sous-chef to help me out.”
As he walked away, Lacey looked back at her, her eyes serious. “Be careful, Leda, okay?”
“Be careful? What’s that supposed to mean?”
A thin, delicately arched brow raised slowly. “I mean with Thorin. He’s a good-looking guy and he knows it. He can have any woman he wants, and he knows that as well. You’re new around here and I don’t want to see you get hurt. That’s all.”
Her gut twisted, but Leda managed to smile. “I don’t know why you’re warning me away from him. I work for him. That’s all.”
“I came back Saturday night to grab my scarf,” Lacey’s voice lowered to barely a whisper, “and I heard you in his office. Sounded like you were both having fun.” She held up both hands as Leda opened her mouth to protest. “I’m not judging and I’m not going to say anything to anyone, but be careful. You’re not the first bartender he’s slept with, and you probably won’t be the last. Just keep that in mind, okay?”
Heat swept through her, but she thought she managed to hide it as she held Lacey’s stare. “I appreciate the warning but—”
“I’m not trying to be a bitch, Leda. I like you. But… I also was you. He gets under your skin real quick. You’ll start convincing yourself you can change him. That you’ll be the one he wants to change for.
“Then, you’ll catch him with a beer rep. Or a waitress. Or a customer.” Lacey offered up a sad smile. “I caught him on his desk with Meg and he wasn’t even embarrassed. Just asked me to close the door.”
Leda swallowed hard as the roiling in her belly worsened. “That sucks.”
“It did,” she nodded, “but I’m older and wiser now. And Meg caught him in his car with someone, so what goes around comes around. Just be careful, okay? I don’t blame anyone who wants to sleep with him. We all do. He’s hot. And he’s amazing. He’s also not big on faithfulness, but I gotta admit, he is honest about that, so I really couldn’t even get mad about it. It was my own fantasy, not his.”
With that, she patted Leda’s shoulder and went to punch in. Leda sank back against the wall and let her eyes close. Was there anyone in this bar he hadn’t fucked?
Christ.
****
At ten after five, boots thudded against the floor and Leda held her breath as Thorin came around the corner. Her heart skipped a painful beat, then sped up triple time as his blue-eyed gaze came to rest on her. “How’re you feeling, Leda?”
“I’m fine,” she said, tugging on the Sam Adams tap to fill a pint glass.
“Good.” He came back behind the bar, glancing at Zana. “How was this afternoon?”
“A little busier than usual. Did you run an ad or something?”
“No.” He shook his head. “But, I’ve got a few promos lined up for November into the new year, but nothing before that. Leda,” his hand came to rest on her shoulder, “can I see you a minute when you’re done here?”
“Sure.” She set the Boston Lager in front of a large blond man to the left of the taps. “On your tab, Tony?”
“Please.”
“Sure.”
Thorin moved back from behind the bar, and Leda could practically feel Lacey’s eyes on her. Trying to ignore how unsettling it felt, Leda said, “I’ll be right back.”
She skirted the corner and made her way to Thorin’s office, pushing open the door to see him shrugging out of his leather bomber jacket to hang on the coat tree standing alongside the sofa. “What’s up?”
“Close the door?”
“Sure.”
The door clicked shut and she turned toward him. He perched on the edge of his desk, hands clasped between his thighs, expression more serious than she’d ever seen. “Did you get to the pharmacy?”
She nodded. “I did. They had Plan B and I took it.”
He glanced toward his desk, where his wallet lay. “At least let me pay for it.”
“I’m good, but thanks.” She shifted her weight from one foot to the other as the silence thickened between them. It had to be the most awkward moment of her life, and it worsened by the moment.
They broke the silence at the same time.
“Leda, I—”
“Thorin, I—”
He laughed, that sexy, warm chuckle that made her skin tingle and her nipples contract on cue. “Go ahead.”
“No, you can.”
He folded his arms, his biceps bulging against the sleeves of his white henley. The buttons were only partially done, and a hint of gold sparked under the lights, a hint of almost-black chest hair poked up around it. “I just wanted to say that, if you are pregnant, whatever you decide to do, I’ll back you up.”
She blinked. “Back me up?”
“Yeah. Support you. Whatever you want to call it.” He cleared his throat and held her gaze easily. “If you decide you want to have an abortion, I’ll pay for it. If you decide to keep it and go for adoption, I’ll split any costs with you, doctor’s visits, shit like that. If you decide to have the baby, to keep it, I’ll support it.”
“I thought you didn't want kids.”
“I don’t, but, I don’t walk away from my responsibilities, either.” He drew in a deep breath. “If you want me to sign away any rights, I will. It’s your call, Leda. It’s my fault, so it’s your call. However you want to handle it, you won’t get a fight from me.”
She shook her head. “It’s not your fault, Thorin. I was there, too.”
“Yeah, but I felt that fucking condom slip. I should’ve pulled out right then and there, but damn, mesmel… I couldn’t.” To her surprise, a blush rose along his cheekbones. “I couldn’t make myself do it, and here we are now. So, yeah, it’s my fault.”
“Well, we don’t even know if I am pregnant, so—”
“How soon can you find out?”
She pressed her lips together to make him think she had to recall it, when it was right there at the forefront of her mind. “Saturday. First thing.”
“Let me know, either way.”
She nodded. “Of course.”
To her surprise, he caught her by the hand, his thumb skimming along the back of hers. “I’m sorry, Leda. I don’t know what else to say.”
“Don’t be sorry,” she said, trying to keep her voice light, as if she wasn’t at all worried. “We fucked up. It happens. I tried to right it. Plan B is pretty effective, so we probably don’t have anything to worry about anyway.”
His thumb brushed along her hand again, and he shifted to link his fingers with hers. Heat swept through her, and her heart hammered her ribs as she looked up at him. She didn’t want to speak the words now hovering at her lips, but had no choice. “But, I’ve been thinking. Maybe we should just kind of cool down a little for now. Maybe the universe is trying to tell us something.”
His eyes widened, but only briefly and he eased his hand free as he bobbed his head. “Yeah. You’re probably right. We played with fire once. We keep doing it and one or both of us will eventually get burned.” He folded his arms once more. “If you want to leave, I understand and I’ll pay you for the rest of the month.”
“Do you want me to leave?”
“Not really.” He shook his head. “You’re a good bartender and my customers like you. I like you. But, I’d understand if you were uncomfortable being here.”
“So, I’ll stay then. I’m okay with that.”
“Good.”
“Good.”
A knock sounded at the door and Zana poked her head in. “Thorin, Hank from Riverfront Brewing is here to see you?”
“Yeah? He’s early.” Thorin pushed away from his desk. “So, Leda, you’ll let me know about those dates?”
“I will, sure.”
“Okay. Good.” He moved around to sink into his chair. “Send Hank back, if you don’t mind.”
Leda followed Zana back toward the bar and as they tucked in behind it, she asked, “What was that about?”
“Oh, he wanted to know if I could cover a few Sundays. I guess Amy called him this morning. Something about a broken wrist?”
“Yeah. She broke it swinging her grandson around, if you can believe that.” Zana shook her head as she smiled at the brewery rep. “Thorin’s in his office, Hank. Down the hall and on your left.”
“Thank you.”
Leda swallowed the rising wave of sadness as she moved back behind the bar to take a drink order. She didn’t really want to end things with Thorin, and that bothered her as much as ending things did. She hadn’t counted on feeling this way, since it hadn’t happened in a long time. She usually ended things with a guy because he became too clingy.
Not because her own feelings terrified her to her core.

A 📂 for Chibs?
@vulgar-display-of-escapism
Alright continuing with the theme of animals.
In direct contrast to both Tig and Juice, Chibs has never been a dog person or an any sort of animal person really. He’d once been asked to dog sit Juice’s Jack Russel and the trauma still haunts him. Life was stressful enough without a furry creature relying on you every day to feed, walk and play with it, Juice and his idiocy was enough of a handful on its own.
His daughter, from the first few months she could talk to six years old, had continued to begged him for a cat, despite his repeated refusal. He tries not to think about the fact that one of Jimmy’s first moves, when he’d forced Chibs out of Ireland, was to buy his daughter an overpriced Persian kitten , as if that was somehow better than a moggie.
(ok moving onto less depressing territory)
Every year when the fair came to Charming the Sons had shown their faces, it was a good way to build up community support in the times when it was running low. A game that had gained infamy throughout Charming and caused a headache for many of the Sons was Old Duke’s hook a duck. With the impossible objective of hooking three ducks within a minute it had become a legend to folks coming to the travelling fair, Chibs was yet to see anyone manage it.
One year Juice had gotten more than a little tipsy at the clubhouse and decided to ride over to the fairground to finally defeat the ducks (his own words). Chibs had gone along with him to try to keep him in line (Tig in tow laughing his ass off of course). They both watch as Juice slams a five dollar bill on the table demands their best fishing rod. To the surprise of everyone in the tent, alcohol only seemed to improve Juice’s hooking ability and three ducks were soon lined across the table.
Both the Sons and their small audience look up when the stall owner clears his throat, only to see him holding up a plastic bag with a copper-coloured fish swimming around. Juice being drunk on vodka and exhilaration rides behind Chibs on their way back to his house. Chibs spends the ride making sure his passenger doesn’t fall and crack his head open whilst Tig rides behind them, the goldfish bagged, boxed and tied to the back of the bike.
The next morning Juice and Tig were nowhere to be seen but the fish was in his living room swimming around in the newly installed large tank by the couch. Unsurprisingly neither of them had answered the phone that morning.
Chibs had been convinced it wouldn’t last the week, the fairground goldfish when he was a boy certainly hadn’t. His fish had one eye, too large for even its own fat little body. And its scales were a sickly shade like its orange glow had been diluted beyond recognition. As expressionless as fish tended to be this one was an exception, Chibs had never before seen a fish with a resting bitch face. Against all odds the fish had lived, it had apparently made a deal with the reaper.
As much as he whined about it being forced on him Chibs secretly began to grow attached to the fish (dubbed Doris by one of Opie’s kids). So much so that every time it flipped on its back and played dead he ran to it in panic only for it to regain life a moment later.
Fearing Doris would get lonely Chibs had once gone to the local pet shop and picked up some siblings for him. Only to return a few hours later and find them nowhere to be found. With the fish now having a taste for flesh Chibs was sure to stop sticking his fingers in the water.
After the cannibal incident Chibs had once again tried to unload his fish onto Juice only for him to say that he would, but his dog tries to eat any living thing in his house.
He watches Chibs walk away with confusion, hearing him mutter that his dog could, ‘’Bloody well try.’’
