I despise Lady Mowbray. There I said it. She’s the very epitome of the rich people in this country who believe anyone else is there specifically to serve them at the cost of their health, wellbeing, livelihood and yes, their lives too. Their families have been here forever, they own half the land and they genuinely believe the rest of us are lucky to be able to lick their boots. Them hunting the catering staff is not a surprise, it’s very much the kind of thing they do.
The real monster is the caterer, who when given a chance, decides not to protect his friends and colleagues but turns on them instead. I think that’s the real horror of this casement - not Lady Mowbray, behaving as her family’s behaved for generations, but the caterer who decides to behave just like her.
(And that’s why politics in this country is so fucked up, for a little social context).
Anyway, the implication that she knows the Bouchards in Cheshire shows that the Bouchards are the same kind of over-privileged pricks. The kind of people to produce a government minister every generation. (And an army officer and it used to be the third would go into the church but now they become business entrepreneurs).
Interestingly, these same kind of families often produce a rebellious daughter who go against everything the family stands for (look at the Mitford girls for example).
(And I also think Gertrude would despise Lady Mowbray. Gertrude fights. Lady Mowbray takes. And then I hope Gertrude would brutally pipe murder her. Ooh - it could still happen…)
EDIT - just want to mention - as a character she’s brilliant, everything that I hate in real life condensed into a horror character and doing what horror does best - shows us the real horror of authority

Obviously everyone is criticising Gwen for her 'she's a lady' stance and obvs very happy to see Lena rip her a new one for endangering the team and very onboard with the Gwen is a nepo-baby meta.
BUT so far the only legitimate entity that we know Gwen has met was massacre mr Blobby. So if that was my only experience with the supernatural I might take what appears to be a normal human woman as a blessing (and okay yes, there is the added she is of a class that Gwen is familiar with and respects) Like Gwen wasn't there when the recording was played, so she doesn't actually know what Lady Mowbray has done, she doesn't know about the murder/cannibalism. What she does know is that there are perfectly normal humans (her, Lena, the higher ups) involved in monitoring the supernatural. Why wouldn't she assume Lady Mowbray is one of them instead of of the evil hunt people for sport variety?

Wow this episode is so full of stuff!!! The statement and metaplot are both super meaty.
Initial thoughts:
- Very curious to see where sam x alice x celia ends up because it's not looking like a typical love triangle. I wonder if it will end up as a poly relationship.
- The statement itself was cool. It also felt like a very overplayed trope though... the rich hunting the poor for sport is hardly unique as a concept (Most dangerous game, etc.), even with the novel innovation that they had to kill each other first.
- Definitely hunt coded... Is it some sort of new hunt/flesh synthesis? The cannibalism is a new thing for Hunt related stuff.
- I love Lady Mowbray as a character.... Like a fully evil Gertrude. She's apparently involved in ARG stuff but I have no idea what.
- Does Lady Mowbray detect that Celia is from another world? the dialogue and transcript certainly suggest as much.
- Wild that Lady M knows Gwen's family. I wonder if this is the type of "external" that will bring Gwen back into her comfort zone.
- The return of the tape recorder and Alice encounters someone who is raving about The Deep. Is it related to the tattoo from a few episodes ago?
- Was the victim's madness caused by the tape recorder? or did it just show up to record it? It certainly seems almost Compulsion/statement-like
- It was implied in a previous episode (11 I think) that Alice was being followed by [ERROR], who is the creature most directly associated with Magnus and the Tape recorder. I wonder if they are related to the current happening.

This case was fascinating! It's definitely leaning more towards the actual Fears we know than what we've heard in Protocol (of course it still has different elements). And the compulsion for the victim feels much more overt than other similar cases, although that could be because Lady Mowbray is right there at the hunting party. And I'm sure we all know that she is one of the externals and we'll be seeing plenty of her in the future (given that she was anounced along with the main cast)
And I really liked that bit with her and Celia. Brings up more questions: can she tell that Celia is from another universe then and that's why she calls her brave and odd? or more like she senses that she's different but can't tell why exactly? (that goes with her What is that?) would her compulsion affect Celia the same? or does she have some sort of protection because she works for the OIAR?

hey, would you be willing to explain what happened in the ARG to me?
i didn't find out about it until it was over and now i'm a bit (very) lost
A lot of stuff! Including us breaking things multiple times.
Here's RQ's official recap (it leaves out a bunch of details, but it does provide some extra information about behind the scenes stuff and the intended story).
If you want more details, this YouTube video sums it up pretty well.
Reading/watching the links above should tell you basically everything, but in case you're eye-aligned or something, here are even more sources:
This was a Google Doc we had during the ARG to keep track of what we found. It's not in chronological order and contains a few loose ends that didn't end up being relevant.
And if you, for some reason, want to read over 200 pages detailing all the events of the ARG, here's a timeline.
I'm pretty sure all of the websites made for the ARG are down now, so unfortunately you can't view them yourself. However, @strangehauntsuk and the OIAR channel are still up. If you want to see something specific, you can ask in the Statement Remains Discord server (it's 18+ though!) and someone will probably have it downloaded. (If you're under 18, send me an ask and I'll see if I can find it for you.)
If you are too lazy to do any of that, TLDR: alchemy is relevant somehow, the OIAR stopped associating with Starkwall in 2000 (or at least that's what they claim), there's this creepy park mascot named Bonzo, a German conspiracy theorist disappeared after finding stuff about the Magnus Institute, the Magnus Institute did ethically questionable psychological tests on children (including Sam, "Connor Dyer", and Gerry. Yes, that Gerry), there was a file named "klaus" that looked like OIAR records but in German?, the German translation of DPHW is TSHU, Lady Mowbray is... well uh... we don't really know anything about her, but she seems cool, some spooky ritual thing happened in 1996, FR3-D1 and JMJ (whatever that is) are very sus. (That's the gist of it, but obviously there's a lot more.)

tmagp 16 relisten notes!!
spoilers for ep 16 under the cut, and also some tma spoilers as well since i cross-reference for theories! :)
celia:
- she physically and verbally comforts alice even though they've had some rocky interactions in the recent past, and she comes off as genuine when giving alice her support
- "i believe you/im serious" -> there isn't a glitch after these lines, and i think its fair to say celia is from the tma universe, the question now is how much she knows/understands/remembers from the fearpocolypse
sam:
- despite being more distant with alice in recent episodes, he's still helping her and checking up on her
- "so that would be Z for zombie?" i thought this was a cute little callback, but also isolated the line because its the first instance we have of sam initiating a bit/joke and alice failing to continue it
- he checks in on alice after they hear Madam E die in the incident and leaves his desk with celia to see about her after she leaves
alice:
- "i haven't seen someone die since..." im taking this to mean that she saw one or both of her parents die and a part of why the drowning victim has shaken her so hard is because its a flashback to those memories
- the woman she met in the alleyway was announced dead by the paramedics immediately, they said she had a lot of water in her lungs and discounted the possibility she could walk or speak
- "maybe that i'm finally losing it" -> i dont think alice is as knowledgeable about the paranormal as we think. she definitely knows more than shes letting on, but i suspect whatever she knows is specific to the oiar and whatever power has touched her life. similar to georgie in tma s3, she knew the paranormal existed and trusted in jon's circumstances but she had little context for her belief, since the only fear she had encountered before was the end. i think alice is operating under a similar world view, and this event does make her question her sanity (shes mentioned old coworkers going odd before, and i think its a genuine worry she has for herself as well as sam and celia)
- she's very blunt and obviously upset after the incident ends, leaving to go get coffee and rebuffing sam as he tries to see about her
gwen:
- she's frustrated that the rest of the team left after the incident and she's alone in the office, and becomes even more aggravated by lena interrupting this to berate her
- she defends lady mowbray's civility (after lena calls externals dangerous) by saying shes a real lady, implying that since she's nobility she wouldn't behave rashly (like mr. bonzo)
- she's frustrated that lena is reprimanding her for breaking a rule she was never told about, and isn't given enough information to gauge risk on her own
- she expresses stress over the real dangers of her job, feeling its unfair she's expected to talk to externals alone without training when they're too dangerous and unpredictable to visit the offices
- despite all of her concerns, she still demands to keep her position and continue her work
lena:
- she's very (reasonably) angry at gwen for inviting lady mowbray to the office
- she says that bringing externals to the office is dangerous and poses risks to personnel
- she explains that the operation to keep balance with the externals, and to exercise power over them, is dependent on how they keep relationships with them. as in, the externals have to be kept at an arms length and not introduced to internal affairs staff to avoid losing the fear and respect the oiar exerts over them. without control over the externals, they lose balance and they may become targets
- she agrees to think on training gwen for a full position as the externals liason
incident:
- narrated by chester/jon, i think this falls into his normal thematic elements of curiosity killing the cat
- most of the incident is told through youtube video format, voiced by the influencer 'Madam E', a goth (im assuming beauty and lifestyle vlog influencer?) youtuber. She got to know ink5oul through online connections
- she received a heart tattoo (unsure of the placement, but i was imagining it over her real heart or ribcage?)
- the tattoo process seems incredibly painful even in this circumstance, and just like in ep 2, the recipient doesnt seem to know the design theyll get until they wake up from the session
- i think the heart tattoo (called the heart's desire by ink5oul) played a role in manipulated Madam E's emotions for them, seeing as how they began a (using ajn's exact terms) situationship following the session
- when Madam E questions ink5oul about how they come up w their design concepts they get cagey and won't disclose their secret method, but offer Madam E a chance to grave rob with them (assuming this is related to the design process)
- "dig." [bruh!] gave me hp damage
- "don't make me break your heart" this is obviously referring to the tattoo and her emotional state, but i think it ties into the tattoo manipulating the subject -> "i could feel the words in my chest"
- Madam E throws out the idea that ink5oul is stealing tattoo concepts from dead bodies, but i dont think thats the exact case. i think that bodies like the one found in ep 11 feed into ink5oul's power and creativity as inspiration and likely as a paranormal energy source of some kind, but this seems more akin to them studying the works of old important artists (and alchemists) and using those techniques to create their art
- ink5oul responds with a callout video targeting Madam E, and i suspect it was about her accusing them of stealing art, not about the grave robbing (which seems a bigger insult to me)
- "it hurts/ i can feel it" referencing the hate messages she's receiving while touching her heart. she then leans forward to show the camera you can physically see a difference (im assuming her tattoo was altered in some way)
- Madam E posted and recalled a video titled "help", then posts a video from a hospital bed where she is clearly ill, stating she has heart problems. the doctors said it was an infection from the tattoo
- she dies on-screen after coughing and choking, but theres a slushie cracking sound as she flatlined (what i'de call wet gore not dry gore) which indicates a problem messier and more visceral than regular heart issues
glitches/lies:
none
extra comments:
- as expected, ink5oul is going to be a reoccurring character functioning similar to a tma avatar. i don't think ink5oul is an external since they seem to be moving independently with their own agenda (and its clear they don't play well with others)
- there seems to be a rift forming between gwen and the rest of her coworkers, and she's been reacting hostile to both them and lena, but has been adamant about continuing her work with the externals. isolating herself from the others while conducting her own missions is a plotline johhny and alex explored plenty in tma (jon, basira, martin) so im excited to see how her journey branches from the themes they've already explored
- this incident falls into line with others chester has narrated, it deals with a person who sought out a relationship with the paranormal and got hurt because of it, though this seems to be targeted at alice moreso than sam (the person chester has narrated to the most), sending a message about how entanglement with the paranormal often leads to bad things. i also picked up on how Madam E says that comments, likes, and views specifically cause her harm, that her social reward had turned into a punishment. this is a pretty clear parallel to alice's situation with sam and celia (she's loosing her hold as the nonchalant, uncaring, funny girl and falling into more awkward and upsetting situations -> this episode she makes one half hearted joke about the victim she met before she moves on)
- huge shout out to ajn for the meta parallels in this episode. every time Madam E was hurt by a commebt i was also brutally stabbed by her garish use of slang. with every new sentence she spoke i felt hours of my lifespan dissolve, truly incredible writing in terms of twisting the meta knife and pouring lemon juice into it
- i think this falls into the category of 'body' (going off of the alchemic trinity of mind, body, and soul) but i could see an argument for any of these categories as well. in the episode, the incident is a category 1, but im not sure if these categories are a reference to the alchemic trinity, to externals, or other factors.

Okay I have thoughts about our lovely (kinda) new addition of Lady Mowbray.
I actually quite like Lady Mowbray and how, though clearly some variation of The Hunt, she deviates from what we know about it. Which of course has been what is generally happening with most of these aligned cases. Or how we align then automatically, anyway. I think there are some fun differences in her function in causing a chase instead of being apart of it.
She is less about instinct and survival, like what we have come to commonly associate with The Hunt, and more about exerting control and compelling people to fulfill her own will. One way or another. Her wants just happen to be power over others—more so than she already has as an aristocratic of some kind. It does sort of make me wonder if the sense of control came first, and the ability to “compel” people, or the desire to contribute to a hunt. And you know, eat people, I guess.
I think it is notable that she has dogs. A whole pack of them. She commands them. A pack of predators. And does not count herself among them. Holding them on a tight leash without disobedience, as she does with people. That itself is just another show of her influence and I would say her domestication of The Hunt.
At least to me that is what this feels like, domestication.
Also another one. I know this is from the caterers point of view, but I think it is notable that she is described as seeing people as “assets” or “resistance” so there is still that sense of dehumanization but on a more technical…calculated level. It’s not predator and prey. Either people elevate her or they don’t. She turns other people into predators and prey. Again, this is entertainment, like the chase is meant to be—but less involved because she has literally seems to have but a leash on The Hunt, more or less.
She is control incarnate I suppose? This blooming authority. Also like that we called this “her domain” always fun to have that terminology return :)
I also think the framing of her being akin to a Roman statue is basically just calling her god like? Something larger than life anyway, superior, and perhaps not of this time…not of this world maybe? Her and Celia seemed…weirdly knowing. Celia especially. Though that might be Celia being able to identify that she is an avatar of something and knowing what that means for people. And just having listened to a case about her. But I don’t know, it seemed more personal. And Lady Mowbray certainly seemed to take a liking so???
But yeah she has tangible (wealth) and physical (beauty and a viable weapon) influence. Therefore she commands people to listen. To silence. To kill. And then she ends the cycle because she can. And again. It is something simple, a gun, clean and cold.
I mean our caterer literally calls her a matriarch so. Again. Matriarch of the hunt I would say, or what is left of it. In this new world lol.
I also just like “Most Dangerous Game” type archetypes so. I just think she is neat. It isn’t exactly the same, because again she isn’t really doing the chase herself, I think she enjoys watching it happen to others more. She just has to kill the survivors to keep the game going. Wouldn’t be any fun if people knew what to expect after all?

TMAGP 15 Thoughts: Seasoned Hunters
What a fucking episode. No complaints at all. It's just solid gold all the way through and just like gold it's a dense so there is lots to dig in to, and not much point in a preamble.
Spoilers for episode 15, and all of TMA, below the cut.
I really like the introductory office drama portion of today's episode. It's not particularly enlightening, and there isn't anything new in it, but it sets the stage well. Yes, that was a pun. Alice reacted to the news as I knew she would, because she can't help herself. But other than that I really like the mention of Luke playing at The Glad. Magnus stuff always does a really good job of peppering in real places.
This incident was also incredibly short. However unlike last week's episode I think it utilised that time so much better. All of it was a slow build up to one event and was really just three scenes. Set up, hunt, conclusion. Simple and to the point but incredibly effective. Last week's episode felt like too big of an idea bent to fit too short of a time, while this weeks felt like a good story that was given the time it needed and no more or less. Really big fan of the whole thing.
The incident didn't have too much to really get into here. If I were live blogging you would've seen me say "Lady Mowbray?!?!" when the Caterer said "the really high-end stuff". I have been waiting for something aristocratic. The set up is a little cliché but I really like the subversion of Battle Royale instead of The Most Dangerous Game. It's not only an effective twist when the story is from the Caterer's PoV it's a much better insight into the characters were being introduced to. It also highlights something fairly interesting about TMP vs TMA. This incident is one of the most singular in terms of its representation of a TMA Entity but that expectation is somewhat subverted by having these characters hunt each other for another rather than all be hunted down. It wouldn't be out of place in TMA but it is taking a bit of a different approach.
Speaking of the characters though. Fuck Yeah. Lady Mowbray. Finally. I, and probably all of Statement Remains, have been waiting for her appearance since last October when some lucky folks got to meet her bodyguards as part of the ARG. I didn't have her pegged for a badass cannibal but here we are. She really surpassed my expectations. I love aristocratic monster people so I had high hopes and I am still pleasantly surprised.
Celia and Lady M's interaction is really great. I love that we're getting more and more evidence that Celia is clearly more than she's letting everyone else in on. I, obviously at this point, think she's from TMA's universe for a lot of reasons. Lady M not being able to place why she smells so wrong but picking up on her being out of place is just more evidence of that. Celia holding her ground and not taking any shit from Lady M is also incredible. She just listened to how she eats people, gets jumped scared by her, and then instantly tells her to fuck off by way of not giving her a name. She's really living up to the Ripley namesake and I love every second of it.
I will not soon forget that tiny little tease about Bouchard lore either. Actually cruel.
Luke and Alice at the bar wasn't a big moment but it's nice to see her interact with more than just her co-workers. Meeting Luke and he being seemingly normal was also nice, be a shame when he dies.
The final section was phenomenal. I really love it when these shows break format and what a format break it was. So first things first this was recorded on a tape recorder. Significant for likely obvious reasons but unlike the last time these showed up this one isn't an incidental placement like the Institute's one. It was being carried by the woman. We know Alice feels like she's been followed since that incident and this is likely related to it but I don't think it's related in the most obvious sense. There is a very obvious conclusion to draw from TMA knowledge but I feel like that might be folly here. It seems a little too obvious and a little too strained at the same time. The Institute and [Error] being so related to that and in this fashion I think would feel a bit forced, and so this feels more like a red herring to me. Something is going on with them but I don't think it's going to be that.
So Drowning Victim, as she is credited, is super intriguing for a million reasons. Continuing on from that prior thought it's quite possible that the tape recorder and Alice being in the same place is entirely coincidental. It's one of those things that feels like a scheme from TMA context but everything being linked feels too TMA to me for right now. But what she's saying is really interesting. Because with those tape recorders it sounds like a statement. It's not just random mumbling but a fairly coherent narrative. Or a recalling of prior events. Whether the Drowning Victim is the original PoV for that potential statement is hard to say. I doubt it but it would be possible. Another strong idea here is that it is linked to [Error] and her deal might be another archive. Instead of just collection and storage she could be able to force others to relive them through the statements. That's a TMA parallel I think would be a much stronger use of TMA's theme.
Outside of that Alice's interaction with her is so so well done. I think it's really important to show that Alice both has a heart and is able to stop with her attitude when it's really important. Getting to see that when push comes to shove she can step up is going to be something that'll come back around. We all know that everyone at the OIAR is in for a world of hurt and I think Alice is the person the fanbase has the biggest issue with in that sort of context so far. And her singing Nellie the Elephant for compression rate is sort of heart breaking to listen to. Just a really fantastic performance from Billie and people better be nicer to Alice after this. I better not hear her getting any shit for running away either. She gave CPR to a woman who basically attacked her, drowned in the middle of London, died, and then kept talking.
Also, quite note, this episode had five new voice actors in it.

Incident/CAT#R#DPHW Master Sheet
Klaus Watch: Wasn't expecting this to return so soon but here we are. This incident doesn't appear on Klaus but what does is this, CAT1RB2373-10072023-########. This has the accompanying note "Dame M" and a location "London, England".
DPHW Theory: 6451 is a pretty reasonable rating for this. Hunting mostly focused on the killing part of it. Some mental compulsion, seclusion, and obviously the predator/prey dynamic. The 1 in Weird is more evidence that 1 is the lowest rating with 0 being the highest. Nothing Weird in this one really.
CAT# Theory: CAT1 has a person in it.
I'm still debating whether to do a post on that theory because part of me does feel like it'd ruin other people's fun. Another part of me thinks that theories as prolific as that deserve to be scrutinised as intently as possible. Although there is a problem with that idea because my DPHW theory that has become the default does seem to be mine and I've not seen any cases of parallel thought on that one. The CAT theory has 10+ individuals all coming to roughly the same conclusion though and I'm not sure if that makes it more fair game or not. I, personally, welcome any challenges to my theories and I know some people who have posted the CAT theory do but that's not the same as them all holding that stance. It's not really possible to single anyone out either as it's not about any single person but the idea itself. IDK, give your thoughts on it.
This one does solidly fit into that theory though.
R# Theory: B sounds good to me. Although it's worth mentioning that there is a hyphen in this header between the rank and the DPHW.
Header talk: Hunt (Aristocratic) -/- Compulsion is interesting for two reasons. First off it being Hunt sort of precludes, secondly Compulsion is a strange filing for this IMO. There was an element of it but it was fairly minor and didn't seem like the thrust of the episode. The Caterer was compelled to be quiet but wasn't forced to hunt the rest of the brigade. He chose that when he realised what Lady M. was getting at.

TMAGP 17 REACTION (SPOILERS AHEAD)
CELIA GIRL WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT DO YOU MEAN AGAIN WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AND WAKING UP ON VEHICULAR ROADWAYS
So she woke up in Oxford that's what I'm hearing. Does girlie go dimension hopping in her sleep but wake up in random places bc of it???
The way Celia said "absolutely" just gave me butterflies also Sam MOVE Alice is right you're like a baby foal now let me show you have to rizz up a milf-
Celia girl what is GOING ON
MAGNUS STATEMENT???? HEY HEY NOW WHAT THE FUCK. WHO HAS THE FILES WITH ALL THE MAGNUS INSTITUTE EXPERIMENTED PEOPLE. I DONT HAVE IT BUT MAYBE WE COULD MATCH THE SUBJECT NUMBER TO A NAME
it is kinda concerning to me that after Celia talks to Sam that we get a MAGNUS statement
BIG SOFT LOOKING GUY WHO STUMBLED OVER EVERY WORD???? BOOKISH LOOKING GUY WITH SERIOUS MILES???? WAIT NO WHAT THE FUCK WAIT WAIT WAIT YOU CANNOT BE SEEIOUS. JONMARTIN???? IS THAT YOU????
Going away for a while???? Lonely-coded lmao and also me-coded
Magnus Institute Outreach Centre??? What the fuck??? They're like. Pretending to be a help center or like. A real institute???
Harcourt House? Sounds like a rich manor or something. A friend of Lady Mowbray's perhaps?
THE OTHER MYSELF???? IM SORRY WHAT THE FUCK NOW????
Meeting a successful version of yourself GONE WRONG
Oh my God wait WAIT IS THIS GUY'S OTHER VERSION FROM A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE??? IS THAT WHY DETAILS ARENT LINING UP FOR THEM????
Holy shit. Holy shit what the fuck. What the FUCK. Oh my God. So this is. This guy is literally just a fucked up person. Like. Dear God.
Oh my God it's his dad. Okay well. If the dad was a shitty person...I mean I don't condone it but I can see why that might have happened?
"Your world and mine are pretty similar" What does that mean????
This kind of reminds me of the statement in TMA season 4 where that woman keeps killing people because she's a good person and donates to charity and can make a difference and deserves to live. I wonder if this was the way she thought in the beginning. Although, she was killing innocent people. This guy killed a sadistic murderer.
This...Kinda also parallel's Not Sasha replacing Sasha and no one knowing it. It's just that Celia isn't actively trying to harm people. At least she seems to feel guilty for replacing this universe Celia??
OH MY GOD CELIA DEFINITELY REPLACED THIS UNIVERSE CELIA. HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. OKAY I DONT KNOW IF SHE KILLED HER BUT SHE DID SOMETHING TO REPLACE THIS WORLD'S CELIA.
JMJ ERROR AGAIN?? but I thought we just found our in universe jmart as well.
Gwen's a tech girlie???? Also Dyhard shippers are being fed this ep lol
Ethernet PROTOCOLS??? Lmao I'm kidding I'm kidding
OH DYHARD SHIPPERS ARE REALLY BEING FED HUH MY GOD SKDHAOJFDB
I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO SAY. SO WE MIGHT HAVE AN IN UNIVERSE JONMARTIN. AND THEN CELIA MAY HAVE MURDERED THE IN UNIVERSE VERSION OF HERSELF TO REPLACE HER. GIRL WHAT THE FUCK. I really hope she didn't murder her but maybe it's like...possession? Body sharing???

Magnus Archives 16! Spoilers below!
Oh, poor Alice. Who’s hugging her? According to the transcript it’s just Celia and there’s comforting stillness (I dunno, sounded more FABRIC RUSTLES to me)
Who did Alice and Sam see die? Did I miss that? Is that something we know? And Celia doesn’t even ask about it as anyone else would so - she knows…
Poor Alice seems so badly shaken, so in need of comfort and protection - I hope she stays safe (as every other character in Magnus who needs comfort and protection stays safe. Nothing bad ever happens to them EVER).
‘I paid my horror dues working here’ damn, Alice knows she is in a horror…and hoped the OIAR would keep her safe.
Bad joke Sam. Very bad joke.
Oh! Oh! A voice for Ink5oul!
Oh my god, Madam Electrum is the worst kind of influencer - totally up her own arse, talks in hashtags and slang she only half understands.
And no, she’s not a proper Goth.
She was DMing Ink5oul? She thought they were friends - even more?
Highgate cemetery? Bit - cliched, isn’t it? And it’s patrolled at night. I know more private cemeteries in London (i absolutely do not hang around in cemeteries after dark. Uh-uh. No way. You’ll never catch me doing something so deliciously dark and forbidden…)
‘Don’t make me break your heart’ ooh, good line…
So - Ink5oul gets ideas from bodies, like the one in Marked?
Look, Madam E, you try to dig into Ink5oul secret, tell everything online, chicken out of the real goth stuff and then mock them online and you’re surprised Ink5oul made a callout video?
What’s the tattoo over her heart? Bees stinging her on her heart over and over again - that sounds like a tattoo needle digging deep..
Sounds like Ink5oul has followers to do their dirty work for them (glad the cats are ok)
‘I just wanted to be noticed’ oh, that’s real. That’s such a cry for help.
And that was Alice listening - Alice who also laughs loud and makes jokes and does everything to draw attention to herself - wanting to be noticed. Wanting to be loved - but everyone leaves her in the end.
Lena is so furious at Gwen bringing Lady Mowbray in! ‘You introduced her to your colleagues! That poses a completely unacceptable risk to your colleagues’
Wait - Lena is worried about the others? Lena wants to protect the others? Lena is trying to make sure they’re safe? Excuse me a second while I readjust all my opinions of Lena. (Maybe that why she couldn’t murder Klaus - not because she was incompetent but because she didn’t want to)
Oh, Gwen. Why didn’t you realise Lady Mowbray is dangerous? I’m rooting for you Gwen, but honestly. This is the kind of behaviour I would expect from the Bouchards of Cheshire - the kind of aristocracy who say ‘Bertie’s a lovely chap, no-one kinder, once beat his valet to death with a shoe but you can’t hold that against him, he’s a sweetie really’
I mean, Gwen is right. Lena is keeping secrets and not training her but now I wonder if she was hoping Gwen could fail so she had a reason not to send her to the Externals - that she was trying to protect Gwen and and all the others?
Ooh, I have a new theory - I already thought Alice was trying to protect everyone and she is trying very hard not to know the horrors. What if Lena is also trying to protect everyone by being the only one who knows all the horrors?
I need more Lena. Right now.
I need someone to love and protect Alice.
Don’t let me down, Gwen

Magnus Protocol 15
Aka the one where I swore a lot.
in somewhat chronological order but no promises:
I'm not sure if I'm more loving Alice trying to get everyone to come see her brother, or cringing from Alice very obviously trying to break up Sam and Celia's date. Just. It's. SO, SO cringe. Yikes. But baby bro! Mmm.
And... baby baby. Celia, didn't tell Sam you had a kid, huh? Would have thought that was fairly basic 'getting to know you' first date shit, but what does my ace ass know?
So. Um. This chef guy. ZERO situational awareness, which is unfortunate for former military. I mean, I guess I can give them points for 'didn't know they were in a horror genre they thought they were on the cooking channel' but. Can it get more obvious?
AND THEN THE LADY COMES IN THE OFFICE, GUYS SHE'S IN THE OFFICE WITH THE DOGS OMFG SHE WORKS FOR THESE PEOPLE HELP CELIA RUN I MEAN DON'T RUN YOU'LL BE DINNER BUT SOMEHOW DON'T BE THERE AND GWEN WTFWTFWTF
Yeah, I was being very normal about this at this point.
Also it's unnerving how many of these... statements? Found recordings? Are very much real time, after Magnus Archives statements usually being at least a few months old if not older.
Also when they were choosing the violence level on this show, they picked 'all'.
What do you mean, the Cheshire Bouchards. Gwen? Gwen, c'mere, I have questions. Starting with: why did Mowbray's dogs seem cowed around you?
Awww, Alice and her bro, SO cute, A++ siblings. Nothing bad will happen to these two ever.
HAHAHAH DUDE THAT THOUGHT LASTED 0.1 SECONDS.
Alice singing a little nursery rhyme under her breath to keep proper pace on the CPR. My heart.
Oh hello tape recorder!
Yeah, this thing is definitely the thing from the institute and my dear Alice it's After You so Please For The Love Of All Things Fluffy, RUN.
Don't run to the office though, not until Lady Hannibal gets her butt out the door.

Does anyone think Lady Mowbray's dogs are her former victims, like Circe from the Odyssey? I don't necessarily know that it fits the themes, but it would be a fun mixture of the flesh and the hunt, and a continuation of how she first figuratively turned chef boy into a hunting dog and had him tree his employee.

Omg HEYYYY folks! So i don’t know if y’all know this.. if you do IRL you definitely do, but I’m a HUGE Magnus protocol Fan! And of course I ADORE The Magnus Archives.
Well- I just listened to episode 15 and I want to talk about it! SPOILERS AHEAD
————————————————————
Last warning!
HOLY FUCKING SHIT TWO ENTITIES SPOTTED KFKSFKSKCMSKKFDMCMMGJSOFNDN
HAPPY STIMMING
My ass could NOT have gotten through this episode without the handy dandy transcripts. They’re easy to find, just look them up lol. Like oh my GOODNESS this episode was a treat!
So I think we can all agree that Lady Mowbray is an avatar of the hunt, right? RIGHT?! Like that is so obvious!! We love to see the hunt again, really it’s just nice to see something familiar again! She seems really interesting, and I found Celia’s interaction with her… interesting. Like my girl Celia INSTANTLY knew something was off, and I think she handled it nicely… maybe TOO nicely. If you know you know ;)
And is it just me, and I might be a little silly here.. but did the Caterer sound familiar? At first when he was kinda panicked he sounded like Tim but then not… thinking back on it doesn’t he sound like the vampire hunter guy? Trevor Herbert? Or is that just wishful thinking?
Now onto Alice and the victim- MY BABY ALICE HAS HER FIRST ENCOUNTER!!! Yay!!!! I always knew she’d be one of the first to get an encounter. I feel so bad for her, she’s so traumatized. But when you belong to a Rusty Quill production, you’re bound to be!
The victim? I’d say probably something to do with the vast, since the vast can be represented in the ocean as well. Though the ocean was a very under utilized vessel of the vast in TMA. Though I have heard some folks saying that it is possible TMAGP has new entities? Who knows!
I heard a few people say some interesting things about Luke and the band he was performing with, saying that they might have had something to do with the victim? I don’t know about that. I guess I didn’t really pick up anything sketch from them. At least it wasn’t Grifters Bone lol!
In any case I adored this episode! Had me sitting on the edge of my seat! I really have to start dedicating more time to my TMA relisten so I can have better theories.
Would anyone like me to start drawing the TMAGP cast? Or TMA cast? I’ll see if I can cook up designs with those lads.
Oh, one final thing… Cheshire Bouchards? What does THAT mean? Is Elias a big figure here? I’m not British, but I’m fairly certain Cheshire is somewhere in England, right?
Anyway I’ve seen Alice become a fan favorite and I have to agree! I love her so much.

Impolite Society
Lady Eugenia Maycock settled herself in the library as her butler, Bowles, placed a tea set and a bowl of gruel on the low table between the two sofas.
She had been feeling poorly for the past week, and her doctor had insisted that a diet of thin gruel and broth would be the best means of balancing her humors. While Eugenia had privately disagreed, her husband had espoused the idea to the servants and they had served her nothing else for several days; the dangers of not bringing at least a few servants from one's old household - not even the kitchen maids would take pity on her and give her some of the serviceable meat pies they served for the downstairs luncheon.
She suppressed a sigh and poured herself a cup of tea, then - after a surreptitious glance around to make sure Bowles had truly left - poured the cream and sugar meant for her cup into the bowl of gruel. It made it palatable, if still not particularly appetizing, and she quickly sipped at the gruel. While the cook for the house made excellent meals, ones that drew many compliments from guests, she also made the worst gruel Eugenia had ever had the misfortune to taste and letting it go cold would only make it worse.
She had just finished and was about to take a restorative sip of tea - black though it was - when the bell sounded at the front door. Eugenia glanced at the clock in surprise; it was only just barely an acceptable hour to expect visitors, and she had sent the kitchen boy Todd around with notes to all her friends about her illness. Who, then, could be at the door?
Her question was answered posthaste as her dear friend Lady Letitia Datchery, Baroness Mowbray, pushed her way past Bowles and into the library.
"My dear Eugenia! Oh you look positively transparent, and I know I am being terribly rude but I simply must tell you the news!"
Eugenia hastily rose from her seat and gestured Letitia to the armchair beside her sofa.
"Not at all Letitia! You are, of course, always welcome in this house. You must forgive my attire, I was not expecting visitors; Bowles, please fetch some more tea and some scones for Lady Letitia, and see if cook has any biscuits as well."
Letitia waved away the apology and Bowles looked between the two women briefly bowing with a courteous "My Lady" and disappearing in that way all good servants could. Letitia settled onto the couch, her elegant skirts more rumpled than the motion would have cause and her hair only barely contained in an updo - there were even a few hairs escaping the pins, little coils hanging loosely in a manner that spoke to haste. Indeed, she could barely contain herself as Bowles reappeared with a new tray, this one containing a larger teapot, an additional teacup, and a plate of scones and a little pot of jam.
It was only when he had placed his bounty on the table - with a murmur to Eugenia about biscuits being forthcoming in another twenty minutes - and withdrew that Letitia began to speak. She didn't even wait for Eugenia to pour, simply dashing right in.
"Oh I know you have been feeling unwell this past week my dear Eugenia, and yet I wish to G-d that you could have been to the Turell ball yesterday evening!"
Eugenia handed her a cup - more cream than tea, as she knew Letitia had particular tastes when it came to blends and had complained the first time she had come to take tea in Eugenia's then-new abode - before refreshing her own with cream and taking one of the scones.
"Why, was it so perfectly dreadful? I had heard it was her first time to host, but her mother has always put on a good party."
Letitia waved vaguely, as if brushing aside some nonsense that had no place whatsoever in the conversation, before taking a scone herself and adding a generous serving of the strawberry jam to the top of it.
"No, no, it was quite a good time - though Lady Petra was there and of course she brought along her beastly man Chompa. Really, I don't know what she sees in the lout, all he does is stuff all the food in his oafish mouth."
Eugenia snickered and took a bite of her scone. It was a very good scone, being neither too dry nor too crumbly, and as it was the first solid food she'd had in a week it tasted as the very manna from heaven. If Lord Chompa had been present, she would not have gotten any and he would have drunk the whole pot of tea besides; she'd attended a party or two where he'd been present before.
"Did you starve the rest of the evening, then?"
Letitia shook her head, dislodging another curl from her coiled hair.
"Oh no, it was too wonderful! I don't know how her staff managed it, but the footman contrived to never get within arm's reach of Chompa! It was the most glorious comeuppance for that bottomless pit, for they passed close enough for him to see the food and smell, but never so closely that he managed to grab a bite! Well, until he stood up and accosted one of them, which was a bit of a disappointment for I've never known the crass fool to be put in his place so solidly."
Letitia took a meditative bite of her jam-smeared scone.
"No, it was a masterstroke worthy of an experienced hostess, and I must regret that what happened later so overshadowed it."
Eugenia raised an eyebrow as she sipped at her tea. Having solid food in her stomach had quite restored her appetite for gossip; whatever had happened later in the ball must surely be the scandal of the Season if it overshadowed someone finally getting the better of Chompa's disgusting displays of gluttony.
"Oh"
Letitia actually put her scone down and leaned over to place a hand on Eugenia's arm, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.
"The Bow Street Runners came and clapped Baron Kingsley in irons!"
Eugenia dropped her teacup, the delicate blue Wedgewood shattering as it met the dark wood floor. Heedless of the mess, Eugenia put her hand to her mouth.
"The Baron! Whatever for?"
Letitia grinned, clearly relishing in Eugenia's shock.
"Nobody knows; well of course, the party couldn't continue after a thing like that! That may not be the worst of it, though, for the Baron."
Eugenia could feel both of her eyebrows rise in disbelief as Bowles and a maid appeared in the door to the library. Bowles held a new cup - from the same set as the old, thankfully - and a plate of fresh biscuits, and the maid had the pieces of the old cup swept up tidily in short order; fortunately, the cup had been empty so no mopping was required.
"Thank you, Bowles, Ailse. What do you mean, not the worst? Surely there can be no worse fate than being pulled in front of the magistrate like some sort of common criminal?"
Letitia giggled. It wasn't a mean giggle, by any means, but it did have the sort of edge to it that meant there was satisfaction to it at another's expense.
"Do you remember the Van der Gunchs? With their perfectly horrible smelters in Cheltenham?"
Eugenia nodded, slightly mystified at the change in topic.
"Well, their youngest - Periwinkle - was at the party, brandishing a weapon - do you remember the incident at the Tremaines' hunting party last year? Some silly clunch gave her another gun - and the Baron took it away from her and removed the cartridges from it in a very professional manner before storing it in his own pocket. Well, you know how the silly chit is about her guns so she is convinced he is in love with her and she is, of course, head over heels for him, and all she need do to hear wedding bells is remove the bars from around her beloved!"
Eugenia did indeed remember the incident at the hunting party; Periwinkle's then-fiance had indulged her unbecoming interest in firearms and brought her on a grouse hunt. Neither of them would say what exactly had happened, but young Bray had been confined to bed for several weeks with a bullet lodged in his thigh and the betrothal had been broken rather frostily.
She pursed her lips.
"Well, it cannot be the worst match; I hear the Baron has gambling debts in need of honoring, and the Van der Gunchs are a very rich family - indeed, I imagine her mama is all but salivating over the Baron's title. I would be surprised if she didn't push for the idea harder than Periwinkle."
Letitia laughed, a bright and happy sound, and the conversation wound away from the fraught Turell ball.
