Looking at the Monsters Manual for fun encounters and NPCs for my players like I'm a housewife looking at a home appliance catalog for fun trinkets to buy.
Almost two and a half years ago, I posted a picture I found of Rahadin in my CoS Discord. It was of him staring at a frog. I had no context for it - I just thought it was funny.
Tonight I found out what my DM meant when she said, "plz stop posting pictures of this man we're getting into spoiler territory."
no matter what cernea does, the ones she loves will always leave. her biological family never cared for her. almari died. hive handed itself over to the cult. the party split up. she will never, ever have a family. there is no happy ending for her, and there never was. she doesn’t have anyone. there’s nothing she can do to change that, that’s just how it is. ^_^!
My SOTDQ character is a Kagonesti Elf, and since 5e is retconning a bunch of old Dragonlance Lore, I’m purposely avoiding the uncomfortable (read, weirdly racist) bits of the old Kagonesti lore.
My girl is aggressively Irish diaspora coded because that’s part my own heritage, and the dynamic between the Kagonesti and other elves remind me a bit of the Irish vs the British anyways. I would 100% unknowingly fuck something up if I played the whole “they’re Native Americans, but elves!” thing that old canon had going on straight.
I started my first D&D campaign today and LET ME GUSH ABOUT !!!!!!! my reborn half-elf, former ranger who follows the village children around and strings their bows for them.
