The circular temple was found at the El Tigre archaeological site in Mexico's Yucatán peninsula
Archaeologists in Mexico have unearthed the remains of a circular temple that may have been built in honor of the Maya serpent deity Kukulcán (also spelled K'uk'ulkan).
The roughly 1,000-year-old temple was found in El Tigre, an archaeological site in the Yucatán Peninsula, and served as one of the ancient Maya's last settlements according to a translated National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) statement.
Excavations revealed that the circular structure contained two levels and at one time would've been capped off with a flat roof.
"This building broadens our knowledge of the late occupation of El Tigre," Diego Prieto Hernández, an anthropologist and director general of the INAH, said during an Oct. 30 press conference, according to Mexico News Daily. "Circular structures generally correspond to the early Postclassic period between A.D. 1000 and 1200, when the Maya zone had links with other regions of Mesoamerica, in particular with central Mexico, Oaxaca and the Gulf Coast."
He said that at one time the structure would have been "of great importance" to the Maya, according to Mexico News Daily.
Researchers think that the temple may be the same one written about in a historical document known as the "Paxbolón Maldonado Papers," which was penned by Don Pablo Paxbolón, who served as the Chontal chief (leader of the Maya people in the Mexican state of Tabasco) between 1575 and 1576. The text includes details of temples in El Tigre (described in the papers as "Itzamkanac") that were dedicated to the four main deities of the Postclassic Maya, including Kukulcán, a deity that is closely related to Quetzalcoatl of Aztec mythology, according to the statement.
This isn't the first circular structure found in the Yucatán peninsula. Similar sites have been discovered in Edzná, Becán, Uxmal and Chichen Itzá, according to the statement.

FRANCISCA DE GAZMIRA (La Palma)
Personaje femenino perteneciente al bando de Adirane cautivada antes de 1489, año en que ya se documenta la venta de esclavos palmeros en Valencia. Fue obligada a ser intermediaria entre los suyos y el Cabildo de Gran Canaria y el gobernador Maldonado, en los años precedentes a la invasión castellana de la isla de Benahuare:
“Entre finales de 1491 y abril de 1492, Maldonado, el Obispo de Canarias y el Cabildo catedral, prepararon la conquista de Tenerife y La Palma. Remitieron como emisario a Francisca de Gazmira (palmera), ama del regidor Diego de Zurita, la cual convenció, (engañada por los cristianos que le prometieron su libertad) a los principales jefes palmeros llevándolos a Gran Canaria donde fueron bautizados y devueltos a su isla con la consigna de hacer proselitismo entre su gente. El camino quedaba acondicionado para el taimado y ambicioso Alonso Fernández de Lugo” (F. Morales Padrón, 1978).
Francisca de Gazmira se constituye, después de la invasión de La Palma en 1493, en la defensora de sus hermanos isleños esclavizados ante la justicia española. Aparece también como Francisca de La Palma denunciando a Lugo al que acusa de vender como esclavos a 22 muchachos palmeros como rehenes de los convertidos y cautivar a cien más, matar a dos cabezas del bando territorial, impedirle salir de la isla para defender sus derechos, agraviar a sus parientes y robarles su ganado (Dto. del 28-02-1495, E. Aznar Vallejo, IEC, 1981).
Las Crónicas históricas refieren la resistencia y rebelión de los benahoritas al esclavismo de Lugo:
“Los palmeros, como vieron a Alonso de Lugo fuera de la isla, levantáronse más de trescientos palmeros, los cuales hacían mucho daño. Desto fue avisado Alonso de Lugo, que estaba en Tenerife(…) y mandó por capitán de la isla de La Palma, para que la quietase, a Diego Rodriguez de Talavera (…) y con ellos, después de algunos reencuentros que tuvo, los desbarató, aunque le costó algunos soldados que le mataron y muchos heridos” (Abreu Galindo, 1602, Ed. 1977).
Más adelante, en 1500, una vez incorporada la isla a la Corona española, Francisca de Gazmira presentó un litigio en la Corte en defensa de los palmeros bautizados de los bandos de paces y esclavizados por Lugo, que intentó sobornarla sin éxito para anular su denuncia:
“1500 Julio 25. Granada. Iniciativa a don Juan de Silva, conde de Cifuentes, alférez mayor y miembro del Consejo, para que determine en el pleito de algunos canarios, que dicen ser libres y estar sometidos a servidumbre(…) estando suficientemente probado su justicia por el hecho que doña Inés Peraza diese a Francisca de Gazmira 60.000 maravedís para que no continuase el litigio…” (E. Aznar Vallejo, “Dtos. canarios en el Registro del Sello”, 1446-1517, IEC, 1981).
En relación al hábitat de Francisca de Gazmira, que dio origen a su antropónimo, el siguiente documento aclara su ubicación:
“Sevilla, 27 de junio de 1500…estando en las yslas de La Palma e Tenerife, puede aver syete años poco más o menos, diz que tomó por propia abtoridad treynta e tres vecinos de la ysla de La Palma del bando de Gazmira, a donde dicen las cuevas de Herrera, y los cabtivó a todos e a sus mujeres e fijos e familia, seyendo como diz que heran christianos e de pazes…”(A.Rumeu de Armas, “La política indigenista de Isabel la Católica”, 1969)
Gazmira < lit:”wa s iemira”=”este (lugar) a (hacia) lo abierto”, del vb.“ar, iura”(R)=”abrir” y de la variante participal “mar, iemira”=”estar abierto” (Ch. Foucauld, 1951, dial. tuareg Ahaggar). Evolución: “wa s iemira > wasmira > guazmira > gazmira”, por contracción, conversión labio-velar “wa>gua” y cambio “s>z” en el sistema fonético del dialecto tahaggart. Podría asociarse pues a un lugar abierto o espacioso después de traspasar un lugar estrecho. Si nos atenemos a la información que transmiten las Crónicas históricas se confirma la ubicación y las dos entradas o pasos a la Caldera de Taburiente:
“Tazacorte y Los Llanos, hasta donde dicen las Cuevas de Herrera, Amagar, Tijuya, todo este espacio y término de tierra llamaban antiguamene los palmeros en general Adirane (…) la otra entrada, más común y frecuentada, se llama Adamancasis, que es por las Cuevas que dicen de Herrera” (Abreu Galindo, 1602, Ed. 1977).
La voz Adamancasis < “at amânkad tizi”=lit:”el gran capitán el paso” o “el paso del gran capitán” (en relación a Atanausu, jefe del cantón de Azeró), de donde “amânkad”=” hombre que va delante, capitán”(dial. tuareg Ahaggar) y “tizi”=”paso, desfiladero (dial. kabilio) >”adamancazizi >adamancasis(i)”, por cambios fonéticos “t>d”, “t>z” y “z>s”. Este topónimo se refiere claramente al llamado “Paso del capitán” y, por extensión, a El Paso, municipio palmero. Por consiguiente, las Cuevas de Herrera en las que vivía Francisca de Gazmira se ubicarían al suroeste del núcleo poblacional de El Paso, en territorio “abierto” o llano, próximo al Paso de Abajo y Tajuya y en definitiva en la divisoria de los cantones de Adirane y Azeró, aunque en territorio de Adirane o “bando de paces”.
La política esclavista castellana se produjo antes y al final de la década de los 80 del s.XV en La Palma. Así, en un documento del 9 de enero de 1489 quedaron registrados en el libro de cuentas del Maestre Racional del reino de Valencia los detalles económicos de la venta de una “cautiva canaria de once años, llamada Isabel”. En ese año los invasores castellanos esclavizaban a cientos de indígenas canarios y canarias, una de ellas esta niña palmera de once años, de la que se sabe que su comprador fue un mercader español llamado Miguel de Urrea. El nuevo amo tenía el poder de “venderla, enajenarla y hacer según su propia voluntad, así como a cada señor le es lícito y permitido hacer de sus cosas propias” ("La Conquista de las Islas Canarias a través de las ventas de esclavos en Valencia", V.Cortés, AEA, 1955).

Black is Beltza is a duology of comics, the first one was published in 2014 and the second in 2022, and they have been adapted into two Basque animated films recently in 2018 and 2022, Black is Beltza and Black is Beltza II: Ainhoa.
One of the main things of the comics are the sociopolitical environment of the places and the period the films are set in, for example the first one is set in the 60's mainly in New York and the sequel is set in the 80's and among other places, in Pamplona.

Ainhoa was born by a miracle in La Paz (Bolivia) after the death, in a parapolice attack, of her mother Amanda. She grew up in Cuba and in 1988, at the age of 21, she traveled to the Basque Country to see the land of his father Manex. In the middle of the repressive conflict, she meets Josune, a committed journalist, and her gang of friends. When one of them dies of a heroin overdose, Ainhoa and Josune set out on an initiation journey that will take them through Lebanon, Afghanistan and the city of Marseille. These are the last years of the Cold War and both will delve into the dark world of drug trafficking networks and their close ties to political plots.

Argentine Rugby Los Pumas will play host to France in two test matches.
The Argentine Rugby Union declared on Thursday that Argentina will play a one-off international against neighboring Uruguay and host France in two tests in July, marking their first match since the Rugby World Cup of last year.
The first test between the French visitors will take place in Mendoza on July 6 and the second match will take place in Buenos Aires on July 13 at the Velez Sarsfield stadium.
On July 20, Argentina will next cross the border to play Uruguay at Maldonado. The three tests are in preparation for this year’s Rugby Championship, which the Pumas begin with two away clashes against New Zealand, starting in Wellington on Aug. 10 and then Auckland on Aug. 17.

Street, 92102 with RHONDA GAMBLE HOLMES, mgr. i didn't. i decided to finish school, called david maldonado at UCLA, he advised me to finish my last three classes, which were 2 economics classes, and 1 statistics class, all 3 were general electives. it was more expensive, ~4000$ a quarter at ucla. that's all i did; 2 class, 1 stats and 1 econ at MESA CITY COLLEGE and one extension class at SAN DIEGO STATE; i applied for a BOGW -board of governor fee waiver grant, which paid for my units, at mesa, i had little money from work in los angeles, so i paid the extension class with that. books were not that expensive. i took my transcripts for those classes, physically went over to los angeles onto campus at UCLA, it was "quieter", i turned IN my units to the REGISTRAR's office in murphy hall, i was told CONGRATULATIONS, and i finished my degree with a little over 180 units. It's called graduating IN ABSENTIA. these are the facts.

La Fiesta del Deporte 2023 está a punto de comenzar, y con ella, se revelarán los nombres de los atletas que han dejado una marca imborrable en sus respectivas disciplinas. ¡Acompáñanos en esta celebración deportiva única!
Un Reconocimiento Especial
Como cada año, la Fiesta del Deporte rompe con la tradición al no elegir un ganador único por categoría. En cambio, cada deportista nominado recibirá una mención especial por su destacada actuación. Además, se otorgarán reconocimientos a la trayectoria, a la revelación del año y al Deportista del Año, un título codiciado que corona al máximo exponente del mundo deportivo.
Detalles del Evento
La cita es este miércoles, desde las 20:30, en el Anfiteatro “Alfredo Williner”, se realizará la Fiesta del Deporte y Elección del Deportista del Año 2023 de Rafaela.
El evento es resultado del incansable trabajo de la Subsecretaría de Deportes y Recreación, en colaboración con diversas áreas, que se han esmerado en cada detalle para garantizar una velada inolvidable.

Lo sé, fui una tonta, hasta por un momento me creí Frida Kahlo. Primero por estar enamorada de un "Don Diego" ¿Qué chingaos le vi? ¡Ja!
La verdad, no hay nada ahí.
Segundo, por verme así sufrida, destrozada por un amor de migajas, por uno, que bueno, creo que nos pasa a todas en algún momento, cegada de todo, cuándo él hace lo mismo con todas....Va y se porta como todo un galán, halaga las letras y la belleza, lo natural y la sonrisa y luego les pregunta en forma poética: –¿Quién será el afortunado? La mujer amante y yo, yo sería su esclavo.
En ese momento que vi todo ese show, ni siquiera me dio rabia, tampoco sentí celos, más bien se abrieron mis alas, tanto que las mismas plumas me quitaron la venda que yo misma me había puesto.
¡Qué decepción! Ni siquiera cambia su versión, o al menos que se esfuerce un poco por crear un diálogo diferente. Simplemente vi una vil copia de lo que él llegó a hacer en mí.
Luego suspiré, inhale hondo, me tragué el humo tóxico del desamor y lo llevé a mi estómago para terminar de envenenar las mariposas que seguían vivas por él. Volví a suspirar y con la exhalación del aire que venía desde mi vientre, terminé de vomitar lo inevitable, las pocas mariposas de amor que existan por ti.
Ahora respiro sin dolor, porque me culpe mil veces por tu ausencia, me castigue por ser intensa, desprecié por un momento todo el Inmenso caos que soy y vaya, vaya qué sí me di látigos de dolor, fui masoquista por no querer soltarte, por aferrarme a lo mismo que acabo de ver, por ser ilusa y creer en el amor, por ser torpe y en medio de mi perversión, brilló la inocencia del amor.

Cañar registra 21 precandidatos a asambleístas
La provincia elegirá a tres legisladores. Los aspirantes representan a siete agrupaciones políticas.
En la provincia del Cañar existen 21 precandidatos a legisladores con sus respectivos suplentes para las elecciones anticipadas del 20 de agosto. Se trata de rostros conocidos y otros nuevos que buscan un curul en la próxima Asamblea Nacional.
Los habitantes de los siete cantones elegirán a tres asambleístas. La Junta Provincial Electoral del Cañar registró hasta el pasado 13 junio -concluyó el plazo de inscripciones- a este número de precandidatos que son auspiciados por siete agrupaciones políticas.
Las organizaciones son: Revolución Ciudadana (RC) lista 5; Movimiento Acción Movilizadora Independiente Generando Oportunidades (AMIGO) lista 16; Partido Socialista Ecuatoriano (PSE) lista 17; Movimiento de Unidad Plurinacional Pachakutik lista 18; Construye lista 25. Y, las alianzas “Claro que si se puede”, integrada por los movimientos Unidad Popular (UP) y Democracia Si listas 2–20; y “Actuemos”, por AVANZA y SUMA, listas 8-23.
Rostros
La alianza “Claro que si se puede” confía en Diego Ormaza para que lidere la terna de aspirantes al Legislativo. Ormaza es uno de los políticos que reapareció en las pasadas elecciones seccionales del 5 de febrero tras ejercer el cargo de prefecto del Cañar por dos ocasiones consecutivas entre los años 2000 y 2009.
En las pasadas seccionales intentó llegar otra vez a la Prefectura. Sin embargo, ocupó el tercer lugar detrás de Marcelo Jaramillo, actual prefecto; y Belisario Chimborazo, exalcalde de Cañar.
La RC apuesta por Blasco Luna para encabezar su nómina. Luna es uno de los exlegisladores que fueron cesados con el decreto presidencial de “Muerte cruzada”. Este decreto disolvió la pasada Asamblea Nacional para convocar a nuevos comicios.
Además, es uno de los principales líderes del Correísmo en la provincia. Su gestión fue clave para generar acuerdos entre su organización con otros movimientos a fines a la tendencia de Izquierda para ganar en las últimas seccionales la Prefectura y tres alcaldías del Cañar.
Mientras, la alianza AVANZA-SUMA tiene a Jaime Lima como su primer aspirante. Se desempeña como médico y es uno de los precandidatos más jóvenes a la Asamblea.
Lima fue en las pasadas seccionales candidato a la alcaldía de Azogues. En esa oportunidad participó por el movimiento Nueva Generación.
De su lado, la organización AMIGO tiene a Carlos Julio León como su principal carta para la Asamblea. Ocupó la presidencia de la Junta Parroquial de Javier Loyola (Azogues), además trabajó en calidad de asistente del exasambleísta Virgilio Saquicela.
Precisamente, Saquicela, es quien comanda la terna del PSE a pesar de los desacuerdos entre los delegados provinciales y nacionales de esta organización.
Ejerció la presidencia de la extinta Asamblea Nacional. Igualmente, se desempeñó como concejal y alcalde de Azogues.
Pachakutik presenta a Fabiola Sanmartín como la primera precandidata. Su designación junto con las de los dos aspirantes restantes es criticada por un sector del movimiento, quienes creen que existían otras alternativas.
Sanmartín es licenciada en Comunicación Social. En su trayectoria política consta una candidatura a viceprefecta del Cañar y concejal de Azogues.
Mientras, Construye apunta a Paúl Buestán como principal precandidato. Buestán tiene experiencia en el sector público tras laborar en la Empresa Municipal de Agua Potable EMAPAL EP.
Dos objeciones
La Junta Provincial Electoral del Cañar recibió a trámite dos objeciones para los precandidatos inscritos a asambleístas. Las objeciones son en contra de Virgilio Saquicela, y los tres aspirantes del movimiento de Unidad Plurinacional Pachakutik
En el caso de Saquicela se presentó la objeción por los delegados nacionales del propio Partido Socialista Ecuatoriano (PSE) lista 17. Algo similar sucedió con los precandidatos Fabiola Sanmartín, Luis Maldonado y Karla Quezada que fueron objetados por un sector de Pachakutik.
Para María Eugenia Torres, presidenta de la Junta Provincial Electoral del Cañar, se trata de conflictos internos aunque reconoció que los aspirantes cuestionados cumplieron con todos los requisitos y los plazos estipulados para inscribir las precandidaturas.
Torres recordó que si la Junta Provincial Electoral da paso a estas precandidaturas, quienes no estén conformes pueden impugnar esta decisión en la matriz del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) e incluso podría llegar el asunto al Tribunal Contencioso Electoral (TCE).
