after several discussions that left me baffled, let me throw this out to the masses: do you look at ao3's icons when you're looking for a fic to read?

as a reminder to literally anyone and everyone who even so much as considers this: AO3 has NO autosave ability when you're making drafts, so PLEASE do not use it instead of a writing program.
If their server goes down, if you hit a wrong button and refresh the page or go back to the previous page, if you accidentally close the browser, if your browser or device crashes, etc etc etc you are shit out of luck. Your work is gone forever, it didn't backup to anywhere and there is NO recovery option. Even TUMBLR's drafting ability is supposed to autosave and often does.
If you want to avoid gdocs that's fine- there's other text editors with simple autosave options, like Online Notepad or Digital Scholar's notepad, or there's still local-drive writing programs that are free and open source, like LibreOffice. PLEASE do not use AO3 to write your stories into directly. It has NOTHING.

Unused extremely small seal-like character found in development files for Yoshi's Island. While characters fitting into a standard 16x16 pixel square are common for other SNES games, Yoshi's Island characters are usually larger, with even Shy Guys being 16x19 pixels.

The official Prima guide for Super Mario Galaxy 2 contains a section on how to obtain a Green Star in Clockwork Ruins Galaxy that doesn't actually exist in the game. This is likely due to the guide writers being given a near-final version of the game by Nintendo and this being a last-minute change before release.

Development files for Super Mario Kart contain what appear to be tests for various facial expressions of the Bullet Bill obstacle that appears exclusively in the Match Race mode (which, due to its unusual frontal-only view, resembles either a Chain Chomp or a Flame Chomp).

In Super Mario Strikers, the Super Team is a team composed almost entirely of identical robots called "Supers", and which is unlocked by beating them in the Bowser Cup.
Due to every team's goalie being a Kritter and the developers likely not wanting to spend time adjusting the Kritter's animations to a Super so that the team can be entirely made of Supers, a design compromise was made whereby the Super Team's goalie is a "Robo-Kritter" that has the same model as the regular Kritter, but robotic textures.
It is difficult to see the Robo-Kritter up close in-game. Above is a detailed look at the design.

An early preview of New Super Mario Bros. contained a curious block that is completely absent from the finished game. It appears as a rotating Yellow Block from Super Mario 64 until it is hit, whereupon it changes color to green, now appearing identical to a Metal Cap Block from that game, and dispenses a Super Mushroom.
Unfortunately, no other footage of this block is available so it is unknown what would have happened if it was hit again in its green state. It is possible that it was removed from the finished game since, while looking exactly like a preexisting block from Super Mario 64, it acts in a way that is so different that it might have confused returning players.

I went viral on instagram for being a Pro-shipper
Before I even knew what a pro-shipper was.
Around this time last year I had just gotten back to the states from being in Japan for 3-ish months. I posted a reel jokingly showing off some of the BL Manga that I had bought during my stay.
In the video I showed Volume one of Yarachin Slut club and volume one of Hitorijime, my hero.
If you donβt know these series. Yarachin is about a group of boys who run a high school sex club it also has various degrees of dubcon and gang rape. The other deposits an age gap relationship teacher/student.
The reel where I showed these manga went viral on the wrong side of the internet and In 2 months my instagram received over 80,000,000 views across all my reels and Iβm averaging at this current moment 10-20,000,000 views a month.
the comments I was receiving and have been receiving since are beyond words.

And if you think the comments are bad (not shown are the hundreds of comments telling me Iβm not trans or gay, that Iβm a cis woman pretending to be queer to garner support from the queer community, misgendering and deadnaming me, threading to dox me/send my address/personal info to people via DMs. Not to mention the newest group of people who found out I have a dead sibling and are using that as a way to attack me now as well. My DMs are also terrible.
These people are mad about two volumes of manga. Manga I bought in a brick and mortar store in Japan. Manga that have official anime adaptations.
They are calling a manga you can currently buy at Barnes and Nobel child p*rn and calling me a p*dip hole becuase i own it.
I donβt know what the point of this post is really, Iβve come back to tumblr and realize the entire internet does not in fact hate me, and people on here actually can logically think about things like this not in black and white.
Am I a pro shipper?
Iβve heard if the term, Iβve seen it around and always thought It was for extreme niche interests in fanfic, fictional media and general fictional content that I donβt particularly find myself reading or interacting with ever.
But then I looked into it after being called it 1000000 times a day on my social media and I relaxed itβs not about normalizing incestfics or spreading niche fan art around tags like antis would have you believe. At the end of the day itβs a group of people online with a very punk aligned mentality that censorship is wrong. Fiction is a place for self expression and understand that fiction is fiction. Itβs not about individual tags on a03 or black butler ships. Itβs about the freedom to express yourself thought fucking fiction. Weather it be to cope with trauma, or to just get some fucking weird feelings you are having out on paper through fanfciton, through projecting into a character from media you like.
Iβm not big with labels, so Iβm not a βproshipperβ but Iβm on their side, because itβs the right side.
You can argue all you want itβs not, that they are βhorrible peopleβ for the fictional media they consume. But the opposite side is literally telling me to βslit verticallyβ on a daily basis. You are no better than the people you hate.
Anywho, yeah. Going viral sucks.
