#despite the fact she's one of (if not) my favourite(s) i'm making her suffer. a lot.
Note
It's never too late for improvement! I love both Hunter and Beatrix, but personally I think Beatrix is my favourite.
She is such a deep character: the details you gave us about her backstory, her character and how she grew as one are just absolutely wonderful and so well done.
The fact that I love about her it's probably her saddest one: that she was given a mind and a body against her will and had to forcefully live like that. I'd really like to see more about her earlier days where she struggled more because of that. Not because I like to see her suffer ofc HAHAHAHAH But because I think that would be very interesting to see how she grew from that to the B2 we all know and love now :) (and because that gives me more than one reason to hug her and caress her head UEUEUEUE)
I'd also really love to see more about her and Val! God, those draws of them are stuck in my mind, I love duos like them GNFJFNFJDBF
About her and Hunter- GAAAH LLEEEHHFBFJDNFIEJ I love them and I'd really want them to be together, but maybe it's better in another universe where he hasn't done all that stuff :'') (I was too late to vote on the poll that said to forgive him or not, but I would've said no. Yeah I wouldn't hate him for the rest of my life because, as sad as it is it's the past so "it is what it is", but still I'd never forgive him for what he did)
But as I said, don't put yourself down like that. It's never too late to give us a new image of Beatrix and to give us more about her character and the rest of the story! I think that whatever you gave us until now is already so BBBBBBBEAUTIFUL, so I'm really curious about what you will give us in the future about that IDBFJSBFJSBHDE
But take your time and take care Starbs! 💖💖💖
Ahh i'm glad to hear about your point of view on Bee. Maybe I was overthinking a lot these past few days because I couldn't draw Fusionsprunt comics. Turns out I was basically forcing myself to make art for every bit of lore shared... I'll try my best not to do it again and simply post some bits of lore here and there.
There's honestly so much about being given a body and mind against your will, and it's not the first time these themes have been explored (IHNMAIMS for example, like you mentioned!). I was afraid B2's character was pushed aside because Hunter was getting more attention, despite the fact he is not the main character. It was upsetting at first, because I'm very attached to her. I'd like to give both of these two some time to shine. They have a lot of stories to tell (and many battles to fight).
Thank you for your ask! This made me feel a little bit more relieved.

Wanted to comment under the fanfic but for some reason my account refuses to post the comment so it's copied from ao3
I am so glad we are getting the POV of the background tributes and the image of sheaf curled up into a little ball and panlo looking after her is so cute 🥺

I was so excited seeing a facet prespictive he's one of my favourite characters and him babysitting Is so cute I have been headcanoning that he is great with kids and him and the tributes standing up for dill is amazing she is just a harmless innocent sick little girl leave my baby alone
And more Livia slander let's GOOOO
And treech giving lamina all the food oh poor boy 😭 😭
Once again I don't like babying snow but it's so entertaining seeing him embarrassed at showing Lucy gray he's home I am looking forward to her meeting tigris not so much to the grandma she better keep her venemous mouth shut for our rainbow songbird

Amazing chapter as always 👍😊
There's been a lot of hateful bot comments so AO3's turned off guest comments multiple times, I guess it could be that? Idk but I can't think of anything else because I let everyone comment on my fics (I crave validation lol). Sheaf and Panlo need more love so while I struggle to characterize them distinctly I've decided to give them more love. Same with Facet. Idk if they came across well but I tried lmao. And I cannot resist writing about Treech and Lamina so they got thrown in there, which works because I made Facet very nice and very observant. Hence why he knows everyone's names and why he talks about Livia the way that he does. She'll warm up to him eventually, but for now I'm slandering the fuck out of her and honestly most of the mentors except for Sejanus. Sejanus is the only mentor who truly understands the horrors of the games, and even the nicest Capitol mentors have some pretty bad moral compasses when it comes to the districts to start with. Sejanus is the only one who doesn't have an arc to becoming a better person. His arc is understanding when it's time to let go of a relationship because the other person will drag him down into the depths if he doesn't.
Though, to be fair... I'm making Coryo a better person in this because it's a full fix-it. Dill and Felix will do most of the early heavy lifting (because he's the president's son like in the movie) but Coryo and Gaius will be more involved in some later happenings. Gaius strikes me as a person that tries to be good, comforting people in pain and making them laugh. However, his messed up view of the districts is blinding him when it comes to the tributes and the games. It's hard to laugh about someone's pain when they've been a better person that the people you consider "superior". Especially once you learn the horrific extent of their suffering. As for Coryo... I'm mixing the movie's general softening of his worst traits with the fact that this happens relatively early in the story. None of his worst conclusions have been drawn and since he'll never brutally murder Bobbin he'll never really start believing Gaul's theory. One thing I noticed is that he seems to think himself superior to district people because he overcame his struggles and he doesn't understand how much worse the districts have it. Nor does he understand that they don't have the opportunity to overcome their struggles like he does. That's why he looks at Lucy Gray strangely when she mentions not knowing there's multiple kinds of tea. It's a small thing, but it's pretty significant because of how it utterly shatters all of his excuses for why the districts deserve what's being done to them.
It shows that his situation isn't comparable to theirs. Because despite the poverty, he knows that there are multiple kinds of tea. He's seen them around him, he even managed to get some. It would be one thing if Lucy Gray wasn't able to afford any, but she doesn't even know they exist! The mere idea is so luxurious to her that she'd never even heard of it in the first place. And the items on the table are very mundane to him. Nothing to be marvelled at. Yet Lucy Gray is practically entranced by it because she could never afford it. While Coryo can't read her mind, he's not stupid. This isn't rocket science. And it rocks his world because it shows his assumptions about his own position in the world vs the districts is completely out of whack. So yeah, that'll build to at least a pseudo-redemption for him. I won't make this SnowBaird because I flat out don't ship it, but I do have plans for conflict and romance for Coryo. Specifically with Sejanus, because those two definitely had some undertones.

YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT admittedly one of my points was "this group definitely has its similarities to the nnk1 gang" but ik thats bc i came from nnk1 and its less of an issue and more just a. Ah! Child Here. its mostly the beginning i had my qualms with though between the whole thing with nella being Really Predictable (i feel like nnk1 did it better idk. we were given more time over the entirety of the story to grow attached to alicia, but i guess thats kind of the point?) [1/2 sorry im rambling]
but i guess it was also at the start that a lot of the dynamics were really predictable? i played some more after i sent in that ask and it has seemed to be getting a bit more interesting but the entire sky pirates situation i was basically able to call from a mile away. it feels like its just an early gamr thing though (im about to go to hydropolis and it feels like things have been kicking up since mid-chapter 4) and its not that i dislike the story! like you said tho it might be just bc. nnk1
tl;dr on those two asks: its basically just the whole "parental figure(s) who we havent known for more that a few seconds and dont learn much more about die(s) and protag ends up doing a whole quest in their steed" and also the "enemy happens, protag does something to prove themself, enemy does a 180 and trusts the protag for the most part" things, but i dont necessarily dislike how theyre done (especially bc one of those was done by nnk1 so....) and i definitely am growing on this game more
NELLA'S DEATH FUCKING SUCKS AS A STORY BEAT sorry nella. i'm right though. she does nothing. she does nothing for the story. swear to god i would be more invested if evan got up after the coup and decided to build his kingdom on his own. she's mentioned like once after chapter 1.
anyway. you're 100% right nnk1 did it better because alicia was constantly mentioned throughout the game. we literally did learn more about her as the story progressed even despite her. y'know. being dead. and then when the soulsnare twist came along you went WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! THAT WAS HER? and it was GREAT. with nella she JUST DIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that rant aside personally i don't think it's a bad thing when stories are predictable. in fact i love it when stories are predictable because i see something coming and i go OH HO HO. these little guys are going to SUFFER. it's only really bad if the actual twist is bad but if the actual twist is bad then i usually go no... they wouldn't. that's bad writing. so i don't see it coming anyway. i have too much faith
like. for a nnk1 example look at gascon. SO many people guess the twist that gascon = swaine before it happens because the game gives hints to that direction. it's predictable. you see it coming. but that doesn't make it a bad twist in fact it's a lot of people's favourite part of the whole game and people are so proud that they figured it out. guessing a story's beats before it happens isn't a bad thing unless you set yourself in the mindset that it is imo

Sorry to be a bother, but do you think I could get the RFA + Saeran reacting to a MC who has to report a close relative for abusing them in the past? Bc I have to do that soon and idk I'm hoping it'll make me less nervous. If you can't do this, no worries. Sorry to bug you :/
RFA + V + Unknownwith an MC who is reporting an abusive relative
(AN: Threw in V toobecause why not! I’m so sorry you’re stuck in this situation, it’s amazing thatyou’ve stayed so strong and I hope all goes well for you, Kind Anon! You’re not bugging me at all, dear! I reallydo hope all goes well! And that I’ve done this enough justice!
There are mildspoilers in this! I didn’t go in to any details about the abuse, because we allexperience it differently, and so I mainly just focused on how they would tryto comfort you! Enjoy!)
Zen
When he finds out, you can almost see and hear the steamcoming out of his ears with his rage. He is so angry that anyone would doanything to hurt you
He honestly just offers to go beat the crap out of them foryou
He does his best to remain calm though for you throughoutthe entire ordeal. He will be by your side 24/7 if it makes you feel safer, orwhen he can’t be he has someone he trusts with you if you’re comfortable withit. He also doesn’t want you to feel trapped, so he does give you a choice, thankfully
Honestly, at one point Zen just calls Jumin and asks him if hecould maybe borrow a few security guards around the days you’re going to reportthem, just to be 100% sure you’re okay. Your abuser could literally live in acompletely different country, half way across the world, and Zen would still bevery protective
Afterwards, he cheers for you, and gets the rest of the RFAto do so too, because you’ve just done a really big and brave thing! And youdeserve to be congratulated. He treats you to do whatever you want to, andcongratulates and praises you constantly. He is in awe of you really
Yoosung
He goes so pale when you explain to him what you have to do.He doesn’t expect you to tell him why at all, instead just immediatelycomforting you in whatever way he can
You can see him shaking, and he looks a mixture of afraidand angry as you explain it all to him
He immediately starts cursing out your abuser, going to townon insulting them. If it makes you laugh, he ups his game even more
He also tries to stay by your side as much as possible. Heoffers to let you stay at his office at the vets during the day whilst he isthere, to give you somewhere safe and secure to be. He isn’t quite asoverprotective as Zen, because he really wants you to have your own choices andto be able to do what you want, but he is still very worried for you
Kisses you as soon as you’re done reporting them, and thenhe lifts you and spins you around, laughing and leaning his forehead againstyours. He’s beaming for the next few days because he’s just so proud
Jaehee
You’ve never seen her so pissed off than after you’ve toldher about your situation
She’s even better than Yoosung at coming up with insultsagainst your abuser, although she’s a lot more casual when she says them, notreally showing her anger. She speaks with a side smirk or a deadpan face whenshe insults your abuser
She trusts you to protect yourself, but if you ask for herhelp or anything she will be prepared to provide it in milliseconds. She alsooffers to contact Jumin about bodyguards if necessary
Jaehee isn’t an overly affectionate person, so after you’vereported your abuser she just gives you a quick hug and congratulates you
And then you get back to the café and the rest of the RFA isthere, a party all prepared for you to celebrate your braveness
Jumin
He pulls you in to a hug immediately, asking you if there isanything he can do to help
He asks about speeding up the process, making it moreimmediate, getting your abuser arrested, and more. He wants them to suffer forhow they treated you
However, he won’t do anything without your permission(except get Seven to dig up a load of dirt on them, just in case you need it infuture)
You are both surrounded by security guards constantlyanyway, and Jumin is always concerned about your safety, so their isn’t toomuch of a change there. He may ask you to do your best to stay safe until you’vereported your abuser, but he has learned from how he was like when you twofirst met that he will go too far in his over-protectiveness if he doesn’t giveyou your freedom
He’s incredibly supportive throughout the process, askingabout it here and there, doing his best to comfort you. He also stops his nonsensicaltalk about how family is there for you always and you can always rely on them, becauseyou have taught him that this is simply not true, and that your relationshipwith your family is like that with anyone else – it depends on actions andsuch, not on blood
Afterwards, he treats you to a really nice dinner of allyour favourite foods and desserts, and he cuddles up to you and praises you forall that you are and all that you have done. He brags about you to everyoneanyway when he can, but he won’t go in to specifics about the situation. However, this gives him fuel to brag about you even more than he already did
Seven/Saeyoung
He initially just cuddles up to you and wraps his armsaround you and tries to comfort you that way, but as soon as you go to get somesleep – he says he has to stay up to do some work – he begins researching yourabuser
And by morning he has an extensive portfolio of all the shittythings they have done, which he shows you when you get up – he hasn’t slept atall, he was too focused on getting this sorted
He entrusts you with the portfolio and tells you to dowhatever you want with it. He recommends keeping it and using it if it becomesnecessary
He is over-protective, and prefers if you stay in the bunkeror with him until everything is sorted out. He may even find a way to trackyour abuser’s location so that he knows they can never get anywhere near you, just to be sure
After you have reported them, he is such a proud boy!! Hekisses all over your face and squeezes you in a hug and he’s so happy and fullof energy and positive because! His S/O is so great! And so brave oh my god! Heactually pretends to swoon when he first sees you after everything is sorted
The entire situation is a bit difficult for him because ofhis past, but he will always be there to help you and support you in any way hecan. He just wishes he could have done the same thing about his abuser
V/Jihyun Kim
He looks so upset when you tell him about what happened
Like Jumin and Saeyoung he just immediately hugs you, pulling you close to him so you can lean your head on his chest as he runs ahand through your hair and rubs your back and arm with the other
He reminds you over and over that you didn’t deserve howthey treated you at all, that you deserved so much better, that you are anamazing person
He won’t be excessively protective, because like Jaehee hetrusts you to take care of yourself, as you have done so thus far. He doesrequest that you maybe just text him every now and then when one of you is awayat work or just out, but it’s not a requirement at all and he puts absolutelyno pressure on you
He’s even more cuddly than normal for the next while, upuntil you have reported your abuser
He greets you with his adorable grin afterwards, kissingyour forehead and pulling you close, and he tells you how gosh darn proud he isof his wonderful S/O for being so brave
That night he quietly thanks you for pushing through it all.He knows it must have been so tough, but he is so grateful that you are a partof his life and that, despite everything, you are still here
Unknown/Saeran
Like Seven, it’s a bit of an uncomfortable situation for himbecause of all the abuse he has suffered, also from a close relative. He knowsbetter than the rest of them how family members can still be abusive and how theycan be awful, and that sharing blood with someone does nothing to change thatfact that they can be abusive
He also isn’t very good at expressing his feelings oremotions in words, so he will hold you close to him and insult and threatenyour abuser, as long as it doesn’t make you uncomfortable. He will continuallystate how much of an evil person they must be to have treated you the way theydid
He is honestly in awe that, despite the abuse you suffered, you’re one of the nicest most amazing people he has ever met. You helped himdeal with all that he has gone through, and now he wants to do the same for youin any way he can
He will be mildly protective, but he does trust you. He knowsyou can take care of yourself. However, like Seven, he finds a way to trackyour abuser to make sure they can’t ever get anywhere near you. If they do, hewill be there in an instant to give them a piece of his mind
After you’ve reported them, he gets ice cream for the two ofyou (lactose-free if necessary), and he is more cuddly than usual – he normallyflickers between being very affectionate and not at all affectionate – and hecurls up next to you
As I said, he isn’t the best with words, but he mumbles thathe loves you and he’s proud of you as you’re both curled up together that nightbefore you fall asleep
(Hope this is all okay, and I truly wish you the best of luck Anon! What you are doing is very brave, and like the Mystic crew, I am very proud of you for it)

What I'm Watching September 2016 as of 9/27
Big Windup! 9/27
My girl friend and I have been watching this anime for the past month, since we only watch it together it took quite a wile to get through, but it was well worth it.
The anime follows a first year high school baseball pitcher, Mihashi, who joins his schools brand new team. Mihashi, because of his experiences with his middle school team, is significantly less than confident in not only his pitching but in his ability to make friends. He is very much a kid who suffers from severe anxiety, self worth, and some PTSD caused by bullying in middle school. Despite this he was convinced to join the baseball team at his new school and the rest of the series focuses on his relationship with his catcher, Abe, who recognizes that Mihashi has great talent and tries to get him to realize that, as well as his own self confidence and worth.
From the description above it makes the show seem rather dark and serious, but it is not whatsoever. Its a very light-hearted show, with its own unique brand of comedy. The English voice actors, while not so great at first, really grew on me and fit very well with their respective characters. In fact, now I can't see the characters being played by anyone else.
This anime definitely grew on me, especially after watching the teams first practice match in the first few episodes. It makes you feel for and understand Mihashi and Abe, and root for their relationship despite being so blatantly different. It very 'natural' too in the way that the characters interact with each other and especially how they respond to Mihashi's mental problems.
If your into sports anime, this one is wonderful. I've only seen the first season (25 episodes), and plan to continue watching. The only problem is that the second season is a half season (12 or 13 ep) and there is no word on whether or not the show will ever continue. By the look of the end of the first season, there is no way the show could be wrapped up in the second season. So if you do decide to watch it keep that in mind. When I finish the second season I will give you guys a little more info about it. But for now, I really love it. (and the facial expressions are great!!)
Silver Spoon 9/25
Silver Spoon is a semi-natural (but still mostly natural) anime about a boy who decided to go to a high school in the country focused on agriculture in order to get away from his parents home in the city. Upon arriving he finds that all his classmates attend the school because they grew up with the farm life. Being a city boy, he is thrown into the farm/agriculture classes learning about raising animals and growing crops.
I was a little skeptical going into this anime, but the moment I finished the first episode I realized that this would be an anime I would thoroughly enjoy and love. And I do!
Like many of my other favourite slice of life anime, I love this one because of the deep topics it explores and discuses. In here Haciken, the main character, struggles with not knowing who he is or what his dream for the future is, the stress and complications from his family, as well as dealing with issues regarding the animal industry. The first season primarily deals with Hachiken's struggle to decide where the line is drawn between a pet and livestock. Can he care for an animal, in this case a piglet, and then accept it when the animal goes to the slaughterhouse for food? That being just one example of the real-world struggles and debates that the anime discusses, and does so rather directly. hey do not beat around the bush with these topics which is great.
On top of discussing deep topics the anime is also rather hilarious often giving chances for comedy, as well as deep thought, interpersonal relationships between teachers, classmates, friends, families, and some mild romance.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants something more out of slice of life than just comedy or just school life. I would highly recommend you watch the first episode because you will know immediately whether you will like this anime or not.
Millennium Actress 9/19 re-watch
Millennium actress is a movie released in 2001 about a director who finally finds the actress he admired the most after decades of hiding. Chiyoko, now in her 70's, was famed in cinema from the 20s to maybe the 50s or 60s until she mysteriously vanished and became recluse at the height of her career. After finding a key that once belonged to chiyoko and finally finding her home, the director asks for an interview and the chance to return the key. The rest of the movie is about the actress recounting the tale of the key in question, explaining why it was so important to her and how it caused her to go into acting when she was young. Reality and the roles that she played in cinema merge and intertwine with her tale, as we watch her grow as an actress in the roles she played and the feelings/inner turmoil she experiences.
I had first watched this movie when I was much younger and first got into anime, so it must have been sometime between late elementary and middle school. Back then I thought the film was beautiful and amazing, but could not truly comprehend what it meant. I had re-watched it a few times to try to understand it, but I never did. At-least not until I re-watched nearly 8 years later. I understand it now, i completely understand it, its definitely a concept that is better understood by at least someone in their late teens who knows more about the struggles of constantly searching for someone. I won't say more here about it, but I will say that its a fascinating story.
What I love most about this film are the moments we see Chiyoko's films, most of what we see focuses on historical periods from a thousand years ago to the 50's. And there are a number of films she acts in that I would personally love to watch more of. Along with her recounting, the die hard fan director pops up and plays the other supporting roles he knows well from re-watching her films, giving a great bit of comedic relief. The only thing I didn't like was the filmography who accompanied the director, his presence was largely only comedic relief and i felt was mostly forced into the film.
Regardless, this is a great film, constantly filled with action, a little confusion, mystery, drama, and romance. It's a more serious film better suited for adults and young adults simply because of the overarching theme/concept the film focuses and relies on to tell the story. As I have before, I would definitely watch it again.
Shirobako 9/14
This is an incredibly meta and 'natural' anime. It begins with 5 high school girls creating an animated short film for their anime club. Each of the girls has a passion for the different parts that goes towards making an anime, production, writing, animating, art, and voice acting. They promise that in the future they will make their high school production a reality. Jump forward a few years, and most of the main characters are out of collage and fresh in their new jobs. The show takes over following one of the girls, Aoi Miyamori, who joins a production studio as a production assistant. We watch her go through the stress and struggle of dealing with the numerous people working on the project, deadlines, and life in the industry. We also watch how the other four girls are doing with their careers.
Overall its a very good story about being young post graduation individuals trying to discover their dreams, make their dreams a reality, and struggle with figuring out if what your doing is not only right for you, but feasible at all. As a senior in college and being only 2 years younger than the main character (I am currently 21 and the five characters are 22-23) I can really understand what they are going through having struggled with the question of what I want to do, study, and whether its the right choice for me.
It's an incredibly good young adult story. A large portion of the characters are well rounded and different (there is a huge cast because we meet nearly every employee), and no one falls even 90% into one particular archetype, but rather feels like a real person. In terms of how accurate to a Japanese production studio it is, I can't say for sure considering I've never worked in the industry. However I will go on a limb to say that a production company who writes a story about their own business would be pretty accurate. And from an outsiders point of view, it feels very accurate.
I wholeheartedly recommend this anime. Especially if you like slice of life that is 'natural', focuses more on real life scenarios, and for once does not take place in school, but focuses on adults and the adult life.
10/10 would watch again and recommend. In fact I've already convinced a friend to watch it and after the first episode was hooked~
I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying 9/13
This is a cute 3 minute, 26 episode series. It follows the daily home life of an otaku husband (verging on, if not already a NEET), and his wife who is not interested in anime or manga. It's interesting seeing how they make their relationship work together despite the lack of understanding between each other on the topic of the husbands large obsession of anime and manga (as well as his no will to work.) It's a cute series, and if you want a quick cute and funny watch this is a good one that you can blow through in an hour or two. Not the best short series out there, but still cute.
Free! Iwatobi Swim Club and Eternal Summer 9/11 re-watch
This really is an amazing series. I just finished and wow. Even when the giddy blindness that you get from a show after watching it for the first time has passed and your re-watching it with a clearer head sometimes shows turn out to be not as great as you first thought. This is not one of those shows. Yes there's a whole lot of fan service mainly with all the muscles, but it's still an incredible show, it still has an incredible story and character relation, and wow the second season is fabulous.
The show follows Haru and his friends as they start a swimming club and try to climb their way past their own limitations, strengthen and repair their bonds, fight their way to regional and national competitions, and in the second season struggle with their uncertainty towards the future.
Where the first season focuses more on the 'now' of making new friendships and rekindling old ones, the second season really is a coming of age/growing up story focusing on their future. As sappy as that might sound you don't even realize it until its all over. Hell, I didn't even realize it until someone mentioned it online and gave me that epiphany that I now see should have been pretty obvious.
Yeah, the character designs are not new, or innovative, or terribly complex at all, but they are characters that grow on you. As long as you can still love the characters, care about them, and watch them grow, then that's all you need. Couple that in with the uniqueness of the characters situations, the lighthearted comedy of the show, and the underlying messages that really do sneak up on you and you have one hell of a sports anime.
If you ever want to know where to start your sports anime obsession, start with Free! or even with its amazing parody 50% Off which got me obsessed with sports anime! Seriously this show is fantastic, 10/10 would watch again. Two seasons of 12 and 13 episodes, its a quick watch with a very good English dub~
(Speaking of sports anime, I started doing sports anime bingo recently and played it while re-watching this show. It took a while, but oh man did I hit bingo with Free!)
Natsume's Book of Friends Seasons 1-4 9/3 TOP PICK FOR THIS MONTH!!
This is an incredibly adorable show. Its heartwarming and has a 'feel good' movie feel to it. If anything taking into account the art style and how good it makes you feel it reminds me a lot of Fruits Basket. Don't get me wrong, its nothing like Fruits Basket in terms of story, but its got the same 'feel'.... if that makes sense.
Anyway, the premise is that Natsume is the only one able to see yokai (Japanese monsters/spirits/gods). After moving into a new town with some distant relatives, Natsume finds out that is deceased grandmother could also see yokai and made quite the reputation among them. She would take the names of local yokai and put it into a book called the book of friends, with their names she could control the yokai. Now yokai are coming after Natsume either to ask him to return their names or to take the book of friends for themselves.
The majority of the show is about Natsume steadily coming to understand both humans and yokai more clearly than he has before. Making friends, learning about the lives of others, learning about his grandmother, and finding out what it really means to be apart of a family and not be ostracized by others because of his ability.
This show is wonderful, its not as gripping or super emotion/action driven as some other shows are, but its very well done. The character are great, the stories are so heartwarming, and it breaks a number of the stereotypical cliches that are often found with anime about a character who can see something that others cannot. An example that I particularly love is how other characters who come into the mix who are also able to see yokai are not automatically 'evil' or an antagonist. So rather than causing mroe trouble for Natsume from the 'get go' they are actually there to help develop him into a better character. Which I love~ Any actual antagonist that shows up are antagonists for a real reason, rather than just for the purpose of having one.
If your into exorcism anime or anime that focuses on traditional Japanese monsters/spirits/gods you will love this one. It is slower paced and focuses more on story than action so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that there are only 4 season out right now as of this post. Season 5 will be coming out with this falls simulcasts and I'm super excited for it~
