Ships I ship in KF (I dont ship a lot of them) Plus this drawing of Marie and George
Marie X George- Classic, Amazing. These two were so obsessed with eachother. Literally no other excuse Marie would stay in love with him for 20 more years after his death. I know he would have been a great dad and they would have gotten married and been one of those old couples that bicker and then immediately make up
Martinez X Leslie - I know we don’t see lots of people shipping this but The way Leslie talked about her and seemed more wounded by her death was enough for me to instantly go “gay.” I think they’ve been dating secretly for awhile but never really said anything since the 70s were really bad with that
Forrest X Roddy - This is a crack ship. I think they would be so funny if they were a couple at some point and broke up for some reason.
Peggy X Barbara - I like to think that Peggy was jealous of Brad because she had feelings for Barb. Building on that I like the idea that they do start dating sometime after the good ending in KF. Imagining a scenario where forrest walks in on it and Peggy locks and closes the door and he just slides a little note under it saying “pls let me in im fruity too :(“ also Forrest is the only other person at KFAM that knows
Jason X Casey- Also work well as best friends but I like to imagine a slow burn with them. Something like Casey helping him through the trauma of almost being murdered and probably some semblance of anything he still feels guilty about georges death. I also like the song Ophelia for them
Thats all of them off the top of my head, I do think Carrie had a onesided crush on Jeanie but thats all

Israel holds municipal elections; war on Gaza affects turnout and mood
Israelis are divided over the war and their opinions of the government, resulting in a low turnout and higher tensions.
Tel Aviv, Israel – Israelis voted on Tuesday to elect mayors and local council members in 197 towns and cities and 45 regional council representatives.
Voting started at 7 am, and will carry on until 10 pm, in elections that have been delayed twice, from October 31 to January 31 then to Tuesday, due to Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza.
Seven million Israelis are eligible to vote, including tens of thousands who voted from active military duty in Gaza or the Israeli bases where they are stationed.
Turnout has been lower than in the last elections in 2018, according to estimates by the Ministry of Interior throughout the day.
Protests continue
The months leading up to the elections have been tumultuous ones for Israelis with mass protests throughout 2023 against changes to the judiciary that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government was trying to push through.
Different protest movements have continued throughout the war: Families of Israelis taken captive by Palestinian fighters on October 7 have protested to demand the government negotiate for their return, merging at times with antiwar protests and antigovernment protesters.

Among the most closely watched races is the one for Jerusalem’s mayor, in which incumbent Moshe Lion is widely expected to beat his challenger Ofer Berkovitch.
On HaBima Square in Tel Aviv, Al Jazeera spoke to several liberal activists protesting against Israel’s war on Gaza.
Israeli American protester Addam said liberals like him face a lot of hostility, which was the reason he chose not to disclose his last name, fearing vigilantes and Israeli authorities who have repressed antiwar protests recently.
Dozens of protesters marched with signs reading: “War is a crime and nationalism kills” and “Stop the ethnic cleansing.”
A large banner just had “30,000” written on it, referencing the number of people Israel has killed in the latest war in Gaza.
“This war is a choice we [as Israelis] are making,” Addam said.
“There has been a weaponisation of people’s grief after October 7,” he added, describing being confronted during a protest by a young Israeli woman who shouted: “Soldiers are dying for you all. Shame on all of you.”

Tamy Pollak, an activist and socialist who lives in the mixed Palestinian-Israeli city of Yafa (Jaffa), says the outcome of these elections will be important in determining whether calm is restored in mixed cities.
She worries about far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who she said has been weaponising Jewish civilians in mixed cities.
Fear of right-wing gains
In downtown Tel Aviv, Deputy Mayor Meital Lehavi held a megaphone, rallying voters to ensure that a far-right party does not take more seats on the local council.

“Right now, [Tel Aviv] has an open society, but [if the right wing does well], then things can be different here,” she told Al Jazeera.
Plia Kettner, a 39-year-old former member of the local council in Kfar Saba in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, believes the war is distracting – even discouraging – people from voting.
“Some of the national rhetoric has filtered into the local election campaigns”, polarising people, she said
“At the beginning, nobody was against the war,” she told Al Jazeera.
“But if you ask people on the street, 50 percent of people will say that they want to [get a deal with Hamas] to get the hostages back, and 50 percent will say that Israel must keep going to destroy Hamas.”
Results are expected a few days later.

Could you maybe write Forrest with stubborn teenager reader that’s a found family trope? I thought of it once and it never left my mind lol
Note: gender neutral reader, usage of they/them pronouns, short
Not gonna lie, this is the one I'm least proud of, and I feel like I haven't done this idea and this request a lot of justice, but bear with me.
Kids these days
"For the last time kid, you are not going to fight the Whistling Man, you hear me?" Forrest really wasn't having it with these kids today. First Jimmy (fly high) and his stupid pranks, and now this asshole of a kid. Can this night really get any worse? "Come on Forest, cool off a bit. They're just a child, they have ambitions to be the hero of this town, just like you!" Peggy would say to calm him down, laughing with glee. It was amusing how this grown up man didn't seem to notice just how similar he and this caller are. Forrest only grumbled something inaudible in response, a heavy sigh leaving his lips. "You know what, I'm not responsible if this kid dies, that's on them entirely." "Forrest! You can't just say that!" Of course, Forrest himself knew he didn't actually mean it. There's no way in hell he would let this kid die. In general, as much as he didn't like to admit it, he was fond of kids. Most of them anyway, there are always exceptions to the rules. Either way, after a brief moment of silence on their end, Forrest speaks up again: "Fine then, if you will keep insisting on fighting the Whistling Man, do you at least have the skill to do so? Or a good weapon?" But then, without giving you a chance to answer, he adds: "This is insane, you shouldn't be getting anywhere near that freak! Didn't you hear what he did to Murphy? What he wanted to do to Eugene?!" He just couldn't understand why a damn teen would want to fight a grown man with a mask and a knife. What was going through their head? "I know. This is exactly why I want to do this. I want to avenge all the people that he's hurt. Who does he think he is, to hurt people like it's his God given right to do so?" "Murphy had the same idea. Didn't work out well, did it?" Forrest really wasn't having any of this. It's like this kid doesn't hear what they themselves are saying. His response was followed by a moment of silence, before they spoke up again: "Okay, well, I know how that sounds, but I have a plan. You'll see!" With that, the call ended.
And he did see. He did see what that "plan" was when, apparently, the same kid got pushed into the room with him. And now they're both trapped here. Great. Wonderful. Just purely fantastic. "So let me get this straight. Your entire plan was to stalk the killer and find out what his motives are?" However, just when he was about to call them crazy, they interrupted him: "Save the talk for later old man, you have to hear me out first." What is up with these snarky teenagers and calling him an old man? "Something doesn't add up. Here, look for yourself." They give him a notebook, which had recorded times of each attack, how and where those attacks happened and how the killers move. They point out a specific point in the timeline. "See those here? That's barely a 10 minute difference. And the killer seems to be using different weapons in different scenarios." Forrest carefully read over all the details that the kid noted about the attacks on Eugene and Virginia. Different weapon types, too much distance, too little time. To be fair, he was actually a little impressed with their work, since it did provide helpful details. Forrest couldn't help but give the tiniest of smiles as he looked over at the kid, ruffling his hair. "I hate to say it, but you did a great job. I think Deputy Martinez will appreciate this for sure." Both of them were snapped out of their conversation as the "Peggy button" suddenly lit up, receiving a call from the Whistling Man.
As the two wait for the cops to handle dealing with Henry, an awkward silence falls between them. Until eventually, Forrest sigh and turns to the kid with a simple question: "You going to the festival tomorrow? We could get ice cream or something."

18. Hello/goodbye hugs that linger. Good hugs are just 🤗 Maaaybe combined with 25. Finding comfort in their scent?
I chose 18 - here we go!
___
Maura flashes her Chief Medical Examiner’s badge to the sheriff’s deputy sitting at the front desk in this small station just outside of Holyoke. It’s late. One or two in the morning late. And the only reason that the lanky young man even looks in her direction is because her jurisdiction covers the entire commonwealth, even all the way out here in Hampden County, and she’s wearing more designer than he’s probably ever seen in his life.
Her hair’s done up, her eyes boast the smokiest shadow they’ve had since the last wedding she attended, and her dress’s neckline doesn’t even pretend to be modest. That’s where his eyes land when he nods to her and opens the side door that will lead them to the back of the building, where the drunk tank resides.
She approaches, heels authoritative on the linoleum, and nods to him when she gets to the door. “Thank you, Deputy… Healy,” she tells him, and she means it. He tips his hat to her with one hand on his kit belt, then tosses his head in the direction they’ll be going.
“No problem, Doc,” he says, those Western Mass vowels coming through. They have to walk through mahogany desk bullpens and past interrogation rooms that look like they haven’t been updated since the seventies. “Long night?” he asks simply to avoid passing the time in silence.
He must be half a foot taller than Maura, at least, and she stares at his back as they walk. She folds her jacket over her clasped hands, the ones in front of her hips, and shrugs even though he can’t see her. “A wedding,” she answers. “For a colleague in the drug control unit. As you saw, things got a little… out of hand,” she makes sure to name-drop BPD to help their case in any way possible.
Healy laughs. “Yeah well, let’s just say I don’t think the guy they popped is gonna be pressing charges,” he says to her. “Just around this corner.”
Sure enough, when they turn, the one cell in the middle of the floor, with two wooden benches and bars all around, comes into plain view. In it is Jane, in a black suit and her best silk white shirt, all dotted with blood. Could be her own, could be someone else’s.
Could belong to the man next to her: Rafael Martinez, the groom of the evening. He certainly looks happy now, a huge grin on his face despite the fact that he’s currently spending his wedding night in jail. “Hey, Doc! You made it. Thank god,” he exclaims. He stands up and claps once, rubbing his palms together in victory.
Maura shakes her head when Healy fiddles with the keys until he finds the right one. “Maria is not happy. She’s outside, by the way. They only let her in the waiting area because I happen to be the Chief Medical Examiner of the entire Commonwealth. The Commonwealth,” she admonishes him.
As soon as the bars swing open, Rafael is out. He grabs Maura and kisses the side of her face roughly. He is annoying, but endearing. “Ah, she’ll understand. I don’t know why she decided to invite her sleazeball ex anyway. But that’ll teach him to try and sabotage the next wedding he goes to, eh?” Rafael looks back at Jane, who hasn’t gotten up and hangs her head. When she looks at him because he’s paused, he takes his bruised fist and swings it through the air in slow motion. “Pow. You still got it, Rizzoli. Now excuse me. I gotta go find my wife.”
“Deputy Healy?” Maura asks once Rafael has turned the corner, “would you give Detective Rizzoli and I a moment?” Again, maybe emphasizing the fact that everyone in the drunk tank is law enforcement lessens their consequences. She tries.
Healy seems to be convinced, however, that there won’t be any. “Sure thing, Doc. I’ll be out front so we can process paperwork when you’re ready.”
“Of course,” she says. She waits until he leaves, until his utility boots squeak further and further down the hall, to step into the cell.
“Never been so happy to see you,” Jane sighs, finally standing. She hurts, that Maura can see: bruised ribs, a barking shoulder, and a scraped knee, all in addition to the angry red circle on the side of her mouth, a small but deep cut in her lip.
“Except for when you nearly drowned in the Atlantic Ocean?” snarks Maura. “I leave for five minutes…” Her consternation is mixed with a little bit of happiness and pride.
“Excuse me, more like fifteen minutes at least,” Jane retorts. She comes as close as their bodies will allow without touching. “And Maria’s not my favorite person but she’s good for Rafa. I wasn’t gonna let some bozo mess it up.”
“So you punched him?” Maura raises a suspicious brow.
“Rafa punched him! After he threw a drink in my face,” Jane shouts, then quiets. “I didn’t start it. You know I never start things.”
“Yes well, you always finish them. Even when sometimes they should be left unfinished. When I came to see what all the commotion was about, the three of you were tussling in the bushes! I know the family that owns that property, Jane. Personally,” Maura says. She doesn’t pull away, though. And she smirks when she smells that spilled whisky all over Jane’s front, combined with dirt and Jane’s perfume.
Jane senses the game, she must, because then she smiles, too. “You haven’t hugged me yet,” she tells Maura, with a theatrically jutted lower lip, “aren’t you happy I’m ok?”
“I’d be happier if you weren’t possibly facing charges,” Maura says in resistance.
Jane plays up her position by placing a tired hand on Maura’s shoulder. Maura shivers when skin touches skin, even if it’s just a sliver or so. “He won’t, if he knows what’s good for him,” Jane growls.
“It’s his right,” Maura counters.
“Maura.”
“Yes, Jane?”
“Just hug me.”
So Maura does. Jane is taller and broader and in pain, but somehow Maura folds the detective into her embrace just right. They aren’t together, not yet - though this feels like they will be, very soon, because Jane’s head rests on her shoulder and Jane’s hands spread wide one above the other on her back. One of those hands creeps up to the nape of Maura’s neck, possessing her, lingering closer, longer than a hug hello between friends.
Jane breathes, then Maura does. Jane sinks, and Maura holds her up. “Let’s go home?”
Jane doesn’t say to Maura that they have separate homes, because she doesn’t have to. She just says, “Ok. First we got a date with Healy, though, yeah?”
“A date I’ll accept. With Healy, however? Not so much,” Maura scrunches her nose, but holds out her arm for Jane to take.
Jane does and they amble toward the bullpen and then the exit. “If not with Healy then with who?”
“Whom,” Maura corrects, and she leaves it at that. She makes sure to wink when Jane looks her way, however.

Editor’s note: This story contains audio of people calling 911 during a mass shooting incident.
The first two 911 calls came in at 11:29 a.m.
A man had crashed his truck into a ditch by Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, and he was rushing toward the school with a gun.
“He’s inside the school shooting at the kids!” a third caller yelled at 11:33 a.m.
The gunman fired more than 100 rounds by the time police dispatchers received another call two minutes later. An adult voice could be heard making “shh” sounds for nearly 44 seconds before the phone abruptly cut out.
Monica Martinez, a STEM teacher who was hiding in a closet at the school, was among several callers from inside the school who followed.
“There’s somebody banging at my school,” Martinez said, her voice muffled as she continued speaking. “I’m so scared,” she said at 11:36 a.m.
What happened on May 24 in Uvalde is well documented. Hundreds of law enforcement officers from nearly two dozen local, state and federal agencies rushed to the scene. It took more than an hour before they entered the rooms where the gunman was located. They treated the crisis as one of a barricaded suspect who was no longer an active threat. Ultimately, 19 children and two teachers were killed in the worst school shooting in Texas history.
In the ensuing five months, the delayed law enforcement response has spurred state and federal investigations. The school district’s police chief was fired. He has publicly contested his termination, saying he was unfairly blamed. The acting Uvalde police chief has also been suspended and a state trooper fired. The chief of the Texas Rangers, the Department of Public Safety unit that is leading the state investigation, retired abruptly in September, as did his deputy in August. Several state police troopers remain under investigation. Officers facing punishment either could not immediately be reached for comment or declined to respond.
The Texas Tribune and ProPublica have for the first time obtained recordings of more than 20 emergency calls and dozens of hours of conversations between police and dispatchers that lay bare the increasing sense of urgency and desperation conveyed by children and teachers. In chilling, muffled 911 calls, they begged for help from inside the school.
Although the existence of some 911 calls and body camera footage has been reported publicly, the totality of the recordings show the pervasiveness of the miscommunication that unfolded that day.
During some calls, dispatchers and officers warned that class was supposed to be in session in rooms where the gunman had been shooting. On others, law enforcement officers said they were unaware that anyone aside from the gunman was in the classrooms, even as dispatchers received calls from children seeking help.
Ten-year-old Khloie Torres was one of those children. While state officials previously released a transcript with excerpts from one of Khloie’s phone calls, the news organizations obtained additional recordings of her pleading for help that had not been made public. Khloie survived that day.
In an interview, her father, Ruben Torres Jr., said he is “disgusted” that police did not quickly intervene. The fact that his daughter had to wait so long to get help is “mind-boggling,” Torres said.
“There was no control. That dude had control the entire 77 minutes,” said Torres, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “They didn’t have him barricaded. He had the police barricaded outside. It’s plain and simple. The police didn’t go in. That’s your job: to go in.”
DPS officials did not respond to questions from ProPublica and the Tribune about the recordings. A spokesperson for the city of Uvalde, the police chief, the Uvalde mayor and the county’s chief executive declined to comment.
Communication was a key failure throughout the response. Many officers assumed the school police chief, Pete Arredondo, was in command. He did not have his radios with him, issued few orders and later said he never viewed himself as the officer in charge. County officials said emergency communications were overwhelmed in the rural community, which typically has only two dispatchers answering 911 calls and juggling the transmission of key information to emergency responders.
The emergency radio system has two 911 lines and three emergency channels. Its frequency is designed for the vast, 15,000-square-mile stretch of scrubby desert terrain, rather than for high-density urban areas where equipment must work inside buildings, said Forrest Anderson, the county’s emergency management coordinator who oversaw the radio system’s implementation two decades ago. A legislative committee that later examined the response noted that city police radios worked only intermittently inside the school.
Radio traffic and footage obtained by the news organizations show that some police knew about the 911 calls, but just how many officers remains unclear.
High-stakes emergency responses always have some communications gaps, but skilled incident commanders should be prepared to overcome such challenges, said Bob Harrison, a former California police chief and homeland security researcher at the Rand Corp., a national think tank.
Harrison noted that many of the radios used by Border Patrol agents also did not work during the Uvalde shooting response, but the agency’s SWAT team, which does not typically lead the response in school shootings because it is a federal agency focused on immigration and national security, mobilized to breach the classroom once it arrived and determined no one was in control.
“If a strong unifying command scene was set up quickly, these discrepancies wouldn’t have been necessarily relevant, and there would have been one voice and one command,” Harrison said of the problems with 911 and radio communication.
The state legislative committee reached a similar conclusion in its July investigative report, which stated that a capable incident commander would have realized that the radios were “mostly ineffective” and that responders needed other means of communication to transmit key details such as calls from victims inside the classrooms. The report highlighted that law enforcement is trained to be “prepared to respond effectively without reliable radio communications” and could employ a series of strategies including using “runners” to deliver messages in person.
But that day, children and teachers, including Martinez, waited to be rescued.
In the dark closet of room 116, Martinez stayed on the phone with a dispatcher and tried to practice a key tenet of the school’s active-shooter protocol: Be quiet.
CLASS SHOULD BE IN SESSION
When a new round of gunshots rang out from behind the closed door of the two adjoining classrooms, Uvalde police Sgt. Daniel Coronado sprinted outside, panting heavily as he relayed an urgent message on his radio to city police dispatchers.
“He’s inside the building,” Coronado said of the shooter at 11:38 a.m. “We have him contained.”
He asked for ballistic shields and requested that someone call DPS.
Then he repeated: “He’s contained. We’ve got multiple officers inside the building at this time. We believe he’s barricaded in one of the offices. Male subject is still shooting.”
Four minutes later, a male voice, unclear from which agency, asked that someone check the classroom of fourth-grade teacher Eva Mireles, a 44-year-old educator and the wife of Ruben Ruiz, a Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District police officer. Mireles was assigned to classroom 112, one of two adjoining rooms where the shots were coming from.
“See if the class is in there right now or if they’re somewhere else,” the official said.
Then a Uvalde school district police officer came on the radio with a critical announcement: “The classroom should be in session right now. The class should be in session, Ms. Mireles.”
Another officer gasped.
“That’s going to be Ruben’s girl,” he said, referring to Mireles.
“Oh no, oh no,” Coronado muttered under his breath.
The exchange demonstrates some officers knew early on that the gunman was not barricaded alone in the classroom. More indicators, and clear confirmations, would come soon after — yet for much of the response, they would not be heard.
At 11:48 a.m., Ruiz, who was standing in the hallway outside of the classroom, told officers that his wife had been shot. Ruiz said his wife had called him and said she was “dying.” Mireles later died in an ambulance.
Officers escorted Ruiz outside, taking away his weapon for his safety, according to interviews officers at the scene later gave to the Texas Rangers. But they did not attempt to enter the classroom. One of the police lieutenants who heard Ruiz’s announcement told investigators that they were waiting for DPS and Border Patrol to arrive “with better equipment like rifle-rated shields.”
By that time, Martinez, the teacher, had been on the phone with 911 for more than 10 minutes. She had told the dispatcher that she could hear people in the hallway. The dispatcher urged her to stay quiet and remain barricaded in the closet.
“You still there with me?” the dispatcher asked at about 11:47 a.m.
“I’m still here,” Martinez whispered.
Misinformation spread as Martinez and other 911 callers waited to be rescued. At 11:50 a.m., a Uvalde school district police officer wrongly reported that the school chief was “in the room with the shooter,” referring to Arredondo by his call sign.
Seven minutes later, an officer asked if any children were inside with the gunman.
“No, we don’t know anything about that,” another officer replied on the radio.
“Everything is closed, like the kids are not in there,” a third responded.
About a minute later, an officer asked for the shooter’s location.
“The school chief of police is in there with him,” another officer replied.
As the back-and-forth continued, law enforcement officers rescued people from other classrooms. At 11:58 a.m., Martinez told the dispatcher that she again heard someone knocking. She said the person had identified themselves as a police officer.
“Open the door,” the dispatcher said, confirming that the person on the other side was law enforcement. “Stay on the line with me until you make contact with him.”
“I’m coming,” the teacher whispered.
Her sobs carried through the phone.
The teacher did not return calls and emails seeking comment.
CONFUSION MARKS RESPONSE
Some children in classrooms 111 and 112 with the gunman kept calling 911, seeking help even when they suspected it was not safe to speak. One of the first calls from a trapped student, at 12:03 p.m., was barely audible.
“There’s a school …” a muffled child’s voice reported, breaking up in the recording, “at Robb Elementary.”
The call lasted a minute and 24 seconds. The child was silent as the dispatcher asked their name and what room they were in.
“Hello, ma’am? Can you hear me?” the dispatcher asked.
Then at 12:10 p.m., Khloie called.
“There is a lot of bodies,” The New York Times previously reported that she told a dispatcher, adding that her teacher had been shot but was still alive.
Khloie stayed on the phone for more than 17 minutes. While she spoke, another city police dispatcher answered a call from DPS and erroneously reported that the school police chief was inside the classroom with the gunman.
“I have the school chief of the PD in room 111 or 112 with the active shooter, and they’re still standing by,” she said when the DPS dispatcher asked for an update. “We have multiple agencies on scene. I don’t know if you have anybody else to send out to help out?”
“We’re sending everybody that we can, um, heading out there, but do you have any injuries, fatals, anything?” the DPS dispatcher responded.
Only one female was shot, and perhaps an officer was injured, the Uvalde dispatcher replied.
A dispatcher’s voice crackled through the Uvalde police and Border Patrol radio traffic, notifying that she had a child on the line.
“The child is advising he is in the room full of victims, full of victims at this moment,” the dispatcher said.
Hallway surveillance video from inside the school at the time shows at least four law enforcement officials, one with a shield, kneeling outside the classroom door with their guns drawn.
It is not clear if the officers heard that message.
At 12:14 p.m., a state trooper’s body camera captured someone saying, “There’s victims in there, dude.” The trooper was standing outside a door to the school, with at least eight officers from different agencies visible from that camera angle.
“We need to get in there,” one responded.
No one did.
Five minutes later, another girl in room 111 called 911. The recording of the call, which lasted a minute and 17 seconds, is mostly inaudible.
In the hallway, Uvalde County Constable Emmanuel Zamora wrongly suggested that the gunman may have already shot himself.
“One shot at the end was self-inflicted, maybe,” Zamora said in the recording, referring to an earlier burst of gunfire.
Zamora did not respond to texts and emails about his comments, which had not been previously reported.
Arredondo, the school chief, can be heard on a state trooper’s body camera at 12:20 p.m. telling another officer: “We have victims in there. I don’t want to have any more. You know what I’m saying?”
It was the first time he acknowledged to other responders that anyone was wounded inside the two classrooms, according to new footage obtained by the news organizations. The legislative report noted only that he acknowledged “some casualties” 14 minutes later. Arredondo did not return a message seeking comment shared with him by his former attorney.
A minute later, the gunman fired again.
Officers in the hallway flinched, formed a line and started walking down the hall, then suddenly stopped, a state trooper’s body camera footage reveals.
Just after the shots were fired at 12:21 p.m., the school chief began trying to talk to the shooter for the first time, according to communications and records.
“If you can hear me, sir, please put your firearm down, sir,” Arredondo said. “We don’t want anyone else hurt.”
Just after 12:30 p.m., three troopers again advanced toward the classrooms before an unidentified person said “no, no, no,” according to body camera footage.
Once again, they stopped.
A DPS trooper who made his way into the hallway around that time asked another officer if there were children in the classroom. The response was, “We don’t know.”
By then, more than 20 minutes had lapsed since Khloie first begged a dispatcher for help. She ended the initial call when she feared the gunman, who she felt taunted the children, was getting close, her father later recalled.
She called 911 again at 12:36 p.m.
“There’s a school shooting,” Khloie said. “Yes, I’m aware,” the dispatcher responded. “I was talking to you earlier. You’re still there in your room? You’re still in room 112?” “Yeah,” Khloie replied. “OK. You stay on the line with me. Do not disconnect,” the dispatcher said.
“Can you tell the police to come to my room?” Khloie whispered. The dispatcher said: “I’ve already told them to go to the room. We’re trying to get someone to you.”
About two minutes later, Khloie once more asked for police.
Yet again, a dispatcher tried to reassure her.
“I have someone that is trying to get to you, OK,” she said.
Khloie whispered that she thought she heard the police next door.
“If you hear anyone come in, but they’re not supposed to be there, and they don’t say that they’re police, y’all pretend that you are asleep, OK?” the dispatcher replied.
“THAT WAS YOU?”
As the Border Patrol strike team was almost ready to breach, DPS Capt. Joel Betancourt went on the radio and ordered the agents to wait.
“The team that’s gonna breach needs to stand by,” Betancourt said at 12:50 p.m.
The captain did not respond to requests for comment left for him through DPS.
The team ignored the order and entered the classroom, quickly killing the shooter. The previously silent hallway filled with officers waiting to act.
Someone yelled, “Make a hole!” as police carried out wounded children. Law enforcement officers motioned for those who were not as severely injured to walk out on their own.
“Oh man, I guess there was more kids in that room,” a DPS special agent said, according to his body camera footage. “Yeah, he must have had some hostages,” another law enforcement officer replied.
As the onsite paramedics focused on the most critically injured, officers began taking other hurt children to the hospital. Khloie was among them.
“I was on the phone with a police officer,” she told the trooper examining her as the screams of other wounded children reverberated in the background.
The officer, whose body camera had earlier picked up a dispatcher describing that call, seemed surprised.
“Oh, that was you?” the trooper asked.

Fixing United: FM24 vs Real Life
Once upon a time, playing as Manchester United on Football Manager would be seen as an easy save. The same went for Real, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea... it was just a load of cash, a load of rep, and a stroll in the park with any vaguely sensible tactics.

These days though the likes of United, Chelsea, Ajax, Valencia are in disappointing form. Big name sides lower down the table than before. The upside though is that suddenly it's more of a legitimate challenge to take over one of these clubs on Football Manager and restore former glories.
Fixing United:
I'm currently in my second season at United, having won the League Cup twice and the Premier League and the FA Cup in my previous season. We also did alright in the Champions League, though lost to Barcelona and they ultimately lost to City in the final - can't stop the Blue Moon entirely eh.
The big changes to my side were RCB, RW, and RB. Todibo in from Nice replaced the outgoing Varane (Saudi league), whilst Diogo Dalot jumped before being pushed (to Arsenal) allowing me to bag United fan Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen - and for less money than I sold Dalot for. Bargain!
Tumblr media
United's right side is very feeble. The game treats Antony as a good winger and supplier, but reality is yet to prove that point. I kept the Brazilian for the season, and also played Sancho (who remains) but I've brought in much more talent.
Mohamed Daramy from Reims is in - the Dane linking up nicely with Højlund. Johan Bakayoko (PSV) and Roony Bardghji (FCK) are both in but back out on loan at their former clubs for one final season of development, giving me time to sell Amad, Pellistri, and maybe Sancho - should a PSG/Barca bid materialise.
Tumblr media
As you can see, I'm working on Højlund and Evan Ferguson (both ardent United fans) to be all-out complete forwards. Man of the Moment types. They have the skill set to be all United need, and so far so good.
Rashford plays left and only left. If he has a form drop, like real life, then Garnacho/Sancho/Daramy get his spot. Simple as that.
Bruno is currently the top scorer at the club with 28 goals and 13 assists. This is Ballon d'Or form.
Sancho quietly gets on with his football. Sports Interactive clearly don't know ball.
Mount as a roaming playmaker or a box-to-box midfielder is where I find him strongest. He did take time to establish himself though, so fans should give him this time in real life. There's a good, clever player there, and United need brains on the field.
Tumblr media
Tchouameni was a fluke signing, having already bagged Joao Gomes from Wolves to replace the despondent Casemiro and to allow a more tekkie Kobbie Mainoo to work his way in as a Herrera type of DM/ball winner. Still, we take it, he's class, and everyone gets rotated.
The back 5 is obvious, with Frimpong in for AWB more often than not but also more prone to injuries due to his athletic approach and the skillset drawing fouls.
Beyond this the academy is doing well. Dan Gore (on loan at West Brom) has had a season like Jimmy Garner did at Forest IRL, so he's possibly ready to squeeze into the first team squad - especially if I do sell a few people. Mount can then rotate more in CAM with Bruno, and that opens my LCM creative position for someone like a Gore.
The interesting thing for me has been realising that United does have issues, for sure. RW and RCB are the crucial two spots that if you fix, the team really clicks into place, but also it's the depth of talent and the specifics of deputies. In real life we have Lindelöf and Maguire; able EPL defenders but not the same playstyle as Martinez or Varane. Ten Hag can't achieve with these deputies. Variety between a Dalot/Frimpong offense and Wan Bissaka defence... sure, that makes sense, but the footballing culture shift of high line passing defenders versus bruisers who sit deep and battle constantly... it's not it.
For United to turn a new leaf and escape the Banter Era there has to be consistency in both recruitment and development. United's squad and academy need to be working to the same hymn sheet of what Ten Hag's first XI need and how to fit it. The right wing suits me as classic winger, but ETH will be happy having a winger, an inside forward, an inverted winger ala Antony - whoever. Options are a good thing when they can still adhere to the core principles or tenets of a manager's style. For me, I like having a Rashford/Garnacho swing in off the left to double up with the CF, and the LB/RW being wide support.
Maybe Erik wants this too, maybe not, but FM24 has me as Master and Commander in the Fergie role. Ten Hag isn't about that, nor should he be. Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to come in and establish this setup with reputable, reliable professionals who can be held accountable. With these people in place, then United can begin a 5-year project of overhauling the squad bit by bit. This is where you'll see young, suitable talent brought in at fair prices on fair wages to serve as backup to the starting 11.

The man who attempted to bomb a Jehovah’s Witnesses worship hall in Thornton before killing himself and his wife on Christmas Day also bombed a union office that morning, Thornton police said Wednesday.
Enoch Apodaca, 46, carried out the attacks even though authorities were warned more than a year ago about the man’s violent threats and bomb-making history, The Denver Post found.
Apodaca caused a “large explosion” at the IBEW Local Union 68 building in the 5600 block of Logan Street in North Washington around 8:45 a.m. Sunday before moving on to attack the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall at 951 Milky Way in Thornton minutes later, police said.
Investigators say Apodaca walked into the IBEW Local Union 68 with “what appeared to be a bucket” around 8:45 a.m. He then left the building, got back into his vehicle and “a large explosion was observed” in the building, police said.
No one was injured in the bombing, though firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded to the explosion.
Apodaca continued on to the worship hall. Around 9 a.m., he directed his wife, Melissa Martinez, 44, to back a pickup truck up to a window at Kingdom Hall. Apodaca broke the window with a hammer and put three pipe bomb-style explosive devices inside. Martinez got out of the truck, and Apodaca shot his wife in the back of the head with a shotgun, then shot himself with the same gun, police said.
Both died. The bombs inside the meeting hall did not explode and only two people were inside at the time. One used a fire extinguisher to put out a fire that had started near the devices, police said. Investigators later found that one device “nearly detonated” before it was either extinguished or malfunctioned. That device was “attached to a bucket” that was similar to the one used in the union office bombing, police said.
When officers searched the couple’s home in the High View Mobile Home community in Westminster, they found the couple’s belongings had been set out and “clearly marked to be distributed to specific family members,” Thornton police said. Investigators also found bomb-making materials, but no additional explosive devices.
A Local 68 union representative declined comment when contacted Tuesday and Wednesday.
The married couple was former members of the Jehovah Witnesses’ congregation, Thornton police previously said.
The attacks were motivated by “personal issues” between the couple and the targeted businesses, police said. Apodaca had reached out to a member of the Kingdom Hall congregation about rejoining the community on Christmas Eve. That member directed Apodaca to the community’s elders, police said.
Prior threats, warnings to police
Westminster police were warned more than a year ago that Apodaca had threatened the Kingdom Hall congregation and was known to make bombs, according to police records obtained Wednesday by The Denver Post.
Apodoca also previously threatened to shoot his wife and a union representative after he was fired from his job as an electrician in 2021, his former employer alleged in separate court filings.
Westminster police records show a concerned caller warned police on Sept. 13, 2021, that Apodaca was threatening violence, using drugs and withdrawing from his family after he and his wife were fired from their jobs.
“He said people were going to pay and there is going to be carnage,” the police call taker noted.
The caller told police that Apodaca had been “kicked out” of the Kingdom Hall congregation three years before, that he was “very intelligent and manipulative” and that he’d threatened to make bombs.
“[Caller] is concerned that something is going to occur that could be prevented,” the call taker noted.
It was not immediately clear Wednesday whether Westminster police actually sent an officer to check on Apodaca that night. Police records show an officer was dispatched for a welfare check at 7:02 p.m. on Sept. 13, 2021, and that the officer “cleared” or ended the call at 7:26 p.m. — but it does not show that the officer actually arrived at Apodaca’s house.
Westminster police did not return requests for comment Wednesday. Records show Westminster police received seven calls for service to Apodaca’s address since September 2021, including two welfare checks and one report of harassment.
For the three calls for service reports provided to The Denver Post, Westminster police had no records that the cases progressed past the initial call.
In addition to those incidents, Apodaca also made threats after he was fired from his job as an electrician in 2021, according to an application for a civil protection order filed in December 2021 by a representative of Apodaca’s former employer, Sturgeon Electric Company Inc., where Apodaca worked on and off as a union contractor for years.
Apodaca told a union representative at “Local 68” that he would shoot the representative, Apodaca’s wife, and then “will come after the people responsible” for firing him, the protection order application alleges.
A company representative at the time wrote that Apodaca had been fired in June 2021. The temporary protection order application does not say why Apodaca was fired and a company representative declined to comment Wednesday.
It was not clear from court records whether the request for a protection order was granted. There’s also no evidence in court records that anyone pursued an extreme risk protection order against Apodaca under the state’s “red flag” law, which allows authorities to confiscate a person’s guns under some circumstances.
Family members of Apodaca and Martinez either could not be reached or declined to comment Wednesday. The dead couple was identified Wednesday by the Office of the Coroner of Adams and Broomfield counties.
Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show Apodaca was arrested in 2003 on a felony theft charge. He was accused of taking a laptop and other property from his then-wife while the two were in the process of divorcing, according to a criminal complaint. The case was ultimately dismissed by the district attorney’s office.

Javier Peña Timeline In Real Life
So many people have written fiction for Javier Peña that I thought this might be useful. Wikipedia has incorrect information as does the Narcos Wiki. That isn't said as arrogance, I just believe that Peña is a better authority on where he was born, raised and went to school.

Loved the ladies but never married.
Location information (from Google Maps & Wikipedia):
Hebbronville is a small town of about 4,300 (now)  and county seat in Jim Hogg County, TX
Laredo is a city of about 250,000 (now) about an hour (56 mi) west and slightly north of Hebbronville
Huntsville is north of Houston, about 350 mi from Hebbronville
Kingsville is a similar distance east and slightly north of Hebbronville
Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, is in a large valley in the mountains.   Medellin is about 250 miles (415 km) northwest of it.   Manhunters says it’s a one-hour flight.  Google Maps says about 9 hours by car.
1  "Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997," database and mages, Ancestry (http://www.ancestry.com : 2005); Texas Department of State Health Services.  Note that Hebbronville did not (and does not) have a hospital; hospital births were the norm in the fifties.  Laredo has both a hospital and Alicia’s parents.
2. “Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997," database and mages, Ancestry (http://www.ancestry.com : 2005); Texas Department of State Health Services
3.  "Texas Birth Index, 1903-1997," database and mages, Ancestry (http://www.ancestry.com : 2005); Texas Department of State Health Services
4. Repeated references by Peña in Manhunters.
5.  Peña wasn’t clear about his university days, so it's uncertain why he took graduated five years instead of four following high school complete his BA.  Given his mom’s illness, he may have taken the time to be with her. Or he may have taken a gap year to work. He may also have transferred from Texas A&M Kingsville to the affiliated campus in Laredo. Graduating cum laude argues against a failed year.

Adam Lee Martinez sentenced in sexual-assault case
Martinez

By Christy Steadman
PUBLISHED: August 20, 2013 at 6:51 p.m. | UPDATED: April 15, 2019 at 5:16 a.m.
Adam Lee Martinez, 28, of Cañon City received the mandatory minimum sentence Tuesday after being convicted in May of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on child as a pattern of abuse and sexual assault on a child.
The charges stem from the abuse of a 14-year-old girl who is related to Martinez. The victim claims the abuse began when she was 8 years old and continued until January 2012 when Martinez was arrested for domestic violence.
For the three counts of sexual assault, Martinez was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison and 20 years to life on parole as a sex offender, for counts one and two. For count three, he was sentenced to two years to life in prison and 10 years to life on parole.
District Judge Patrick Murphy decided a prison sentence is justified because of three damaging effects that Martinez’s actions had on the victim. He considered the age of the victim, that the assaults happened more than once and Martinez was a person of trust to the victim.
Judge Murphy also based his decision on Martinez’s limited criminal history and on a psychosexual analysis, which deemed that Martinez is not considered a sexually violent predator.
During opening arguments, Deputy District Attorney Stacey Turner said she “would be appalled if Martinez is given the minimum sentence” because of the pattern of abuse, the nature of abuse as physical, sexual, verbal and emotional and the length of time the victim was subject to it. She argued that Martinez displayed “snake-like behavior” by “worming” his way into the victim’s life and keeping her isolated for his own needs.
Public defender Riley Selleck requested the court consider the minimum sentence based on two forms of evidence. One, Martinez displayed a low to moderate risk to reoffend, and two, his sentence needs to be based on what the jury actually found him guilty of, which included physical sexual assault but not full sexual intercourse.
Selleck also said Martinez will have to complete a treatment plan, should he be released from the Department of Corrections.
A protection order for the victim against Martinez will remain in effect.

Match Review: Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City
We’re the famous Man United and we’re going to Wembley. WEMBLEYYYY WEMBLEYYY…
Tumblr media
Expected the worst but these little fuckers delivered the best. VIVE LA CARRINGTON. You CAN win anything with kids.
Erik Ten Hag reminded us that actually, he IS a good tactician. Not to say he hasn't made mistakes this season but he had his (unfit) first choice centre-back pairing and a CDM and fuck me, suddenly we looked like a coherent footballing unit staffed by professional players. What?!
United might have gotten lucky with the first goal, but Garnacho finished coolly. They definitely didn't get lucky with the second, and holy fuck what a combo; Rashford with the killer cross-field ball, Garnacho to Bruno with the AWB dummy burst-through/overlap, Bruno with the no-look side pass, and Mainoo with the real burst-through into the box and boop, goal. Class. A proper United goal. A genuinely elite bit of football. A glimpse at what could be to come.
Tumblr media
United sat back a bit second half and City put pressure on, but honestly? Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland were anonymous. City didn't play badly, but they really didn't play well. Some people have argued that point - and? The whole point is to show up and perform. You can't blag that oh, it was an off day. THIS IS THE ONE DAY NOT TO BE 'OFF' you mugs.
Also, a barely fit Martinez/Varane. Dalot at LB. Dire form Rashford fresh from injury. Bruno fresh from injury, McTominay fresh from injury, Mainoo's barely 19, Garnacho's been WELL overplayed this season due to the injury crisis. Onana even had one of his moments and let in a silly Doku shot. What more do the Citeh lot want?
Tumblr media
I'm buzzing for Bruno Fernandes after his letter to the fans in The Player's Tribune. A turbulent career that has peaked in a dream move to United and a stellar deliverance since his arrival. A big trophy like this is everything - but lets hope we can get him a league before he goes eh. Even if it's late ala Robbo.
We also made Fergie happy, and that was something I was desperate for. I was petrified we might kill the boss off by playing SO bad and ruining his legacy. Crisis averted.
There will be talk about replacements, and about whether Erik is the project or not, but I hope we stick with him. Support his authority, remind him that he needs to be less tactically stubborn when injuries happen, and back him with squad depth of the STYLE of player he wants so he can afford to be stubborn with Plan A because he has a deputy for Martinez, for Shaw, for Casemiro.
Anyway, enjoy this win reds. Two FA Cups in one season, a first trophy for the women, and a much-needed showing up from the men to guarantee us some form of European football next year.

MAGA Terrorist Opens Fire on Native Americans Protesting Conquistador Statue
Tumblr media
The Associated Press reports that during a protest organized by Native American advocacy group “The Red Nation” to stop the relocation of a statue of brutal conquistador Juan de Oñate to outside an official county building in northern New Mexico, a 23-year-old man in a red MAGA cap named Ryan Martinez pulled out a gun and opened fire on the crowd, wounding one man.  Martinez then fled the scene in a “white Tesla” but was soon apprehended by sheriff's deputies.
Great, so now we have “pro-conquistador” terrorists?  Who knew?  Now, I’m sure his MAGA attorneys will try and argue that this is all nothing but a “false flag” and that the real perpetrator was a George Soros-financed ANTIFA radical in a MAGA costume.  Of course, the success of that defense is a bit of a longshot, given all those cameras Teslas have onboard.  Hell, his entire getaway was probably recorded in living color and 4K.
But seriously?  A MAGA terrorist actually fled the scene of a right-wing political shooting in a friggin’ Tesla?  Guess he must have been in a hurry to meet up with his mom over at Whole Foods.  Now, not to be critical, but wouldn’t a white Ford Bronco have been a much better choice for his escape?  They seem to have a better track record for police chases than a Tesla.  Ironically, after getting arrested in his sweet “Green New Deal Tesla,” Martinez claimed his actions were partly due to the high gas prices at the pump under Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach Elon Musk for comment were unsuccessful, as he was busy down at the Mexican border, espousing GOP anti-immigration narratives over his Twitter “X” platform.  No worries - I’m sure as soon as Musk learns of Martinez’s predicament, he’ll offer him free lifetime Supercharger access.  As for me, well - I’m pretty sure there’s nothing wrong with young Ryan Martinez - that about 25 years in prison can't fix.
