Easy Does It, Finlay Donovan
To my knowledge, this is the first fanfic posted for this series, so that’s fun.
In which Delia is taking horseback riding lessons and Finlay cannot catch a break.
(Set sometime after Knocks 'Em Dead. Canon typical violence. Just the normal amount of dead bodies.)

Delia’s riding instructor is dead. Based on the bullet hole in the middle of his forehead, the mob probably had something to do with it, which means Finlay had something to do with it, which means her and Vero need to get rid of him.
“The children are fine.” Vero rounds the corner into the giant blue tent. “They’re with the stablehand learning the proper way to brush a horse.”
“Thank God.” Delia and her friends are safe, for now, and Zach’s with Steven. The only things they have to worry about are the dead man in the pen, and the wild mustang, also in the pen.
She eyes them wearily and possibly murderously, her ears pinned back.
“Hey buddy,” Finlay tries, for some reason that is not at all projection, to convince the animal that this is normal, routine even, something people go through every now and then and come out the other side still free. At this point, it’s barely an exaggeration. “We’ll be out of your mane soon, no need to look too suspicious.” Or kick me to death. she thinks, yet feels an urge to leave the gate open, to let the animal go, although Northern Virginia isn’t exactly known for it’s wild horses.
Luckily— and they really, desperately need something to go well today— the horse retreats as far from them, and the body, as the round pen will allow.
The tack trunk, with it’s meager contents of ropes and halters and things Finlay doesn’t know the names of, is not an ideal coffin. Someone will notice it’s gone, unlike her good table linens. But it’s here, and they can’t exactly afford to be choosy.
The corpse is heavier then he looks; they always are. “Easy does it Finn,” Vero says. “Don’t throw your back out. We’ve got this.”
She thinks of that book, Misty of Chincoteague, that she read the kids a few mouths ago. They’ll go, she decides, if the island isn’t too expensive and they don’t go to prison for this; a family vacation: her, Vero, and the kids.
They rest him on the rim of the trunk and with one final shove, let gravity do the remainder of the work.
Finlay shuts the lid and sits on it, more short of breath then she’d like to admit. When was the last time she did a normal workout?
Vero stretches, arches her back. These days, this is the only sort of exercise they can make time for. “So where should we—”
“Mommy?”
“Delia!” Her daughter stands in the entryway of the tent, hot pink riding helmet in hand. The horse, apparently afraid of Delia, walks away from her and by necessity, closer to Finlay and Vero. She looks utterly done with all this shit. “Vero and I were just making a new friend.”
“Or two,” Vero mutters under her breath, and nudges some straw over the surprisingly small blood pool.
The whole thing comes across as hopelessly suspicious to Finlay’s own ears. But they’ve gotten away with this much, gotten to this absurd moment, surely her five year old won’t be her undoing. Surely they won’t traumatize her?
The horse, for one, does not look convinced. She watches Finlay through one eye, ready to bolt if this thing goes sideways.
In the entryway, the stablehand appears, alarmed and a little angry.
“My mommy’s a horse whisperer!”

After finishing your work at office you were heading over to your house. You thought before going to your house you should visit your junkie detective friend to check on him. His cases interests you alot. You love visiting the baker street boys and they also likes having you cause you're smart and funny in a way as well and always hyped with energy. As you knocked the door John opened it and obviously the room was a mess cause they were solving a case of stolen jewel.
"so, too swamped up aren't you two?" You said
"yes, cause lestrad is coming in any minute here I'd have to give him some explanation " said Sherlock
"wait so the great detective doesn't have a theory?" You asked
"seven actually but I have to come up with one" he replied
"guess it's time to show my intelligence" saying this you jumped on the couch of John and sat cause he was standing and took the files. Three of you were absolutely into solving it.
One theory you say he pointed out some flaw and one he says you point out some. Ultimately there were two theories left one of them has to be the correct key to the door. To know that you three need some more time to investigate, maybe you guys have to visit the place of stolen jewel as well.
Suddenly John said by looking at the window "oops it's not lestrad alone today"
"shit is it Delia?" You asked
"it's Donovan but how did you know?" Asked john
"because lestrade only comes with two of his best companions...."
"best?" Sherlock interrupted
"yes cause they're all stupid and he somehow only likes to hangout with these stupid people. Best for him, Anyway so if it was Anderson John would've laughed cause Sherlock puts him in his place in a second but Donovan! She's a real headache"
You're friend seemed a little proud of your deduction but didn't wanted to show it so he went to open the door.
"ah! Lestrade we're still on it " Sherlock said
"that means you haven't solved it yet" retorted Donovan and pushed inside.
"in a way yes" said Sherlock "but..."
"but he didn't say he won't solve it" you said interrupting him,
You were lying on John's couch at that moment and your legs were kept upwards while you're holding the case file infront of you.
"so now the detective needs help" said she
"yes Daisy cause I'm intelligent" said you
"it's Donovan!" Replied she
You looked at Sherlock and whispered "was she Donovan all the time ?"
"yes both lestrade and Sherlock mouthed
"you're also a freaking freak" said she to you
This time you sat up and faced her, the trio of men knew Donovan is now fucked up.
"yes Donovan that's why the famous detective who solves most of your cases to save you from the shame wants me to help him and not you" you said.
And the trio of men kinda bursted in laughter and Sherlock and Watson both winked at you to which you gave your mischievous smile as response.

Stephanie Gets Juiced.
Betelgeuse (Beetlejuice) FTM TG
William was a natural practical joker and comedian, always pulling tricks and pranks on his older sibling Stephanie…he very much couldn’t stand how uptight Stephanie was and wished she could just chill and learn to have fun every once in a while, but Stephanie hated him for trying to get her to do such things, she hated his pranks, she hated his jokes, she never found his jokes to be funny in the slightest and she had a feeling that he was out to harm her.
Stephanie and William lived with their parents Timothy and Helena, and they were often visited by their relatives Edgar, Vincent, Peter, Edward, Kim, and Ichabod. Timothy and Helena were an eccentric couple that had all sorts of weird knick-knacks in their house, any movie prop that was from a movie they watched they owned a copy of and almost all over the house. One prop that Timothy was especially proud of was the sandworm from the movie ‘Beetlejuice’ which he kept near his night-stand and treated it like it was a family pet.
One night Stephanie got the fright of her life when William tricked her into picking up a magazine, basically William swapped out the contents of her usual fashion magazine with that of a gory Tales From The Crypt style comic and she didn’t like blood or gore, horror anything terrified her, she was a bit of a wuss like that. She screamed and shouted…’Mom! William swapped out my usual magazines for gory horror comics.’ ‘Oh you know he’s just being mischievous.’ ‘Mischievous? Mischievous? He put live maggots in my cereal yesterday morning, he put on undead makeup and pretended he was Donovan from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade to scare me into thinking that’s what i’ll look like when i’m old, he stole some of dad’s hair clippings and stuck them on my hands and told me I was turning into a werewolf, need I go on?’
‘Your brother just likes to play pranks.’ ‘He has gone too far this time.’ William laughed as he saw his sister having a hissy fit…’You just need to chill, sis. Besides, it’s just good fun, you’re so easy to fool, such an easy patsy for my pranks.’ ‘One of these days William you are going to end up behind bars if you don’t stop being naughty.’ ‘Me? Behind bars? For doing pranks? Hardly, it’s not illegal to pull pranks and have fun. You’re such a Delia, you know that, right?’ ‘Mom, William is comparing me to Delia Deitz again!’
Stephanie hated being compared to Delia, she hated the fact she was compared to her despite the fact she was actually quite similar to her. ‘But it’s true, you totally are like her. You even dress like her and you have your own Otho.’ ‘If you are talking about Richard, he’s not my Otho.’ ‘Oh yes, he is, he is totally the Otho to your Delia.’
Her lackey/best friend who always followed her and also helped her with her ‘projects’, was named Richard, Richard was a man who very much resembled Otho himself, and had a similar fashion sense, he often acted like he was smarter than everyone else but he knew that he wasn’t. ‘I swear this family is so weird sometimes.’ ‘Weird? Whatever do you mean?’ ‘Well all the movie props for one thing, and dad treats a sandworm prop like it’s a pet. And well..I don’t think me and William are related.’ ‘How?’ ‘I feel like William belongs to another family and not this one.’
William couldn’t resist thinking of another brilliant prank to pull, as he saw there was a model city that Timothy had built and there was a model graveyard of sorts with a tombstone with the name ‘Betelgeuse’ on it and he turned to Stephanie and said…’Hey Steph, I dare you to read the name on this tombstone.’ ‘Oh no I am not falling for another one of your jokes.’ ‘It’s no joke, go on, give it a go.’ ‘Oh alright, but only if you promise to not pull any more pranks.’
“I promise.”
‘Very well then..Betelgeuse.’ ‘Say it again.’ ‘Betelgeuse.’ ‘Good, one more time please.’ ‘Betelgeuse!’ Stephanie let out a piercing scream as a spirit emerged from the model and began to float around her, teasing her, mocking her. ‘Hahaha! It’s showtime! Hello there, what do we have here?’ The spirit was definitely Betelgeuse himself, and he took delight in making fun of Stephanie and her outfits, which annoyed her, she lunged at him and attempted to attack him only for the ghost with the most to smirk at her.
“Oooh, this is going to be fun.”
‘I see you have met my sister.’ ‘That’s your sister?’ ‘Unfortunately, yes.’ The wisecracking specter laughed as he examined her, making wisecracks and jokes that Stephanie definitely did not find funny in the slightest. ‘The last time I saw an outfit with that much feathers on it I was in Las Vegas!’
Stephanie couldn’t take being made fun of by him and she attempted to get rid of him by trying to say his name again, only for him to make her go mute with his supernatural powers. ‘I gotta be honest here, I agree with your brother, you definitely have no chill.’ He quipped, as Stephanie’s body temperature began to freeze up and her skin slowly turned white and she found herself turning into a living snow-woman.
Betelgeuse couldn’t help but laugh, this was fun for him and he definitely loved Wlliam, a man after his own heart. He thought of something that would be even more fun, as he took on a transparent form and then dove into Stephanie’s mouth, and entered her body, possessing her in the process.
Her stomach gurgled and she felt like she was going to be sick as her skin slowly became paler, looking almost ghostly white as her hands enlarged, her nails were turning a black color and also her skin was definitely looking a bit dirtier as her chest and torso bulked up a bit as di her stomach, her breasts retracted into her chest and she let out a loud terrified scream. In addition to this her hips retracted while her feet enlarged.
Her outfit was also slowly changing, changing to look like the ghost with the most’s iconic suit and her privates altered to become more masculine while she found herself growing a little bit, while her neckline contorted and her brown hair slowly turned a dirty blondish color and a bit of it even fell out at the top while it became more wild-looking in general, her eyebrows thickened as dark circles formed around her eyes, making it look like she was either really tired or was going through a raccoon lookalike phase.
Her features slowly altered, as her teeth became dirtier looking while stubble grew on her face, her facial features slowly morphing into his and her voice followed suit, changing to sound exactly like the ghost with the most himself, making her sound like Michael Keaton, she couldn’t believe it…she had been possessed and taken over by Betelgeuse. ‘You are in so much trouble for this.’ ‘I don’t think so, sis.’ ‘What?’ ‘I think mom and dad are going to think this is hilarious, I mean you look and sound like my favorite Tim Burton character.’
Stephanie grumbled, not liking the idea of being Betelgeuse, but she eventually warmed up to i, realizing that it wasn’t so bad being him and that she could use her newfound powers to finally relax and have fun. She realized that maybe it was her who was the weird one the entire time and that she was born to be weird, and that is when she decided to make a promise.

It's showtime! Much delayed but here is Starkid Beetlejuice, the dreamcast, the dreamcast, the dreamcast. Sorry for going inactive right after saying I was back, but I am actually back for real this time. As for Beetlejuice, while I may not love to the degree as a lot of people, it is a very good show. I know how popular this show is, but wanted to wait for the spooky month to actually do it. With so many Starkid casts created for this show, I hope mine stands out.

Life In Simsville
Life in Simsville is an original Sims 2 series developed on Youtube in 2007 which aired for five seasons. This series is based off my characters created from classic Sims games such as The Sims, The Sims Bustin' Out, and The Urbz: Sims in the City.The series is a comedy dealing with everyday life, whether it's problems with school, relationships, friendship, bullies, jobs, and family. The series ended on Youtube in 2012 after its fifth season. A spin-off called “Neon East” was later created which takes place during seasons 4 and 5 of Life in Simsville. It centers on Life in Simsville’s alumni, Meredith Butler, who was a college friend of Jill, Erica, and Saria.

SEASON 1: High School (2007)
This season introduces teenagers and their lives throughout high school. First, we have the Smith family, Jill, and her two younger sisters Jasmine and Ellen. We then meet have the Henry family, Sarah (Ellen's best friend) and her younger brother Sam (whom Ellen has a crush on). We then meet the Brackingtons, Eliza (Ellen and Sarah's best friend) and her older sister Erica (Jill's best friend). We then meet the Hendersons, Saria, and her younger brother Bryan (Sam's best friend), and younger sister Carla. Last, but not least, we meet Shayna Miller, an adult who has just recently moved to Simsville from Neon East with her older sister, Anna. This season, the cast go through several obstacles in life, including facing romance, being bullied, having trouble with jobs, crashing house parties, struggling with outdoor camping, being framed for thievery, as well as sneaking out to nightclubs and getting stuck inside haunted mansions on Halloween. This season ends with Jill, Erica, and Saria graduating from high school and the gang celebrating at a bowling center.
SEASON 2: College (2008)
This season picks up where Season 1 left off, where Jill, Erica, and Saria go off to college and attend Sim State University. However, they are also joined by their younger siblings, due to them attending summer school and receiving the high school credits they needed to graduate and attend college. This season introduces some new characters including Meredith Butler, a college student who has been struggling to graduate for a long time and ends up befriending Jill and Erica. We also meet Bruno Matson, a college bully who makes Sam and Bryan's college lives a living hell throughout the semester. We then have Delia Martin and Diedre Stevens, the rivals of Ellen, Jasmine, Eliza and Sarah. They all share a dorm together, and pretty much prove that not all females can get along while living together. Things, however, end up getting worse when Gracy Abbott, a college senior, moves in and raises hell for everyone, and results in burning down their dorm. Gracy treats Carla's presence as a breeze of air, as though she does not exist. This is a running gag that occurs throughout the rest of the series, and it is still in question whether or not Gracy really can see Carla. That's not all the surprises we have! Shayna is also revealed to be pregnant this season, however, the father is unknown. This season ends with the cast celebrating New Years Eve, while Shayna ends up giving birth to her newborn baby.
SEASON 3: (2008 - 2009)
This season continues on with the gang's college lives. However, this time, with Ellen, Sarah, Carla, and Eliza's dorm burnt down to the ground (with Delia, Diedre, and Gracy now moved out), they now live in a much smaller and more uncomfortable home off campus, while Jasmine ends up moving into Jill, Erica, and Saria's dorm, and Jill and Erica end up getting their own apartment in order to get away from Jasmine's annoyance. Sam and Shawn continue to live their lives being bullied by Bruno, while Bryan moves out and lives in the campus Greek House along with new characters, Owen Howard and Rick Pebbles. Jasmine makes her New Year's resolution come true by opening her own fashion clothing store, with Saria as her assistant manager and Gracy as her only employee...however, things don't go well for her business as Gracy mistreats the customers. Shayna confronts the father of her newborn daughter, Vince Conway (whom she dated in one episode during season 1), and decides to name her daughter after the father, thinking it would be weird to name her daughter after the mother since it is her own name. Shayna spends most of this season taking advantage of her sister, Anna, and leaving her to babysit her daughter while Shayna goes out and parties. Shayna also becomes jealous when she finds out that Vince is engaged to another woman. Bella Goth makes a special guest appearance this season, continuing her story about being abducted by a UFO. This season ends with Meredith leaving and moving back home to Neon East, the gang graduating from Sim State University, Sam finally proposing to Ellen, and Shayna finding out that Vince isn't the real father of her baby.
SEASON 4: (2009 - 2010)
This season begins with the cast starting their lives off to adulthood. Sam and Ellen discuss their marriage plans and having children in the future, while Ellen decides to take up a job babysitting, believing that she needs practice being around children if she plans to have some of her own. Shayna ends up hiring Ellen as her babysitter, and pretty much treats her the same way she did Anna last season. Saria begins her career as a professional model when she is approached by a new character, Miko Jeffers, who becomes her manager, and her boyfriend. Jasmine also ends up hiring a new employee, Jamie Sampson, in order to replace Gracy after leaving last season, however, Jasmine becomes annoyed when she discovers that all Jamie wants to do is be exactly like her. Gracy later returns when she offers to buy out Jasmine's store, in exchange of paying her millions, while Carla continues her career in law school and Eliza takes up fashion designing. Jill, Ellen, and Jasmine are also surprised when they've come to find out that they have half-brothers, Andy and Joey Smith. Things also get twisted when we find out that the real father of Shayna's daughter is Rob Henderson (Saria, Bryan, and Carla's father), while Bryan and Sarah begin to develop feelings for eachother. This season ends with Anna leaving Shayna and moving back to Neon East, Gracy threatening to sue Jasmine for breach of contract, and Sam and Ellen getting married.
SEASON 5: (2012)
This season begins with Jasmine being taken to court with Carla as her lawyer, being sued by Gracy. With Jasmine losing the case, she also ends up losing her home and her business, and her boyfriend, James Donovan. Jill and Erica then offer Jasmine a job as a waitress at “Brackington’s Bistro,” which is a restaurant owned by Erica’s father until Jasmine gets back on her feet. Meanwhile, Sam and Ellen are on their honeymoon in Three Lakes. When they return back to Simsville, they realize that their lives have changed, struggling in finding a place to live after blowing most of their money on their wedding and honeymoon. Sarah and Bryan continue their secret relationship, but after discovering how addicted Sarah is to witchcraft, Bryan breaks up with her due to Sarah being unable to control her addiction. A new character, Don Henderson, is later introduced. Don is the cousin of Saria, Bryan, and Carla who moves into the Henderson household and ends up renting Bryan’s old bedroom. He later applies to work at Brackington’s Bistro alongside Jill, Erica, and Jasmine. This season ends with a Halloween Special, where Zunira the witch is resurrected by her brother and sister, Zeke and Zingella. Zunira gets her revenge by casting a spell on Simsville, enabling everyone’s deepest and darkest fears to come true. Sarah ends up saving the town by encountering Zunira’s spell and making things back to normal. The final scene ends with Ali, who is now a vampire, expressing to Joseph, the vampire king of Simsville, how miserable she’s been as a vampire. Joseph then gets fed of with Ali’s complaining and asks her to leave his mansion. Ali does as he wishes and accidentally steps out into the sunlight, burning her to her death...

overnight sensation: the reader’s friend drags her to klg’s end of year party and she soon gets uncomfortable. eventually, she finds her way to kyle spencer’s quiet bedroom, where kyle finds her. they proceed to go on instagram and make fun of the people partying downstairs.
♡ i didn't just kiss her: the reader breaks up with her boyfriend when she realizes she’s in love with kyle. safe to say, he shares the same feelings.
☁ will he: an angsty fic based on the song by joji. kyle cheats on his girlfriend and finds himself remembering the better times that you shared together.
electric feel: kyle takes the reader to the fair on a date and somehow convinces her to face her fears and go on a carnival ride that she fears.
if that’s not love: kyle spencer gets drunk and the reader, who happens to be cordelia’s baby sister, sneaks him into the academy. as he sobers up, the reader admits that she’s in love with him.
strangers: a songfic based on the song by halsey. delia begins to have second thoughts about dating one of her students after madison catches them in bed together.
☁ it takes time: when michael langdon admits to cheating on cordelia’s daughter, his fiancé, she goes back home to the academy to heal.

A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR OF THE TENTH CUBE
And by Editor I mean, Claire Hazel,
(whom you may know as C.M. Hazel)
Writing my first historical fiction novel was a task of love, but a great endeavor nonetheless.
When we do things we love. we love the things we do. The Tenth Cube was, in essence, my love for romance and history poured onto pages of combined plotlines and historical facts. Coupled with science and a good dose of ritz, it blossomed like a garden flower into the novel it became. I felt, finally, like a writer the moment I wrote “The End.”
Writers, like professionals of other art forms, just are. Mostly, it occurred to me long ago, we can become it, like the second you write the last sentence of that novel, or publish your book, like there is a glorified ending to calling yourself a member of the elite group of artists who pine at the sight of a lonely blank page.
Or so I felt.
I read years ago -and my apologies to the person who wrote it for I sincerely do not recall the author- that ‘the moment you call yourself what you esteem yourself to be, is the moment you become it’. Therefore, if you want to be a writer, you call yourself a writer and let others deliberate on whether you are apt to be or not.
I practiced my skill of saying I was a writer in front of a mirror or while waiting for traffic to move in the lane ahead of mine. I yelled it out the window for good measure. “Move the fuck out of the way. I am a writer and can write this into my book!”
The moment somebody asked me and I said it out loud, I embodied it with pride, like the day I stepped with character shoes onto a stage felt for the actress in me. It burgeoned out of me like it was supposed to forever, waiting to be discovered. I beamed with the wine-laced fever of the evening.

It was a pivotal moment in my history, redefining where I ended up with my work. I went on a search for myself and found my writing voice. The days were growing longer with the dawn of my ideas and entries, so I had to make use of what I was inspired to do.
Despite my assertion, that I was a writer and not a poser, fear of criticism stalled me. I faced it like stage fright, but it was a sinister face at the end of my journal telling me it was not good enough. Nothing could come out of my penned notes and rhythmic pentameters.
I read about imposter syndrome around the time, looking for ways to face my fears. As it turns out, it can apply to anyone in any career, but it is a disorder that affects writers especially so, the idea that you aren’t good enough is prevalent amongst the inked-fingered-wordsmiths in my profession.
When I finished the Tenth Cube, everything changed. While editing, I thought about a piece I had never published which explored the elements of fear. From that entry into my journal, came the text I eventually entered into my novel. I felt it appropriate for my second published book and first historical fiction novel. Aspiring writers are usually the best readers and learn best while to reading other writers’ works, taking what they can to heart. Here is part of the text in my book.
A WRITING INDULGENCE
When I first started writing The Cube (as I lovingly call this novel), I typed without direction and wrote about many topics. I posted most of it on an old website, I would not even dare call a blog at this point. I eventually learned to hold hands with my muse in a better way and supplied my artistic knowledge with my other artistic experience. But, it inevitably always led me toward the same reason for not embarking onto a manuscript fully. Fear.
My head swam with thoughts and reasons why I would fail miserably at my task. I just knew.
I know everything in stories has already been said and done.
I know I’m not alone when it comes to storytelling and interesting facts about life and circumstance. I know the very principle of storytelling relies on the fact that the narrative is good and characters are interesting. And, then again, I don’t know anything at all.
I personally see the story better in my head than how it reflects on writing.
Despite knowing and fear, stories ultimately lead you where you need to go. And for sake of argument,
Yes, I believe it’s possible to be a good storyteller, despite everything having been done already.
Rarely am I ever afraid, even rarest is my admission to the fear, but it scares me a little still because nothing has ever worked in my mind better than my stories.
I’ve failed so miserably at so many things it’s hard to start this again. I do not fear telling you this though. I write for a while and the fear disappears. I want to be the bearer of good news for new writers or those having an urge to quit like I have so many times before. Bear with me on this.
The phrase ‘It started with a notebook I once wrote’ jumped into my head a while ago. I wrote a poem about it because of the many notebooks later it took me to create the first personal entry into a public medium. I’d written about theater plays and Language Education with a technical point of view, but storytelling, like acting in stories which came to life through my fingers, became the part of me I most enjoyed writing.

About eight years ago, I wrote a story –also based on a weird dream- and I went from there. I haven’t really stopped writing since. So, maybe that’s my beginning for this. I’ve scattered ideas and unfinished stories everywhere. My own pending as ever, the satire runneth over my brimming mind, for lack of better understanding sets perfectly in here. But, to make things simple, I will advise you to keep trying new and trying for more.

Delia will hopefully continue to inspire stories – I am in research and writing the second novel. There will likely be a third as well.
Aspiring writer and authors, the gist of what I mean in this.
It took me X years to develop the voice I needed to write this book.
It took me lll to research and write the full novel, with periods of off and on to dream and work on other projects.
It has taken me lV between trying to publish on my own and finding a publisher.
The Tenth Cube became an enduring project because it has a life worth living, I have said that before I think. Most writers live in this world where stories cannot go untold. Therefore my dear thirtysomething-writer who hasn’t started yet, if you are like I was, find the outlet to do so and share the story that has a life worth living.
Take the time to write and sit with confidence to edit. And please, share with me that hard-pressed jewel when you like.
A big box with recycled paper packing and a mug of coffee with enough supply for reading will be the most delicious treat a grown girl could ever get.
What are then, these so-called Elements
By ways of telling you of the best technique I have used to move my stories and find the hidden information in my characters I need to shape their persona, we will use the What if? technique. What ifs are a way to create possibility. When you have doubts, there are endless What ifs going around in your head like a merry-go-round of incertitude. In essence, The Elements of said turntable of fear could be considered the following:
What if I can’t write like the rest of the authors I read?
This could fall within the impostor syndrome I wrote about before. You are not an impostor of your own game, you feel like a writer, believe it with confidence. It does not mean you have to be like other writers, successful or not.
Writing may or may not take time. For the present me, it is a matter of sitting to the type or jot down notes. But as I mentioned, it took many years to develop a voice I found pleasing and suitable, according to my desired writing style. I guess what is important is that
you don’t imitate but emulate those you love AT FIRST to develop your own voice
write about what you like and not what people like, the audience will find you and relate better
study the greats and accommodate your needs through your learning styles and experiences
nobody is alike and we are all connected, so find what works for your personal style without judging yourself or thinking you will be compared
What if there are things I don’t know or need to include in my novel I know absolutely nothing about?
Researching novels doesn’t have to be grueling work. Annote as you write (for pantsers) or outline the novel as you want it to be (plotter). Your writing style can help or hinder you. So, read carefully,
Research as needed before and fully after finishing your manuscript
Too much research can create difficulty for you and/or your reader, who is probably not in need to sit through, say, a history class instead of understanding through the plot movement
Too little research shows lack of pulchritude and disrespect to your readers, or make you sound nonchalant and ignorant.
Rule of thumb? Be aware, show knowledge, but don’t over inform.
What if I get stuck in my writing process?
Find inspiration wherever you look or take time to be still and OBSERVE
Nature, life, family, etc, show us and teach us. Use its lessons to show you the way, so do not just look and see, WATCH AND LEARN
Don’t overwhelm yourself or stick to a plotline if you feel stuck. Take a break to refresh your ideas and they will hit you when you least expect it, I promise you! An exercise that works for me is jumping the part where I am stuck and either mind mapping or planning the ending first then backtracking to the difficult area
Talk to your characters. they tell you lies at times but help you find the way. Listen carefully!
What if they do not help me publish?
Many writers are still sitting on the sideline of genius, gems of witing prose at their fingertips. Sadly, most give up writing because of this. I have quarried and continue to quarry publishers without much success, but I keep pressing on.
I self-published my first two books with great difficulty and many years of work, but they paid off in a way nothing else has. Take your chances with self-publishing. (I will soon open a platform for other writers to send me manuscripts to publish as an editor. News on this later!)
What if I don’t have time to write?
Write where ever you are able to create a strong writing muscle. Keep pen and pads where ever you can or use phones and tablets, recording apps, and /or your digital cameras
Take every chance you get to exercise the need to write, be it a post-it note or a short phrase inside a journal, a Tweet or a love note, make those words count in your favor
What if I do not feel like I can write my novel (yet)?
Use blogs, submit to magazines, write articles or content, keep journals, or write your family’s newsletter.
Contact your local papers or ask if anybody needs a content writer in your school or local businesses
Start with simpler texts, like magazine entries and restaurant menus
Keep writing your way into the published author you want to be without thinking that you have to have a published book in your hands before you can call your self a writer. There are hundreds of professions where writing is a need and many forms of writing are included in this. Comic book writers, for exa
Comic book writers, for example, are storytellers, too. It is a matter of how you see your writing come to life to show others your stories. Find where your style fits best and show your best work.
My final writing indulgence was to tell other writers that there are ways, time, and chances to do what you love and ways to do it. The biggest problem most people face is fear, but fear can come with a face, a price tag, a backseat without a window, or an empty stomach and children on your hip.
We may fear different things which hinder our jump into the life we want. Discovering the fear we face is the first step toward the freedom from it. The next is up to you.
