I played the first game of the new Necromunda Ash Wastes campaign I'm running with my buddy. It's my Corpse Grinder Cults gang vs his Delaque. We started with a Wasteland Encounter mission, I got 4 guys to start with while Delaque only had 2. At the end of each round a random D3 reinforcements would appear on one of the board edges.

By round 3 both gangs had bottled because we had such a low starting count. Our vehicles appeared on the board and basically left the same turn without doing anything. One of the Delaque bikers with a web pistol deployed on the terrain walkways. He drove up to one of my champs and webbed him but failed to incapacitate him.

One of my Juve reinforcements deployed behind the Delaque on turn 4. He got shot off the platform and would limp on the floor for the rest of the battle, but it was enough of a distraction for my Champion to run up with dual cleavers and kill the Delaque biker.

By turn 5 my leader and the rest of my juves ran off the map. My Cutter continued to do work and killed one of the Delaque champions. Unfortunately I kept failing my cool checks and by round 6 or 7 all of my guys ran off the battlefield, making the Delaque the victors of the first battle.

Also, shout outs to my champion with flensing saw. He killed the Delaque Nacht Ghuul with shiver sword, then promptly ran into dangerous terrain and sank into the sand. We rolled very high on his injury table roll and he died outside the hospital that we could not afford.

This game was very fun, but brutal. I'm down one champion with 2 other juves in recovery, I had to sell my dead champion's gear to afford a dirtbike and respirator for the next game. Delaque are also in a not so great position. They lost a fighter in the hospital and had to pay for a bionic eye for a champion that took an eye injury. After buying a replacement fighter to field the web gun, they basically made no credits after winning the game.

Our next game will be a Rolling Roads mission where the Corpse Grinders are attacking the Delaque trying to make a supply run. I can't wait!

The newest recruits to the Coronid Watchmen, a demi-cohort of mining riggers who will be employed as saboteurs and explosives experts. This motley crew are used to being in hazardous environments so are perfectly suited to operating in enemy territory, laying explosive charges and booby traps to deadly effect. They are also expendable, after all, there are thousands of others just like them in the mining colonies who can be pressed into service…

This little group started off as Hive Scum from Necromunda and I converted them using parts from various Genestealer Cult kits along with a few Delaque Gang pieces.

I’m really happy with the results and I definitely want to convert some more in the future. For now they will join the ranks of the Coronid Watchmen and sow discord and anarchy in the name of the Cult.

Slagg’s Drift, Week 0

What a spot of fun that was! When a Guilder of dubious reputation named Yotan Bliss cracked open an old vault in Slagg’s Drift, he found more than anyone bargained for. He bottled as soon as he heard the moans, and the gangers who’d had the bad fortune to sign on with that drokkhead found themselves locked in the vault with hundreds of plague zombies! Four gangs, three fighters apiece, trying to survive the hoards until their buddies outside could get the doors open. They hurried to climb off the killing floor, and even worked together well enough, though they clearly didn’t much care for it. The chaos lads (Red Hand, they were called) went off on their own, and climbed pretty high, but the flesheaters followed ‘em up, and it weren’t long ‘fore they tumbled off the catwalks with their guts spilling out. The others fared a bit better, though the Eschers (Compulsory Vivisection, the combi-gang of killers and punk rockers) got mobbed pretty bad. I saw one girl go down, and another was surrounded ‘til the “Ministorum priest” from El Orden de San Miguel del Vacio (try saying that three times fast!) tossed a gout from his hand-flamer and set half of them on fire. He seemed to be aiming squarely at the lass, but it worked out well, so I suppose all’s well that ends well. Those whispering Delaques (the Serpent Syndicate, the snakes!) got caught up in a tight space, and that grenade-launcher-toting Orden lass blasted ‘em all out, doing some significant damage to the zombies, but hitting the Delaque leader squarely in the back! ‘Course, the Delaque got their own share of backstabbing. When the Delaque girl shotgunned the Escher into a hoard of zombies, I was pretty sure it wasn’t an accident, until she threw herself into the fray to save her! They’re a weird lot, those Delaques. Never know where you stand with ‘em. By the time the doors got opened, all the gangs were banged up pretty bad, ‘cept the Orden, on account of the big lad with the 4-foot claws tearing up zombie after zombie.

When they got out, they found medicae, crates of loot, and a note reading:

"Thank you for your assistance with the vault. Distracting those zombies was what I needed to get access to what I wanted. As a token of thanks, I have arranged for a medicae to nurse any of your members back to health. You may also have some of the equipment of the previous crew I sent in there to do the job. Obviously they were not as successful as you were. No hard feelings yeah? - Yotan Bliss"

Funny little thing that cookin’ up here, eh?

This Necromunda-Pattern lasgun is fielded by Steffie Hoolygan, Gang Sister and personal bodyguard to Chymist Helganna Synner. It was purchased from the Mother Spire as a replacement primary weapon when her original autogun was destroyed beyond repair during an attempted assassination attempt by Delaque agents. No expense was spared, as much as one can for a lasweapon, and it holds great sentimental value to Sister Hoolygan. The increased risk of theft for such a fine lasrifle is offset by the threat of Steffie's enraged vengeance being visited upon anyone stupid enough to try and take it. Necromunda-Pattern lasguns fire semi-automatically, with the distinctive lever used to aid reloading. Swinging the lever forward forces the spent laspack out of the receiver, and swinging the lever back in helps seat the replacement firmly against the firing mechanism's main terminals. A practiced user can reload the rifle just as quickly as a Kantrael or Galaxy-pattern model, with the added assurance that the lasgun is less likely to accidentally eject or be ripped free during combat. A heatsink above the firing mechanism helps dissipate waste heat in the absence of a more conventional cooling jacket.

It looks like the Specialist preview went up a little earlier than intended! So, here’s a dump of new Necromunda figures. Wish they actually had something more to show for the new Enforcers than that teaser video, though.

Finally after 2 years of annoying my wargaming group, we finally got a Necromunda campaign started! Today we did a bit of campaign set up, getting a deck of territories, agreeing on what house rules if any to use and teaching the new players how the game is played. Currently we have people running

Potentially we have a seventh player who would take Palanite Enforcers. All in all a good variety of gangs. I'm really excited! I need to finish painting the other half of my Squat gang. Our next game day will be practice games so everyone can learn their rules and do last minute tweaks to their lists, then we'll start the campaign proper after!

A Kelermorph joins the ranks of the Coronid Watchmen. This was a fun little project I had started a couple of years ago and never got round to finishing.

When GW released the Kelermorph miniature, it didn’t really appeal to me. I felt that it wouldn’t fit in with the overall look or theme of my Genestealer Cult army, and I didn’t like the overly “Wild West gunslinger” aesthetic of the kit. So I decided to convert my own Kelermorph using spare bits from the Achilles Ridgerunner and Delaque Gang kits.

I’m happy with how it has turned out although I did start to lose a little momentum towards the end of painting it. Glad it’s finished though, and ready to join the Watchmen as they spread across the far corners of the Coronid Deeps.
