Zoe being openly gay in this episode was everything I ever needed. The show writers didn't even just hint at it or queer bait this time - they were 100% direct. I'm so happy about this.
Also legit everyone in Paris knew Kitty Noire was a girl and got to see her flirt with Scarabella. And Alya just rolled right along with her being flirty. Just incredible.
Also the way she looks at Marinette!!

Archelona is here to join the heroes' side! Still swapping some heroes around, so Alya and Nino are up next. I'm not completely satisfied with her colour scheme yet, but I'll change it accordingly when I figure out what I don't like about it. And Nino and Alya are siblings in this au because I apparently like them with a sibling dynamic more lol
Alya has been working in the same 4-star restaurant since she finished her culinary degree. She's sharing an apartment with her brother Nino, and her life has been perfectly unassuming until she got mixed up in a murder case investigated by the legendary Detective Roux. After successfully clearing her name, she was contacted by a mysterious creature, which gave her the power to assist Detective Roux on a mission to clear the streets of Paris from criminal activity, supernatural or otherwise.

now on to the thing i didn’t like in derision: socqueline. to me, that was the part that felt most like a retcon, because marinette’s reaction to alya in origins makes less sense if socqueline defended her before. why is she so amazed that alya can stand up to chloe? why would she give the ladybug earrings to alya, a girl she just met, and not to the girl who was her personal hero the year before? the girl who inspired the ladybug pigtails?

Crack Prompt: Alya and Adrien were assigned to do a project and Adrien suggested that they work in his house.
It also leads to Alya snooping around and Adrien having to reel her in and then they discovered that Adrien’s father is Hawk Moth.
Adrien instantly gets into a spiral and Alya is there to reassure him during this. They came up with a plan to steal the brooch but also to mess with Gabriel for being a shitty father and villain.
Or in layman’s terms, Adrien goes through a teenage rebellion phase with Alya encouraging this while making sure to support Adrien and threatening to expose Gabriel being a terrible father thanks to Alya’s influence as the Ladyblogger and being best friends with the babysitter of Nadja’s daughter.
(Marinette is blissfully unaware of this because she’s too busy having her brain melt into mush at seeing Adrien in leather outfits and looking absolutely fine)
Bonus if it ends with Rena and Chat just telling off Gabriel after he reveals his plans with the wish and Rena giving Gabriel her absolute terrifying speech of how he should allow his son more freedom or else she will make his life a living hell.
(Let’s say, if he doesn’t comply. She’ll make him her big sister’s new punching bag)
Also, it would be funny if Alya figured out Adrien’s identity during this or Plagg simply said “Screw secret identities” when the duo found out who Hawk Moth is and exposed himself to comfort his holder

i have adrino brainrot right now (do people even say brainrot anymore?? i don’t know but i can’t think of another word for it) and i want share how i view them because i haven’t read fanfic or seen anything else that’s similar enough to this
so adrien and nino are dating and they haven’t told anyone (maybe nino has told alya and adrien has told chloe (i love her and she and adrien are friends shut up) but marinette can’t know for this to work) they have multiple reasons for why they are staying silent the main ones are gabriel, nino thinks adrien doesn’t want to come out, and adrien doesn’t want nino to be bombarded with reporters, paparazzi, fangirls, homophobes/fangirls who want to date adrien (i say fangirls but i mean anyone not necessarily girls),etc if nino becomes popular he wants it to me for who nino is and what he does not because he’s dating a famous model/gabriel’s son and they like their relationship being just between them but that also means having to make sure that they are alone before they can do anything together which is a lot harder than it seems to be so nino goes up to ladybug at one point when he’s carapace(if adrino has revealed their identities to each other) to ask ladybug if it’s ok that if he and chat noir can publicly date because they’re actually dating but they have to keep their relationship secret and ladybug agrees but is a little hurt nino hasn’t told her (marinette) that he’s dating someone and that feeling comes and goes because she wants nino to be able to tell her this stuff but also doesn’t want to know chat noir’s identity and a little less publicly chat noir will flirt or tease nino when carapace is not needed (but only around ladybug/rena or when they think they can without causing a lot of attention so people don’t suspect nino is carapace) and carapace can’t really do the same with adrien (at least around rena and ladybug like chat noir does) but it’s very obvious to people close to adrien that he has the hots for carapace and has made jokes that if carapace wasn’t with chat noir maybe his celebrity status is enough to woo carapace and at times chat noir will ask for the turtle miraculous when he sees ladybug so him and nino can spend time together when they may not be able to as their civilian selves until nino gets the turtle permanently and even after adrino come out publicly they’ll still have dates as chat noir and carapace partially so people don’t think they’ve broken up but mainly because even if they could go do something together without at least one person coming up to them being able to chill with your boyfriend in places most people can’t get to is so much better than going to your typical date locations and the views are so much better (not that they usually look away from each other long enough to notice)

i still think about the scene in frozer where marinette fell over and both luka and adrien offered her a hand up, and while she was stuck deciding. kagami came over and pulled her upright without hesitation. like. this scene was intentionally set up as a representation of marinette being unable to decide which boy to pursue, only for a “rival” girl to take the initiative and her hand. there is no heterosexual interpretation of this

Me being rant-y, I need to get this out of my system
You know what? I'm not sure if people in this fandom actually don't put together that Adrien only writing "I don't know what I want to do in future, but I know that I love Marinette Dupain-Cheng" is the result of him not having been allowed to grow up being his own person and under harsh conditional love (and literal mind control but go off), him then being abused, neglected and forced further into his father's international business where he basically was exploited as it's face and Adrien now loosing all hope in his future because his father is sending him into another country as punishment to make Adrien comply in that his future is already long decided for him and he has no choice.
Or, you know, if yall genuinely just don't care anymore for any other mental health than Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Félix Fathom very loudly crying, screaming and stressing over things, and now yall are just making fun of a depressed teenager - whose about to loose his home, remaining family, his love and friends and future - by calling him a malewife who doesn't and shouldn't have dreams and his own ambitions anyway because Marinette needs someone to raise her kids and cook for her.
So you're doing the same thing Gabriel does, taking Adrien's potential dreams and ambitions away from him before he can possibly have them to fit your own agenda to make you and only you happy, because you decided long ago that Marinette Dupain-Cheng's husband is not allowed to have a job, while you wanna make condescending malewife jokes at stay-at-home husband's expenses.
Like, at this point in this fandom I genuinely can't tell anymore if yall just genuinely can't put that together anymore because only Marinette's and Félix' crying matters since season 4, or if you guys are just actively being bullies now and you don't care anymore since Marinette got her prince serving himself to her on a silver platter and that was all that ever mattered to you about Adrien.
Truly, I can't tell. Because I can barely see any genuine sympathy for Adrien who is about to loose everything in a couple of days, which will also mean that he probably questions if he'll ever see Nathalie alive again.
No? Non of that? Just condescending malewife jokes that actually discourage boys who just wanna enjoy this show and Fandom from being stay-at-home dad's cause all you do is mock? Well alright.
But God help us if Marinette has so much as a paper cut on a finger..

Ladybug’s power restores Nino and Alya to the park bench at the Place des Vosges they were sitting prior to the akuma.
Multibug (voiceover): Miraculous Multibug!
Alya: I am so glad that that akuma is over.
Alya stands, still holding Nino’s hand.
Alya: But I need to check in with Ladybug right now. Meet you at my place?
Cut to a Nino sitting on the edge of Alya’s bed alone.
Nino (voiceover): I... of course. Go see Ladybug.
Rena Furtive lands on her balcony and begins opening the sliding door to her room.
Rena Furtive: Sorry, that took longer than I thought it would.
Rena Furtive closes her door as she transforms back. Ladybug can be seen swinging across Paris in the background.
Rena Furtive: Trixx, let's rest.
Close-up of Nino looking troubled.
Nino: I understand. Ladybug gets priority. It's just... it's been a lot and I really needed to talk to you.
Alya sits next to Nino and places a hand on his shoulder.
Alya: I heard about Adrien. Ladybug's out looking for him since they couldn't find him during the last attack. We don't know if it's a kidnapping or what, but—
Nino: Adrien wasn't kidnapped.
Alya: What?

Nino: He... before Adrien left, he called me. He wouldn't give me any details, but he's run away from home.

Alya: Why didn't you say anything to anyone?
Nino raises his hands in distraught.
Nino: Adrien begged me to keep quiet! He thought that keeping us all in the dark would protect us from his dad and I couldn’t think of a way to talk him out of it. And now I have no idea where he’s gone.
Cut to the image of Carapace raising his arms to create Shell-ter. Adrien stands outside the dome, his hand raised in refusal.
Nino (voiceover): I feel so helpless. Ladybug chose me to be a protector, but if I can’t even protect my best friend… I’m not worthy of wielding the turtle miraculous.
Alya cups Nino’s face in her hands.
Alya: You are a wonderful friend and hero, Nino. And if Adrien said that keeping quiet was the best way to protect him, then you are protecting him.
Alya looks away remorsefully.
Alya: Honestly, if anyone has proved that they aren't worthy of their miraculous, it's probably me.
Nino looks at Alya pleadingly.
Nino: You know that isn't true! Is this because you couldn’t be Rena during the fight today? Ladybug has to understand that that wasn’t your fault!
Alya: You saw the new black cat hero with Ladybug, right?
Cut to the image of Catwalker looking gentlemanly yet aloof.
Nino (voiceover): I didn’t really talk to him, but yeah.
The image of Chat Noir with his ring slipped off his finger.
Alya (voiceover): He’s replacing Chat Noir because Mayura discovered his identity. And that never would have happened if I had been watching out for Chat like I do with every other hero on the team.
Cut to a flashback of Rena Furtive deliberately looking away from Chat Noir as he propels himself over the rooftops, with Mayura lurking in the shadows.
Alya (voiceover): I've always assumed that Chat would be fine without my help. I thought that if I watched him when he left to recharge, I’d end up accidentally learning who he was.
Close up of Mayura grinning in maniacal glee.
Alya (voiceover): So I was completely blind to Mayura lying in wait to ambush him.
Cut to image of Alya comforting Marinette as she goes through a panic attack.
Nino (voiceover): Does Ladybug blame you for that?
Alya (voiceover): I didn’t bring it up. Ladybug has enough to worry about right now. I can't dump on her.
Nino grimaces.
Nino: So instead you dumped your feelings on me?
Alya: Sorry...
Nino takes Alya’s hand in his.
Nino: No, I want you dumping on me. I don't want you to feel like you have no one else to confide in, so if you can't open up to Ladybug, please open up to me. You aren't a failure for putting Chat Noir's identity first. You only acted to protect him, and I know you'll protect the new catboy this time. He won't be alone, and neither will you, Alya—not as long as you have me.
Alya: You aren't alone either, Nino. Just because I'm Ladybug's confidant, I don't want you to feel like you're unimportant to me. You always want to protect the people you care about, and I want to help you do that with Adrien. We don't know enough yet so we'll need to be sneaky about it, but we will figure out what's really going on and keep Adrien safe. We're superheroes—even Gabriel Agreste won't be able to stop us.
