Not enough: Anthony Bridgerton x reader
(Part 2 to too much)
Tumblr media
„I am so terribly sorry for the inconvenience I might have brought on you with my sudden appearance-” she started while walking inside the place of her destination or, to put it more bluntly, after fleeting from her own house upon not-so-subtle fight with her still-husband.
„Y/n! Nonsense my dear, your presence is always welcomed here.” she heard in response and for the first time since the argument she managed to look into the eyes of another person as well as take in the scene in front of her.
Oh dear lord!
Her timing couldn’t be more wrong.
Apparently the only person who was missing from the widow viscountess Bridgerton household was the queen herself, since not only the lady of the house alongside with all her unmarried daughters were enjoying the afternoon tea, but - to Y/N’s very well hidden terror - the duchess and lady Danburry were present as well.
„duchess.” Y/N bowed in the most polite manner she could even though her knees were shaking „lady Danburry.”
Act like nothing happened.
Behave like a lady and not like a little kid, who came her to pour all her worries and tell on her husband who happened to be mean. The last thing she needed was for everyone to talk about her nervousness and giddiness. None of those ladies would be easily fooled and most definitely not lady Danburry with her nosy nature and piercing gaze.
The point was to visit her favourite sister-in-law Eloise who- luckily - were free of any marriage troubles and gain some perspective but that scenario flew away with the gentle summer breeze faster than Y/N could think.
And now she would be kindly invited to join the tea and the respect for widower viscountess alongside with the obligation to the higher positioned duchess (even if family) would forbid her from declining.
„Y/N.” Daphne sent her that tiny, quite shy smile that didn’t calm the nerves even in the slightest. Yes, the duchess was one of the most polite and subtle person in the society, but she was also happily married with another baby on the way.
„Viscountess Bridgerton.” the oldest, lady Danburry on the opposite was known from her sharp tongue and straightforward attitude. That one did not pull her punches.
„My dearest Y/N.” Violet Bridgerton, the mother in law stood up from her place and hugged the girl close. Obviously she was the most open one with her emotions. And the simple warm welcome made Y/n feel a bit strengthened to the point when she even gave a little smile. Tiniest, but honest and still visible.
„Is Anthony with you my dear?’
„Unfortunately my husband is absorbed with the matter of the household today.” Y/N explained, taking a seat next to Violet. „I was rather confused with all the men’s affairs, which brought me here.”
„confused?” Eloise, of whose presence everyone seemed to forget scoffed from her book „You are way smarter that Anthony is, Y/n!”
„Eloise!” her mother friendly scolded her second daughter
„It’s true mama!”
„Even though-’
„Did you come baring notices by any chance, viscountess?" lady Agatha cut into the family exchange innocently taking a sip of her tea, those sharp eyes of a predator glistening
„Notices?”
„Yes viscountess, notices. It;s been a fair amount of time since the marriage, surely something should happen soon between two people who are lucky enough to be in love as much as yo and the viscount?”
Oh...
Oh, she meant that kind of notices.
„May this be so, Y/n?” Daphne asked seeming uncharacteristically brisk. „shall we expect?”
„I certainly hope she won’t be burdened with the heir to the title any time soon--”
‘Eloise!”
„Is it the only purpose of a woman to be obedient to a man and give him children?!”
All the four older woman in the room went quiet and Eloise realised she might have had said a little bit too much. Not only for the lady but in general.
„I suppose our dearest Y/N would love to become a mother and bless us with the little boy or girl, am I correct?”
Of course I would love to, Violet.
I would love to.
Unfortunately so it happens your oldest son refuses to even speak or look at me, let alone performing his so-called marital duty. Which is even more tragic, since I became one to him. Here is the essence of my existence - forever being reminded of the burden I put on his shoulder with storming into his life.
Obviously those thoughts were something the newest viscountess Bridgerton could not form out loud.
„I shall send the regards to my husband ladies. Certainly will not omit to inform him of the expectation placed upon us both.” was the only thing she managed to say with confidence before her voice broke and she covered the sudden wavering by reaching for the sweet placed on the nearby platter.
„Oh my dearest Y/N, it’s no obligation!” Violet seemed quite hurt by the words spoken by her daughter-in-law „Regardless - a child is always a miracle that-”
„Maybe Y/N wouldn’t have to worry about it, if Anthony were taking more interest in her rather than spending time with Benny and Colin.”
„Eloise!”
„It’s just a simple observation! Benedict and Colin are still bachelors, even though the ladies of kind are sharpening their claws for them both, considering the fact the viscountess title is not longer available. Nonetheless, neither of them seem to be interested in taking in marriage-”
‘Eloise!” Violet called upon her daughter once more
„Perhaps if they weren’t spending their times in the club, effectively convincing Anthony to go with them--”
‘Enough, young lady!”
„But-”
„Enough Eloise.”
Y/N went pale at all the words spoken. Not because of their truthfulness, but due to the fact that the word already got out. This was a calamity she was trying her best to cover up and now her favourite member of the family announced them to the world, not thinking about the possible consequences of aforementioned action.
„Y/N, are you quite all right?” Daphne was the first one to take some action „that sudden pallor cannot be good for you. Shall we take a walk?”
Naturally the little stroll around the room will be something to make her feel better. Luckily the most perceptive Eloise noticed the torpid expression on the viscountess face and, not giving her sister any chance to press the matter further, vigorously explained that Daphne certainty meant an actual promenade outside on the manor grounds and that was something y/n was more than delighted to engage in.
Presenting a perfect opportunity to actually indulge in a meaningful conversation not regarding children and submission due to a woman.
***
On the other side of the city Anthony didn’t even notice his wife’s actual absence.
How could he, when she was always present and vivid in his mind, leaving him with her image in front of his eyes even when she was away from him.
Y/N’s face and silhouette, her smile and her resonant, joyful laughter were forever carved in his mind, ever since the day she laughed at him at the lake upon their first meeting, through the first moment of stolen forbidden intimacy, up to the moment looked into her eyes while vowing to love and to cherish her.
His beautiful bride.
His beautiful wife.
Strong willed, hot headed, always having an opinion of her own and doing things her own way, capable to charm everyone with the cheerful character and most natural humor and intelligence.
All the traits that could not be bought by any of the obedient, quiet and shy ladies from high society.
All the traits that put him under her spell and made him want to spend the rest of his life with Y/n.
Only with her.
And he didn’t want to fight, he wanted the same kind of marriage his own parents were joyful to share.
It was all so perfect, until the moment those bright memories got covered with storm clouds of how he behave towards her.
Not that the viscount gave them much thoughts, too lost in his own meaningless settlements that were not due till the fore-coming month.
It was easier this way.
Forgetting about all the words he said int he moment of anger and of fear (if not mere terror) of his own emotions.
Emotions that, unfortunately, refused to be closed in a hard shell of harsh, obsessive behaviour and being ignored.
Once let out, they wanted to run free.
And oh, so they did, causing the viscount to feel dizzy and giving him palpitations.
All the marriages had their bad moments.
It was impossible to continue for years keeping the same flame that started years ago.
The wife was supposed to be obedient and comply with her husband wishes, especially not bothering him with her presence and whimsical needs or fairy-tell beliefs.
A lady was a diamond in the crown but a wife became a part of the estate, of the livestock. Forever in her husband’s hand to rule.
He was the the man.
He was the viscount and before he met her she was just another long-forgotten by admirers débutante desperate to--
No.
No this was not true and as much as it would be comfortable for Anthony to dwell in all those thoughts, his heart was still in the right place giving him a very clear signal it was time to stop justifying his previous action. Those were the foundation for a very unstable and fragile house that could be blown away easily.
Maybe it wasn’t that his emotions were too much. Maybe it was that his heart capacity was not enough to contain the amount of affection he held for his one and only.
His Y/N.
And he couldn’t have that.
He had to find her wherever she might have been.
He had to fight for her and make it all right.
Even if that meant getting back on his knees, making a scene straight out of those unrealistic romance novels ladies loved and putting it into practice.
„Where on earth is my wife?!” he yelled to the servants, opening the door to his office, his voice loud enough to make the walls shake.
I’m coming for you, my viscountess.
My love.

It's not over yet!

fuck it, gonna do it myself since the showrunners refuse to
Colin Bridgerton Background and Headcanons
+Colin was a chubby child, but became super lanky around his pre-teens, just before he went to Eton
+He would play piano with Francesca for Mum. He always wanted to play and sing for Papa, too, but Edmund was usually with Anthony and Benedict. Still, he and Fran would sit on the shorter velvet cushion so they could reach the pedals, and they would take turns singing silly made up songs, or church hymns
+Because of his age, he was always excluded from the 'Boys' club of the family. At ten years younger than his older brothers, and not an Heir OR the Spare, this is when he started getting particularly close with his sisters, El, Daph, and Fran. He and Daphne were almost inseparable growing up.
+Colin got SEVERAL makeovers from his sisters. They always said he was just as pretty as they were, and powdered him with too much blush, bribing him with extra snacks if he wore one of their dresses. He did, of course. Those Tea Parties were fancy affairs, after all. Once, Eloise tried to braid his hair for it, too, but it was just too short
+Of all his siblings, Colin is the only one Papa ever punished physically. After Colin hit Eloise and Papa saw, he horsewhipped him in the stable. Colin is a boy, soon to be a man, Papa said, he should never lay a hand on a lady, *any* lady. Colin wonders why he cannot hit a lady, but anyone can hit him. It's the start of his hero complex and his martyr streak, too. He does not matter in the scenario, others do. He can get hurt, but others cannot.
+It's not three months after Edmund dies that Colin is sent to Eton. He's the only boy in their entire family to ever go there, and the prestige of Oxford was just unnecessarily for a third son. The funds were already put aside, Colin's traveling trunk packed, and the first year paid out. He had no choice. As a lanky, scrawny, barely 5 feet tall 12 year old boy, Colin leaves everything he has ever known behind to mourn in private, on his own, far from anything familiar
+Eton has. . .to say problems would be an understatement. Colin is under the tutelage of the harshest superintendent of the century for only one year toward the end, but it is far more than enough. The treatment is horrible. (look it up, this is historically accurate!). 'Flogging Fridays' were so harrowing, the uprisings by the students ended in stalemates and fury. In that last year, Colin had long hit his growth spurt, and resented a bully deep, *deep* in his bones. In his last year at Eton, Colin broke so many windows in the uprising that for days after, he was picking glass shards out from his clothes
+His first year at Eton was hard. Colin was small and alone and had no one in his corner. He made friends with some others, but for the most part, he was an easy target for the older boys to pick on. His name couldn't shield him from that. Being so small, even when he tried to fight back, he wasn't very successful, and most times, they would report him for violence anyway, so his choices were two fold- sit down and take it, or square up
+Colin learns to box at Eton. It isn't encouraged, surely, but one of his classmates noticed how Colin was very much not having a good time and put two and two together. He was older, a bit fatherly, almost, even though he wasn't even 18, yet. It was his last year so he was less concerned with doing things as the world expected it. Colin followed him around like a little duckling. Everywhere James went, Colin went. They sat with each other to eat dinner, then would sneak off to spar and train. He was Colin's first crush. He never told anyone, but he *is* grateful
+When Colin comes home for the first time, he *knows* everything is different. There's already a rift forming. Colin becomes a haunt in the hallway, only there in the summers and for holiday breaks. Colin becomes a ghost, half seen, wandering Aubrey Hall. Mama is over the moon, of course, as over the moon she can be still deep in grief, as is Daphne, but Fran is quieter, now, and Eloise turns away from him, frustrated at his freedoms when she gets none. Anthony has no time for him, save to ask if his studies are well, and Benedict is busy taking care of the babs
+Colin's favorite place to be when he was home was with Hyacinth. He'd sneak into the nursery and gently hold her. Though there were nurses, Colin was there so often, they swore she never cried. The truth was, Hy cried often, but Colin would notice the signs and comfort her. It made him feel better, to know there was something in this world that might need him. No one else needed him. Not Mama, not his sisters, certainly not his brothers. So, he rocks the baby sister he barely knows, and he sings her lullabies, and he cries with her, sometimes, and he's just a little less alone
+He's 14 by the time he finally starts gaining height. A late bloomer, a professor or two teases. They thought it would never come, really. He'd been a been pole for as long as anyone could remember, ever since he turned 6, but all of a sudden, he looked almost skeletal. Shooting up near an entire foot was awful. For a lot of people in his life, this was the first they'd seen him be openly miserable and snappish. Sore and frustrated, Colin had the shortest fuse he'd ever had. Oh, he had a temper. Always did. But he typically knew how to reign it in. During his growing pains, it was impossible. This is the manifest of him not sharing his food- he was constantly ravenous, and lord help anyone trying to get between him and his plate
+Colin first meets Penelope when he's 16, filled out and coming into his own, an insta-crush for Penelope, but for Colin? First thing he thought after her bonnet knocked him off his horse is that she looked like a peach. All round and pink and in her yellow dress. Colin likes peaches. So Colin likes her. It was simple as that for him
+He never got into Eloise's rivalry about Penelope. Honestly, he didn't think about her very often. Penelope seemed sweet, but she was near silent. Eloise would tell him that she wasn't that way with her, as though bragging, and Colin just shrugged. He didn't have any real interest or investment in their friendship, but he did try to be polite. The one time, Penelope stood in front of him and tried to say something for an entire minute, only to squeak and thrust out a book at him, turning tail and making off. He found it surprisingly funny. She opened up to him slowly, got more comfortable in increments, but he thinks back to that moment and remembers that she's come a long way. Would be nice to see where they end up (forshadowinggggg)
+Colin doesn't like to drink. Never carried a torch for the taste, really, but other men did it, and only in drinking did they seem to have any semblance of closeness. Colin tries it for himself. It never really works out
+Charm becomes a second skin to hide himself in. Deflecting questions to other people, remembering details about them and bringing them up, asking questions and using humor. Funny how humor lands so much easier, now. At Eton, he had no protection. (No wonder he despises a bully) But now, he was grown. Now, he was a 'man'. A conventionally attractive man (he can't really deny it). He's tall and he's finally started filling out broad and big, and he uses it to his advantage. When he talks, in his mind, somewhere, he's still that 5 foot tall boy, crying in the carriage to an unfamiliar place or grinning and bearing it his first year at school. But this time, he has a cloak to wrap around himself. This time, yes, he's softhearted and tender, but he is also beautiful and knows how to focus on someone else, and he uses it to his advantage.
+Colin understands this privilege, because for a time, he knew what it was like without it. Colin sees what happens to those who do not have it, also. For Colin, charm is the sprinkle of honey over his bitter fears and concerns. For Colin, charm is the fun party hat everyone gets to see- not that he's sad, not that he's conflicted, not that he's unsure. He's pretty. That's enough for them
+But it isn't enough for HIM. Colin grapples with his purpose because the idea that he should be content to be attractive and well off and nothing else sits unpleasantly with him. Colin wants to be a self-made man, but he is denied the opportunity. So he tries to navigate the world as it is around him, having been pre-molded and determined to a certain outcome.
+So, Colin's arc is about becoming a Man, but he is not a conventional one, so he works from example. What do Men do? Colin certainly didn't have his father to inform him, so he relies on the other men around him. Well. . .Men visit brothels and have mistresses and drink whiskey and go to clubs, but Colin doesn't want to go to a brothel, and he doesn't desire a mistress, and whiskey burns when it goes down, acrid as the smoke thick and smoggy in the clubs. So. . .what else? Well, Men get married. Men take care of a family. Men are educated.
he can do THAT
+Colin attempts to marry in Season 1 not because he is fully infatuated (he likes Marina, sure, but his eagerness is not just rooted in such) but because he is attempting to find purpose. To find meaning. To be a Man, a GOOD man. And Good Men are married, so Colin will be married. Good Men take care of their family, so Colin takes care of his family, so Colin offers to BE her family. But because these are rooted in aimless endeavors (Colin wants to be A man, but not THE man he envisions for himself), they fall apart. Now, Penelope certainly has a hand in it falling to pieces, but Colin didn't really have the right motivations to start off with, so in season 2. . .
+He's depressed. It's odd to me that others would describe season 2 as an arc in which Colin is successful. The entire time, he is in a deep depression. Colin partakes in drugs, specifically to not think about the world, or to find peace and comfort. Colin claims that no one wants to hear his stories, even if he thinks he did everything right by traveling. (Remarkable. . .yes, in the sense that I have many remarks of it). Colin drinks even though he clearly hates it, gets migraines, hangovers, grimaces at the taste, because he is looking for ESCAPE
+But Colin cannot escape. Even on a different continent, even having run, there is no where to go. His escape is not from the ton, and not even necessarily from reality, but from his own insecurities. From what he feels are his inadequacies. Good Men are married, but in Colin's mind, he abandoned Marina. Good Men take care of their family, and Colin left his. Good Men are educated, and Colin is tripping on shrooms in the middle of Cyprus, looking at the stars, wondering what he's meant to do with himself. Colin's desires to escape are deeply rooted, but Colin doesn't want to escape a PLACE. He's done that for a long time. No, Colin wants to escape a PERSON. Himself. The himself he knows himself as
+So, instead, it's easier to be someone else. Himself is messy and sensitive and needs to rehearse what he says. Himself doesn't ever say the right thing (doesn't know how) and is boring to everyone else, besides. Himself is too painful, so it's easier to be Charming Colin. Helpful Colin. Colin taking down a scheme. Colin providing for others. Because he does not matter in it. They do.
+But he DOES. Season 3 sees Colin masquerading. Successfully, of course, but nonetheless. He's half settled into himself and half settled into the persona. When Penelope gives him the cold shoulder with no explanation? Persona. When Eloise avoids him? Persona. When Fran is getting trussed up like a calf for auction on the marriage mart? Persona. Colin spends so much of his life trying to be someone else
+And then he finds out Penelope is Whistledown, and the betrayal of it rips all his talent from him. He can no longer be Happy Colin, Smiling Colin, Here, I'll Help Colin- no, now he is just angry. Sad. Upset. Hurt. Conflicted. He can only be COLIN, and he does not want her to see. Does not want her to reveal it to everyone else, that the man they saw was a sham, that deep down, he is still that boy, that boy Marina said he was, that boy chasing dreams and fantasies, that boy curled up in the cupboard, sobbing about losing his dad, that empty, hollow boy, able to offer up nothing but charm
+But they will see. She will see. And he will see, too. Just who Colin really is. Just who he can be. And just how full and rich and wonderful the reality really is, mess and all

Sister or Daughter
Request: omg hear me out. I had an idea for another Bridgerton fic. it is still Anthony's daughter but with a twist. what if to avoid a scandal the family decided to tell the people that the baby was violets and Edmunds? (maybe he died a lil later?) and she grows up thinking it as well, basically violet adopts the baby, and she is raised as Anthony's sister but he is like incredibly protective of her, more than his other sisters ofc and a lot more gentle. anyways the only ones who know the truth are the bridgerton sibling except Francesca, hyacinth, and Gregory cause I feel like they were too young at the time and could have been fooled. anyways what if the truth comes to light? maybe not to the public but to yn? what if a sibling in a fit of rage says something about it to use it against Anthony and then that's how they find out and its just chaos?
Anthony Bridgerton x daughter!reader
Summary: Y/N finds out her life has been a lie.
Warnings: lying, i don't really know what to put, but it's angsty lol
a/n: thank you for the request!! sorry it took like forever to get out! hope you all enjoy!

Anthony paces outside of the drawing room nervously. He knows he has to tell his parents about the pregnancy, but his mind is going through all of the worst case scenarios. He's not sure his hands have ever been this sweaty. And it's hard to breathe.
"Anthony? Son, are you all right?" He turns to find his father in the entry of the drawing room.
"Yes. Uh, ye-- yes, father. I must talk to you and mother about something." Anthony says, putting his hands behind his back, fiddling with his fingers.
"Of course. Come in." Edmund encourages. Anthony walks in, Edmund close behind him. Edmund joins his wife on the couch, both looking at Anthony expectantly. Benedict, Daphen, Eloise, and Colin are on the other side of the room, Benedict drawing, Daphne doing embroidery, and Colin and Eloise are reading books.
"What is it, dear?" Violet sweetly asks.
"Um... well, I... uh..." Anthony takes a deep breath. "I was having relations with a woman and she is now with child." He quickly states.
Anthony's siblings all seem to choke on air at the news, staring at the eldest Bridgerton sibling with wide eyes.
"What?" Edmund asks, not certain if he actually understood his eldest.
"I... a woman is with child. My child." Anthony says. His voice shakes slightly as his nerves have rised even more.
"Oh, dear." Violet whispers, putting a hand to her head.
"Are you certain?" Edmund asks.
"Yes." Anthony nods.
"We, uh... we should go." Benedict mumbles to Colin.
"We should." Colin whispers, nodding. Yet neither of them move.
"All right, well... do you plan to be in its life?" Edmund asks. "As the father, I believe you shall be, but it is your decision."
"I... more than likely, yes." Anthony answers. He's not fully sure if he's ready to be a father and he doesn't even know how he feels about the whole situation yet, but if the child needs anything, he would be there.
"What about our reputation? This could destroy everything. The children may never marry." Violet stresses.
"We do need to figure out how to avoid a scandal. If possible." Edmund agrees.
"I understand." Anthony says.
"We could say the baby is ours. Our ninth child. That's believable. Then Anthony can be around them and... and perhaps the mother." Violet says.
"Nobody outside of this room is to know. Aside from some of the help since it will be obvious your mother isn't pregnant." Edmund says.
"We'll tell everybody I'm bedridden. The last pregnancy with Hyacinth was hard enough, it's a believable story." Violet says.
"Your other siblings cannot know. Not Francesca, Gregory, or Hyacinth. No friends, no neighbors, nobody." Edmund declares.
"I understand." Anthony nods once.
- - -
During the pregnancy with Anthony's child, the mother had moved in with the Bridgertons. But as far as the ton knew, she had left town. She never left the Bridgerton house, often alone in her temporary bedroom. After the baby was born, she was going to actually leave town.
Violet stayed in the house and the family often went to Aubrey Hall for visits so that Violet and Elizabeth, the mother of Anthony's child, could actually get fresh air. And so they were around less prying eyes.
But during one of those visits, Edmund had died of a bee sting. It sent the family down a spiral, Violet going into a depression. Anthony had to step up and take care of his siblings in the wake of his father's death, pushing his own grief aside for them.
He was handed all of the responsibilities, everything coming at him full force.
But after nine secretive, stressful, terrible nine months, the baby was finally born.
The labor took a few hours and only some of the maids were in the room with Elizabeth. After the baby was born, a maid came out of the room to where Anthony was waiting in the hallway.
Anthony looks up at the door opening, seeing the nurse walk out, a small bundle of blankets in hand.
"Here she is." The nurse softly announces, gently patting the baby's back to keep her calm.
"She? It's a girl?" Anthony asks.
"Yes, my lord." The nurse nods, a soft smile on her face. "Would you like to hold her?"
Anthony hesitates, but after a moment he nods. The nurse carefully transports the baby into Anthony's arm, the man easily finding a comfortable position to hold her in. He knows full well how to hold a baby, having many younger siblings.
Once she's in his arms, Anthony feels an overwhelming sense of love and protection come over him. Tears spring to his eyes, but he holds them back not wanting to cry in front of the maid.
"I'm sure your mother wouldn't mind you naming her." The nurse says.
"I'd have to check. Since she's a, uh... a sibling... she'd have to start with an I." Anthony says.
"I know she isn't supposed to be your child. But you should be able to name her, at the very least. I or no I. Miss Elizabeth didn't have any suggestions." The nurse states, a caring smile on her face.
"Could I be alone with her, please? The baby?" Anthony asks.
"Of course." The nurse nods before retreating back into the bedroom.
Anthony takes a deep breath, looking down at his daughter. Well, as far as most other people are concerned, his sister.
"Hello, darling." Anthony quietly greets, slowly walking to the bench in the hall. He's scared if he moves too quickly he'll drop her. Or that she'll break. "I'm sorry this is a... unique situation." He says, sitting down. He holds the baby close to him.
"Perhaps one day when you're older you'll understand. Or this will all go terribly and the family may fall apart. God, I don't know what I'm doing." Anthony mumbles to himself.
He stares down at the baby who has her eyes peacefully shut. Anthony strokes her tiny hand with his pointer finger, only stopping when the baby wraps her hand around his finger lightly.
Anthony softly smiles, looking back to her face and finding her eyes now open, matching dark brown eyes staring up into his.
"You're so beautiful, my darling." Anthony whispers. He feels the tears spring back up, a sad but loving smile on his face. "I already love you so much."
Before he can help it, a tear falls out of Anthony's eye, dropping right onto the baby's cheek. The baby starts to whine and Anthony quickly brushes the tear away.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, dear. My bad." Anthony mutters, making sure her face is completely dry. A few moments later, Y/N is calm again. "I suppose you need a name."
After thinking for a few moments, Anthony constantly rubbing his hand over the baby's head or stomach or hand or cheek, he finally comes up with something.
"How about Y/N? You like Y/N?" He asks her, earning a small babble in return. "Yes. I think it's good. Y/N Bridgerton it is, then."
Anthony places the softest kiss to her forehead, knowing he's going to do anything to make sure that she grows up happy and loved. Rather she knows she's his child or not.
- - -
The first few years of Y/N's life were a little hard for the Bridgertons. At least for Violet and Anthony. Anthony found it heartbreaking that he had to simply just watch as his daughter was raised, calling him by his name and Violet by 'mama'. He wishes he could be called 'papa' by her, but knows he can't.
Benedict spends a lot of time trying to get Anthony's mind off of the child, but even after multiple glasses of alcohol, she's still all Anthony can think about. How she can't be his and how they're lying to her every day.
He hates that most of the family is lying to her, not able to tell her the truth. No, she probably wouldn't understand it at her young age, but he still hates that they know and are not able to change anything.
Despite pretending to not be her father, Anthony couldn't help but to treat her differently from his sisters. He's more protective and fusses over her much more when she gets a scrape on the knee than if any of his sisters were to get one.
Anthony lets Y/N steal his food all the time and gives her pieces of food. Something he has never done with his sisters, unless they were upset and he was trying to cheer them up.
He does whatever Y/N asks him to.
"Why does Anthony favor Y/N?" Hyacinth once asked her two oldest sisters.
"He doesn't favor her. They simply just have a... a closer bond." Daphne tells her.
"But they're so far apart in age." Hyacinth says.
"Well, so are us and you. We get along, don't we?" Daphne asks.
"Yes. But you two don't fuss over me like he does with her. He doesn't fuss over anybody else like that but Y/N." Hyacinth says.
"Well, he had to raise her since she was born since she was born at a... a difficult time." Eloise says. "He probably just feels obligated to look after her more. He's practically her father." She says, earning an elbow to the ribs from Daphne.
"I think papa would've loved her." Hyacinth says.
"I think so, too." Daphne softly smiles at her youngest sibling who runs off to play with Gregory. Daphne turns to Eloise, a stern look on her face. ""Practically her father"? Are you mental?"
"What? He is." Eloise says.
"Yes, but nobody can know that." Daphne hisses.
"Why must we lie?" Eloise asks.
"Because of our reputation. You know having a child when not married is unacceptable." Daphne says.
"If he loved her enough, he would not care about that." Eloise says.
"You know he loves her. It was a difficult decision." Daphne says.
"It was barely his decision. Mother and father came up with it all on their own. They gave him no say." Eloise says.
"I suppose that's true. But we were sworn to secrecy and we are keeping the secret. If Anthony or mama ever decide to tell the world, or even just the others, then that's okay. But we are not going to be the ones to say anything."
"All right, all right."
- - -
"Now, what story would you like?" Anthony questions Y/N. The five year old is tucked into bed and every night Anthony reads her a story before she goes to sleep.
"Make one up." Y/N grins.
"Make one up?" Anthony repeats, Y/N nodding, a small grin on her face. "Oh, my. All right, give me a few moments."
Anthony sits on the bed, resting against the soft headboard. He puts his hand on Y/N's head, going through her hair and gently massaging her scalp. "Okay..." Anthony starts before beginning the story he was able to come up, adding things as he goes.
By the end, Anthony looks down, finding Y/N sound asleep. Anthony softly smiles, brushing some hair out of her face. He gets off the bed and leans down, kissing her forehead gently.
"Goodnight, my love." Anthony whispers.
- - -
Anthony and Daphne are arguing, against each other due to the whole Duke of Hastings relation that seems to be going on between Daphne and him.
Neither siblings notices the five year old standing outside the drawing room. Y/N had a nightmare and wanted to find one of her family members for comfort, but was distracted by the yelling between the oldest Bridgerton boy and girl.
"If anybody were to find out about you two in the garden, it would ruin this family's reputation!" Anthony shouts.
"Oh, you are one to talk!" Daphne sarcastically laughs. "If anybody were to ruin it, it would be you! You are the one to have a child out of wedlock!"
"I know what I did!" Anthony bellows. "I know what happened! And I have to live with it every day. But nobody knows about that."
"Well, they should! You choose to lie to your daughter every day of her life instead of telling her the truth! She should be able to know!"
"She's five! How would she understand?"
"She would eventually! Y/N deserves to know that you are her father and not her brother. You lie every day and we have to lie, too, and it is tiring!"
"What, you think I enjoy lying to her? You think I don't want to be the one she immediately runs to when getting hurt or-or you think I don't want to be called 'papa' instead of Anthony? But--"
"But it would ruin our reputation, yes, I know. But is that really more important than your daughter knowing the truth?"
"I'm your daughter?"
Both siblings turn to find a teary eyed Y/N in the doorway of the room. Anthony feels his heart drop and his eyes widen. Even if she were to ever find out, it should not have been this way.
Daphne's heart breaks at the sad look in her niece's eyes. She knows Y/N shouldn't have found out about her true relation to the family this way and she feels awful that she's the one who accidentally informed her.
"Y/N--" Anthony starts, beginning to go over to her, but the young girl dashes out of the room, running as quickly as she can to get away.
Anthony lets out a deep sigh, rubbing his hands over his face and through his hair.
"I'm sorry, Anthony. I-- I didn't know she was there. I wouldn't want her to find out this way." Daphne says.
"No, it... you were right. She should know. I know that. I'm the one who let the lies start in the first place. I should've told mother and father that I wanted to keep her. Actually keep her... as mine. But I went along with their plan."
"You should go talk to her." Daphne says.
"If she'll let me." Anthony scoffs. "God, what have I done?" He mutters to himself.
Anthony makes his way out of the room, going to Y/N's room. He walks in, finding Y/N, his mother, and the rest of his siblings there. They had all heard Y/N sobbing and rushed in.
Y/N managed to explain what she had heard. Violet was instantly bombarded with questions from her three youngest. The three who knew all exchanged glances, worried about what was to come, but also relieved the secret was finally out.
"Let's go, children." Violet urges.
"Will you explain everything then?" Hyacinth questions.
"Not tonight. Go back to bed." Violet orders her three youngest. She gains complaints from them, but still sends them to bed. After the three are gone, Violet shuts the door after them.
"Anthony, what happened?" Violet strictly asks.
"Daphne and I got into a fight. The truth about Y/N came out." Anthony briefly explains.
"All of you knew?" Y/N asks, looking between her siblings and mother. Well... she guesses they're her aunt, uncles, father, and grandmother. They all have guilty looks, giving the girl her answer.
"Y/N, darling..." Anthony tries.
"No! Get out!" Y/N yells. "I don't want to see any of you!"
"Y/N--"
"You've been lying! Leave!"
"Let's go." Benedict ushers his two younger siblings out.
Y/N lays on her side, her back facing the two remaining Bridgertons as she starts to cry. Her sobs break Anthony's heart, the man only wanting to scoop her into his arms and hold her tightly.
"Come along, Anthony." Violet quietly encourages. "She isn't going to talk right now."
"I'm sorry, dearest. I never wanted to lie to you. I hope one day you can forgive me." Anthony tells Y/N. He leaves the room, beelining for his office, his eyes stinging as he forces his tears to stay in.
Anthony slams the office door shut behind him, pacing the room. He slumps into his chair, burying his face in his hands. Tears stream down his face, a sob managing to escape him here and there.
Anthony pours a glass of whiskey, downing it immediately. He repeats the process, ignoring the tears.
- - -
Anthony lets out a small groan as he wakes up. His eyes squint, blinded by the sun filtering into the room. He lifts his head up, realizing he's still at his desk in his office. An empty glass is next to him, the almost empty bottle of whiskey not far away either.
Anthony groans, holding his head, grimacing at the pain.
"Oh, God." Anthony grumbles. He remembers last night's events and his heart cracks more. He doesn't know how Y/N is going to react to everything or how it's going to be different now.
Anthony sighs, knowing he has to get up, so he reluctantly leaves the office. Anthony changes into fresh clothes before going to the drawing room where he finds his entire family.
"Morning, dear." Violet greets.
"Morning." Anthony quietly says. He looks to where Y/N is sitting on one of the sofas next to Francesca, the older girl reading to her. "Morning, Y/N."
The girl doesn't pay him any attention, keeping her focus on the book Francesca has.
"She, um... she isn't talking to anybody but the youngest three." Daphne informs.
"Don't blame her. We have been lying to her face for five years." Benedict murmurs, earning smacks from his mother and older brother. "Ow."
"Y/N, may I talk to you?" Anthony asks. She still doesn't acknowledge him.
"How long do you think this will go on for?" Colin asks.
"I'd personally never talk to you lot again if you lied to me about my family." Eloise comments.
"Shut it." Daphne quietly hisses.
- - -
Two weeks later, Y/N is still pretty good at giving most of her family the cold shoulder. She'll speak to them if she absolutely has to, but it's only short answers.
The young girl is currently sitting on the swings, staring at the ground as she lightly pushes her feet, not having much enthusiasm to actually swing.
She hears a throat clear and looks up to see Anthony standing near her.
"Hi." He greets. She doesn't respond, just looking back down at the ground. "Mind if I join you?" He asks. Y/N doesn't answer.
Anthony goes to the other swing and sits down. He lightly pushes the swing back and forth, much like Y/N is doing.
"Listen, love." Anthony starts, fiddling with his hands nervously. "I am deeply... deeply sorry for us making you think you were our sibling. We should not have lied to you about how you fit into the family. It was wrong."
"Why did you do it then?" Y/N quietly asks.
"We... we had an image to uphold. And none of us really wanted to break it. We would be... our family would've been looked down on. Having a child without being married is... is wrong."
"And that's what you did?" Y/N asks.
"Yes." Anthony nods.
"So I'm a mistake?" She asks, finally looking over at him. Her eyes are glossy which breaks Anthony's heart.
"No. No, darling, not at all." Anthony states. He gets off his swing and kneels in front of her. "You are not at all a mistake. You are... you are the greatest thing to ever happen to me. And I should not have agreed to keeping the fact that you're my daughter a secret. I shouldn't have let it go this far."
"And I am still deeply sorry for that and I will forever be sorry for it. I intended to tell you one day. I did not want you to fight out the way you did. You should've been able to find out in a calmer setting."
"So are we gonna keep pretending I'm not yours?" Y/N asks.
"No. No. I've had a lot of time to think these past two weeks... and I am more than ready to reveal the truth. Keeping you hidden is not the correct thing to do and it never was. From now on, I promise to not lie to you about anything."
"You are my daughter and you always will be."
"It's going to take some time to get used to that." Y/N informs.
"I know. However long it takes, I will be there and you can get comfortable with everything at your own pace." Anthony says. "But you need to know I love you. More than anything."
"I love you, too... papa." Y/N says, making a face at the name. "It's still slightly weird." She says making Anthony lightly chuckle. "But not that weird. You are the only papa I've known anyway."
Anthony softly smiles. He leans forward and kisses her on the forehead.
He knows it would take a while for Y/N to fully accept the truth and get used to it, but he was willing to wait and provide her with unconditional love no matter what.

Ok funny idea, modern AU, the spouses are friends and are a little put off by the Bridgerton who are privileged and not understanding how privileged they.
So they pretend to date each other to fend of the Bridgerton but since they change often, people are so confused because are ALL EIGHT of them dating each other or is their cheating!?
Until one day,
Simon text the group chat to save him from Daphne…
Kate: WAIT YOU ARE CHEATING ON ME!? I LOVE YOU, HOW COULD YOU SIMON!?
Simon: Kate, no it’s not what it looks like!!
Daphne and Anthony are staring at each other in shock until Philip comes, trying to run away from Eloise.
Philip sees them and decides to make a scene and looks at Kate: Kate!? You are cheating on me with Simon!?
Kate: Uh, I can explain!
Simon: Wait what!?
Sophie then comes, trying to fend off Benedict and grabs Philip’s arm: Wait, you are cheating ON ME!? HOW!?
Benedict and Eloise look at Anthony and Daphne all confused and baffled.
Then Michael and Penelope come.
Michael looks at Sophie: YOU ARE CHEATING ON ME!?
Penelope smacking Michael’s arm: EXCUSE ME MICHAEL!? HOW COULD YOU!!
Francesca and Colin stare in bafflement.
Then Lucy and Garett come hand in hand and freeze at the other six and the six of them shouted:
Kate, Sophie, and Penelope: GARETH HOW COULD YOU!?
Simon, Philip, and Michael: LUCY WHY!?
Gregory and Hyacinth are staring at their siblings stunned.
Look at that two asks for the price of one.

Okay so clarification before I answer this ask, Yes to the first part, the second part….I'm feeling a bit awkward about this, to be honest. It's just coming across as kinda cringy, you know? Because I personally credit the Bridgerton spouses with a high degree level of intelligence, in every situation except when horniness is involved, this author has always HC that the spouses are smarter than the Bridgertons to a certain degree, and the only moments they’ve actually been more stupid than the Bridgertons has been when their horniness surpassed their common sense.
Which is why, while I do think that the Bridgerton significant others would be the type of idiots hatch a plan to pretend to date each other in order to get away from the Bridgertons, I don’t think they would get caught. What I do think is that someone in the group had too much horniness induced stupidity and actually came clean which sort of created a very funny chain reaction of miscomunication. So in this scenario here’s what I think happened.
Kate is sick of Anthony being garbage in human form with the push and pull between her and Sienna, Penelope low key thinks Colin is a jealous idiot who may result to stalking soon and destroy her secret Gossip Column when he finds out about it, Sophie is dowright ready to sue Benedict for workplace harassment because he won’t let her do her Live in nurse duties in peace, Simon is afraid to find Daphne somehow sneaking into his room one night to have babies which he’s not ready for, Michael is really trying to be a gentleman and not hook up with Francesca whenever she asks him to teach her how to be Wicked and Phillip is just a dude that can’t escape Eloise tendency to boss him around. Meanwhile Gareth and Lucy were just chillin with their respective guardians (Kate and Simon) but somehow got caught in a teenage love triangle with Hermione and Haselby. Because Gregory thinks he can steal Lucy from Haselby and Hyacinth thinks Gareth is looking too much at Hermione. Hence the plan.
So Kate and Simon of course pretend to date each other, because sure they are both athletic, hot people who like to drink posh tea, that gives Gareth and Lucy the excuse to spend time together fending off Greg and Hyacinth, because if Kate and Simon were dating then wouldn’t it be natural for their adopted siblings to also ‘fall inlove’, meanwhile Sophie and Phillip strike the most unconventional pairing ever, using the excuse that they’re both going to the same therapist and bonded over shared childhood trauma, mostly because if Penelope tried pretending to date Phillip they would be so awkwardly awful they’d get discovered in 5 seconds flat. Which leaves Penelope and Michael to ‘take their friendship’ to the next step and also pretend to date.
So Kate basically tells Anthony that oops she’s dating Simon now because, umm ahh, she’s so hot she actually extracted commitment from the Hastings manwhore extraordinaire, meanwhile Simon explains to Daphne that he’s super committed to Kate, who doesn’t…want children? Yup, that’s why he’s dating her, Kate is a modern lady who is cool with adopting teenage Lucy and Gareth and never having kids of their own. He’s a rake, who aint having kids, hence why Kate is perfect for him. Anthony of course gets very mad but can’t do anything about it, neither can Daphne who is absolutely heartbroken.
Lucy is the opposite of Simon, she then tells Gregory that she’s discovered that Gareth is the love of her life, because Gareth… is okay with her getting married to Haselby (who totally convinced his senator father that he’s going to marry Lucy once they graduate highschool because he’s very straight, so straight, really), Gareth is 100% into being Lucy’s lover when they go to college and giving her lots of babies she can pass off as Haselby’s kids, because you know he’s a stud. And her gay fiancée is totally on board, so please just go away and let Lucy have a torrid love affair with Gareth. Gareth too, tells Hyacinth that he’s having a torrid love affair with Lucy, not Hermione, because Lucy is 100% understanding of his need to marry an heiress after college and she’s not opposed to sharing him, in fact their love is so strong they’ve been together since Kate and Simon got involved and when they both get married to other people for convenience sake, they will continue their torrid love affair. See how super inlove with Lucy he is.
Phillip and Sophie meanwhile just tell Ben and Eloise that they are so inlove, nothing can break them apart, their shared trauma has created an unbreakable bond of love, but really they just use their dates to plan each other’s respective professional futures. Because Phillip is totally up for sending Sophie back to school to get her buisness degree, and Sophie is out here planning on how to grow Phillip’s alternative medicine business', encouraging him to get his masters in bothanical research, the kids too are super on board with the ‘Education is money’ plan, so these two are seriously on their path to become billionaires, and Simon is going to be their primary investor once they form an official pharmaceutical research company. Benedict who? Sophie is on her path to greatness, and Phillip and his kids are doing all they can to become the award winning academic family they know they can be.
Michael and Penelope obviously end up being the ones who have the most fun out of all the couples, going as far as getting engaged and inviting the other six to their fake engagement party. Penelope can freely claim they were friends that started seeing each other as something more and Michael is okay with hyping Penelope up as the most beautiful girl he’s ever met, so of course he proposed. She gets protection from gossip (and Protection from Colin) and Michael gets a shield against Francesca’s horny intentions with his virtue. If he gets socked in the jaw by Colin, well, that's his business' okay.
I think that they begin tripping up because the Bridgertons realize that their cover stories don’t match and begin poking holes at it. Because they’re just so jealous they can’t help it. And that’s when horniess starts overriding the spouses natural intelligence. I don’t know who trips up first, but I know that at one point, someone cornered their beloved in a library and said person threw a friend under the bus accidentally.
Maybe Kate was cornered by Anthony and lets it slip that Gareth doesn’t want to sleep with Lucy in the obsessive way Anthony wants to sleep with her (She probably saw his abs in their full glory, that poor woman, Kate.exe not found). Or Daphne catches Simon in one of his horny moments and he lets it slip that Michael has more fun taking Penelope to the theatre and the horse derby than he does when he’s doing romantic things with her, or maybe it’s Lucy, who casually mentions to the friendzoned Gregory that Kate has been her second mother since childhood and has always wanted a big family, which contradicts what Simon told Daphne, or maybe a horny unaware Michael would have told Francesca that Sophie is more interested in going back to school than in Phillip himself, so they’re unlikely to get engaged soon (This one was probably undone by a shot of Francesca’s bare ankle and I’m not even sorry for him). All I know is that it wasn’t Sophie, and it wasn’t Phillip, because those two do not confess things under pressure. But it could have been anyone that started the chain reaction of the Bridgertons thinking ‘hey maybe these people think were idiots’ and prompted them to work together and pool their one brain cell to catch their significant others in their own web of deception.
In my opinion, I don’t see the miscommunication happening in the way Anon suggested, but I do see the spouses accidentally pushing their friends under the bus when they get too horny and short circuit. And causing a very funny chain reaction of ‘I caught you in your own lie’ and ‘no, I wasn’t lying, I was just bending the truth a lot’ defensive arguments that would be extremely funny to read about.
And that’s the tea.

Hello there, I recently re-watched Bridgerton again and my hyperfixation with your aus has returned.
Remember the isekai Portia au where Spouses remembered? Whaf it Simon, instead of going to Daphne this time, proposes Kate to do the whole fake courting thing to avoid the ambitious moms? This way, he gets attention off his shoulders and Kate can rid herself of the bad reputation for being still single. They already have talked about getting married in the future if the situation arises, so it's a plus for them
What do you think the reactions would be?
Ah shit we going back to the Isekai anthology. I'm kinda excited, you never know what chaos comes.
For the spouses and their family they'll be chill about it. They're like sweet group mom and dad are getting married, or at least fake courting. We shall support you!
Portia and Mary are in their aww the babies grow up so fast stage.
Anthony and Daphne proceed to lose their shit, especially if it's the Anthony and Daphne that were isekaied from the books where the villains were actually their second love interests.
Anthony might still duel Simon this time around but this time for Kate's hand. Simon you two faced whore! Kate is supposed to be MY lover, go seduce Daphne! What kind of best friend are you stealing MY viscountess!
Daphne has come up with multiple scenarios where she could potentially be "caught" in a compromising position with Simon or throw Anthony and Kate into one. She has seen the lust in Simon's eyes when he looks at her and the lust in Kate's eyes when she allows herself a second glance at Anthony. Daphne can work with that. Anything to get them to STOP COURTING!
The other Bridgertons are taking bets on which sibling is gonna do what and how dumb are they gonna be about it. They may also start keeping a closer eye on their own lover interests. Can't have a repeat of this can they?
One of the downsides for the spouses group though is that Simon and Gareth can't stay over as much because they have to keep up the image that nothing scandalous is going on in the house. Another downside is that Anthony Bridgerton calls every freaking day now too, often bringing Daphne with him. Why is he here? Edwina is not out in society yet, they thought they would have more time before he started showing up in their house.

Friends ask 😂 as I’m at the Barbados episodes with Monica and Mike playing Ping Pong and I’m wondering if this happens anywhere in the friends Au?
I know Kate and Anthony are both competitive monsters so it couldn’t really be them but I was thinking maybe Benedict and Sophie but with Benedict sort of being Monica (if even add in the mad hair as well) in the game and Sophie taking over hiding her talent for the game, bit like Chandler does but I was interested in how it would play out
When your muse inspires you anyway 🧡
I've thought about the ping pong storyline before but for the longest time I've never been able to settle on which couple would be Mondler in the scenario.
As you mentioned Kanthony are a competitive force to be reckoned with so it wouldn't be them, but with all the other couples I've been back and forth in deciding who would be Monica and Chandler - however, I think I'm leaning more towards Daphne and Simon.
Based purely on the fact that Daphne is the second most competitive sibling when it comes to Pall Mall, I can see her taking a ping pong game far too seriously and feeling crestfallen when she bangs her wrist and can't play any more; only for Simon to chivalrously step in for her and astound his wife by revealing his hidden talent and thrashing their opponent.
"Oh my god! I thought you sucked at sports!" Daphne gasped.
"I don't suck at sports." Simon scoffed. "And I've always been great at ping pong."
"How did I never know this?"
"I guess I just didn't want you to know how good I was."
"Why?"
"I don't know." Simon shrugged.
"Well this is so great! Oh my god! We could buy a ping pong table and invite Kate and Anthony round and play them every week!"
"That's why!" Simon snapped a finger immediately, his wife's response instantaneously making him remember the reason why he always played down his athletic prowess.
(And as for the matter of the mad hair Monica suffers from in those episodes, I'm thinking on a big family holiday to Barbados that all of the Bridgertons' hair frizzes up inexplicably because of the humidity, much to the continued disbelief of their spouses.)

Can I request the fall scenario theme of 13. Costume party with prompt 28. "Are you blushing?" / "I'm just cold” for Benedict Bridgerton please? Thank you in advance
A/N: This is quite cute! Thanks for the request, anon! I'm going to have this be a modern AU
Music of the Night
Summary: Halloween parties at the Bridgerton household were always the talk of the town, and dating one of the Bridgerton Boys brings a pinch too much pressure for you.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Just some cute fluff
Tumblr media
"Babe, if we don't go out the door in the next 5 minutes, we're going to be late and my mom will never let me forget it for the next month!"
"And you think that's going to make me go faster?!"
Benedict rolled his eyes as he checked his phone one more time, seeing the seconds roll by as he was pacing in front of his shared bedroom with you. He knew the traffic was going to be a bit crazy this time of night, and the Bridgerton Halloween Party was the highlight of the year amongst the elite in the City. It wasn't that he felt pressure before when it came to going to any of the parties his family threw, they were all fun and he had a great time.
This time though, you were coming as his official date, and as his girlfriend.
The only ones who knew about you two dating was Eloise, Anthony and Anthony's new wife Kate. Benedict tried to keep your relationship under wraps for as long as possible, but Eloise stumbled on the pair of you kissing intensely right outside his apartment door when she came for a sporadic visit. Anthony and Kate right after when Kate caught you two holding hands as the four of you were going through a local farmer's market.
Of course, the three of them swore to keep your relationship a secret and not say a word to anyone, including his mother and the matriarch of the well known Bridgerton Clan. She was a kind woman, knowing far and wide as a reasonable mother who kept her children in check and the Bridgerton image positive. Other mothers would talk and try to match their daughters with her sons, or their sons with her daughter.
But his mother knew deep down her children would follow their hearts and instincts over titles and reputation. It worked with Daphne, landed one of the hottest and well known bachelors and being married within the year. It worked with Anthony and Kate, both of them defied the odds and different titles from their reposted families.
So Benedict figured the Halloween party that was held at the family Lake House would be the best time for you two to be official in the public. It was going to make waves for certain, and with the enthusiasm and support from Eloise, Anthony, and Kate, you felt as though you could do it. But you couldn't help but compare yourself to the other couples in the family and how they were a matched made in heaven.
Was it going to be the same for you and Benedict?
"Alright, I'm coming out," You huffed, taking in a shallow breath since you were just as nervous as he was. He loved his family, spoke highly and greatly about each of his siblings and his mother. You are excited to meet his mother and younger siblings, but you were also worried that you weren't going to be up to the "Standards" that seemed to be there. Sure, there was no bar to jump over and no standard that needed to be met since his family was well known to be kind, generous, and very charitable amongst the wealthy society life.
You threw open the door, Benedict seeing your costume and having a wide grin on his face. You opted to wear a Christine costume from The Phantom Of The Opera with a Crimson dress and light makeup, along with a prop red rose and a black ribbon tied on the steam. You saw his eyes go over your dress, the curls in your hair that was draped over your shoulder, and the elegant jewelry that Benedict gave you for your birthday one month ago.
"Wow," He said in breath, his grin never leaving his face and the spark of light was seen in his eyes and cheeks, "You look...beyond beautiful,"
"You think so?" You asked him, looking down at you dress again and making sure it looked right.
"Of course! I think you'll be the best dressed there," He explained, you grinned widely as you drank in what he was wearing. His black tux with tails, the smoothness of his white shirt underneath and the cuffs that glistened in the light of your bedroom. You moved easily, reaching up to tuck in his collar that was poking out.
"And you are beyond handsome as my Phantom," You complimented, seeing his grin soften a bit as a flash of color was evident on his cheeks. You couldn't help but giggle, pointing to his cheeks with your manicured nail, "Why Benedict Bridgerton, Are you blushing?"
"N-No, of course not!" Benedict reasoned in a stammer, clearing his throat as he shook his head, "I'm just cold,"
"Right..." you commented, clearly seeing that he was deflecting that you called him out. Benedict was coy to say the least, never letting one moment slide to tell you how beautiful you were of how your smile lit up the room. But if you tried to give him a compliment, it was such a sight to see him try to tip toe around it.
He knew you meant well when you called him sweet or handsome, but he would rather use his words on your than the other way around. He could say the sweetest words to you to lift your spirit or make you blush crimson, or the right sentences to heal you through heartache or a stressful day. Benedict loved using his words to make you smile, to make your soul lighter, and to express his love for you.
In return, you were good with your gestures. Taking his hand in the moments when he felt over his head, rubbing his shoulders and neck when he was nose deep in a textbook while he was finishing his Art Degree, or sneaking a kiss along his cheek when he wasn't expecting it. You were his first serious girlfriend, the others were very short and almost flings. But you shook his world to the core, making him more than afraid to let you go when he found himself in love with you and the feisty spirit you had that matched his aloofness.
You two were a pair, the best pair that would last forever.
"Shall we?" You asked in your mocked British accent, grabbing your cloak to throw on over your shoulders and then your clutch and seeing him chuckle as he took your arm in his.
"I believe so. Come darling, let us take haste!" he replied in his fake Phantom accent, you giggled as you both headed out the door. The butterflies in your stomach were evident from the thought of being introduced as not just as date but his boyfriend, but Benedict on your arm was soothing and making the night less stressful.
The End

There’s a lot of discourse about how Lady Danbury didn’t step in to fix the situation before the wedding, why she would walk back her belief that love conquers all with Kate and Anthony when she so fervently believed that for Daphne and Simon.
And I think we may be misremembering Season 1. Danbury does not fix things FOR people she gives the opportunity to fix it for themselves. That is book consistent as well. She may create scenarios to nudge two people together. But she makes it a point to be sure that the last part the parties involved do themselves.
She actually deals with Kate and Simon the same way:
This is Lady Danbury’s speech to Simon right before he pushes Daphne away. And remember she is already aware of Simon and Daphne’s feelings here
LD: I demand to know. Is all this time you are spending with Miss Bridgerton leading anywhere?
S: Could it not merely be time well spent?
LD: A prolonged courtship is one thing, but now it is very clear to anyone with eyes that Daphne Bridgerton has caught the attention of Prince Friedrich. If you have designs upon the girl and wish to marry her, then Friedrich can disappear, for all I care, and become a delicious dinner party anecdote. But if you are merely dallying with her, and if she loses her chance of such an extraordinary match, simply because she is too wrapped up in your charms…well, then…she would be a fool.
And I would never forgive you your carelessness
S: Miss Bridgerton is far from a fool.
LD: Then you are just being cruel, and we both know I taught you better than that.
And compare that to Lady Danbury’s speech to Kate and remember Danbury knows. And Kate knows she know but because Kate isn’t ready to talk about it-the conversation is had as a conversation about the “inheritance” and Kate’s “dislike” of the viscount. However the acting of both actresses clearly says that this is a thinly veiled metaphor:
LD: Have you yet told your sister?
[Kate is surprised Danbury is not]
…about the inheritance scheme
K: I have not.
LD: Mmm.
K: At this point, I fear there is no point in telling her. Lady Danbury, I fear there may be no proposal from the viscount. I fear I have ruined it for Edwina.
LD:Because you two cannot get along?
K:Yes.
LD:And why, when you are so close to getting what you want, what you need for your family's survival, and what Edwina so clearly wants for herself, are you getting in the way?
K: I do not know. I do not know what to do.
LD:There is only one thing to do. Be honest with your sister, with yourself. You must tell her how you feel.
K: About my dislike for the viscount?
LD: About whatever it is you feel.
In both instances Lady Danbury essentially says piss or get off the pot. Make a choice that suits you and all parties involved. Stop playing this game. Because you’re not fooling anyone. And curiously both Simon and Kate respond the same way. Simon tells Daphne the scheme is off she has caught a Prince. And Kate steps aside for Edwina and Anthony.
The only difference is that when Simon and Daphne are being scandalous in dark corners when they shouldn’t be—Anthony catches them. But no one catches Kate and Anthony after the Sharma dinner.
Blaming Danbury, saying that she should have gone to Violet ect absolves the two people that actually created this problem which is Kate and Anthony. Could Violet and Danbury have maneuvered Kate and Anthony together? Sure. But neither of them showed any desire to act on their feelings and so there’s not really anything anyone can do. Kate and Anthony are adults. Their moms and sort of moms cannot force a relationship on to them.
ironically this is what Anthony and Kate do to Daphne and Edwina respectively because they struggle to see them as more than the children they used to have to care for

Calling Dr. Bridgerton...Which One?
At the hospital, Dr. Edmund Bridgerton is chief of surgery and runs an elite surgical program. The Bridgertons have had long ties to the hospital that can be traced from as far back as the 19th century. While visiting Aubrey Hall one may be confused by how many Bridgertons there are… OR A Grey's Anatomy AU
Aubrey Hall Hospital is one of London’s most exciting hospitals to work at, with its level three trauma center and world class doctors it is a place that regularly saves lives. If one should find themselves in a life threatening scenario, you should hope that the ambulance brings you to Aubrey Hall.
At the hospital, Dr. Edmund Bridgerton is chief of surgery and runs an elite surgical program. The Bridgertons have had long ties to the hospital that can be traced from as far back as the 19th century. While visiting Aubrey Hall one may be confused by how many Bridgertons there are…
As previously mentioned Edmund Bridgerton, is not only the chief of surgery but also chief of general surgery. He is a kind man with good morals, but don’t let his friendly demeanor fool you. He is quite hardcore with a scalpel in his hand.
Married to the chief is Dr. Violet Bridgerton. While not a surgeon, Violet is a Pediatrician. The two met during Edmund’s residency when he was passed out on a gurney during a most horrid night shift. She gave him a banana and water, and the two chatted for hours until Edmund’s pager went off. She has one of the gentlest souls and you will always have your child in good hands when visiting Dr. Bridgerton.
The two also have a large brood of children that all coincidentally have an interest in healthcare. From eldest to youngest there is Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. Currently working at the hospital are the eldest four Bridgerton children, the younger half are still in school. Eloise and Francesca are in medical school, while Gregory and Hyacinth are at university.

This is how I would condense the siblings in the Bridgerton books, by the way:
The first book is the Anthony book, and it’s not that different from The Viscount Who Loved Me. He got on my nerves real bad in the book, but I can’t deny that the romance has juice. Nothing like a man who sucks on his crush’s titty because he has baggage from his dad’s untimely death by bee sting. Kate is also one of Julia Quinn’s better heroines, IMO.
The second book is the older sister book. I think she should be younger than Anthony but older than the other siblings. Let’s call her Beatrice. She’s the relatively sedate daughter of the family, like Daphne and Francesca, and I think she should get Francesca’s plot, because When He Was Wicked is a Quinn novel of quality. She’s a widow guiltily falling in love with her late husband’s best friend/heir, who’s also struggling with survivor’s guilt. And malaria. So sad!!!
The third book is the Benedict-Colin hybrid book, or really the Colin book but make him a little weird like Benedict because it’s sexy. It’s basically Romancing Mister Bridgerton but the hero has a little more swag. Penelope is here! And of course their whole deal has been foreshadowed in previous books.
The fourth book is the younger sister book, chiefly the Eloise book. For alphabetical reasons, she is confusingly named Daphne. She’s best friends with Penelope and bummed that Penelope got married without her, because that was an interesting dynamic. However, I don’t want her anywhere near Sir Philip. I do not like that dude. Instead, she gets paired up with the Simon equivalent, in a juiced-up version of the light fake-dating scenario at the beginning of The Duke and I. I think it would be a good idea to have the action set at a lively house party where other chaotic plot stuff is going on, rather than in town again.
The last book is for the baby sibling (Gregory-Hyacinth). This is the zany book. I don’t care what gender the baby sibling is, but they should be a confident dumbass (affectionate) whose love interest is a damsel in distress of whatever gender. This is the An Offer from a Gentleman/It’s in His Kiss/On the Way to the Wedding equivalent, and honestly I think you could mash them all together and it would be fun. You can put in the nice moments with Violet from Hyacinth’s book, too.

❝ I must say, you have made the right choice in wife, brother. ❞  How different this year’s pall mall is. She doesn’t wish to speak ill of anyone but Miss Edwina would’ve been miserable if she were made to spend all her time with the Bridgertons. This way she is free to come and go at will and only spend enough time with them to visit her sister. Seems like the ideal scenario for Francesca.
❝ The Viscountess seems to fit in perfectly with the rest of the family, I’m afraid Daphne shall have some competition. ❞  And it does make Francesca happy, to see all of them happily playing pall mall as she sits with her tea, to see Anthony happy. It feels like such a rare sight. Anthony who she always thinks of as concerned, always having some place to be. Kate seems to bring out something different in him.

finished s1 of bton so i have many thoughts !!!!!
sighs so hard bc i loved simon & daphne before they got married…. i was so into them & the pining, the fake dating trope. like AHHH so good. but then…. episode 6 came. & obviously we don’t support what daphne did. like no, i will never ever be okay with that scene or scenario. & i get that it’s “ different times ” & i know she wanted to see how he’d react & to catch him in his lie. which they could’ve had her do any other way ???? like anything else. husband or not, what she did was so wrong & so fucking icky. made my skin crawl. so now i’m ???????? you know… that makes no sense but i’m just ugh. they have good chem & they were a good couple but that scene was so bad like that’s not how you confront your husband !!!!!! it just makes me sad. like i was kicking my feet, so in awe of them & sooooo rooting for them but she ruined it :( & was still angry at him for lying but ms. girl what you did was WAY worse. i don’t support her actions at ALL but as a character i liked her otherwise :/ ( it’s okay to like a character and not support them !!!! or their actions from something they did !!! i wasn’t gonna add this bc i don’t wanna be judged but im saying it !!!! ) anyways i still love simon and would risk my life for him thank you !!!!!! i have so many more thoughts about them but my brain is still spinning about it all
THE LADY WHISTLEDOWN REVEAL…. THE WAY I GASPED. i was not expecting it to be penelope at ALL. like i was a little sus when she exposed marina but i was like nah it can’t be pen… like someone else had to know, you know? and then it was revealed & wow just… damn….
colin is my favorite bridgerton, i love him with my whole entire heart. he’s just a sweet little himbo & i want to kiss his head. & i know him and pen have smth s2, which i’m excited to see 🫢 also eloise is a close second for my fave bridgerton, she’s who i wish i was :’) anthony i’m squinting at….. i like him but i hate him at the same time. i hope he develops in s2 !!!!
siena, my BELOVED. i loved siena, she deserved so much more screentime and so much more in general & i just love her and the little mole on her beautiful face
marina i was indifferent about bc i’m penelope’s number one protecter but she too deserved more than what was given to her and i’m so sad sir george died bc she deserved that happy ending :(
in conclusion, i’m not usually one for period pieces & i was refusing to watch this show bc i thought it was over hyped but damn it’s actually pretty fucking good phew… also i’m considering adding simon, siena, colin, eloise & maybe pen to my muse list… also maybe daphne but i’d absolutely cut out the scene in ep 6 like no ✋🏻
simon basset duke of hastings i want you so bad it makes me look STUPID like… i’m rattling my fucking CAGE for you

Hi there, long time, first time
My favourite AU of yours is Phillip is Hot and clueless about his effect on women.
You wrote that not only would he not notice women flirting with him at Ton events.( but Eloise does.)
You also wrote about Eloise being turned on by Philip doing manual labour. Phillip is again oblivious because he is focused on his work.
Would Eloise pounce on him I'm either scenario? Would they "walk through the Garden together"?
(Imagine them returning to the ball with twigs an' shit in their hair)
Oh she pounces on him alright. And look, the guy never stood a chance. He spent his teens holed up in Cambridge and then just as he's old enough to date, he had to get married to his brother's fiancee.
If Phillip had been given a chance to cruise trough London for a season or two, maybe he would have found out that he's actually very attractive, since the men at white's would point out the obvious anytime a debutante blushed around him, but no. He's too much of an introvert for that. So he stayed home, answered letters and somehow bagged Eloise Bridgerton. Who is, not only incredibly pretty, she's also smart and a complete extrovert. Homeboy lives to count his lucky stars.
And also yeah, Eloise has a lumberjack kink, the whole working with his hands really turns her on. Probably because none of the London pretty boys do it. Phillip doesn't actually do manual labor, but he does work with plants and soil on everyday basis and that's good enough for Eloise. Most days He's in the greenhouse with his shirt off, sweaty from potting peas all day and all Eloise can think about is how to get his pants off.
The thing about London is that older Eloise IS an extrovert, there's a reason she didn't stop attending balls after her 4th season. When her mother isn't pushing her to find a husband, book Eloise actually enjoys socializing and going to London for the season is a normal thing for her. You would think she'd like the season more now that she's married.
But now there's another problem. Which is coincidentally the same problem Colin has too: she's married to a hot person, worse, a hot person that doesn't know they're hot.
And Eloise knows she's screwed, because she's not a liberal like Francesca who is okay with her hot husband flashing smiles that make garters drop left and right. Or a seasoned general like Daphne who's social pull is intimidating enough for girls to automatically avoid her hot husband. No, Eloise is a territorial dragon who does not like other girls flirting with her clueless plant daddy.
So yeah, she does tend to drag him to the gardens during balls, not for his benefit of course, but rather to reinforce that inlove look in Phillip's face and remind everyone else that he is HERS. So back off floozys!! Twigs? What twigs? Her husband is a bothanist she was obviously helping him inspect the flora of the gardens, that's what happened. And even if it hadn't, they're married. And she's within her rights to do whatever she wants with her husband.
Not that Phillip is complaining about their garden trysts. He just doesn't understand why Eloise seems to get much more irritable whenever he tries making friends in balls. And nobody is willing to explain it to him
That's the tea

Okay, my niece was watching this show called Ladybug and explained to me the plot of the show and suddenly, it came to me, why not Polin this?
Okay, let's put it in context, we start with Penelope once again feeling alone and a little humiliated for spending most of the night alone, with no one to ask her for a dance and with no chance of getting any suitor. As well as wearing a hideous yellow dress.
(I'm probably going to start creating a long scenario here, gosh, that's going to take a while.)
Feeling that she could no longer breathe in the sweltering room, Penelope headed upstairs, away from the ballroom and all its imperfections.
Reaching the balcony of one of the rooms, Penelope was finally able to breathe properly. She couldn't help but notice how this was becoming a pattern at every ball she attended. Everything was starting to get too suffocating and like a coward, she ran away, again and again.
Sighing, Penelope gave up trying to have a positive line of thought, since by the looks of it, today would be the day of bad thoughts. She should probably head back to the ballroom, after all, she needed content for Lady Whistledown tomorrow anyway.
But before she could move towards the balcony exit, a pained groan was heard from her side. Cautiously turning to the side, she saw a small kitten on the floor, all dirty and bruised. The poor little animal groaned and groaned in pain, its cries so miserable it made Penelope's eyes water. Walking towards him, Penelope knelt beside him, assessing the situation of the little being, who seemed to have sensed her presence, since he started meowing more miserably than before.
Carefully, Penelope held its head up to make the cat's breathing easier, and soon after she took a handkerchief hidden in one of the pockets of her skirt, gently cleaning the cat's injured areas.
Smiling at the kitten, Penelope could see they were just scratches, ones he probably got after fighting with another cat. The kitten meowed contentedly, happy to be being petted by the pretty lady.
“Admirable, truly admirable Lady Featherington.” Lady Danbury's voice had been heard behind her, making her nearly jump at the sudden noise.
(Also, just a side note, Lady Danbury and Penelope didn't know each other yet, aside from Lady Whistledown, okay? Okay.) - (Side note two, it's a wlw Polin scenario, because I want to see Coillen in leather and cat ears, and also because I said so.)
“Lady Danbury!” Penelope was quick to greet her, quickly getting on her feet with the kitten in her arms.
“Now, you needn't worry about greetings, Lady Featherington.” Lady Danbury assured her, sounding authoritative yet somehow gentle.
What followed next was the most awkward conversation Penelope had ever had, where Lady Danbury seemed to be amused at the expense of her desperation not to do the wrong thing in her presence.
But she managed to get out of that conversation with her dignity intact when her mother decided to show up and drag her back to the ballroom.
Across the room, next to her sister, Daphne, who was showering her with hugs and praise for finally admitting to herself that she liked Penelope, was Coillen Bridgerton, sulking for the exactly same reason listed above.
Well, you can't exactly blame her for being a little frustrated about it. First, she couldn't keep Penelope as a wife, because society was a bitch. Second, she wasn't even sure if Penelope felt the same way, or if she even considered the possibility, of the two of them together in a relationship. And third, Daphne couldn't stop being smug about it. Seriously, check out the dialogue below and understand the third reason for Coillen's frustrations.
“I knew that at some point, you would get your little mind out of the valley of density and realize this, really!” She sang excitedly, but Coillen could see the smugness in every word.
“I will admit that there were times when even I doubted your ability to see through your own feelings, but you eventually got there!” And the horror show continues.
“Thank you, dear sister, it has been a long journey to finally realize this, and I wish the same for you, that you come out of the valley of density and finally realize your own feelings!” Turning her words back on her, Coillen smiled grimly as Daphne's cheeks flushed, then turned completely red when Coillen added, “the Duke of Hastings has just arrived by the way, you should go visit him in the valley of density too, ya'know?” Turning to leave, Coillen smiled even wider when Simon appeared behind her sister, almost making her jump at his sudden presence, as soon after, they said something and then went to the dance floor.
Turning to go down one of the corridors and perhaps find one of her brothers, Coillen almost screams when she sees an elderly man lying on the ground with a cane not too far from her, motionless.
Kneeling beside him quickly, Coillen almost screams again when the old man opens his eyes suddenly and grips her arm tightly.
Just as she was about to use the cane to do a number on him, he let go of her and tried to get up, but his weak arms made him fall flat on his face. Looking worriedly at the elderly gentleman who looked like he was about to have a heart attack, Coillen calmly helped the man to his feet again, handing him his cane, which he immediately used for support.
Smiling at the young lady, the lord thanked her and then made his way back to the ballroom, leaving her alone in the hallway. Sighing, Coillen returns to the ballroom as well, finding Benedict immediately, and soon the two were in a carriage heading towards Bridgerton Manor.
But when Coillen arrived in her room, an oddly shaped box was waiting for her on her bed, causing her to raise an eyebrow. It wasn't her birthday, of that she was sure, so what was it? Approaching the box, Coillen carefully opened it, peering closely at the box's carefully puzzled design.
But she didn't have much time to study the rustic looking design of the box, because soon after, a bright white light came out of the box, making her close her eyes tightly so that the light wouldn't demage her eyes.
“Ayo, do you have cheese? It's been so long I'm in that box I'm starving!" A rather irritating voice sounded in her ears all of a sudden, making her open her eyes and find what appeared to be a cat, but with a somewhat humanoid body and too small to be one. On the other hand, his head was quite large. And the thing floated. Come to think of it, it looks like a rat.
She would have screamed if not for the pillow that had been thrown in her face when floating rat began to explore her room, looking for cheese.
“Now what the fuck are you?” Coillen managed to ask as she held up the pillow like a shield, eyeing the mouse warily.
“I am a kwami.” replied the floating mouse, as if that made a lot of sense and was the answer to everything.
And from there, Coillen's strangest conversation of the night ensued. On the other hand, at the house not that far from the Bridgertons, Penelope was currently throwing everything she could at the direction of weird looking bug.
Later on, two heroes appeared, Lady Noir and Ladybug, who fought valiantly against villains created by another villain, while flirting shamelessly with each other.
It also takes the two idiots longer to confess, since they've pulled a Benedict and fallen in love with each other's personas. Chaos, lots of chaos, just the way I like it.
I probably should have cast Sophie as Ladybug and Benedict as Chat Noir because honestly, that's literally the plot of their book. Penelope would probably be better off as Rena Rouge, with the illusions and everything. And Colin as Carapace, because of that man's stiff head. Or woman if we consider this au, lmao.
Either way, superhero version Polin is going to completely consume my brain, and I hope to pull you along with me. Cuz that was beatiful. Yeah, I'm leaving now, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, bye~
Me: *reads Ladybug and nothing else* Oh no, the love square. (Derogatory)
This show is a telenovela for kids and has been haunting me since 2015. It's like a train wreck you can't look away. I'm still waiting on these ahole creators to finally do a proper reveal where they don't forget.
But in all seriousness, this could be a cute idea. A regency era Ladybug and Chat Noir, or Lady Noir if we're going with Colleen. To be realistic Regency era Ladybug and Lady Noir would probably be thrown into a style that fits the time period, as we seen in the show but it would be cute imaging a Ladybug kicking villains' butts in an empire dress while Lady Noir has a top hat with cat ears.
Also, there's enough kwamis that we can cover all the siblings and spouses. Imagine that chaso. Someone should check on Violet in this au too, and make sure there's nothing in Aubrey Hall's basment.
