When people say all the conflicts and genocides are connected it's really not an exaggeration. The more I read about one is the more I've learned about others and the people in power play in our faces.
From the article -
The Biden administration recently re-imposed sanctions on Israeli businessman Dan Gertler over alleged massive corruption in the Democratic Republic of Congo's lucrative mining business. Journalist Franz Wild reports on his remarkable rise, and his alliance with former President Joseph Kabila which even saw him being appointed a Congolese diplomat.

Considered the richest or one of the richest men in Israel, Dan Gertler’s empire has been built off Congolese natural resources and like Leopold, leaving many dead bodies in his wake.  With monopolistic rights over almost all the mining sites in the Democratic Republic Congo, Gertler is the absolute embodiment of the colonialism of the so-called free-markets – that were ushered in by structural adjustment. Gertler enjoys near-monopoly rights in Congo’s diamond, copper, cobalt and gold trade, which he attained only dubiously. Recently, western media was awash with his corruption scandals, in which he allegedly gave out $100m of bribes to acquire this monopoly status. Interestingly, the script involves direct voices and footprints of the American presidents from George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and now Joseph Biden. Sadly, not narrativized as colonialism, but in the beautiful language as a contention over a “trading licence.” The state of Israel appears only on the side-lines. But why would the story of a single businessman – interacting in a free market economy – directly implicate presidents and states? Because there are no businessmen of this size without the violence of their states. These license scandals notwithstanding, in 2020, Bloomberg reported that Gertler would be getting richer over his Congolese possessions after entering trade agreements with Tesla’s Elon Musk.

If you lived in the 1820s and 1830s, would you protest indigenous displacement? Would you countenance the destruction of entire family lines? Would you justify children dying as they walked hundreds of miles to Oklahoma, a territory the Choctaw renamed — Oklahoma is Choctaw for “land of the courageous” — in an attempt to maintain their dignity? Would you call them “barbarians” to ease your guilt? Would you buy into the myth of the “Vanishing Indian”, and pretend their extinction was preordained? Would you lie and claim the land was empty when the colonizers arrived? *          *          * You might know the answers to those questions based on how you respond to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. After obliterating northern Gaza, Israel forced surviving residents to walk south in scenes reminiscent of the Trail of Tears: “We walked with thousands of other civilians. I even saw a hospital bed being pushed along the way,” wrote Palestinian journalist Hind Khoudary. “Children, people in wheelchairs, the elderly, babies — everyone was carrying their backpacks, pillows, and mats… Together, we walked. I studied the looks on people’s faces. Terrified, they were holding white flags…People crying, angry, sad, eyes filled with fear. My emotions were blocked. All I could think was that I do not want to leave, that it was wrong to leave, that I must not leave.” As of January 2024, the Palestinian civilian death toll is now over 23,000, including over 10,000 children. Israel promised Palestinians that southern Gaza would be safe, then bombed them as they arrived. Palestinians are now being told to go to Egypt, unless they are first deported to the Congo, where they would work in brutal conditions in mines owed by Israeli plutocrats like Dan Gertler. They are told Gaza will be taken over by Israel and turned into settlements under which their murdered countrymen will lie. Those are Israel’s plans. They are of a nature so horrific they sound like something out of another century — the 1830s, perhaps. But “settler-colonialism” is just a trendy new phrase, I’ve been told. I wonder if the objection to accurate Black and Native American history — what political operatives label “critical race theory” as they censor this history in schools — has as much to do with curtailing understanding of current events as it does with past travesties. Political operatives do not want students to know about any indigenous struggles, foreign or domestic, particularly in countries like Israel closely tied to the US. Parallels between Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and early America’s treatment of indigenous peoples are stark. Once you know the twin histories, you cannot unsee it.

Need someone on here with the ability to add community notes to get on this. Dan Gertler (they got his name wrong) is not associated with bulgari in any way (I did a deep dive and couldn’t find any connections) and now people are calling her a Zionist. The blood diamond stuff is fair but they should at least be accurate
i hope they can clear this up it sucks that she's getting dragged for something she probably wasn't aware of and would drop them in a heartbeat if it turns out to be true

ZIONISTS IN HAITI & AFRICA!
Zionism, a political ideology that many say has hijacked Judaism to pursue settler-colonialism in occupied Palestine, does not end at the borders of the state of Israel. Zionist businessmen Gilbert Bigio and Dan Gertler cast a shadow over the economies of Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and occupied Palestine.
Bigio’s business in Haiti, the GB Group, has been involved in ‘infrastructure development’ projects, telecommunications services, oil and gas, and real estate ventures. That has raised questions about Zionist interests in a predominantly African country struggling to overcome the legacies of colonialism and foreign intervention. Bigio, born in 1935 to a Sephardic Jewish family in what is now Syria, is considered a de facto leader of Haiti’s Jewish community and is an honorary consul to Israel. Like many other Zionists, Bigio is reportedly not religious but participates in Jewish cultural activities.
Similarly, human rights activists have criticised Gertler for disregarding environmental and human rights standards as he does business in the DRC. The United States imposed sanctions on Gertler in 2017 for human rights abuses and corruption. However, Israeli financial media outlet @TheMarker claims to have a recent recording of Gertler admitting he skirted those sanctions to pursue a $1.5 billion mine in the DRC. Gertler was born in 1973 in Tel Aviv, learned the diamond trade through his father and grandfather, and started a diamond business after completing mandatory military service.
Since the late 1800s, foreign forces have collaborated with Congolese leaders to exploit the heart of Africa, worsening existing socio-economic disparities and fueling violence. More than 7 million people are internally displaced in the DRC while conflict rages in the country’s eastern provinces.
In this video, TikTok creators iamlaurachung (of @theslowfactory) and @kevin.ug make the connection between Zionist entrepreneurs like Bigio and Gertler and our liberation struggle.

Israeli diamond dealing and mining tycoon billionaire Dan Gertler is largely responsible for the child slavery in Congo. He has been sanctioned since 2017 for serious human rights abuses and corruption that was enabled by his close friendship with disgraced former DRC president Joseph Kabila. Gertler has received support from the former director of Mossad, i$r@3l’s foreign-intelligence agency, who went to Congo three different in 2019 on his behalf. But now genocide Joe is considering dropping these sanctions so Gertler can continue to profit alongside South African apartheid king Elon Musk in a new deal for batteries for electric vehicles.

while apple is the biggest and most well known company name that can be named when discussing this topic, it's important to understand that cobalt can be found in most cell phones, laptops and electric vehicles. not only that but also in cosmetics and make-up, hair dyeing, and tattoos, in clothes coloured in blue (or in some greens), in antiperspirants, in dental or orthopaedic prostheses, in detergents, washing powders and more. it's a BIG problem. this is a HUGE issue. breaks my fucking heart!!

From CableTV .com Aug 29, 2023 AMC SHOWS WILL STREAM ON MAX: WHICH SHOWS AND FOR HOW LONG? By Alex Kerai
The CableTV.com Take
Seven shows from AMC Networks will start streaming on Max in September, adding over 200 episodes to the streamer’s content library.
The move comes as Max tries to boost its offerings with new content hubs to retain subscribers and bring cord-cutters into the fold.
We don’t know why the AMC shows are coming to Max, but it’s not the first time a studio has sent its content to a rival streaming service.
AMC Networks is sending seven original shows to Max in September. The shows will be part of the new AMC Plus pop-up collection on Max. The AMC Plus collection is the second content update Max is making in September; the streamer will also be adding a CNN On Max hub, including exclusive content and a 24/7 live news feed. Max is also making a play for live sports and plans to add a sports tier this fall. The streamer hopes to add MLB playoffs first, followed by NBA, NHL, and NCAA games. Dan McDermott, president of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said the partnership allows them to “serve up some of our most popular and critically acclaimed programming to millions of Max subscribers in the U.S. for two full months.”
Which shows are coming to Max?
Seven shows will be coming to Max starting September 1:
Fear the Walking Dead: Season 1–7
A Discovery of Witches: Seasons 1–3
Killing Eve: Seasons 1–4
Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire: Season 1
Gangs of London: Seasons 1 and 2
Dark Winds: Season 1
Ride with Norman Reedus: Seasons 1–5
The programming pop-up will add more than 200 episodes to Max’s content library, bringing recent AMC Networks programs to a broader audience in the U.S. The addition also comes during the joint WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which shut down productions worldwide and left networks scrambling for content. The AMC Plus hub will provide new content at a time when the streaming service’s original content pipeline is paused while writers and actors negotiate a fair deal from the studios.
Why are AMC shows coming to Max?
That’s a great question, and we don’t really know. For all we know, these shows could extend their limited run on Max, and the AMC Plus collection could continue. Neither AMC Networks nor Max reported the financial terms of the deal. AMC Networks aims to drive more viewers to the shows, hoping they’ll sign up for AMC+ and continue watching. “Subscribers turn to Max to find a deep and diverse selection of stories for the whole household,” said Meredith Gertler, executive VP, Global Content Strategy, Planning & Analysis. “The AMC Plus collection pop-up is an excellent example of how we can use innovative strategies to add value to our content offering.” This is not the first time a studio has sent shows to a rival streaming service. In fact, Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiary HBO sent five shows to Netflix in July, but this is the first time Max will receive content from another network.
How long will the AMC shows be on Max?
Not very long! The seven shows will arrive on Max on September 1 and leave at the end of October. That time frame only gives Max subscribers two months to watch AMC content before it disappears. Luckily, the shows will be easy to find! They’ll be available to all subscribers—ad-free and ad-supported tiers—as “AMC Plus Picks” on the app for no extra cost. And while the shows air on Max for the next two months, they will still be available on AMC+.

Diamond Profiles: Moshe Schnitzer
Born in Romania in 1921, Schnitzer moved to what was then Mandatory Palestine in 1934 to study history and philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
His father did not see a future for his son with an academic degree, and in 1942, he entered the diamond business at his father's urging so that he could find a practical source of income. Diamonds were a small budding industry in the country at the time, and young Schnitzer left university to work at a diamond polishing plant only under protest, according to his biography by Merav Halperin, published in 2008.
His got his start at Carol Pickel's factory in Tel Aviv, where he was initiated into the art of rough diamond marking, sawing, and cutting. For years to come, he would consider the plant manager, Jack Fuchs, his professional father. Alongside his work at the diamond polishing plant, he found a political home at the factory as well. Several of the workers were members of the underground Zionist para-military organization, the Irgun, and the factory served as their meeting place. It did not take long before Schnitzer joined the organization as well. His underground nickname was Dan. The friendships and relationships that he established with members of the Irgun would serve him throughout his career in the diamond industry.
Pickel recognized Schnitzer's qualities, and a year after he started working at the factory, Pickel promoted him to the position of manager. Shortly afterwards, he started his public service career in the diamond industry, when he was elected chairman of the Diamond Industry Manager and Clerks Association. "Immediately after being elected, I organized a strike," he later said in an interview. The strikers demanded better pay for low wage workers at some of the diamond facilities. It was the first and last strike in Israel's diamond industry.
In 1946, Schnitzer and Elhanan Halperin co-authored an instruction manual titled, Diamonds, which explained how diamonds are formed, processed, and traded. It was the first such book in Hebrew.
Hard times hit Pickel's factory and he was forced to close. Schnitzer, who had married just a month earlier, found himself out of work. He took his savings and opened a small diamond-polishing factory, employing two workers. His first deal was a very bad one. A con man posing as a South African pilot sold him a parcel of fake rough diamonds that Schnitzer purchased with most of the funds he had.
He began frequenting Café Zukerman in Tel Aviv, where members of the first diamond exchange would meet and trade. However, when he tried to join the exchange as a member, he was rejected for being too young. That did not discourage Schnitzer, who founded a competing mini-bourse for younger business owners. In 1949, realizing that competing exchanges did not serve them well, the two exchanges merged to form the Israel Diamond Exchange, and Schnitzer was appointed vice president.
In 1952, Schnitzer expanded his business when he partnered with Chaim Greenstein. They worked closely for nearly 30 years until Schnitzer opened M. Schnitzer & Co with his son Shmuel and son-in-law Asher Gertler.
During his many years in business, Schnitzer remained active in public life. He is credited with convincing De Beers to start providing rough diamond allocations to the Israeli diamond manufacturing sector. He convinced the Mayor of Ramat Gan to allocate land to the diamond industry to build a modern trading center, similar to those in Antwerp. He established trade publications to bring news and knowledge to Israeli diamond traders. Additionally, he successfully lobbied the Israeli Ministry of Finance to support the Israeli diamond industry and was instrumental in opening many new markets to it.
A lesser-known side to his activities was diplomatic. Schnitzer was a confidant of many public figures in Israel and worldwide, and was at times asked to use his international ties to help Israel's leaders with sensitive diplomatic matters. According to biographer Halperin, Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Golda Meir used Schnitzer to transmit messages to the Soviet Union, partly under the guise of diamond transactions.
Schnitzer served as president of the Israel Diamond Exchange from 1967 to 1993. He was elected president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and later named its Honorary President. In 2004, Schnitzer received the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution to Society and State, the country's most prestigious accolade.
The judging committee that selected Schnitzer said, "In his activities, Mr. Schnitzer turned the State of Israel into one of the leading [countries] in the global diamond industry and, by doing so, contributed to the economic foundations of the country and the creation of tens of thousands of jobs." Schnitzer died in 2007 at the age of 86.

Country Music Recording Artist Chris Clark Releases New “Single Glass Half Empty”
Tumblr media
Tribe 615 flagship recording artist Chris Clark is celebrating the release of his sophomore single titled “Glass Half Empty.”* Penned by the twenty-eight-year-old songwriter alongside Tommy Collier (who is widely recognized for his significant role in kick-starting Katy Perry’s career), and produced by Kolt Barber, the original tune is AVAILABLE NOW via all digital retail and streaming platforms. (Digital distribution and streaming provided by Ed Gertler/Digital Retail Services.) Vintage production combined with an infusion of country and R&B vibes creates a moody sway to enliven the melancholy retrospect of a love affair on the rocks. As a clever play on words, the whiskey bottle simulates an hourglass that’s running out of time and a relationship headed toward the bottom of the barrel. Wax and wane vocals, supported by moody guitar highlights, capture the emotional reverence. “The storyline recalls a romance that once poured over with excitement and hope for the future, and now, it just ‘exists’,” said Chris Clark. “The relationship is not 100% true; she’s no longer in it…and in hindsight, he’d do things differently. If he had a chance for a do-over, he’d work it out to the very last drop, lethal or not!” TIME SIPS AWAY FAST LIKE WE’RE RUNNIN’ OUTTA WHISKEY WHEN YOU’RE GOOD AND GONE THAT’S WHEN IT HITS ME LOVIN’ YOU GIRL IS LIKE A GLASS HALF EMPTY “It’s been a new creative experience working with Chris,” said producer Kolt Barber. “He’s got a knack to string lyrical structures that, when combined with the melody, are far and away from traditional country music compositions that play it safe and stay in the lane.” The track was recorded at the historic Hilltop Studios in Nashville (George Jones/Johnny Cash/Dolly Parton/Merle Haggard/Loretta Lynn) and features instrumental performances by award-winning, hall-of-fame musicians, including Brent Mason (George Strait/Alan Jackson/Shania Twain/Blake Shelton), Buddy Hyatt (TOTO/Lee Greenwood/Randy Travis/JoDee Messina/Tracy Lawrence) and Duncan Mullins (Amy Grant/Steve Wariner/Richard Marx). The release follows the momentum of Clark’s debut single “The Girls Of Tennessee” and is the first in his waterfall series of releases anticipated in 2023. The single will impact radio in early April. Chris Clark “Glass Half Empty” Label: Tribe 615 Written by: Chris Clark/Tommy Collier Produced by: Kolt Barber Release Date: Friday, March 3, 2023 Musicians Credit: Kelly Back (Acoustic Guitar)/Buddy Hyatt (Keys)/Brent Mason (Electric Guitar)/Duncan Mullins (Bass)/Dan Needham (Drums)/Scott Sanders (Steel) Run Time: 3:05 Read the full article
