Cyberpunk 2077 Characters see that V has gone full CyberPsycho (Non love-interest characters)
Johnny:
He shares a body with V, so if their brain is collapsing, his is too.
He’s scared, that’s for sure. He kept trying to tell V to not install so much, to take it slow, but they didn’t listen. He always swore to himself that nothing would scare him, but this is something different.
When he sees maxtac roll in, he doesn’t know whether to be even more scared or relieved. All he knows is that maxtac doesn’t take prisoners, and he’s about to experience his final moments in a cyberpsychos body.
He feels all of their pain, he feels their fear, he feels the impulse to hurt people. Yet for all he’s done in his life, he’s never wanted to do anything like this
Takemura
He’s been waiting impatiently at the Arasaka compound with Hanako, undeniably angry at the fact that V didn’t show for the meeting at Embers.
Hanako called him into the room when she saw the news, sitting him down and turning back on the tv.
He was in shock and horror, wondering why V did all this. He never thought that someone like them, despite how unmannered and rowdy they were, would let this happen.
He takes in a huff of air when he sees the maxtac AV roll in on the news. He knows that V is about to die, no doubt about it.
Takemura isn’t sure what that pang in his heart is, but maybe it’s because this is the first time he’s ever lost a friend so close to him.
Victor Vektor
Misty was the one who told him. She brought down the cat from upstairs just to lock down his shop and turn his TV over towards the news.
He regretted ever installing their first cyberdeck, regretted ever giving them those kiroshi optics. He felt like it was his fault.
Victor wishes he could go over there, try to talk sense into them, try to cure whatever was going on. But he was just a ripper, he knew that, and there was no way he could fix a cyberpsycho.
When maxtac came in, he shut off the tv, going over to his couch and putting his head in his hands. He cried that day, harder than he ever had.
Misty
She already lost Jackie, and now she’s losing V, too.
V, other than Victor, was really her only other close friend. She didn’t really have anyone outside of them, the ripper, and Jackie. Now, she was sure that Victor was going to be the only one left.
She heard the commotion outside, hearing someone screaming about a cyberpsycho in city center. It wasn’t long after the news pinged on her holo to get inside and lock up. V’s face was right on the wanted poster.
She tried to comfort Victor, but she couldn’t really do anything. She felt just as much pain as him, and only wished that this never happened
Rogue
She tried to blame Johnny. She tried to blame the chip, tried to blame literally anything she could.
Rogue called Regina, and although the other fixer promised that she’d try to send someone over there, Rogue didn’t have all too much hope.
She was the one who informed all the other Fixers about what had happened to one of their top Mercs. She was the one who sent someone to get Nibbles safely out of V’s apartment.

So I've been thinking about cyberpsychosis, and how it relates to a lot of things in our world.
So, cyberpsychosis can actually be avoided with therapy, it can even be cured, and a lot of things can cause cyberpsychosis, and it's extremely simple to avoid it with the necessary support. But the cyberpsychosis victims just can't afford it.
Soldiers with PTSD, workers forced to chrome up to meet unreasonable expectations, drug addictions aggravating existing conditions, traumatic events... all that are wounds that can heal given enough time.
But they can't afford to take the time. Cyberpsychosis is a mental health crisis that feeds into the fear-mongering of weapon manufacturers and the like.
And, cyberpsychosis victims are forgotten by everyone, there is this huge stigma, around the word, because when someone talks about cyberpsychos they immediately think of mass murderers that feed on blood and screams, they think that they are the absolute most vile and awful people on the planet.
And it got me thinking about how people with mental illnesses are seen in our actual real life world.
So, I suppose it's a bit of a rant, but it resonates a lot with me because I was on anti-psychotics, ran out years ago, and I do have episodes and breakdowns, I'm almost always on edge when I go out, and I almost never want to talk about it because of the huge stigma around, like in my family, seeing a psychiatrist, or just a therapist is just for "crazy people" like, if they think about psychotic episodes, they think about movie villains and stuff like that.

CYBERPSYCHOSIS as explained by Mike Pondsmith (therealmaxmike via Reddit)
Okay, so time to (partially) explain CYBERPSYCHOSIS.
First of all, Cyberpsychosis is a disorder that in part depends on the subject's overall internal susceptibility. Just like every person who drinks a lot at parties doesn't end up an alcoholic in the gutter, not everyone who gets loaded up on cyberware is going to automatically go cyberpsycho. You have to have an inherent susceptibility, which (in the TRPG) is represented by the player's Humanity Stat. Humanity is not just a measure of *one* aspect of personality, but an overall measure of several elements including the subject's ability to emphasize and relate with others, their ability to absorb and rebound from mental and physical stressors, their ability to show compassion and flexibility to others, and whether they are able to balance their worldview through other methods.
So, in some ways, I tend to treat cyberware as an addiction--heavy anabolic steroid use being my favorite model. Not everyone who juices ends up crazy mad with roid rage. But those who are more susceptible to the need to take more steroids are more likely to hit a point where they do flip into roid rage. (Take a look at this article from Livescience for a pretty good idea of how roid rage works--notice that it's got the same basic profile as cyberpsychosis).
David's starting Humanity was probably already pretty high. And before things went to crap, he had a loving mother, a career path, and no more hassle than the average poor guy in a wealthy Ivy League school. So he had lots of buffer. But even so, he still, even after losing all that, was able to make friends, build a replacement family, and (after some prompting) even get a girlfriend. And a mentor (Maine) to create a supportive father figure. So he could definitely handle the stress of added cyberware up to a point.
Most people in Night City don't have the level of Humanity to pull this kind of stunt off without going cyberpsychotic. So David is one in a million. And that's why Arasaka wants him.
V is a different case. We don't know V's background, but even if V was a full on Corpo, they were able to hold it together even when they ended up with a dead Rockerboy in their heads (Yah, tell me about it; Johnny Silverhand's been in *my* head for the last three decades.) In fact, having Johnny in their head probably helped V, because Silverhand's rage and attitude probably acted as a buffer for the psychological hits V is taking. It's like having a time share with a guy who's already half cyberpsycho and doesn't mind if V slaps stuff on their shared body; he's already crazy and violent.
So that's a rough explanation of the roots of cyberpsychosis. If I ever get band width, I'm going to start writing/posting some stuff about what I had in mind as I put together the Night City universe. But for now, you'll have to go with what I've got here. Have fun, and remember not to chip mili-spec cyberware, like your mother warned you about.
And no, cyberpsychosis isn't caused by AI net demons. Gimme a break, chooms!

Zombie Au: Fallout 2077 lore: Acid Rain
I was talking with a choom about this, and was kind of just making some stuff up on the spot, since we're both really into this au, we were thinking of how the 'zombies' came to be, well.. 'zombies'.
Acid rain. Lemme explain.
They aren't technically "zombies", they are regular humans who when hit with the acid rain, experience an extreme case of cyberpsychosis. This form of cyberpsychosis is different however, in that when acid rain touches their skin, they go into a zombie like state. Their movements, depending on what stage of cyberpsychosis they are in, are either slower or quicker. Stage one 'zombies' are very slow, still partially human like, and can be saved. They aren't nearly as aggressive, but it's still best to steer clear from them, as being in such a state is still dangerous, and once you're in stage one, you have a very limited amount of time to be saved and treated. Stage two 'zombies' can no longer be saved. They are more aggressive, and when approached by anyone, will act will full force. They still cannot run, but are quicker in speed, and easy to catch up to anyone trying to escape them. They will cause injury, and can turn someone if not careful. Stage three is the most aggressive, and the most dangerous. They will go for the kill, they are incredibly fast pace, can climb, and crawl to catch up to their victims, if bitten or scratched, seek help immediately. You're on limited time. (By limited I mean minutes). Acid rain is nothing to play with. If you suspect acid rain, seek shelter immediately.
I headcanon that during Vaughn & Goro's adventures through the badlands, Goro realized he was immune. It's suspected that due to his implants being so advanced, as he was able to get them re-activated thanks for Vik, caused his immunity. However Vaughn is not immune. Seeking shelter is a lot more difficult in the badlands. They manage, but it's been a journey for sure. They mainly run into stage 1 'zombies', occasionally stage 2. They've never run into stage 3 baddies, and have no idea what they even look like.
Stage 3 remains somewhere in the shadows of NC.
Thanks to @kharonion for joining me on this AU journey and helping me build lore. You're wonderful, friend. ♥

Didn’t feel a thing.
Effects of Cyberpsychosis
Cyberpsychosis is not necessarily always violent. Not all "cyberpsychos" are violent. However, a number of cases, particularly those who have already manifested psycho-pathological or sociopathic tendencies, will find those tendencies magnified to a dangerous extent. Specifically, their view of others as things to be used or harmed without thought or empathy increases dramatically.

Following the hype for Edgerunners, I created a little pamphlet to introduce the concept of cyberpsychosis to my players. It's visually entrenched in the universe's style, but has actually useful information!
