Peanuts - a short story

It was a late summer evening. The sun seemed like he was thinking he’d go downstairs and take rest for a couple of hours. The beach was timid yet intense. The orange sky seemed to blend with purplish waters understanding the plight of the sun. Well, the wind had no intention of resting it seemed, the seagulls were all flapping around in delight and flying here and there as if they had no job in the world. He was walking with her, holding her hands and walking their usual walk along the coast. The ocean and the beach seemed to know both of them ever since eternity. Anna looked up at him and smiled her usual smile. He just looked at her, without any smile. The waves came and splashed water onto both of their legs. Kids were all screaming in delight, the beach was in a frolicking mood today. Couldn’t say why the beach was always like this. There was something about the sand, the wind and the water and not to mention the salted roasted peanuts sold by the local boys along the coast. A sandy faced shabby young boy, who couldn’t have been older than 7 came behind them and shouted ‘Peanuts ma’am?’ Razool and Anna turned around and smiled at him and Razool took out two 10rs notes and gave it to him. The boy smiled back his impish smile and handed out to him two packets of peanuts. The boy seemed to be always happy no matter what. ‘How’s the wind today sir?’, he asked. Razool just winked at him and off went the boy chasing after his next customer. Peanuts were tasty. Especially with the fragrance of the sea and the wind hitting on the nose, the roasted peanuts were, at that moment, worth its weight in gold. Anna seemed to take just one peanut out of the packet and eat it. Savour its taste, crunch it down and only after the poor peanut had been jammed and crashed into pieces liquified with saliva and evacuated into her intestines , did she take out another peanut from the packet and take the next one through the same dilemna. Razool wasn’t like that, he would be telling her some strange weird story of the day that she always seemed to giggle a lot and in midst of the storytelling, he’d pour out a handful of peanuts from the packet into his palm and munch them alongside. Well, no matter what, every single time Anna's packet of peanuts would finish first. Don’t know if it could be the curse of the lone peanuts in the intestine awaiting salvation. Then Razool would take out another palmful of peanuts from his packet as if his peanut packet would never be empty as long as he wished for. He would then hand her a palmful of peanuts and continue with his storytelling and she with her giggling. Today, Razool Thengumparambil was in bit of a spot. His business was going through a crucial juncture, the Financial year was going to begin soon and his only international client, an Australian malayalee, had cheated him and started another venture with his best programming freelancer by offering him huge money. He knew he should not have added the Australian client Mr Prince Kothamangalathveettil and his best freelance programmer in a whatsapp group, he should have added them in a Skype group. But, more than the financial loss, what bothered him was how easily people backstabbed each others in business. One day they'd walking like friends hands over shoulders and another day they'd be walking like complete strangers. Razool didn't understand that. He felt as if there was no honest businessman in the world. But Mr. Razool Thengumparambil was not a man that would give up. He was not sure how his FY 2019 would pan out to be. He had put lots and lots of calculations and dreams on it since a long long time. The sun seemed to have merged half into the waters by now, though the seagulls flapped around like not having a care in the world. Anna was begging him for another story and gazing at her made Razool forget everything else in the world. He loved her. Madly. He took out a last palmful of peanuts from his packet, poured it into his right palm, handed it to her, looked at her eyes and said ‘ I wish these were diamonds’. (To be contd..)

Avagy hogy lett június? Mármint értem én, hogy mindig ugyanannyi hónapból áll az év, de így… vad.

Na, de.

Akivel szoktam beszélni, az tudja, hogy május második felében Japánban voltam (15-30). Még januárban vettem egy repjegyet, majd az agyam tiltakozott annak a feldolgozása ellen, hogy Japánba fogok menni, és egészen addig nem is fogtam fel, amíg le nem szálltam.

(Akkor sem igazán, de az egy másik sztori.)

Fogok írni erről a két hétről, de nem itt.

Viszont visszatértem, és ahelyett, hogy az életem hagyott volna merengeni azon, hogy és akkor most hogyan tovább, kipipáltam a legfelső tételt a bakancslistámon, a Lakhatás gondok és a Munkával Kapcsolatos Aggodalmak szépen beköltöztek az előszobába.

A lakhatás

Ugye azt már többször is írtam, hogy ebben a házban minden szuper, tök jó környéken van, tök szeretem a lakótársaimat, ámde itt ez a főbérlő, az ukrán nő, aki nem hagy minket élni. Konstans zaklat engem meg a Marcit, meg hazudozik, de hazajöttem, és kicsit eltört bennem valami. Először is, mielőtt elmentem, megígérte, hogy kicseréli az ágyat, ez nem történt meg, helyette idehozott valami ágynak nem nevezhető valamit, ami cirka 150 cm, hogy majd veszek rá egy matracot. Illetve nem volt melegvíz, mert elromlott a bojler, az idióta férje megpróbálta megcsinálni, onnantól víz sem volt a zuhanyzóban, öt napig. Aztán küldött egy üzikét, hogy fizessük ki az új bojlert. Most ki lett cserélve, viszont beázott a konyha.

Most azt félretéve, mennyire felháborító az egész, megegyeztünk abban, hogy akkor elkezdjük az elköltözés előkészületeit, de annyira balfasz vagyok ebben. A szobakereséshez nem árt, ha hajlandó vagy telefonhívásokat intézni, meg időt kell vele tölteni, na már most nekem egyik sem az erősségem, viszont cserébe már most szanaszét vagyok a stressztől.

Amúgy az is tök nagy szopás, hogy ez most történik, mert nyilván nem fogtam magam vissza Japánban, erősen leépítettem a megtakarításaimat, plusz egy hónap a felmondási időm, szóval ha júliusban már nem akarok itt lenni, már fel kellett volna mondanom.

A Munkával kapcsolatos Aggodalmak nem ennyire negatívak, sőt egyáltalán nem negatívak. Mielőtt már elmentem nyaralni, tudtam, hogy lesz majd egy review-m, ami fizetésemelést jelent, meg egy általános beszélgetést arról, hogy mit értem el, meg mik a terveim. És egészen eddig tök biztos voltam benne, hogy engem a purchasing érdekel, és a Janet munkájának a közelében szeretnék lenni, meg tanulni, de mióta voltam az ezüstműhelyben tök megütött ennek az egésznek a varázsa.

Szóval vázoltam, hogy engem ez a két dolog érdekel, és mondta a Janet, mindkettő okés, de el kell döntenem, melyiket szeretném, mert a kettő együtt nem megy.

Másrészt viszont az egésznek volt egy olyan, nagyon pozitív kicsengése, hogy mindenki tök szeret, meg vannak elégedve a munkámmal, és csak így tovább, maradjak pozitív meg érdeklődő.

Csütörtökön amúgy voltam moziban (wonder woman), meg Olavo a saját jövőjével kapcsolatos aggodalmait hallgattam a konyhában a megkérdőjelezhető állagú currym felett.

Nem hiszem el még mindig, hogy voltam Japánban. Amúgy.
