Getting Mr Puzzle mad over the ratings is really funny but I wouldn't put it past him to pull one of those "all your favourite TV shows characters are being TAKEN OUT BACK AND SHOT ONE BY ONE EXECUTION STYLE!!!!!!" Like you get in all those fake broadcasting offline/shows cancelled creepypasta videos, just showing png's of all the SMG4 characters getting covered in blood one by one and fading out. That would be so insanely funny I think I would pass out if that happened.

Anyway not gonna happen, but a horse can dreeeam.

Istg the creepypasta tumblr tag is one of the most wild tags I'm following, mainly because if your scrolling through new posts you have like a rough estimate of 50% shitposts, 20% fanfics, 20% fanart and 10% cosplay or other misc things

This leads to opening the tag to some wonderful art, scrolling to see like 3 people down bad for an oversaturated png, demon man or "dog boy" (and one of them writings you'll probably need bleach after reading), than immediately after that post where your definitely sure the writer needs therapy, you get a shitpost that will make you laugh your ass off for no reason because of the comedic timing. I love this fandom so much, it's so fucking stupid.

Edit: take the percentages with lots of salt, but you get what I mean.

Jet:

Jet the Jerboa is basically the Fang that's in the Fleetway comics, following the events of team chaotix until he's revealed as a villain, I didn't made many things about him, I just like to draw him, maybe one day I'll make more things about him

Flake:

Flake also follows the Fleetway comics lore, he's a hybrid in this AU, and because of that he has a medical condition that causes him a loss of melanine, making his body have a kind of albinism that evolves with time, and because of that, he's extremely insecure and makes many impulsive actions

BFang:

Buried Fang is basically a creepypasta from Sonic Triple Trouble, me and @hmmmzin always found creepy that Fang was "Buried alive" and then I had the idea of making a horror fangame related to this event, I'm not on the hype to do it now, but who knows? X3

EFang:

This Fang is part of an AMV series that I think on doing from the Vocaloid Saga of Evil (Daughter of Evil, Servent of Evil and all...) Where Fang would be Len and Nic would be Rin, at the time I even made art of Fang and Nic as Len and Rin, one day I'll do it, I was animating it but my phone broke so AAAAAAAAAAA

Nack:

This Fang follows the majority of the events from Archie comics, however it has some changes!! Nack's family was part of the Royal family where obviously Nack suffered from a kind of psychologic pression caused by his parents of being the best in everything, and that made Nack end up as someone very paranoid when it comes of committing errors and giving him a very self destructive vision of himself, Nack kinda went against his parents because of the pression, and he decided to enter in a bounty hunter life, until his adulthood, when he accepts his parents offer to clear his criminal record and live a "normal" life, what ends up with him isolating himself

Asir:

Yea, this little guy originated Andy :3 he's a Fang that I've created in 2014, all of his backstories are:

2014: originally he were a Fang from another dimension, where he is one of the main villains that fights against another sonic series corresponding heroes (considering that in the time I thought that putting hair on a sonic png was considered as making a new OC XD)

So after some more adventures he decides to explore new universes until he finds the original universe

2015: he's apparently the younger brother from Fang and Nic, his change of color is because he was beaten up (I had 10 in the time I wrote this :'3) and in that time he was extremely evil, however after some time he turned to good XD

Another lores that I remember: at the time when I wrote comics (unfortunately I can't show because my parents threw it away :c) he was a character extremely unlucky and misfortunate XD he's also had a younger brother called "Léu", who he had a rivality with (Léu was on the side of the heroes and Asir was on the side of the villains), the most recent story was related to racism against weasels (it was 2018 and I didn't knew that Fang wasn't a weasel) about how it had some kind of racism against weasels because of the "representative" being a villain

(Asir and Andy are NOT the same character, it means that Andy is not an alternative version of Fang!!)

i had a dream last night that on the internet it was customary for people to "deep fry" their pfps annually. you were supposed to take note of the day you joined any site and every year after that date was known as your "aging day" and you had to run your icon through an instagram filter or some other png editing program to show how time had passed. ppl even celebrated it differently site by site; on tumblr, for example, it was almost considered an "internet birthday" and mutuals would leave caring notes via the ask box and post images of comic-sans-edited cakes. smaller, older forums had different (more specific) ceremonies, and twitter just treated it like a chore they had to contend with.

the tradition of "aging days" meant that you could tell how long someone had been on a site based on the sharpness of their pfp - newer users would have a crisp, clean image, and older users' icons would be almost impossible to decipher, a mixed mess of pixilation and blurs. incomprehensible pfps were generally seen as a sign of wisdom, especially in tech advice threads, though people frequently misconstrued image pixilation with actual user age, sparking varying arguments - after all, it was site by site, and a clear pfp could belong to a new 70 year old user just as much as it could belong to a child. still, it was normally just another aspect of internet life. i joined tumblr and followed the “aging day” tradition just like anyone else, without thinking much of it. it’s what everyone else did.

at first i assumed it was just a customary fun internet thing, but i noticed after a while that even Serious Accounts were doing it - official accounts belonging to newspapers, museums, government officials. they weren’t trying to be “in on the joke” either. none of them even mentioned it. their icons would just annually degrade alongside everyone else’s, without a second thought. this seemed out of place to me - i researched “aging days” on wikipedia and i saw that it was mandated, but by who? no one could figure that out. it wasn’t a creepypasta thing, accounts just went dark if they didn’t follow the tradition. some people thought it was a government law, but no one government controlled the entire internet. i decided to see if it was true for myself. i waited months for one of my “aging days” to come - my most recent would be that of a twitter account i’d constructed a year prior. when the time came, i sat and watched as my pfp stayed the same crisp, clear image of a farm house on a clear blue day. i didn’t corrupt the photo the entire day and i watched the digital clock turn to midnight. and i woke up.

an interesting story resurfaced in my head recently. its kind of like lost media, but not quite.

theres this game called minetest which is an open source version of minecraft and i played it a long time ago with siblings.

I have a distinct memory of encountering a green figure in the night. i was either in the walls of an under construction base, or a shallow, quarry-like hole in the ground. i don't remember what it did, as far as my memory serves it came and went.

it wasn't my brother.

so i dug into it. i was able to find the EXACT IMAGE of this thing because someone had added it as a skin in a mod. the mods files calls it player_1.png, and it's not even a real skin, just a flat image that you can wear.

my first theory was that my dad might have been messing with us, he got us minetest before we got minecraft and maybe he got the mod. i think i even have memories of using it.

...but he never played with us. he told me when i asked him he'd never seen the image before. my dad also has a firewall on our internet browser, and ports are closed so it couldn't have been someone else.

the image only appears on the forums page for the mod in 2012, the mod's github page, and a random instagram post from 2016 with a low res, cropped version of that same image from the mod files. the forum posts lead nowhere because nobody mentions the green dude. he's just there.

so my second theory is that it was some kind of monster in the game. which would seem to check out with the previous scenario. maybe it was a monster that attacked and i killed it and didnt remember. maybe it was an early monster that didnt do much. all i remember is it moved towards me, and then eventually at some point it was gone.

so i dig deeper still, and download old versions of the game, and lo and behold, theres a monster called the dungeon master. i know this because the old version launches with a console that tells me when mobs spawn and where they are, when blocks are broken, etc.

but upon meeting this creature it's still not right. the creature isn't even green, just some large brown creature with a face on its chest. its not what im looking for.

every single trail for this image has gone cold, and my best bet at this point is to look at some minetest skins of this thing, since there were some 3d skins made to imitate it, but that's the last lead i have.

tbh that one piece clown on the dash kind of reminded me of when they would have a mini ad island on poptropica where they would just have a png of the character of whatever movie or show they were advertising for and it always scared the fuck out of me as a kid. thats probably why the hyper-realism trope in creepypastas worked on me

Demo: DREDGE

I am going to catch every godforsaken critter in this scary ass ocean.

  My biggest fear whenever I see a game marketed as “(specific genre)-horror” is that it’s going the creepypasta angle. You know how that goes, you launch the game and you see a tongue-in-cheek title screen evoking an innocent game like Mario 64. You’re treated to two or three levels of uninspired gameplay with a few unsettling messages or hints that something is cursed or haunted, and then the skybox is jeff the killer png and there’s a secret room with a demonic summoning circle on the floor and all gameplay elements of the surface game are pretty much abandoned so you can be chased by a low poly necromorph with Banjo-Kazooie eyes. At best a funny steam gift with some cheap scares. All this to say, that  you shouldn’t mistake DREDGE’s marketing as “fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent.”  to mean it’s to Sega Bass Fishing as Pony Island was to King’s Quest.   DREDGE’s demo isn’t an “innocent” introduction of a mundane fishing simulator that turns in a whiplash of juxtaposition, there’s no mundane “normal” beginning of reeling in fish on a quiet river to serve as a waiting room for a horrifying terrorsquid to breach the surface ending the game. Instead, things start off pretty damn spooky. You arrive at a village in need of a new fisherman, the boat you arrived on is totaled, so the mayor gives you a new one in a Nookian bargain to pay off your debt for it as you earn money bringing in fish for the town. You’re immediately allowed to set sail and catch your first haul of seafood. This first excursion is a short one, as your new boat only has one engine and no lighting at all. You can’t move quickly enough to explore too far from your new home village, and the lack of light makes the mysterious evening fog even more deadly, as it hides every rock and obstacle that would threaten the hull of your ship. It’s in this loop of catching fish and returning home to sell them that DREDGE feeds you new mysteries. Bottles containing the journal entries of a unnamed married couple are hints of what other sailors have seen on the waters. “Aberrations” of normal fish species can be reeled in by chance, varying from bloated and strange colored specimens that seemed to have been struggling to survive, to chimera-like sea creatures that have impossibly large, human-looking eyes. You’re given the equipment to harvest resources to upgrade your ship, and with this upgrade the bounty of mysterious finds expands to lost heirlooms on shipwrecks and strange antiques sought after by a strange collector that enlists you to bring these antiques to his mansion on his private island. One of a handful NPC’s that will surely have a story to unravel as you find more haunted treasure and freaky critters.   The actual gameplay of DREDGE surprised me the most. Beyond the games expanded implementation of the usual fishing minigame of pressing A when the moving line is over the right box, there’s Resident Evil-style inventory management of everything on your ship. All your catches, fishing equipment, and machinery is kept in one boat-shaped grid. Adding another basic engine means losing one mackrel worth of inventory space. A fishing rod capable of angling in shallow waters will take up another two squares of cargo space, or three if its the more expensive model, with faster reel speed. Thankfully you have a large storage box on each island as well, with a shared inventory. So you won’t be having to sail back and forth between different islands, or sacrifice inventory space for quest items. The process of upgrading your ship to catch and haul different types of fish and treasure seems to be a engaging one, though the upgrade tree for this was not actually usable in the demo.  I honestly would have probably been still somewhat excited for DREDGE if it was some kind of meta-horror bass pro fishing, but the experience of navigating rocky waters to catch strange aberrations, and discovering treasures for strange characters made it my most anticipated game I discovered this Next Fest.
