Day 19. Pedicure Sans was running completely on autopilot as he pushed open the bathroom door, resulting in a startled grunt as he nearly stumbled over Frisk. The girl squeaked from her position on the floor, bent over a small assortment of objects next to a wide open drawer. "O-oh! Hi, Sans...!" Sans took a moment to get his skull back into working order, processing the scene before him, grin stretching slow and casual. "woah, kiddo. i know you've always been kinda nosy, but raiding tori's bathroom supplies is kinda scandalous, don'cha think?" He grabbed his toothbrush and a tube of minty paste. Without missing a beat, he added, "so, what did'ja find?" Recovering with an embarrassed giggle, Frisk started cleaning up the small mess of toiletries. "Not too much, but, I did find this cool rock. I'm not sure why it was in there." She held it up. "Do you?" "le's'see." Starting to scrub his teeth with one hand, Sans took the rock in the other. It was lightweight and incredibly porous; a bit rough — much like his own fingers. Humming, he rinsed off his toothbrush and grabbed a towel to wipe his face before declaring, "no idea. but you can have it back for five g." "Saaaaans!" Frisk whined at him in playful annoyance. "No fair!" "pay up, kiddo." "Give it back!" "nuh-uh." "Give it!" "Give what, may I ask?" Toriel's amused voice rang out from the other side of the door, the boss monster peeking inside. Frisk and Sans both jumped, sheepishly turning to Toriel as she came inside. "uh ... jus' this," Sans admitted after a moment's hesitation, extending his hand to show her the rock. "...found it in your drawer, so, uh, i'll just put it back." "Oh, did you now," Toriel replied dubiously, swiping the object from his hand. "This is my pumice stone." "What's that?" Frisk asked curiously. "What's it for?" "Well, I would give you a little demonstration, but it is not good practice to share pumice stones for hygiene precautions." Turning on the faucet, she began soaking the stone. "However, as Sans is physiologically resistant to those very precautions, I will instead demonstrate on him." "h-hey! when did i sign up for this?..." Sans asked with a hint of a flustered pout, taking a step back. "When you lied, trying to cover for Frisk just now," Toriel answered with a giggle. Picking up the apprehensive skeleton, she placed him on the counter, pleased to see his feet were already bare. Kneeling down on the floor, she gripped one of his ankles and very gently placed the wet stone against his foot, starting to rub in slow circles. "A pumice stone is a tool used to exfoliate and soften skin. Since Sans is lacking in skin, I am being extra careful with him, hmhm." The skeleton huffed and started to squirm, the texture strangely triggering his reflexes. "no way...." It was a bit reminiscent of a scratchy tongue, or perhaps his brother's bony knuckles — but still, "you are not t-tickling me with a rock rih-rihight now...!" "Oh, I am not? I suppose you will not mind if I continue then." Frisk giggled at Toriel's playful smirk and Sans's exasperated eyeroll. "You see, sometimes, when we perform repetitive tasks or otherwise repeatedly irritate the skin, our bodies will adapt and start to thicken and harden, so, if you prefer your skin to stay soft, you must use a method such as this to maintain it the way that you like. It is also important not to exfoliate too much at once, or you may end up hurting yourself. Balance is key." "ghh~hk—! nnnmh...!" Sans couldn't sit still, hands creeping up his arms until he was outright hugging himself. "In Sans's case, however, it looks like it's just stirring up his magical nerves to the surface." She smiled jovially, setting the pumice stone aside and gingerly scrabbled her filed claws against his now-glowing sole. "Which I am certain he finds just as beneficial...."
Arching with a squeal, Sans yanked on his ankle until Toriel mercifully released him. "ohokay, okay! show's over! nhnn—!" He quickly scooted down off the counter, wincing and whining when his sensitized foot met the threads of the rug. Trying to avoid putting too much pressure in his steps, he hobbled his way out of the bathroom to the couch to calm down, cheeks bright and blue. "Thanks for the demonstration, hehe!" Frisk called after him, sharing a bubbly giggle fit with the boss monster.

Hey Jam, you recently metioned that you're going to make some small changes to Showman and you finally figured out the structure. Can you share more about that?
Basically two things.
The fic is getting a "new" name. It will be just "The Showman" (since it kind of already is and over time I started to love the simple title way more).
It also will be four parts, covering different time periods (with war time chapters in between)
Part 1: The Boy From Kryvyi Rih
Part 2: Make 'Em Laugh (working title)
Part 3: Showman (working title)
Part 4: A Servant Of His People (working title)
No idea yet when I'll implement the changes. Basically nothing else is going to change.

Oh yeah Taylor never gets papped with Joe, actually she mostly gets photographed in events or going to events. She rarely gets actually papped like that time when the private jets info leaked and they tried to get her papped and she covered herself with a huge umbrella lol she is really private now. Same with Leo DiCaprio though he gets spotted by people with phones lol Beyoncé and Rihanna only get papped by two paps in NYC which they are friendly with that even Rih pregnancy pics are from him.
Yup! Holivia is a marketing tool. There’s no point for Harry and Olivia hanging out together if nobody sees it. 🤷‍♀️

Putin Hammerblow as Ukraine Airstrike Devastates Another of Russia's War Bases — EXPRESS
8/3/2022 — VLADIMIR PUTIN has suffered another devastating blow after Ukrainian army missile and artillery units blasted a Russian war base in Chornobayvka, southern Ukraine.
Tumblr media
Russia began it brutal invasion of Ukraine more than 5 months ago. Thousands of troops have been killed and several major cities reduced to rubble. But Vladimir Putin's war effort has not gone to plan, with Ukrainian troops courageously fighting back against intense and continued Russian aggression.
Tumblr media
In the latest hammerblow to Putin, a Russian base in the Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine has now been devastated by opposition forces, according to the Ukrainian Operational Command South.  Video footage shared on social media appears to show thick black smoke rising from an explosion at the Russian-occupied base in Chornobaivka.
Tumblr media
Ukrainian Operational Command South said on Facebook: "The enemy continues to conduct hostilities along the occupied defense line. They have started to prepare an assault group on the Kryvyi Rih front. "It is probable that the enemy is preparing a counteroffensive aimed at reaching the administrative border of Kherson Oblast."
Tumblr media
Russian fighters had attempted "combat reconnaissance" under the cover of two tanks along the Sukhyi Stavok — Bilohirka line, but failed and retreated with losses, according to reports. But later that day, they launched another two airstrikes and two rocket attacks at Ukrainian positions.
Tumblr media
These were carried out from the temporarily-occupied territories of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions by helicopters and multiple-launch rocket systems. Mykolaiv came under further attack as two surface-to-air rockets hit the suburbs.  But Ukrainian forces fought back, with an anti-aircraft missile unit in the Bashtanka district shooting down three X-101 cruise missiles.

Olena Zelenska: "We do not give birth to children to hide them in the cellars of Russian missiles"
Scriptwriter, producer and first lady of Ukraine, the war caught her as much by surprise as the rest of the Ukrainians. After spending the first months away from her husband, Volodímir Zelenski, she has returned to kyiv, where she receives EL PAÍS in the Presidential Offices converted into a bunker.
Walking into the room next to Olena Zelenska's office is a constant reminder that these are not normal times for Ukraine. Behind a landscape of concrete blocks, anti-tank hedgehogs, barbed wire and three military checkpoints, you have to turn on the lamp on your mobile phone so as not to stumble through the rooms of the Presidential Offices, in the center of kyiv. The sandbags that cover the windows practically do not let in the light. The constant walks of armed uniformed men clearly show, in case there is any doubt, that we are in a country at war. Telephones are prohibited in the room and the recorder that will record the conversation has to pass the mandatory control of the military.
There was nothing to suspect that Zelenska (Krivii Rih, 44 years old) would one day represent her country as first lady. After studying Architecture, in 2003 she married Volodymyr Zelensky and started working as a scriptwriter at his television production company Kvartal 95. She never liked public exposure. She found out about the jump into politics from her husband. He simply told her that she forgot to mention it. In her first year in office she was heavily criticized for her lack of public presence. But the brutal Russian invasion has pushed her to narrate to the world the disasters of a war that began on February 24 and has no sign of ending.
Zelenska receives EL PAÍS in the first face-to-face interview that she grants to a medium in Spanish. After spending the first two months of the conflict in a secret location far from kyiv, she now seeks to gain prominence. In the conversation of almost an hour and a half, she remembers the worst moments, when it seemed that the Russian troops were about to take over the capital, and the high bill that she is paying both the country and her family. Her and her children, she says, have rarely seen Zelensky since Vladimir Putin decided to invade the country.
After a few courteous words in English, she answers in Ukrainian and smiles when she hears the questions in Spanish: “I love how it sounds because it surprises me every time. It's a pleasure to hear it."
In her life there have been two radical changes. The first, in 2019, when she became first lady. And the second, on February 24, when Russia invades Ukraine.
My life totally changed when my husband was elected president. No school teaches you to be a first lady. Unfortunately, one has to learn it on one's own. I have had to change many things, learn, especially how to communicate. In February, not only the life of the first lady, the mother and the wife changed, but also that of the entire Ukrainian people. We live in an eternal groundhog day. We just hope that day is over.
During the first two months of the war, he traveled with his two children to a place that he prefers not to detail and the president stayed in kyiv at the forefront of the country's defense. How were those days? Was she afraid she would never see her husband again or have to flee the Ukraine forever?
I did not choose to leave kyiv. Circumstances forced me. Yes, she was afraid of never seeing him again, but just like any Ukrainian woman who has had to separate from her husband because he had to defend the country. This war has made us live horrible moments. Like when the Russian Army was very close to kyiv. We were surrounded and there was a high risk of them entering. I was afraid that I would never see my friends and loved ones again. We live with that continuous hope of overcoming everything and defeating the war. But the fear does not go away, it persists. This same night the anti-aircraft alarms have sounded again. You can always wake up in the middle of the night and think: "Now it could be you", as has happened in the Russian attacks on cities like Kremenchuk, Odessa or Mikolaiv
What memory do you have recorded of those days?
Sometimes I would wake up in the morning and think, "What a nightmare I had tonight." But then I realized that it was not a nightmare, but reality. It's our life. We do not give birth to our children to have to hide them in cellars from Russian missiles. We want them to live. Assuming that reality, understanding that we have to live in spite of everything, makes us even more desperate. But we have to do something. Not doing so would be much worse.
How has it affected family life, you and your children, ages 17 and 9?
Much. We are still separated, because my husband lives where he works and we see very little of each other. My children want to see his father, hug him. Yesterday, my son asked me when that war will end so we can have dinner or sleep together. To watch a movie or read a book. We have to get over it so it doesn't affect his mental health. My daughter is a teenager in a difficult period. She is going to enter the university, but she cannot see her friends or move around the city for security. She doesn't know if she will be able to go to study. Of course it affects them being separated from her friends, not being able to play. In their mobile games, in Minecraft, they have the built-in anti-aircraft alarm. I hope we get through this and give them back their life and their childhood.
When you married Zelensky, he was a fairly well-known actor and it never crossed your mind that he might go into politics. What expectations did you have then of the family you were going to form?
Of course, I did not marry the future president, or even a TV star. I expected nothing more than to find a friend, a companion, a husband for life and the father of my children. He has fulfilled all my expectations: to be the best father for my children. He is the person who has never failed me, I have never doubted him.
Zelensky entered politics as an outsider. Before the war his popularity was on the decline, but since February he has become an international icon of the resistance. With such high expectations, are you afraid of letting them down?
I don't think my husband is an outsider or that he ever has been. Simply, he has gone through different stages. At first he was very popular, then he went down a bit and now he is perhaps the most popular Ukrainian president in history. But his goal is not to be popular at this price or to be on the front pages of world newspapers. They ask for many interviews, yes, but the weapons are not given to them. And that's what he fights for. He is a man who is determined to win. And if he wins, he will win the whole country. And we will do.
In the days before February 24, when the United States warned that the Russian invasion was imminent, Zelensky tried to lower the alarm. He said that the Ukrainians could peacefully spend this summer on the beaches. From his house, as a family, what perception of real danger did you have those days?
We felt quite a bit of tension months before the war. Every Ukrainian sensed it in one way or another. But no one, not even myself, could imagine that something of such cruelty could happen in the 21st century, of such illogical destruction without any pretext. It is normal for the president of a country to try to reassure his people in a dangerous situation. I don't usually comment on my husband's political messages. But I can tell you that February 24 was a horrible test for us. Something so terrible that we don't even remember what happened before.
How and when do you think this war can end?
We all know how it will end. But we don't know when.
And how will it end?
Of course, only Ukraine's victory is possible.
We have seen indiscriminate Russian attacks on civilians, such as the one on the Kremenchuk shopping mall, in which dozens of people were killed just going to do their shopping on a Monday afternoon. What explanation do you find for these acts?
This is not a war with a political argument. All these statements about the Nazis in the Ukraine make no sense. They want to exterminate us as a people, they want to fight against what we are, against our way of being, resisting and loving freedom. They would prefer us to be their subjects. We want a future in which we can exercise that right to exist and to be free. It is pure terror that they want to spread so that no one can ever feel safe. With that fear, they don't want us to raise our heads. But they get the opposite. We are uniting and, despite everything, we are resisting and fighting for our lives.
As first lady, she has been the subject of much criticism. How have you coped?
At first it was quite painful because there were a lot of nasty comments. It took me time to understand that I can't react when someone criticizes my behavior, my appearance or my style. It wouldn't let me move on. I do not use social networks for my personal communication, only to communicate my activity. There will always be criticism. You have to use them constructively, to improve and overcome mistakes. But to tell you the truth, it hurts me more when my husband is criticized.
The recent NATO summit in Madrid discussed the role of the wives and husbands of country leaders in the 21st century. Which do you think it should be?
It is a very important role. Last year I organized in Ukraine the first summit of first ladies and first gentlemen to be united and come out of the shadow. I don't feel comfortable as decoration for the president. Being first lady means carrying out many activities in the social field, and we can do them together. When the war started, they all supported me a lot. Brigitte Macron [wife of the French president] has targeted children with cancer to offer treatment in France. Agata Duda [Polish First Lady] also supports our refugees by creating spaces where they can read books in Ukrainian or study Ukrainian history. I also asked them for support in organizing camps for children in the summer. We must change our role, the so-called soft power, to improve humanity.
How can you contribute to the struggle in your country?
Before the war, it promoted development projects. Now it's about saving and helping; and do it quickly. We have projects like the Convoy of Life, which served to evacuate 550 children suffering from cancer at the beginning of the war. They were first transferred to Poland and from there to other countries. With Books for Children, 100,000 books have been distributed in countries with Ukrainian refugees who could only take out a small suitcase with the essentials. And we pushed for a very important long-term national mental health program. 60% of Ukrainians feel psychological stress as a result of the war.
Traveling through Ukraine, the enormous suffering that the war is leaving is impressive. Almost anyone tells harsh stories of family breakdown, deaths, separations. When peace comes, what measures will have to be taken to heal these psychological wounds?
All this will leave many traces. The great project that I mentioned will analyze the specialists we have, the ones we are going to need and how we are going to train them. I am collaborating with the first ladies of the United States and Israel, who have experience in the post-traumatic treatment of families who have suffered wars. We have already promoted an online course with Israel for 100 psychologists and another 25 will receive training there to later train others in Ukraine. We need financial help for this project. Some will overcome the traumas and others will suffer consequences for a long time. It will be difficult to promote the program, because we are in the middle of a war, but we have to start now.
The EU has just accepted Ukraine as a candidate country for accession. What are the most urgent social reforms that Ukraine must undertake?
I am not a politician. In my position I do not have an opinion on certain things. My work focuses on the social sphere, outside the Government. But Ukraine has already been moving closer to the European Union for some time. We have been at the gates for quite some time. And in this we are different from Russia, where a few years ago family violence was decriminalized. Russia is totally outside the civilized world. In Ukraine, the human being is at the center of social policies. I am fighting to promote gender equality programs, against family violence, women's rights. All of that is in process.
There are young LGBTI Ukrainians fighting this war against a homophobic regime like Putin's. But in this country there is neither homosexual marriage nor civil unions and aggressions against members of the collective increase. What measures are necessary to advance their rights?
In Ukraine there is a lot of tolerance and freedom of expression, a much higher level than in our neighboring countries. But perhaps the political changes will come when society is more prepared to accept them. We are in the process of development, and all those human rights are also developing.
The war has also impacted the linguistic debate. Many Russian-speaking Ukrainians have reacted to Putin's bombshells by switching to Ukrainian. You and her husband come from a majority Russian-speaking city. But some people warn of the cultural loss caused by the gradual abandonment of Russian. To which model should Ukraine go?
In the city where we were educated, Russian was spoken, but in the surrounding villages, Ukrainian was used. I finished school in Russian, but when I entered the university in 1995 I already took classes in Ukrainian. We are not experiencing an abrupt transformation, because we have been an independent country since 1991. It has been more than 30 years of transformation. A country, a State, has its coat of arms and also its language. And here is the Ukrainian. You can speak any language in the family, but all Ukrainians understand and can speak Ukrainian. Now some do it as a form of protest. As always, Russia has achieved the opposite result to what it was looking for: trying to Russify us, it has Ukrainized us. Sometimes people say that change is very difficult for older people. But my mother, who is 70 years old and has always spoken Russian, is beginning to use Ukrainian at home.
Is the objective then to walk towards a monolingual country?
In a state like Ukraine there is one language, which is Ukrainian. All other languages have the right to be used. It's your choice. There are also millions of Ukrainians living in Russia, and there has never been a Ukrainian school there. When a Russian school in the Ukraine switched to Ukrainian, in Russia they protested saying it was discrimination. But if you fight for something, you have to be symmetrical. A Russian is worth as much in the Ukraine as a Ukrainian is in Russia.
The international community has reacted to the war by opening its doors to refugees and with economic aid. But in Ukraine they complain about the slowness in the arrival of weapons.
I'm not going to ask for weapons, it's not my battlefield [laughs]. We look forward to that help and assistance, and we appreciate all that we receive. We like to know that the world sees that our fight is fair. I want to thank all the accompaniment of these horrible months. No war belongs to others. It could happend to you.

Russia, Ukraine clash over bodies of military plane crash victims
Tumblr media
Russia and Ukraine are locked in a dispute about the bodies of people killed in the crash of a Russian military transport plane who Moscow says were Ukrainian prisoners of war.
A Ukrainian intelligence official said in televised remarks late on Thursday that Kyiv has urged Moscow to hand over the bodies of those killed in the January 24 crash, which Russia has blamed on Ukraine. He said Moscow has refused.

Andrii Yusov, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s military intelligence, reiterated Kyiv’s call for an international investigation into the crash over the Russian region of Belgorod to determine whether the cargo plane carried weapons or passengers along with the crew.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the state RIA Novosti news agency on Friday that the Kremlin hadn’t received a Ukrainian request to hand over the bodies.
Russia would not only welcome but also “insist” on an international inquiry into the plane’s downing, Putin said this week as he described the crash as a “crime” by Ukraine.
Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied that its forces downed the Ilyushin Il-76 plane that Russia says was carrying 65 Ukrainian POWs. Russia’s claim about the prisoners couldn’t be independently verified.
Russia’s Investigative Committee, its main state criminal investigation agency, said the plane was brought down by the US-made Patriot missile defence system, which Western allies have supplied to Kyiv for the war against Russia.
The committee said it has recovered 116 fragments of two missiles that were fired from a Patriot system near the village of Lyptsi in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, which sits on the other side of the border from Belgorod. It had a video that purported to show some missile fragments lying in the snow with markings said to prove their origin.
It also said it has identified all the crash victims.
Russian officials said there were 74 people on board – 65 Ukrainian POWs, six crew members and three Russian servicemen – all of whom were killed.
Despite the crash, the two countries completed a prisoner exchange on Wednesday, each swapping 195 POWs.
The war between Russia and Ukraine, which is nearing its two-year mark, continues to rage, with Russia carrying out long-range strikes on Ukraine with missiles and drones.
Ukraine on Thursday said it used sea drones to attack and destroy a Russian warship in the Black Sea near the Russian-annexed Crimean Peninsula.
In Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown, a drone strike damaged an energy facility, leaving 100,000 recipients without electricity and 113 coal miners stranded underground in two mines. Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of the central city’s defence council, said all the miners were brought to safety after power was partially restored.

[ad_1] Russian forces launched fresh attacks on several Ukrainian regions early on September 8, killing at least one person, local authorities said, as Kyiv claimed “partial success” near Bakhmut. A Russian missile attack killed at least one resident and wounded nine others in the central Ukrainian city of Kryviy Rih, regional Governor Oleh Lysak said. Lysak wrote on Telegram that the attack hit an administrative building, setting it on fire. "The fire covered 200 square meters," he said.Photos he shared showed a building with some of its facade completely destroyed while a huge blaze raced through it. Rescue workers can be seen in front of the building, trying to extinquish the fire. Russian forces also launched rocket attacks on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya and Sumy regions earlier in the day. Live Briefing: Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine RFE/RL's Live Briefing gives you all of the latest developments on Russia's full-scale invasion, Kyiv's counteroffensive, Western military aid, global reaction, and the plight of civilians. For all of RFE/RL's coverage of the war in Ukraine, click here. “In the morning, the enemy fired several rockets, targeting civilian infrastructure in the capital of the [Zaporizhzhya] region. All emergency services are now on the site,” Yuriy Malashko, the head of the regional military administration, wrote on Telegram. Malashko said at least one local resident was wounded in the attack on the city of Zaporizhzhya. There were no immediate reports of casualties from Sumy, where shelling destroyed a private house, according to the provincial military administration. The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces reported early on September 8 that its forces repelled Russian attacks on several towns and villages in the country’s east and south, including the Donetsk settlements of Lyman, Bakhmut, and Shakhtarsk. The military claimed “partial success” by Ukrainian forces in the south of Bakhmut, where troops “pushed the enemy out and reinforced their own positions.”The General Staff also said Ukrainian troops were making gradual progress in their southward advance toward the Sea of Azov.Russia’s Defense Ministry, meanwhile, claimed that its troops had repelled nine attempted Ukrainian advances south of Bakhmut.Battlefield reports cannot be independently verified. The reports come as Ukrainian forces focus on retaking Bakhmut, which was seized by Russian troops in May after months of intense fighting, reducing the city to ruins. Open-source researchers, meanwhile, said the missile that struck a market in the eastern town of Kostyantynivka on September 6 may have been an errant Ukrainian missile -- "a tragic accident" -- rather than a Russian strike as initially reported. Ruslan Leviev, who heads a respected Russian group called the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), said he reached his conclusions based on analysis of video footage of the attack. Leviev made the claim in a report aired on the YouTube channel of Russian journalist Maikl Naki.Last month, Leviev and Naki, who are not currently in Russia, were both sentenced in absentia to 11 years each in a penal colony by a Moscow court for distributing "fake" news about Russia's war in Ukraine. The same month, CIT was declared "undesirable" by Russian authorities. Ukrainian officials had not commented publicly on Leviev's claims as of September 8.Ukraine, which launched its counteroffensive in June, has rejected what critics in the Western media described as the campaign’s slow pace and questionable tactics. WATCH: At least 17 people were killed and many others were wounded on September 6 when a Russian missile struck a busy market in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka. RFE/RL correspondent Serhiy Horbatenko spoke to eyewitnesses at the scene of the attack. In a nightly video address on September 7, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked Ukrainian soldiers for what he described as “very, very effective results in destroying the occupiers.”"And results are precisely what Ukraine needs now from everyone,” the Ukrainian president said. Meanwhile, Russia's FSB security service said on September 8 that it had detained a man for allegedly plotting a rail bombing in Crimea. The FSB said the suspect -- a Russian citizen in his mid-40s -- had been "collecting information on the deployment of Russian defense ministry facilities and units" and was preparing a railway bombing. Ukraine war latest: Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih kills 6, injures 75, including children
Tumblr media
Key developments on July 31:
Russian missile strike hits apartment building in Kryvyi Rih, kills 6 and injures 75
Governor: 4 killed, 17 wounded in Russian attack on Kherson
Russia claims it deported 700,000 Ukrainian children
Ukraine reports repairing almost all thermal power stations damaged by Russia
US provides Ukraine with $1.25 billion grant to cover social assistance.
Russia launched a missile strike against Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on the morning of July 31, killing six people, including a 10-year-old child.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Serhii Lysak reported that as of 5:30 p.m. local time, the number of injured rose to 75. Kryvyi Rih Mayor Oleksandr Vilkul said eight children were among them.
Twenty-two people were hospitalized, and two are in serious condition, according to Lysak.
Russia attacked the city with two Iskander ballistic missiles, one of which targeted a nine-story residential building. Parts of its fourth to ninth floors were destroyed, the State Emergency Service reported.
Lysak said 150 residents escaped the apartment building on their own. The rescuers helped thirty people.
According to Lysak, another missile hit a four-story university building, destroying two of its floors and damaging two more.
"(Russian) missile hit the laboratory of an educational institution in Kryvyi Rih. A woman who worked here was killed. She was found under the rubble," Lysak wrote on Telegram at around 6:30 p.m.
“She became the sixth victim of Russian killers today,” he added.
The number of victims was finalized around 7 p.m. as Lysak reported that the rescue operation was completed.
“In grief, Ukrainians unite even more. How could you be indifferent when you see how Russian rockets take innocent lives?” he wrote on Telegram.
Later in the day, Vilkul wrote on Telegram that “more than 1,000 apartments and residential buildings were affected by the blast.” According to him, five medical institutions, 13 educational institutions, and a cultural institution were also affected.
“Despite any Russian terror, despite any attempts by Russia to blackmail the world, the combined strength of us – everyone in the world who values life — is enough to overcome evil,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address following the attack.
“We can not only defeat the terrorist state but also ensure that justice prevails when all those responsible for terror are held accountable. But for this, we need to increase our cooperation and pressure on the aggressor every day, every week, every month,” he said.
Kryvyi Rih, the second most populous city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, has been repeatedly targeted by Russian missile and drone strikes.

Russian shelling of Kherson kills 4, injures 17
Russian troops launched deadly attacks on the southern city of Kherson on July 31.
As a result of the strikes, four people were killed and 17 injured, including a 16-year-old girl, Presidential Office Head Andrii Yermak reported at 6 p.m. local time.
However, Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported that three civilians were killed. He said that one of the people killed and six of those wounded were employees of a local utility company. Five other injured were volunteers, according to the governor.
“They came under enemy fire while helping the Kherson people to eliminate the consequences of shelling and flooding,” he wrote on Telegram.
Russian troops targeted a utility company in the city center with a Grad multiple launch rocket system at around 8 a.m., reported Prokudin.
Another attack occurred at 1 p.m. when Russian forces targeted the Korabel district. The attack killed a 65-year-old man, Prokudin said. He added that a 38-year-old resident was hospitalized following the attack.
According to the governor, the intense shelling is due to Russia replenishing its forces on the east bank of the Dnipro River.
“Dear citizens of Kherson, please be as careful as possible in the next few days! These terrorists are firing at the whole city, and the shelling will continue!” he wrote on Telegram.
Kherson Oblast and the regional capital have been continuously subjected to Russian shelling since the liberation in November last year.

Russia claims it deported 700,000 Ukrainian children since Feb. 24 last year
Maria Lvova-Belova, Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights, claimed that 700,000 Ukrainian children have been brought to Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion.
She also claimed that about 4.8 million Ukrainians have been “accepted” into Russia and that most children arrived with their relatives. The numbers include 1,500 children who lived in orphanages or state institutions.
According to Belova, 288 children from the Russian-occupied part of Donetsk Oblast have been adopted into Russian families.
Russia’s forced deportation of Ukrainian children from occupied areas of Ukraine has become one of the darkest consequences of the full-scale war. In March, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russian official Maria Lvova-Belova for their involvement in the unlawful deportation of Ukrainian children.
Ukraine has identified over 19,500 children abducted from the occupied territories and sent to Russia since last February, according to a national database.
Only 386 children have been brought back to Ukraine as of July 31.
Following Lvova-Belova’s latest claim, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said Russia deports Ukrainian children to its territory or occupied Crimea “under the guise of good deeds, such as evacuation or vacation.”
“I emphasize once again that such actions are a crime, our children must return to their native land,” he wrote on Telegram.
“I call on the international community to pay attention to the crimes that Russia constantly commits against Ukrainian children and to take immediate measures to stop gross violations of international law,” he wrote.
Stolen generation. Russia systematically abducts children from Ukraine, gives them to Russian families

Ukraine reports repairing almost all thermal power stations damaged by Russia
On July 31, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov announced that almost 100% of thermal power stations damaged by Russian attacks late in 2022 and early in 2023 have been repaired in Ukraine.
The minister said the authorities are currently working on providing backup capacities in case of an emergency, adding that over 65% of more than 700 heat supply networks damaged by Russian attacks have also been repaired.
“In general, as of today, the preparation level of utility networks for stable operation in the autumn-winter period of 2023-2024 is roughly 60%,” the minister wrote on social media, adding that Ukraine will be 100% ready in technical terms before the start of the next heating season on Oct. 1.
Russian forces attempted to destroy Ukraine’s energy network with massive strikes during the fall of 2022 and winter of 2023, leading to frequent blackouts across the country.
Zelensky recently warned that Russia would likely attempt this strategy again next winter.
Former NATO envoy to Moscow: ‘Potential escalation with Russia is a myth’
The West failed to understand the Russian regime before the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Robert Pszczel, the former NATO envoy to Moscow from 2010-2015, said on the sidelines of the Warsaw International Summit in Kyiv on July 7. Once the punching bag of Russian propagandists during his appearances on…

US provides Ukraine with $1.25 billion grant to cover social assistance
On July 31, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry announced that the country’s state budget had received a grant of $1.25 billion from the U.S. through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund of the World Bank.
According to the ministry, the funding will be used to cover social assistance for internally-displaced persons (IDP), people with disabilities, low-income families, and other social payments.
This is the fifth package provided to Ukraine under the Public Expenditures of Administrative Capacity Endurance, PEACE, in Ukraine, designed to support Ukraine’s social and humanitarian expenditures.
The ministry said Ukraine had received $8.45 billion in direct budget support from the U.S. since the beginning of the year.
The U.S. has provided a total of $20.4 billion in grant funding since the beginning of the all-out invasion.
