I have finally gotten around to watching The Last of Us (amazing show! surprisingly queer as well!) and now I'm onto the enormous narrative universe of The Walking Dead.
Yes, a zombie apocalypse hyperfixation might be entering the chat. Yes, I am working on a TLOUxSprolden AU drawing

"A group representing women affected by an infamous bathhouse raid is questioning the appointment of Myron Demkiw as Toronto Police chief.
In an open letter, which was provided to the Star, members of the Toronto Women’s Bathhouse committee, who were subjected to the raid of the popular Pussy Palace event for queer women and trans people at a rented bathhouse on Mutual St. in 2000, say they oppose Demkiw’s promotion because of his involvement in the operation.
“In your two year hiring process, the communities you consulted told you that they have significant concerns about police accountability,” the letter sent Tuesday to Mayor John Tory and Toronto Police Services Board chair Jim Hart. “What message does the appointment of an officer who has been directly involved in a breach of civil liberties send to those communities?”
Demkiw was then a member of the service’s now disbanded vice squad when he and four other male officers carried out a raid that an Ontario judge would later call a “flagrant” violation of charter rights.
The ticketed and licensed Pussy Palace events were intended to be a sex-positive, safe space for members of the LGBTQ2S+ community to meet, drink and play.
“With the appointment of Mr. Demkiw, Mayor John Tory and the TPS board have shown that they have little interest in meaningful action on the concerns raised by historically oppressed communities regarding unchecked police power,” the letter says.
The chief position is selected by the Toronto Police Services Board, of which Tory has been a member since he was first elected in 2014."

With the recent announcement from the UK government that they are going to be doing 2 weeks of mass immigration raids across the UK. This is for their illegal and fucked plan to send refugees and migrants to Rwanda. It us more important than ever that people who are against this know what to do if they see an immigration raid. There are several lovely images of what to do if you see an immigration raid in progress as well as what your rights are.
You do not have to disclose anything to immigration enforcement officers. You do not have to show them your passport. You do not have to tell them your immigration status.
No human is illegal, everyone is welcome here.

A mayoral candidate who is pro-cop happened to be sitting at the table next to ours during lunch at the hotel restaurant
We were talking with one of mom's coworkers about the view from our hotel windows and how we could see town hall and she could see CN Tower
And I was like, oh man, I could hang out our window and give the mayor the finger! Then Mom reminded me that the mayor stepped down/retired and we don't really have one right now, and I don't have beef with the interim mayor (don't know her tbh)
Anyway. Through all this I had no idea the mayoral candidate in question was at the next table. Until Mom made the mistake of pointing him out
And I was like. Cool! I can give HIM the finger!!
And mom was like, no, don't - you don't even know his stances. Oh by the way he likes cops.
And I was like "THEN I REALLY NEED TO GIVE HIM THE FINGER WHICH ONE IS HE" cuz there was more than one guy at the table
She wouldn't tell me.
But her coworker was like, "He's the one in the white shirt"
😈
...
I managed to resist, tho. Somehow.
It would probably not be cool to get us kicked out of the hotel on the first day of a week-long conference

So the YA dystopia I started writing at 13 has a lot of problems that need rewrites if I ever choose to do anything with it but the literal dumbest one is that I had this uniquely British lib brain rot at the time that guns are bad and should never be used. Weapons were fine but these bitches were fighting for their lives and were using swords despite having just as easy access to modern artillery. It wasn't an issue with violence or taking lives it was just guns because "Americans use guns and mass shootings happen" as though that is in any way applicable to the scenario it was discussing. Yes common sense gun reform is an important legislative issue in the states but bestie facing off against genocidal super soilders is not the time to die on that hill. There was absolutely no issue discussed with the ethics of stabbing and neck snapping hordes of faceless villains just as long as they weren't shot by a pistol.

kate rightfully deserves all the fanfare and love she's getting for stepping back into confident whistler mode to win her girl back, but without lucy pushing through and admitting she loved kate, there is likely no chance of romantic reconciliation between them
if 1x20 ends with "you ruined everything, you broke my heart into a million pieces," it's a sign to kate and the audience that the hurt is insurmountable, that lucy will always associate kate with pain and anger, that she’ll always see kate as the person who broke her, but instead she confesses "I loved you, Kate"
maybe because she wants kate to feel the level of hurt she’s feeling or really understand the magnitude of what they’ve lost or maybe she just can’t hold it in anymore, but the confession is what makes everything click into place for kate and what gives her the resolve to chase after lucy and fight to salvage this, makes her think ‘hey lucy did something huge admitting that to me after everything that’s happened and i have to show her the same effort and honesty” even if it means stepping out of her comfort zone and making a grand gesture in front of everybody they work with
it's about two people finally being brave enough to put themselves fully out there, to be completely open and utterly vulnerable to the person who's most capable of destroying them and deciding to meet each other halfway regardless because its worth it and you love them
