I am assuming you are the same person who asked me this and the animal question, and I'm going to be honest, I'm not answering them. It sounds sus, and they are legit security questions that many companies use to protect various accounts and I'm not going to give that information out.

I wasn't even going to answer, but decided I should in case I have Tumblr mutuals who are receiving the same anon messages with the friendly reminder of "please be careful regarding the personal information you give out on the internet!"

It turns out my kid is between slightly and severely allergic to various tree nuts, which means I have literally in an instant transformed into Allergy Mom. Fortunately I've been accommodating people's dietary restrictions since adolescence and am not a jerk, so that's all right. But I can now look forward to at least 11 years of opportunity to judge other people who are (or may be) jerks. Great.

Thinking about it today... Moody's "Constant Vigilance" state of mind is a very difficult one to live with.

And while in "Harry Potter" this unmerciful imperative was directed at the reality of war in the Wizarding World, the real world's current social atmosphere and the increasingly hostile interactions between people even without being in a state of war - religiously, ideologically, politically, sexually motivated - make my ears ring with Moody's "advice". No matter if it is a friend or a foe I must deal with, I feel that without being constantly on alert to watch out so that no one may hurt or harm me, withiut holding the steering wheel firmly in my hands, I will lose myself to others. The innocence of the early years of childhood and teenage years is definitely gone.

This is, if anything, one of the central points where I identify with Severus Snape (and hence hold on to this fandom, as an escape while not actually being one, since it reflects much of my inner reality). One doesn't have to walk the same path to understand how it feels to lose one's innocent outlook on life and others, to lose trust, to experience gut-wrenching failure to the extent of wishing one's own existence away, to know what it's like to be betrayed, and used and left behind. And still cling to some sort of hope or at least, redemption...

Spent a couple of weeks on my tiny twitter while fussing abt a fic update, and felt my mental health sliding down that mudhill like a greased seal.

i got scammed on reddit over concert tickets. disappointed in myself, but also moving forward knowing i learned a very valuable lesson: i'm online for a good time, but not everyone is.

If wands are a conduit for magical energy, then ‘the business end of a wand’ is factually wrong and handles are false advertising and thus even holding out a wand handle-first still doesn’t mean they are disarming themselves.

One could argue that having a wand touch your skin at all could be considered you being armed then if you’re focused enough on how your magic can move through and from you (and not thinking about Wandless magic).

We'll never be rid of anti-lgbtq+ narratives, the homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia, the ignorance, all of it, if we don't stamp down on the discourse which seeps into the community and poisons it from within.

This discourse is purposely planted by those who want to see us (queer people) all dead (I'mnot beating around the bush and just coming out with it, bigot's feelingsbe damned). We have to stamp down on it right off the bat, otherwise it'll fester forever more in the cracks and crevices within the community, and hold us all back.

Unfortunately it is pervasive in the online spaces. We need to be informed, ready to pounce on the bollocks narratives which spin up from alt accounts and bigoted sources. Constant vigilance!

Otherwise we'll be set back another decade or more due to the rise of the far right.
