I think im in love with a girl who is pure sunshine. I only see her once a week and weekend a month, but she is so magnetic. Imagine the type of person you expect the perfect camp counselor to be, full of energy, constantly coming up with ideas if fun things to do. She has friendship bracelets she never takes off and a naalgine that is covered in stickers from places shes been to. I have so many pictures of her where shes just so radiant.

PAPEL ESPRESSO - DEVASA+
Tumblr media
As a home barista, investing in high-quality espresso tools can significantly improve the quality of your espresso shots. One such tool that has gained popularity in recent years is the Best WDT tool, or the Weiss Distribution Technique tool. The WDT tool is designed to evenly distribute coffee grounds in the portafilter basket, resulting in a more consistent and flavorful espresso shot. By breaking up clumps and ensuring even distribution, the WDT tool can prevent channeling and improve extraction. Its compact size also makes it a convenient tool for on-the-go brewing, with some models measuring as small as a lipstick. While the WDT tool is a valuable tool for home baristas, it is not the only tool that can improve espresso quality. Another popular tool is the espresso scale, which allows for precise measurement of coffee grounds and water. While the scale can aid in achieving consistency in espresso shots, it does not address the issue of uneven distribution, which the WDT tool can effectively solve. In comparison, the WDT tool can provide a more comprehensive solution to achieving a consistently high-quality espresso shot. When it comes to choosing the best WDT tool espresso, the Lelit Mara X stands out as a top contender. This fully adjustable tool allows for customization based on the number, shape, and strength of needles, as well as the overall material. Its thinner 10+10 needles, made of food-safe stainless steel and measuring 0.35mm in diameter, are the perfect size to break up clumps and ensure even distribution. Additionally, the Lelit Mara X is designed to be the last WDT espresso you will ever need, with its durability and adjustability. Investing in high-quality tools like the Lelit Mara X can significantly improve the quality of your espresso shots, making your home brewing experience more enjoyable and rewarding.

To top it off, an EZ-tab integrated into the rear of the slide makes it even easier to pull. The CSX slide serrations are smooth when being drawn from a holster, yet when pulling the slide, they feel aggressive and are easy to grab. They remind me of the scales on a snake or fish - rub them one way and it’s smooth as silk, but go the other way and they catch on your hand. Slide serrations are located rear and front. The magazine release can be swapped out for the included left-handed one. The thumb safety and slide catch are bilateral for right- and left-handed shooters. The CSX has an aluminum alloy frame with polymer grip inserts. The ejection port is chamfered to prevent snags when drawing from a holster and features a large, heavy-duty extractor for reliable case extraction from the chamber. A loaded chamber indicator hole straddles where the slide meets the chamber hood. The top of the slide has serrations running lengthwise to cut down on glare and to help lead the eye to the front sight when acquiring a target. The slide is stainless steel with an Armornite finish. I’m happy to see S&W didn’t include one in the design of the CSX. Not only that, but it isn’t logical to go out of your way to buy a micro-compact carry gun and then make it larger and clunky with accessories. An accessory rail is an invitation to mount accessories, which, on a carry gun, can snag when drawn from the holster. The trigger guard is undercut to facilitate a high grip as well.Īnother noticeable feature - or lack thereof - is the absence of an accessory rail on the dustcover. It takes on even more importance with today’s modern practice of attaining as high of a grip as possible. The CSX sports a beavertail, which is important for a hammer-fired gun in preventing hammer bite and/or slide bite. Here it is with the extended 12-round magazine. The Smith & Wesson CSX is an all-metal, hammer-fired micro-9. The fine, rounded lines and smooth edges give it a grace that one could get lost in. However, with the palm swell grip installed, the CSX has an aesthetic that’s almost like a work of art. The aluminum alloy frame has a groove machined into it for the palm swell grip, so with the smaller backstrap installed, the groove is visible, giving the gun an “unfinished” look. One backstrap has a palm swell grip, the other is just the backstrap (a grip removal tool is included). The frame is constructed of aluminum alloy with a textured polymer front strap and interchangeable textured polymer back straps. In fact, it’s about an ounce lighter than the original Shield and only about an ounce heavier than the Shield 2.0, mostly because of the aluminum alloy frame. I was intrigued by it being all metal, and did I mention it looks sexy? Once I finally got one and picked it up, the first thought I had was that it felt very light - I was expecting it to be heavier considering that it’s all-metal. The CSX generated a lot of buzz when it was released, and it sure caught my eye. But that’s exactly what S&W did with the metal-framed, single-action, hammer-fired CSX. It’s not every day a major gun manufacturer introduces a new micro-compact carry gun that’s not striker-fired with a polymer frame. S&W flexed some old-school muscle at the 2022 SHOT Show when they introduced the new CSX micro-compact pistol. A modern take on old-school metal and hammer

Found in the polar Arctic regions of North America, Europe, and Asia, the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) is perfectly equipped for life below zero. This carnivore reduces its exposure to winter weather through a variety of adaptations, including compact body size, small ears, and short limbs. But the Arctic fox is also a seasonal fashionista. During winter, this species sports a dense coat of white fur that helps insulate it from the cold. Did you know? It can withstand temperatures of up to −90°F (-67.8°C). By comparison, frostbite can affect humans at temperatures below 31°F (-0.6°C)!

summary: you’re starting to feel a little insecure among the other women in the bau, but spencer notices and silences your worries
cw: female!reader, kissing, fluff, cheesy writing, like one sexual innuendo from derek ( what’s new ? ), mutual pinning, insecurities, anxiety, comparisons of looks to others, 925, spencer reid x reader
<3
you sit at your desk in the bustling bau office, surrounded by the brilliant minds and gorgeous faces that make up the team. as you sift through case files and organize data, you can't help but feel a subtle twinge of insecurity. the women in the bau are a formidable force – confident, competent, and effortlessly balancing the demands of the job with their own personal charm.
emily prentiss exudes authority, her presence commanding respect. jj effortlessly juggles motherhood and her role in the unit, displaying a poise you can't help but admire. penelope garcia's vibrant personality seems to light up the room, and you wonder if your more reserved nature fits into this dynamic team.
amidst the collective intelligence and strength, you find yourself questioning your place. your eyes wander to the mirror on your desk, and for a moment, you scrutinize your reflection. the nagging thought that you don't quite measure up to the elegance and confidence of your female colleagues lingers in the back of your mind.
as the day progresses, you try to focus on the tasks at hand, pushing aside the self-doubt that threatens to overshadow your abilities. spencer reid, the brilliant and socially awkward genius, that you love, is engrossed in his work on the other side of your adject desks. you've always admired his intellect, the way his mind operates on a different plane, and you’ve shamelessly loved him ever since you’d first met.
the team engages in discussions, exchanging ideas and theories. spencer, as usual, offers his insights with a level of eloquence that captivates everyone in the room. yet, in the midst of the professional banter, you can't shake the feeling that you fall short in comparison. you not only feel as though your mind can’t contribute the same thoughts and helpful comments as the rest of the team but you feel a tinge of insecurity toward your appearance. the way you look is far from beauty standards, you try to put on make-up but it never turns out to look like emily, jj, or penelope’s.
in a rare moment of respite, you find yourself alone near the coffee machine where you pull out your compact and check your reflection in the mirror. the longer you look at yourself, the more flaws you seem to find, and the more you think about the group’s discussions, the more judgment you feel toward yourself.
spencer notices you from the doorway and he frowns before proceeding any closer. when you finally notice him grabbing himself a fresh cup of coffee, you snap your compact closed as if you’ve been caught. spencer glances at you, his expression kind but perceptive. "everything okay?" he asks, his tone gentle.
you hesitate for a moment, then decide to be honest. "I don't know, spencer. I can't help but feel a bit out of place sometimes. I mean, look at the other women in the bau. they're all so... confident and put together. I don't know if I fit in."
spencer furrows his brow, considering your words carefully. "you know, I used to feel the same way when I first joined the bau. I was the youngest, and everyone seemed so sure of themselves. but confidence isn't always about how put together someone is. it's about knowing your worth and embracing your differences."
his words resonate with you, and for a moment, the weight on your shoulders seems to lift. "but look at them," you gesture towards your female colleagues and spencer follows your gaze, "they are all so... stunning. I can't help but feel like I don't quite measure up." you admit sheepishly and spencer immediately understands your insecurity.
spencer's eyes soften, and he offers a small, understanding smile. "beauty is subjective, and everyone has their own unique qualities. it's not just about appearances; it's about the way you carry yourself, your intelligence, your kindness. you have your own charm, and you're more than enough just the way you are." spencer explains, hesitantly touching your shoulder and softly rubbing up and down. his reassurance is like a soothing balm, calming the storm of self-doubt that rages within you. the way he sees beyond the surface, acknowledging your strengths, makes you feel valued in a way you hadn't anticipated.
“thank you, spence.” you whisper, turning to face him with a hint of a smile.
"you're an incredible person," spencer states, his voice sincere as he nods his head at your thanks. "and I'm grateful to have you as a colleague and a friend."
you can’t help but smile, feeling a warmth in your chest. spencer's acknowledgment goes beyond professional; it speaks of the genuine connection between the two of you. a connection that often brought constant teasing from other members of the bau team. you know you aren’t really just friends, but you enjoy spencer’s statement nonetheless.
“let’s go loverbirds, you’ve been on break for long enough,” derek calls from just outside the doorway, “plenty of time to do whatever you were doing.” he adds, wiggling his eyebrows at the two of us.
spencer’s face turns beat red while you roll your eyes with a smile tugging at your lips. you then lean up to give spencer a quick kiss on his jaw and whisper another quick thank you. you turn on your heel and walk out the door, turning one last time to see spencer’s mouth slightly agape and cheeks even rosier than before. you smile to yourself, now knowing that you have no reason to be insecure, and spencer helped you realize that.

Coriolanus Snow's character is so fascinating to me.
At the movie's beginning, he is just this sweet boy, just trying to protect his family, keep them alive, and protect his tribute and keep her alive. And you adore him, and you're rooting for him; by the time you get to the end of the movie, he's slowly twisted everything around, until suddenly, he's not the person you thought he was, and even though you saw glimpses of that person, he's gone now, and you don't like what's left.
The thing I love is that you can see the inner fight that was there all along, the darker side is represented a lot by how Coriolanus is similar to his father and connects back to his past. He gives up pieces of that person throughout the games where Lucy Grey is his tribute, sacrificing them in the form of a handkerchief (a piece of his dad) that has the potential to implicate him in a crime that would cost him his life, but also the potential to grant Lucy Grey hers. You can see it in the way he gives her his dead mother's compact full of rat poison. In the way he cheats to save her, even with the knowledge that he won't gain anything from it. You can see it in the way that he lets her in on secrets he's guarded so fiercely from his capital friends. Living in a world where he has almost no control.
He also has close zero regard for the people in the arena with whom he has no connection. He convinces a classmate to help kill her tribute to save his, and he tells Tigress he felt powerful killing a little boy (a feeling she connected back to his dad). Things that grow smaller in comparison to his love for Lucy Grey, the affection he shows for Sejanus, the way he cares for his family, and the relationship he has with Tigress.
It's in the second part of the movie that things start to go awry. he gets his father's handkerchief and his mother's compact back. along with those pieces of himself. His hair is buzzed, and he's shipped away from his family, who were the original motivation for everything, most importantly the motivation behind befriending Lucy Grey. He has nothing. Seajanus ends up joining him and they go together to District 12, where he has even less control than he did before.
Coriolanus stands by while an innocent man hangs. He holds Sejanus back from stopping it to keep him safe. He gets in a fight with Lucy Grey's cheating ex. His best friend gets him out. He gives Lucy Grey the last piece of his parents he has with him. He gives the girl he loves all of his trust. He betrays Sejanus to the capital. He tries to protect his best friend. He kills a woman, putting them all in danger. He killed her to keep them safe. It's his fault Sejanus hangs for treason. His best friend cries for him right before he dies. He runs away with Lucy Grey to keep himself safe. He runs away with his lover so they can be together. He lies about Sejanus's death, so Lucy Grey leaves him. He lies about his best friend's death, to keep his love with him.
He abandons his friend and is abandoned by his lover because of it. He breaks trust, and so his trust is broken.
He gets all the pieces of himself back with his mother's shawl Lucy Grey leaves for him to find.
He had so many opportunities to be good, and you could see that he was fighting against the worst part of himself. And yet, you can also see him fighting less and less as time goes on, eventually, once he gets all of the pieces back he stops fighting. He goes back to the capitol, prepared to do whatever it takes to gain control. He's not a victim of circumstances or his childhood, Tigress proves that. But he is a victim of the choices he had to make.
Coriolanus Snow is such a complex character, who is shaped by his own choices, and the people in his life, who he can never really escape, the echoes of which will follow him throughout his whole life.

So I'm annoyed at a collage of minidiscs ending up in my timeline because I follow "diskette" but that's not important...
You know how weird the etymology of "diskette" is?
So, it's a portmanteau of "disk" and "cassette".
Disk as in "a round flat thing", and it's the American spelling, because the diskette was invented by IBM, an American company. Disk (usually spelled "disc" in commonwealth countries) comes from the Greek dískos, as in "discus", the circular thing you throw for sport.
And floppy disks are primarily a circle of magnetic material. That's actually how they were first conceived, as a flexible version of the rigid metal magnetic circles used in hard drives. But they quickly realized that it was impossible to keep them clean: fingerprints and dust stick to the surface too easily, ruining them. So they were given a vinyl (and later, plastic) jacket, so they could be safely carried around.
And thus, diskette was coined. Sometimes you'll see it etymologized as "small disk", like a disk-ette, but that's wrong: it's a portmanteau with cassette. Because cassettes were made by taking reel to reel magnetic tape and putting it in a small case, so they can be quickly and reliably loaded.
And why are cassettes called that? Well, it's French. But in French it's quite simple: it's the diminutive of "casse", which means case. It's a little case. You put the tape in a little box. It's a cassette.
So similarly, diskette was made by cassettizing "disk". You put the disk in a little case. It's a disk cassette, a diskette.
This sort of thinking also explains why they're called "floppy disks" when they've been hard plastic since 1984: it's just like how we call cassettes "tapes". They're not tape, they're a little plastic box containing tape. Tape is a thin flexible thing that you wrap around a spool, not a little plastic box. But we call them "tapes"/"a tape" as synecdoche: a part is used to represent the whole. It's a "tape", fittingly because the tape is the important part. It's the part that stores the audio, the rest is just packaging to keep it safe and reliable.
Floppy disks are similarly called such: the floppy part is the magnetic disk inside the vinyl or plastic case. We're calling the whole package by the part that actually stores the data.
And in any case, they were named as such in comparison to "hard disks": the metal or glass surfaces used by hard drives.
Anyway, three final things:
1. You ever wonder why it's Floppy Disk but optical discs? You have a DVD* disc or a CD (compact disc), not a DVD Disk or Compact Disk. I already basically explained it: floppies were invented in the US, and compact discs came from a Philips/Sony partnership: a Dutch/Japanese partnership. So they used the commonwealth spelling, thus it became a standard to refer to optical media as "discs".
2. My favorite silly floppy fact comes from this sort of thing: so the first floppies were 8", then the 5.25" model was invented, and in 1981 we got the 3.5" floppy. These are by far the three most common floppy disks, and those are their names, used nearly** universally in English.
But here's the thing: one of them is wrong.
8 inch floppy disks? They're eight inches even. 5.25 inch floppy disks? They're 5.25 inches even.
3.5" disks are actually 3.543"!
This is for the same reason why we have disk vs disc for floppy and optical media: 8" disks were invented by IBM, an American company. 5.25" disks were invented by Shugart/Wang, both American companies.
3.5" disks were invented by Sony, a Japanese company. They're not 3.5" disks... They're 90mm disks!
But it was already the standard in English that floppy disk formats get called by their size in inches, so it has always been called the 3.5" disk, because that's close enough for jazz.
3. to get back to the first point of this post: minidiscs aren't diskettes. Diskette is for disks, and minidiscs are discs. They're not flexible, they're rigid: minidiscs are actually magneto-optical discs, where there's a small plastic disc like a CD, which is read by a laser but written by a magnetic read head. Since they have to be rigid for the laser to work, they're (rigid) discs, not (flexible) disks. They are confusing, I agree: usually magnetic media is disk, while optical is disc, and disks have cases, while discs are just a plastic circle... But minidiscs are magnetic AND optical, and they're optical but inside a case. They're one of those exceptions that makes taxonomy so difficult. (they're very trans in that way, imo)
* I intentionally didn't expand out the acronym DVD, because the fun fact is about that is that DVD is not an acronym. Not anymore. It was originally supposed to be Digital Video Disc, but the later Digital Versatile Disc to better reflect the non-video uses of the disc, but apparently the official meaning of the acronym is now that it just is the name of the disc. It's a DVD: it doesn't stand for anything.
** one exception to the "universally called by their sizes in English" that I'm aware of is South Africa. For Reasons they just called the 5.25" disks "floppies", and then when 3.5" disks came around, they called them... "stiffies". Yes, this is hilarious. They know.
