It'll be fair to say that I made a mistake by ascribing Stockholm syndrome to US!Sans :'0 I was sure that he got all the main symptoms by trying to help Error, but here comes a debunking post ☆

So yeah, this pretty liar and manipulator got to fool not only his kidnapper but me as well :'D

This applies mainly to the canon story (so as not to distort it by wrong conclusions), and luckily doesn't reflect much on this far-from-canon one <3

I'm in the process of developing my style for drawing these guys. Started with a small change in my approach to their eyes and liking the improvement so far! :>

A few years ago (probably during the pandemic or right before) on Tumblr i saw a post about heating up Dr. Pepper in a sauce pan as a sort of winter hot drink. And i was fascinated by the idea of it. I'm not really that into Dr. Pepper or even most soda overall. I like it but nothing too crazy. But i enjoy hot drinks, especially in the winter. Something about it is so cozy and really makes me feel more in the present. So i was interested in this idea, but i didn't want too much. So my parents were by one day and asked if i wanted anything when they went out, and i said "yeah could you get me just one bottle or can of Dr Pepper?"

And they actually couldn't find it, so the next time they asked, I asked again for it. And this time they got it. But this was the pandemic at this point, and i hate our tap water, and we ran low on drinks and the grocery delivery was a few days away, so i ended up drinking the Dr. Pepper as it was, because I wasn't in a great place and i wasn't about to get out a sauce pan and deal with all that just for a stupid drink.

The groceries were already ordered, so it was too late to add on. So when my parents stopped by again to ask if i needed anything while I sheltering in place with my grandmother, I asked again for Dr. Pepper. Because i wanted to try this stupid drink. But there wasn't any at the store a few times, at least not single bottles, and i couldn't order them single when i did the weekly order.

Eventually i did get ahold of another Dr. Pepper, but it was the summer, and i ended up just drinking it as it was. And i didn't ask again and i didn't try again. I gave up. I didn't want that stupid Hot Pepper anyway.

But then a funny thing happened. I'd spent the last year's worth of interactions with my parents mentioning Dr. Pepper. So by the time Christmas came, I wound up with a bunch of Dr Pepper-themed presents. Did you know they make a Dr. Pepper flavored lip balm? I didn't know they make a Dr. Pepper flavored lip balm. But i have some now. Keychains, too, and other ephemera. When my parents want to get me a special treat they get me a Dr. Pepper.

I still haven't had the hot drink and i still don't like Dr. Pepper that much. But it's too hard to explain how we got to this point.

So basically, when the fandom latches onto a food as being a character's favorite, like Sans drinking ketchup... I get it. I feel it. I understand. The man probably hates ketchup.
