While reading this interview with a West Bank settler, it's important to remember her views do not represent those of all Israelis just like Israel does not represent all Jews. There has been sizeable protest in Tel Aviv against the genocide (quickly squashed under Netanyahu’s police force just like all other pro-palestinian sentiment) but it’s worth reading to get insight into the minds of average people who cheer on Palestinian deaths, and draw up a chair to watch hellfire rain down on innocents. This is the impact of years of settler-colonial propaganda - a complete dehumanisation of a scapegoat population.
It also has to be said that ALL colonialist countries are complicit in encouraging this kind of extremism, by facilitating and stoking the fires of islamophobia post-9/11. Israel is not an outlier - this kind of sentiment is festering EVERYWHERE and attempting to detach yourself and your country's identity from it is like burying your head in the sand.
If you stand on the side of Palestinians in this crisis, you have to be prepared to recognise the signs of islamophobia and fascism everywhere, and stand against them.

Astarion Ancunin and Tyrus Aman’del after killing Cazador and (un-) living their best (un-) lives adventuring and exploring the world.
Since both once mentioned how good the other would look in their respective outfits, Tyrus naturally gifts his lover the sun-protecting Cloak of Dragomir (since he is the only one who can wear that dusty rag with grace), while Astarion fulfils his dream of putting silver elven chainmail on his lover. + braiding his beautiful white hair at every opportunity. After all, his necromancer husband should be properly protected - while being as pretty as possible.
This scenario is definitely what will happen at the end of @asterdurge fanfic Perfect Slaughter! I cannot be convinced otherwise!!

Not to say I'm cooking but I might be cooking
(Note: in this context, 'cooking' refers to 'combining 2 crochet patterns to make a cooler pattern, ie a hooded cloak consisting of butterfly stitches)

do yall ever think about how weird wash's fight scene in s12 is? specifically, that moment where he does that sideways flip while shooting (I believe) at felix? like wash is an enjoyer of combat rolls, my man is always rolling, but that one flip is a flashy, and dare I say, unnecessary move for wash to use.
I also find it interesting that they had him use his sidearm instead of his battle rifle, since in previous cqc situations wash has always used blades or blade like objects such as the epsilon unit. the only times I recall him using a magnum off the top of my head is when he shot south in s6, when he shot donut in s8, and when he threatened carolina in s10. if wash busting out his magnum, it's always symbolic of him letting some part of his personal feelings guide his actions, because shooting someone with a sidearm meant for close range is more intimate than using his primary mid/long range weapon.
this was obviously not the case in the s12 fight, and they probably did it just because it looked cool, but idk that's my random wash thought of the day.

I haven't been out in public much due to taking a year off from school and not being able to work. I've been watching the news around the i/p conflict from indoors and have admittedly been reluctant to look at my states numbers.
So, i finally decided to take a look at the ADL's H.E.A.T. Map and uh...
Florida's had a huge rise in white supremacist propaganda and antisemetic hate crimes since the start of 2023. I figured there would be, since the backlash against the global jewry has been particularly volatile both on and offline. But i hadn't checked the local numbers until now.
We are one of the few states into the 100+ range and that's particularly horrifying. If we look into the specific numbers, we have:
123 antisemitic incidents, with a majority being vandalism and harassment. A number of these incidents occurred with white supremacist movement (propaganda being spread as well as gatherings).
I know everyone's probably exhausted. But i just want to point out some of the hotspots: Orlando (17 incidents), West Palm Beach (10), Boca Raton (7), Fort Lauderdale (4), and Miami (6).
Thankfully, my city has not had any, and I hope that remains.
I don't know enough about the conflict to say anything more than this: I want jews and palestanians to be safe. I want them to have an ability to govern themselves and not be infringed upon or attacked. I don't want more people to die, on either side.
And, it is not "decolonization" to suggest that an entire civilian population be destroyed for the wrongdoings of their government.
We can call for the dismantling of Israel's government all we want, but THIS here only proves what others have said: the diaspora is too unsafe. This is what is used to reinforce the notion that Israel is necessary at all costs.
We cannot call for deconstruction without being willing to address the rampant white supremacy and antisemitism throughout the US and most of Europe. We can't keep kicking jews out of their homes.
You can't support a free Palestine then use antisemitism as a bludgeon, and expect that to somehow save them.
Focus more on combating antisemitism in your area and generating support for Palestinian relief.
Check out: Palestine Red Crescent Society to support Gaza, especially in providing medical relief.
Learn about antisemitism: Antisemitism Uncovered to understand its forms and prevent an increase of it in the diaspora.

This is part of an AU that is quickly sprawling far in my notes, technically sorta inspired by @artistwholikescookies role reversal AU from a few years ago, in that the Nektons are cryptids and aren't connected to the WOA at all. They still use a sub even though they're mer-shifters because the sub makes keeping the artefacts they find a lot easier.
I'm also writing a fic to go with this piece, which shows Kaiko and Will's wedding, specifically the ritual spell that gave Kaiko a scale-cloak of her own to transform into a mermaid (note the scales on Will's robe and the lack of them on Kaiko's, hers is still just fabric).
Will, canonically an ex-olympic swimmer, is built for speed in his mer-form. Kaiko is spiky and venomous because I like her comic characterisation best and comic Kaiko, who charges boats at docks and pushes people overboard, would totally be something built to fight as a mermaid. Fontaine, who I already have a sketch of that I'll work on tomorrow, takes after her father in that she's also fairly streamlined as a mer. Ant looks kinda like Jeffrey but with a pair of tentacles for extra shenaniganising and to hold things while he's inventing.
