bonus info + headcanons:
when immy was four years old she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, her older brother donated his bone marrow to save her life.
when she and her brother were in hospital undergoing surgery their parents ended up in a tragic and fatal car accident which left her older brother as her guardian
she's classically trained in piano and has been playing since she was seven years old. she started playing guitar when she was thirteen and writing/singing her own songs since she was sixteen.
she studied music production and sound engineering at luminary arts college.
she had a messy break up 6 months ago with her ex michael knight (currently npc), he was ten years older then her and they met in the LA music scene. their relationship had started when she was eighteen but wasn't public until she was nineteen. their relationship was already toxic for so many reasons but over the course of their relationship her career was really starting to take off as she was selling records and touring the country. the more popular immy became the more michael resented her for it. he was cheating on her for some time and their break up was a little too public for immy's liking.
throughout her relationship with mikey, immy relied heavily on alcohol as a coping mechanism. the alcohol helped numb everything and made it easier to be with him. although since their relationship ended her dependency has dropped dramatically, she's been sober for three months and is finally starting to write more music after their breakup.
part two: questionnaire.
start at the beginning, who are you and why are you important?"gosh me?" dark eyes widened before her lips curled up into a bright smile. shrugging her shoulders before she continued. "i'm just immy, you know i'm only as important as the people around me. yeah, i play music but only because people listen."
how long have you been making music?"fuck like... forever." there was a small giggle that fell from her lips before she decided to clarify. "well, i mean making my own music for the past seven or eight years but i've always been a musician my whole life."
how would you describe the kind of music you make?"um, that's honestly a little bit hard to say right now." her dark brows furrowed for the moment as she stared off trying to figure out how to convey what she meant. "i think right now more than ever my music is evolving, i took a six month break from writing just so i could really figure out for myself what kind of music i wanted to make. you know without the influences of anybody else around me. so yeah it's always been a particular flavour combination of like indie, alternative, poppy styles. i just think i'm about to get a lot more experimental with my sound."
who are some of your biggest musical influences?"you know when i think about musical influences i always come back to women in music. like i'd say theres an infinite number of artists that i like or love and i'm sure i take inspiration from so many of them but when i'm thinking about people who make the kind of music that inspires me and made me go 'i wanna do that too', always women. alanis morissette, amy winehouse, florence and the machine, fiona apple, regina spektor. but i'm also constantly inspired by my friends who make music too."
what is the first record you ever bought?"the first record i ever bought... oooh--" she started batting her lashes trying to recall through the scattered thoughts in her brain. her collection was big and she remembered being a kid with her brother when she'd bought her very first CD. "i think it was inside in / inside out from the kooks. yeah and i still love that album."
what has working in the music industry meant to you thus far in your career?she couldn't have smiled wider if she tried in that moment. "oh it's meant everything. this is all i've ever wanted so to be able to be a part of this industry and have this career is literally my dream."
what are some stand out moments from your career so far? "i think just the entire trajectory of my career i've been really thankful for, you know? like getting signed to eclipse, being able to tour, getting featured in sonic, being able to work for eclipse... it's all been so fucking amazing i wouldn't wish for anything else.
how would you describe your style of performance? what makes your shows worth seeing?"i think my favourite kind of shows to perform will always be intimate ones. you know tiny bandrooms and stages that are like three feet off the floor just because it enhances the atmosphere and connects you to your audience so easily." there's almost a look of reminiscence on her features, like she's thinking back to specific shows in mind. as she slowly comes back to reality immy starts nodding her head again. "but i think as my shows grew and you know my stages had to get taller or rooms got bigger or i was opening for bigger acts i really had to adapt and find other ways to connect with crowds, especially when they're not your own crowds right? so i find just trying to have as much energy as possible is the best thing. making sure you're connecting with your band too and just trying to get everyone as fucking hyped as possible whilst throwing a slow one in there every now and then."
what are you still hoping to achieve in your career?it took her a few seconds to really allow herself to think of exactly how she wanted this to come out. "i think i want to achieve a new level of authenticity in my work. like i said, i'm trying to be really experimental and like i'm trying to find my voice again
what’s next for you?theres almost a flicker of doubt in her eyes. like she really doesn't know how to answer that question "hopefully an album soon, but that's way out so maybe some singles first... i don't know it depends on how experimental i get."

Name:
St. Cecilia Jameson.
Name Meaning: “Blind,” named for St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music; “Son of James,” for the whiskey brand.
Birth name: Felicity Marie Robinson.
Birthday: December 15, 1966.
Star Sign: Sagittarius Sun, Aquarius Moon, Capricorn Rising.
Chinese Zodiac: Fire Horse.
Age: She's 39 during season one, but by Doomstar, she's 46.
Way, way more info under the cut!
Family: Elizabeth (Mother, estranged), Bryony (Older half-sister, beloved), Esme (Deceased grandmother, beloved), Arjun (Father, only met once she was an adult, but they've gotten close), Peter (Older half-brother, well-liked).
Family Dynamic: Only the women of the family live together, as Arjun raised Peter in London. St. Cecilia has a very formal, cold relationship with her mother, and she has no desire to change that. As far as she's concerned, her mother doesn't deserve to have a good relationship with her. She's fond of Arjun and Peter, who run a jewelry store in London. St. Cecilia adores Bryony more than anyone else. Though Elizabeth brags about her, Bryony remains modest and is very close with her sister because of it. Though there's seven years between them, they may as well be twins. Esme, who passed away in 1993, was more of a mother to St. Cecilia than Elizabeth ever was, and St. Cecilia still misses her terribly. She was a big part of getting SnB off the ground, and the boys even came to her funeral.
Upbringing: Like Bryony, St. Cecilia was sent to the family's exclusive girls-only boarding school as soon as she was old enough. This put serious strain on her relationship with her mother, who was the headmistress and treated her as coldly as she treated every other student. The resentment led to St. Cecilia's rebellious period, and she left home at fifteen with her grandmother's blessing and a not-insignificant amount of money.
Skills & Hobbies: St. Cecilia writes good poetry, great song lyrics, and terrible erotica. She's good with plants and is quite the chess player (Though she hasn't managed to beat Charles even once), which she learned during her school days. She also learned to fence, ride horses, and speak fluent Latin there. She paints, though she favors landscapes with teacups as her preferred canvas. She's a classically trained singer (When she was little, she was part of her church's choir), and she writes most of the song lyrics and some of the music for her band, Stiletto. In Snakes N' Barrels, she played lead guitar on a white Jackson Pro Series Rhoads RR3, but during their reunion concert, she plays a more modern Gibson Explorer '76 Reissue 2010 Cherry. She took piano lessons for several years as a child, and she's still pretty good. Nothing outstanding, but if Stiletto needs to incorporate a piano into a song, she's perfectly capable of playing it herself.
Current Residence: London, England.
Birthplace: Oxford, England.
Languages Known: English (Native), French (Fluent), Latin (Mostly fluent).
Profession: Singer for Stiletto.
Gender: Cis female.
Pronouns: She/Her.
Sexuality: Bisexual.
Romantic Identity: Biromantic.
Preferences: St. Cecilia seems to be attracted to fellow trainwrecks, and she has an extremely harmful fear of being alone. If she's not in a relationship, she feels worthless.
Experience: St. Cecilia has a great deal of sexual experience, but she's only had two serious relationships (Pickles and Magnus, neither of which ended well). She was exploited from a young age due to her fame, and it's left her feeling that sex is all she has to offer, which has gotten her into trouble more than a few times.
Nationality: English.
Race: Three-quarters English, one-quarter Punjabi.
Face Claim: Taylor Momsen.
Voice Claim: Lzzy Hale.
Religion: Lapsed Catholic.
Details: St. Cecilia attended a Catholic school when she was a child, but since she ran away from home at fifteen, she's only attended for major holidays and rare bouts of Catholic guilt, which are only intensified by the fact that her grandmother named her after a saint. In 1986, she gave up alcohol for Lent, but she got so shaky that Pickles and Sammy insisted on taking her to the hospital, where she ended up detoxing and being forced into rehab.
Appearance
Build: St. Cecilia is petit, with a small chest, a smaller waist, and wide hips. She carries her weight in her hips and thighs, and she's a little upset she doesn't have a thigh gap.
Height: Five foot one.
Skin (color, complexion, etc): She has olive skin decorated with a great many tattoos and piercings.
Handedness: Right.
Hair color: Platinum blonde, though it's naturally dark brown.
Hair texture: Thick with a slight wave.
Usual Hair Styling: She usually wears it in a high ponytail, though she twists it up when she's working in the Mordhaus basement in season four.
Facial Features: St. Cecilia has a soft face, a small nose, full lips with no cupid’s bow, and almond-shaped eyes.
Eye Color: Golden brown.
Miscellaneous: St. Cecilia has numerous tattoos and piercings. She has three white marigolds tattooed on each shoulder, a labret piercing, and a vertical collarbone piercing at the hollow of her throat. Her ears are pierced three times each, in which she wears two silver hoops and a silver stud on each side, and she has a small black star beneath each eye (Which are actually just makeup, though she's never seen in public without them). She has a Christina piercing, nipple piercings, and a belly button piercing. She has a No Time For Antivenom tattoo on her sternum, and a European robin tattoo at the back of her neck. She has a shitty stick-and-poke crown tattooed behind her right ear (Given to her by Tony) and a stick-and-poke diamond on the underside of her ring finger (Given to her by Pickles in place of a wedding ring, and he has the same one). Very, very high up on her right inner thigh, she has a tattoo of the words "love me". Her tongue is pierced with a simple silver stud.
Fashion Sense:
Clothes: St. Cecilia favors dark jeans or shorts with thigh-high stockings with heeled boots. If she isn't wearing boots, she's wearing stilettos. She isn't a fan of long skirts, but minis are acceptable. She tends to show a lot of skin, but she keeps her hands covered, though there's no deep reason for it, save her liking gloves.
Accessories: She almost never goes without her collar, which is black leather with silver spikes and a D-ring at the front. She often wears a pick necklace, too, both of which were gifts from Pickles. She wears silver earrings of several different styles over the course of the show.
Styling: Her style is one of two extremes: Black leather and denim rocker or gold and pink glam, with the former being her stage look and the latter being her more "casual" look, though it's hardly casual at all.
Personality
Personality Description: St. Cecilia is cocky, witty, and teasing, but ultimately good-natured. She's a bit selfish and stubborn, but she does everything with 110% effort, hoping to impress people, even if she winds up getting hurt in the process. She'll do literally anything for validation. To say she's vain would be an understatement. She's something of a coquette who flirts with both men and women, and she has a tendency to "think with her dick," as Tony once put it. She's slow to anger, but quick to jealousy, and she holds grudges for far too long. She's the playful type, but it's largely in a chill way. She's an obvious extrovert, and the role as frontman for Stiletto came very naturally.
Strengths: She's a go-getter who knows what she wants and won't stop until she gets it.
Weaknesses: She has a hard time trusting people, and she has very little sense of self-worth despite her cockiness.
Goals: Find love. She's achieved everything she's set out to do, but love is highly elusive for her.
Fears: Being abandoned and/or forgotten.
Secrets: She was madly in love with one of her classmates, and she confessed just before she ran away, only to be rejected. When Snakes first got big, she mailed this girl all kinds of proof of her success, just to be rejected again. They met during a reunion, and she's been married for years, and St. Cecilia has never felt as much a failure as she did then.
Timeline
-Childhood: St. Cecilia was an outspoken, bratty child, which she never grew out of, but she was musically inclined from the start. She was one of the popular girls during her school days, and when she hit thirteen, she decided that she was no longer a child and had a right to demand respect from her emotionally distant mother. When she was fourteen, she fell off a horse during an equestrian class and shattered her left collarbone. She quit the piano lessons she had been taking for several years and took up the guitar soon after, though it aggravated her injured collarbone and she developed a dependence on painkillers. This rebellious period stretched until she was fifteen and ran away with the help of her grandmother. She was only in LA for a few weeks before she met Sammy at a bar where the SnB prototype band was playing. Naturally, Snazz and Tony weren't thrilled with the idea of Sammy's kinda-sorta-girlfriend trying to become their lead guitarist, and when Snazz disparagingly referred to St. Cecilia as Yoko, she broke his nose (How could he have not expected violence when a Beatles-loving British girl was called such a horrible thing?). This earned their respect and is an event that they laugh about to this day.
-Snakes N' Barrels era: St. Cecilia stuck with the band until they found Pickles, and she was smitten with him the moment she heard him sing. The band made it big after not too long, and they all grew quite close. St. Cecilia ended up in an ill-fated off-and-on relationship with Pickles as time went on, and to this day she doesn't remember the first time she told him she loved him. It wasn't long after his first OD and his following stint in rehab that she told him, and they were both drunk in celebration of his release. His tolerance, even post-rehab, was far higher than hers, though, and he remembers, though he sometimes hates that he does. On a whim, St. Cecilia and Pickles got married, foregoing rings in favor of matching tattoos they gave each other during the honeymoon, as rings might affect their image. It didn't last long: It was only about nine months before it fell apart. Though there was genuine love between them, the stress of the band and both of their substance abuse problems drove a wedge between not only the couple, but also the entire band. Coupled with Pickles fucking groupies behind St. Cecilia's back and St. Cecilia's becoming a rather serious Vicodin addict to combat the pain in her injured shoulder, the band was doomed. Pickles came to see St. Cecilia off on her flight back to England, saying he would meet her there when his next residuals check came in, but he never made it, and they didn't speak to each other for years afterward.
-Preklok: After SnB broke up, St. Cecilia returned to Oxford, staying with Bryony in their mother's guest house as she tried to figure out her next move. Despite her gift for writing lyrics, she had no talent for writing books, and that idea quickly went down the drain. She still received a large amount of money in residuals, and at her mother's insistence, she attended a few classes at Oxford University. She absolutely loved it, and she came away with a BA in music. In 1992, Esme passed away. St. Cecilia only told Sammy about it, but he took the initiative and brought Pickles, Tony and Snazz with him to the funeral. St. Cecilia was initially pissed, but she really appreciated the support. That was the only time she saw Pickles between SnB's breakup and their reunion for the filming of the "Thunderhorse" music video. He was devastated when her parting words to him were "I love you with everything I am, but I never wanna see you again." In the mid-90s, she posed for an issue of Playboy, and Pickles has a copy of the issue tucked away somewhere. It wasn't until 1998, when she moved to a little flat in London, that St. Cecilia reunited with her school friend Niamh and the idea of Stiletto came about. They found Priyanka and Lex at an open mic night at one of the local clubs, and they hit it off, both as friends and as bandmates. They played at many clubs and pubs, and they were soon found by a scout at another open mic night. They signed with the UK branch of Crystal Mountain Records, and within three years, Stiletto was huge, due in part to St. Cecilia's residual fame from Snakes N' Barrels. Their first tour was through Europe, but the second came to America, where St. Cecilia met Magnus in a bar post-show. They got on really well, and she invited him to her hotel room for the night. They exchanged numbers and got quite close over time, with her even flying him out to London from time to time so they could hang out. Magnus knew who she was from the start, and while he planned to use her feelings for Pickles to get her on his side, that soon faded and he came to genuinely like her. She wouldn't learn who he was until later on. A few years before canon, she had a quickie with Nathan in a coat room at a singers-only party at Crystal Mountain records, and he used the fact that she couldn't fit her mouth around his dick as inspiration for Dethklok's infamous song "Glasgow Smile." He was the one who eventually called her in to be in the "Thunderhorse" music video. This was when she met Skwisgaar, and they hit it off almost immediately and have been good friends ever since.
-Season 1:
-St. Cecilia makes her initial appearance as Nathan's queen in the "Thunderhorse" video at the start of Dethwater.
-She's mentioned during Performance Klok, when Pickles says he hasn't been in a serious relationship since the '80s despite the fact that he would certainly thrive under such attention.
-She makes her first speaking appearance in Snakes N' Barrels, during the documentary the Dethklok is watching. Toki and Murderface are a little critical when they learn that part of SnB's downfall was due to Pickles's failed relationship with St. Cecilia. There's some comedic nonsense talk about fucking one's guitarist before Pickles goes to speak with Charles. Though St. Cecilia is working on an album with Stiletto when she's asked to go to the reunion, she manages to push through and finish in time, though she arrives nearly late. She finds Pickles backstage, and when he sweeps in to kiss her, she pulls away a bit, saying they can't do this, as she's spoken for. She lets him hold her close, though. The rest of Dethklok finds them like that, and St. Cecilia excuses herself to go find Sammy, Tony and Snazz. There's some talk about Pickles not leaving Dethklok, which he says he won't, but they're rather worried after catching him with St. Cecilia in his arms. Meanwhile, she manages to find the boys, and they meet with Pickles backstage. While the boys partake of the Totally Awesome Sweet Alabama Liquid Snake, St. Cecilia doesn't, as she once passed out onstage and doesn't wish to repeat the incident. She presses a kiss to Pickles's palm before they go on stage, an old ritual that they were never able to shake. What happens is far worse than someone just passing out, and she and Pickles leave the stage amidst the chaos while the medical Klokateers take care of the boys and see them off to the hospital. It's a disaster. She's embarrassed and angry, and she turns down Pickles's offer of a ride home and calls someone instead, as she didn't get her money converted and can't pay for a cab. This someone turns out to be the man who's claimed her, Magnus, and Pickles is none too happy about it. He tries to stop her from going with him, but it doesn't work.
-She isn't seen in Dethkids, but she is mentioned. When Pickles starts drinking harder than usual, he finally gives in to the urge to call her, to talk about how Sammy and Snazz and Tony are doing, and to tell her that she should steer clear of Magnus. He's so drunk, though, that she barely has even an idea of what he's talking about.
-Offscreen, sometime between the two SnB episodes, Magnus and St. Cecilia abruptly break up. She had a feeling something was going on with him, but his sudden disappearance really hurt her. They had been together off and on for years, after all. A few weeks before he left, he bought her a little pink knife and showed her how to use it, just in case he wasn't around to protect her. When he left, he left his guitar behind, and she still has it as of Doomstar.
-Season 2:
-She's mentioned by Seth in Dethwedding, though only as "that British chick" he thought Pickles would eventually have married. Pickles nearly decks him for even mentioning her.
-Offscreen, she's contacted by Rikki Kixx, who wants her to take part in the SOBERTOWN reunion. She tells him she's not sober and it's not right to reunite without Pickles, and he tells her off, banning her from even attending the concert. Sammy calls her later, and she tells him she'll be there to support them, even if she won't perform and she'll have to hide.
-St. Cecilia's next appearance is in Snakes N' Barrels II. In part one, during the advertisement for the SOBERTOWN USA concert, she's missing from the band lineup, and Pickles is both relieved and a little concerned by her absence.
-In SnB II part two, Nathan, Skwisgaar and Toki find her among the crowd at the SOBERTOWN USA concert. Nathan asks if she wasn't invited to play, but she says that she was: She just didn't think it was right to play without Pickles. She was banned from attending, and she's wearing a disguise. Realizing that Pickles is sneaking around backstage, she leaves to go find him and try to keep him from doing something he'll regret. She only finds him just as Tony, Snazz and Sammy start freaking out, and she only just manages to keep Pickles from killing Rikki Kixx, though she honestly doesn't mind the thought of him dead. She pulls Pickles away from the stage, where he calls the Klokateers to take care of Sammy, Snazz and Tony, and she sets to icing down his bruised knuckles. She tells him that she and Magnus broke up, and he's thoroughly pleased about it: She's too good for him, anyway. That irritates her a bit, but she tells him to call her sometime, though she insists he do it when he's not drunk off his ass.
-Season 3:
-Ironically, when Pickles calls her in Dethhealth to inform her that he's dying, he's in fact drunk again. She wants to go to Mordhaus to see him, but he tells her to stay where she is, as he doesn't want her seeing him like that, though she's seen him at rock bottom as it is. At the end of the episode, he's drunker and higher than ever, but he calls her again to let her know he's all right. She can't understand him, though, so he puts Nathan on to explain. She’s thoroughly relieved, but she’s still considering going to Mordhaus to see him. When Pickles is a bit less of a mess, he calls her back and agrees to hang out with her for a while.
-Offscreen, in the time between Dethhealth and Dethmas, Pickles goes to London for a while to appease St. Cecilia, and to their mutual surprise, it's not really all that different from how it was when they were actually together. There's lots of cuddling and kissing and great sex and just... Hanging out. It's easy for them to be together. They have their share of problems, but the old flame between them is still there after all these years. It never even went out. Pickles is honestly a little scared of that: What if he falls for her all over again just for her to break his heart like she did last time? The fact that she has Magnus's guitar makes him doubly suspicious. When he returns to Mordhaus, he starts drinking harder than ever to drown out the thoughts of her.
-In Rehabklok, when Pickles's drinking is brought to the attention of the band and he's sent to rehab, he tries for a while to blame it on St. Cecilia. She broke his heart, and he drinks to cope. It makes perfect sense, until he starts to really think about it and realizes that he's equally at fault for how their relationship (And also SnB) fell apart. He realizes, after many years, that he hurt her as badly as she hurt him. And that makes him feel even worse. He talks the doctor into letting him call her to apologize, but it doesn't go well: She's a little offended that he would even consider blaming her for his drinking, given he was a drunk long before they met. "Is that what I am to you now? An excuse to get drunk and act a fool?" Not long after that, Pickles realizes the real cause for his drinking.
-Just before Charles goes to speak to the UN in Doublebookedklok, he calls St. Cecilia and cryptically asks her if she speaks Latin. She owes him a favor for getting her out of some legal trouble, so she can't really refuse. Several months before, she punched a scummy paparazzo who called Magnus washed-up, and Charles used his reeducation program to keep those involved from pressing charges or damaging St. Cecilia's reputation.
-Season 4:
-In Fanklok, before Charles meets with the band to discuss Klokikon, he welcomes St. Cecilia to Mordhaus and presents her with an ancient-looking journal that belonged to Aurelius Isambard, one of the original prophets of the Church of the Black Klok. She's taken down to the basement, where she's introduced to Edgar Jomfru, and gets to work.
-In Diversityklok, after he's spoken to Edgar, Charles speaks to St. Cecilia. He finds her engrossed, but thoroughly worried. She asks if the Prophecy is real, and she's even more worried when he tells her it is.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia has been hard at work translating the journal, and she's come to a passage that seems to describe the growing tension between the band. It also mentions an approaching star, and she takes to sitting on the roof at night to observe the sky.
-In Prankklok, when Pickles tells Nathan that he's not allowed to drink any tequila during their friender-bender, Nathan tells him he can't visit St. Cecilia when they stop in London. It's mostly a joke, and Pickles plays it off as such. Not long after, we see Pickles on his phone, though, debating on calling her just before he notices the storm warning.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia approaches Charles about a phrase repeated over and over in the journal: Fata sidus oritur, the star of fate is born.
-After Charles breaks the news about the Ice Festival to Skwisgaar in Bookklok, he goes to speak with St. Cecilia and Edgar in the basement. She's tacked two star maps to the wall: One from the previous week and one from the previous night. There's a spot near the center of the first map that seems bigger on the second one. She looks like the world is ending when she tells him it's the Doomstar. It's real. It's coming? When? Soon, she says. Far too soon.
-When Charles tells the boys he's going out of town in Dethcamp, it's to take St. Cecilia to an observatory, where they meet with Ishnifus and spend a few days tracking the Doomstar's movements as it comes closer and closer to Earth, trying to figure out how long they have before it arrives.
-In Going Downklok, when Pickles shows up all decked out for his meeting with Abigail, Nathan is quick to ask, "Don't you have a girlfriend?" Pickles insists he doesn't; He and St. Cecilia were both hurt and angry the last time they spoke. On top of that, he believes she's all the way in London, and Abigail is right there. He's always been one to take the easy route.
-Offscreen, between Dethdinner and Breakup Klok, St. Cecilia is tagged in the video of Pickles quitting Dethklok by a drunken Toki. She's incredibly hurt. Pickles has nothing, he said. She, apparently, is nothing.
-In Breakup Klok, Pickles tries to call St. Cecilia to invite her to his wine tasting, but she refuses to answer and sends him straight to voicemail on several occasions. Towards the end of the episode, after the escape from Salacia, Charles requests a check-up on Edgar and St. Cecilia back at Mordhaus, and Pickles is stunned and angry to learn that she's been more or less within arm's reach for months. Had he known, he's certain things would have been different-- He wouldn't have tried to make a move on Abigail and he wouldn't have fucked up his chance to get back with St. Cecilia again.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia speaks to Charles about staying at a hotel for a few days, just until Roy Cornickelson's funeral, after which she'll return to Mordhaus and her translation work. The day of the funeral, though, she receives a call from Magnus telling her she absolutely cannot attend, as he can't guarantee her safety. It's the last time she has contact with him before his death. We also see her watching the news about Dethklok's breakup and the insinuation that Abigail caused it, and St. Cecilia chucks a bottle at the TV, mirroring Pickles's actions in SnB II part one.
-In Church of the Black Klok, St. Cecilia is fetched from the hotel by Klokateers and taken to the Dethsub, where she meets with Charles, pointedly ignores Pickles, and goes to work with Edgar instead.
-The Doomstar Requiem:
-In "One of Us Must Die," St. Cecilia can be seen on one of the slides, staring up into the sky with Isambard's journal held to her chest. Towards the end of the song, reading from the book, she sings, "Dethklok, they must be rejoined/Evil, it must be destroyed/No more apathetic stoics/They can learn to be heroic/Write the song that will be our salvation..."
-In "Training," while carrying the journal, she sings the lyrics, "As the prophecy foretold, the Doomstar has been born/And you all will be endowed with a power known to none." Nathan, Skwisgaar and Murderface are looking at the art of the Prophecy, but Pickles is watching her. Ishnifus places a hand upon her shoulder, and they sing together, "The Dethlights are within you all waiting to be woken/And when the five are united, the evil will be broken," in a show of solidarity.
-In "En Antris et Stella Fatum Cruenti," just after Ishnifus is killed and the Doomstar goes red, we see a shot of Charles, Edgar and St. Cecilia at the Church, watching the sky.
-In "Morte Lumina," in a mirror to Nathan and Abigail's kiss, we see Pickles approach St. Cecilia, and she presses a kiss to his palm (Which is a really significant gesture between them) before he pulls her into his arms.
-Note: She has a potential song of her own in Halestorm's "Love/Hate Heartbreak," the lyrics of which could be addressed to Magnus or Pickles.
Symbology
Color: Baby pink.
Animal: Arctic fox.
Gemstone: Diamond.
The Alignment: Neutral good.
Favorites
Food: Chicken Tikka Masala (Though she has to have it extra mild because despite being a quarter Punjabi, she's still an English gal and can't handle spice. Peter often makes fun of her for it).
Least Favorite: Any sort of fish dish.
Drink: Bombay Sapphire gin.
Least Favorite: Coconut water.
Color: Baby pink, gold.
Least Favorite: Red.
Animal: Foxes.
Least Favorite: Seagulls or badgers.
-Abigail Remeltincdrinc: They became friends mostly due to the fact that they were both women in the music industry (And both working for Crystal Mountain), and supporting each other seemed like the right thing to do. Abigail getting involved with Dethklok and catching Pickles's attention quickly became a sore spot, and they drifted apart after that. After DSR, things got even worse. Abigail, naturally, is glad that Magnus is gone, while St. Cecilia is devastated by the loss. They had something of a falling-out over it, and they haven't really spoken since, and they're both totally okay with it.
Character Relationships
-Pickles the Drummer: Their relationship is a complicated one. They've known each other for ages, and they've been together through the highest highs and the lowest lows, all the way down to rock bottom. She partially blames him for her late teens and early twenties being the fiasco they were, and she cut off contact with him for a long time after the SnB breakup. During the run of the show itself, the two reconcile somewhat and even become more or less friends before Abigail shows up and things start to crumble again. They have a hard time admitting it, but there's love between them, and there has been for a long time. They're both afraid to try getting together again, though, as there's a mutual fear of the relationship ending as it did the first time, with them hating each other again. It nearly killed both of them the first time. They're unofficially back together at the end of Doomstar, but there's no way of telling if the love between them is enough to keep them together or if they'll just fall apart all over again.
-Magnus Hammersmith: They were more off-and-on than anything, but they were together for years, even though quite a bit of it was long-distance. It wasn't supposed to be a serious thing. It was just supposed to be a quick fuck. Then it was a performance to get back at Pickles, but Magnus quickly realized that St. Cecilia's feelings for Pickles were too strong for her to be of any use to him in his revenge plot. The basis of their bond formed because they understood each other on a level they've never known with anyone else: Former Snakes N' Barrels guitarist St. Cecilia Jameson and former Dethklok guitarist Magus Hammersmith both understand on a fundamental level what it's like to be left behind and forgotten. Magnus caught a bit of feelings himself, and when Roy Cornickelson's funeral came around, Magnus warned St. Cecilia not to attend. It was their last interaction, and it forever cast him in a positive light for her, even after she learned what he was doing with the Metal Masked Assassin. During Doomstar, she stuck with Charles and Dethklok solely to try and find Magnus. She was devastated by the loss.
-Charles Offdensen: St. Cecilia really likes Charles, actually. He's basically the only person on the show who's really "on her level" class-wise. He attended Harvard, and she attended Oxford, so they have a great deal to talk about. They play a lot of chess and fence on occasion, and if it weren't for her feelings for Pickles and his obligation to the Church, they just might have gotten together. A time or two, we catch him quietly watching her, or her shooting wanting looks his way. There's a very real spark between them.
-Skwisgaar Skwigelf: St. Cecilia is nothing short of enchanted by Skwisgaar. It's not a crush, exactly, but she has a huge amount of admiration for him. They've practiced together a time or two, but she's a little rusty and winds up with her fingers bleeding because her calluses have gone soft. He tends to tease her over her soft hands. A guitar god, he tells her, can't have hands like a princess. His calling her princess becomes a bit of a thing for them. The two of them often have brunch together, talking shit and drinking. She's good for him; He's never had a female friend before.
-Nathan Explosion: They get along pretty well. Their first meeting was at a singers-only Crystal Mountain party, and they ended the evening with a quickie in the coatroom. He wrote a song about the encounter, but Pickles never figured out that it was about St. Cecilia, which Nathan thinks is just the funniest thing. He mostly sees St. Cecilia as one of the guys once she meets with Dethklok again for the SnB reunion. It's a "been there, done that" kind of deal. She's not brutal, but she's funny and she's fun, and goddamn, is she pretty, and they would absolutely hang out if they could get their schedules to line up.
-William Murderface: St. Cecilia actually has a begrudging fondness for Murderface. He's awful, but he's also pretty funny, and she likes to hear him talk about knives and medieval weaponry, as her family home is full of such things. They also have the same car (Lamborghini Aventadors, hers in metallic rose gold and his matte black), and tend to race on occasion. They clash over things, of course, but she likes being around him more often than not.
-Toki Wartooth: Within the series itself, St. Cecilia hasn't given Toki much thought. He's cute, but he's just sorta there. His incident during the SOBERTOWN USA concert really scared her, and she more or less avoids him after that.
-Edgar Jomfru: Despite being very different people, St. Cecilia really enjoys Edgar's company. He merely tolerates her at first, but she grows on him, to the point where they're legitimately friends come Doomstar. The two of them often have lunch together on the roof of Mordhaus so they can get some fresh air. He's the smartest person she knows, and she lowkey enjoys the fact that she sometimes struggles to keep up with him. She feels safe knowing that if she can't figure something out, he's there to help.
-Snakes N' Barrels: Sammy is the only one of her bandmates she really kept in touch with after the breakup. He was her favorite long before Pickles joined. There was a pregnancy scare not long after the band took off that somehow, against all odds, brought the two of them even closer. Sammy was St. Cecilia's first love. Her relationships with Tony and Snazz were much more professional, though none of them were anywhere near professional. The crown tattoo behind her right ear was done by Tony on a drunken night in, and it was too good a night for her to even consider covering it or getting it removed. She and Tony slept together a few times, but there was never really any romantic connection between them. She and Snazz don't have much of a connection at all. They don't really get along.

Tagged by @specialagentartemis to post 10 songs I like with names in the title. It was easier to come up with these than I expected, even though I don't normally think about music by what's in the song title that way.
Cecilia, Simon and Garfunkel. I could easily have done this whole list as (Paul) Simon (and Garfunkel) songs tbh
Aisha, Death in Vegas ft. Iggy Pop
Clint Eastwood, Gorillaz
Cool as Kim Deal, Dandy Warhols. I looked up the lyrics to this for the first time today and realized that Courtney Taylor-Taylor is singing about wanting a girlfriend as cool as Kim Deal. I always thought he was saying "Just wanna [be?] as cool as Kim Deal"
Sarah, Hungry for Hands
Eggerson Keaveney, Jazz Emu. This has been stuck in my head for about a week, alternating with Not as Sexy.
Calling Elvis, Dire Straits
Elektrichka, The Projects. An elektrichka is a certain kind of Eastern European passenger train, but the album is called Elektrichka's Favourite Party Record, so I feel like it's addressed to a person with an unusual name.
Dr. Jeep, Sisters of Mercy. More people named after vehicles!
Rodney Yates, David Holmes
I tried to get a good genre range in here -- we've got classic rock, various electronic and trip hop adjacent somethings, a YouTuber's novelty song, a band which refuses to admit it makes goth music, and...sludgy post-metal?
Forgot to tag anyone, but do this if you like!

Interview with the Sichuan Legend Chef YU BO
New Post has been published on https://china-underground.com/2019/12/25/chef-yu-bo-sichuan-cuisine-interview/
Interview with the Sichuan Legend Chef YU BO
Yu Bo is Chengdu’s most famous chef lauded as Sichuan Legend.
Yu Bo was born in Chengdu during the Maoist years. Recruited for a job by his cooking teacher, who worked in a local government office in Chengdu, he understanding of basic cooking skills and began to see his future as a chef. During his work experience, he practiced his knife skills in his own time.
Yu dedicated years of meticulous study to the art of cooking spicy and classic Sichuan cuisine under traditional chefs. Since he ventured off on his own his restaurant has won praise for culinary dexterity and exceptional creativity. He acquiring a loyal following among an elite of artists, intellectuals, and other gourmets. Yu refines Chengdu’s culinary traditions creation with his personal stamp. His food evolves, with new ingredients from other parts of China, and old Sichuan recipes rediscovered.
Instagram
China-underground: How and when did you start to get interested in food? Have you always wanted to be a chef?
Chef Yu Bo: I was born in the 60s, growing up, the food was always extremely scared, so I was interested in pretty much all kinds of food I can get my hands on. During the time I was receiving my culinary training, the notion of Chef did not exist. I merely followed a Chinese saying: Bad weather cannot starve artisans, to work hard and study diligently to become a very skilled artisan.
“It’s necessary to become a good person if you want to be a good cook.” “I’m a chef. And cooking, it’s a happy thing.” – Chef Yu Bo
Some of Yu Bo’s signature dishes include a set of different cold vegetable appetizers demonstrating the famous Sichuanese culinary maxim that each dish has its own style, and different flavors. He is a master in creating an edible calligraphy brush, that looks close u exactly like real calligraphy brushes, served with a dish of red ink/sauce. His attention to details is exceptional.
Besides passion, meticulous studying the art of cooking and concentration, what are the main and most important qualities for a chef?
In my opinion, the most important qualities for a chef include love, conscience, respect – for the environment, for fellow humans, for the ingredients, for the skills, and the tradition.
What are the biggest challenges of your work? What are the greatest rewards?
I have always had trouble with finding the best ingredients and like-minded folks. I longed to collaborate with young chefs who are independent thinkers and have basic fluency in Sichuan cuisine.
Chengdu’s most creative chef, generating worldwide attention through luminaries in the food world that describe him with respect. Chef Yu Bo has been featured on NPR, the BBC, in the Financial Times, VICE and many others, etc … He’s garnered accolades from food experts and chefs such as Fuchsia Dunlop, Thomas Keller, Andrew Zimmern, David Chang, Cecilia Chiang, Shirley Chung and he’s hosted U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke, as well as visit from U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
Yu Bo says that in L.A., it’s easier than it is in China to find people who will work for passion, who will chase a goal that isn’t based around a monetary reward. He wants to teach somebody else and pass on his techniques and skills. He admires the spirit of young cooks. He is eager to pass all his knowledge onto the right person.
Sichuanese food had gained global exposure. Chengdu is Asia’s first UNESCO-listed City of Gastronomy. What would you like people to appreciate about Sichuan cuisines?
I would like people to appreciate the rich and dynamic flavor of Sichuanese cuisine. Particularly the traditional 24 complex flavors. My dear friend writer Fuchsia Dunlop wrote about these flavors in an article for the magazine Lucky Peach.
Yu Jia Chu Fang – Yu’s Family Kitchen Sichuanese food has gained global exposure and in his Chengdu mansion, Chef Yu Bo runs an Avant-Garde Restaurant. Chef Yu Bo creates the next level-foods, that attracted the attention of his spectacular and tasting menu. Yu is skilled at using the old ways of doing things to create food that feels brand-new. Meals are served in the usual Chinese banquet style. Reservations are required. When diners decide how much they want to spend, discover what seasonal ingredients are available and inform the staff of dietary restrictions. At Yu’s Family Kitchen, you can eat classic local Sichuan flavors dishes, that displayed precise knife work, cooking skill and creativity. Chef Yu Bo shows local cooking methods, ingredients in original combinations, pushing the limits of Sichuanese cuisine, unlike anyone else in the world. Address: Yu’s Family Kitchen, He Huan Shu Jie, Jinjiang, Chengdu, Sichuan
Chef Yu Bo has a very individualistic creative thinking, he sees himself as a cook, an artist with a personal vision of Chinese gastronomy. He takes something simple and transforms it into a piece of art, nearly too exquisite to eat. He said: “My dishes are like fashion that is not worn by common people.” He gained his reputation thanks to his culinary prowess, but is his character and thinking like an artist that makes Yu stand out.
Cuisine as a cultural form is very alive and can be very dynamic. Each dish has its own style. What do you think about the line between tradition and innovation?
I believe that there is no defined line between tradition and innovation, at least in the case of Sichuan cuisine, all innovative Sichuan dishes are rooted in traditions. Speaking in terms of an analogy: Tradition is like the root of a tree and innovation is the newly grown leaves from the tree.
Can you share with us any meaningful story about your work experience or food philosophy?
I did not receive higher education, I ended my academic career after middle school, thus I don’t have thought much about “food philosophy”. However, according to my own experience, I know that basic skills in cooking go a long way. Basic skills in Sichuan cuisine realize in three aspects: knife skills, control over temperature and timing, and a solid understanding of various flavor profiles. One could only acquire these skills through endless practices and reflections. I believe that these skills, though seemingly unique to Sichuan/Chinese cuisine, are the keys to developing one’s individual style of cooking. Mastering these skills is my own understanding of “practice makes perfect”.
The whole point about Sichuanese food is the combination of 24 flavors and different types of spicy that characterize this cuisine. Each flavor in Sichuan food is distinct. Chef Yu Bo technique, manipulation of flavors and balancing, enchant every meal with subtle flavor and variety of textures. Since he understands the traditional roots of Sichuanese flavoring techniques, ingredients, and gastronomy, he plays with tradition in a very inventive way.
You are a chef working between China and the United States of America: what differences and what opportunities?
I have traveled back and forth between China and the U.S a lot, I have only been living in California for the last two years so I can’t claim that I know much about America. I have come to understand the business model of fast food and how that impacted Chinese food in America. There are two reasons behind the adaptation of this fast-food model for most Chinese-American restaurants: Firstly, the cultural difference, due to the various ethnic groups in America, the cultural difference not only exist between the mainstream American culture and Chinese culture but also within the subculture of Chinese(-Americans), for example, Taiwanese, mainlander, and Hong Kongers all have vastly different traditions and cultural understandings of each other. Lifestyles and consuming patterns are byproducts of these cultural differences.
Yu Bo uses, in nearly two decades, only one old cleaver that he sharpens regularly. He cuts everything with it. All his stunning knife work and series of thin and delicates Chinese patterns are done with the same kind of cleaver that chefs use to hack through tough pieces of meat and bones.
Secondly, the language barrier. Most people in the culinary and restaurant industry in China are not well-educated (middle-school-graduates are the most common). The lack of education directly limited Chinese culinary development abroad. Most Chinese chefs, as well as restaurant owners, cannot articulate their concepts and ideas behind dishes that are familiar to the American audience, let alone conversing in English! Without proper marketing and management, it is difficult to charge a reasonable price that matches the craft. To make matters more difficult, it is difficult to find the most suitable ingredients for Sichuan food in the United States or alternative ingredients (this is very important) while keeping the cost low.
Limitation of language keeps all the Chinese chefs and restaurant owners in a small bubble, they couldn’t communicate and cooperate with American chefs and operators. All these components resulted in this under-appreciated reality of Chinese food in America. Chefs and restaurant owners are left without a choice but adapting to fast-moving, low-cost model of fast food which suits the on-the-road, not-time-to-eat American lifestyle. As for opportunities, I believe they exist alongside with challenges. Frankly, I feel stuck with the difficulties (stated above) my predecessors have combated. I could only learn and grow slowly and find the opportunities that suit me.
In most traditional Chinese dining in China, dishes are shared communally. Does this cause difficulties for the realization of some dishes in the West? Is this an opportunity to show people a different side of Chinese cuisine?
In ancient China, dishes were individually portioned. (as shown in the image above, from Song dynasty 960-1279 AD) As the need for socializing at the dining table grew, the style became sharing with one and another. Nevertheless, for more upscale occasions, the dishes are presented as large communal meals, servers would usually portion the dishes out for each guest. Over a quarter of restaurants in China now enjoys this style of serving. The popularity of such style grows exponentially. Therefore, I don’t think this style of presentation has caused many difficulties for the realization of some dishes in the West. In my experience of cooking and serving, I prefer using this individual portioning style to showcase my style of Sichuan cuisine. I believe that these small-sized dishes allow my western guests to appreciate the complex and dynamic flavors in Sichuan cuisine.
Yu Bo admits, the whole Yu Bo phenomenon is and always has been the Yu and Dai Shuang. “I would never have succeeded without her.” Yu Bo and Dai Shuang do everything together, they are a team in every sense. Yu Bo and Dai Shuang were eloquent on the subtle modulations of a good Sichuanes banquet, with its peaks and troughs, its carefully considered balance between salty and sweet, dry and wet, spicy and mild, hard and soft. His wife has a rich knowledge of traditional Sichuanese foodways, flavoring techniques, ingredients, and gastronomy. Many of the sublime old-fashioned dishes served in the restaurant come from her parents’ and grandparents’ repertoire. Chengdu is notoriously a very relaxed place, very independent thinking. Chengdu has historically been known as the land of plenty, due to its wonderful climate, soil and produce. That’s why people have pleasure-loving eating delicious food. “A Chinese banquet should leave you feeling very “shu fu” relaxed”- Dai Shuang said. – Fuchsia Dunlop
Ironically when Chengdu became UNESCO City of Gastronomy the traditional flavors started slipping away. Yu Bo and Dai Shuang are both intent to research and preserve Sichuan’s distinctive food culture. Promoting the daintiest Sichuanese cuisine has become part of the finest of their work.
Many people primarily think of Sichuan food as aggressively spicy or numbing (mala) spice. The tingliness of Sichuan pepper electrifies flavors and makes foods and exciting experience. Sichuan it’s one of the most “heat” culinary destinations in China, due to the chilly pepper and the astounding collection of fresh ingredients.
Chinese food in the West was adapted to the environment, culture, etc … How was your culinary experience as a food taster?
My first trip to America was in 2004, I have visited more than 40 different Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles and New York (and the east coast). Most of these restaurants have some Sichuan cuisine elements on their menu. I was rather upset by the artificial and repetitive nature of sweet-sour-spicy flavor prevalent in most Chinese-American styled Sichuan dishes such as sesame chicken, broccoli beef, orange chicken. I knew as a fact that the chefs that worked in these restaurants were some of the top-notch chefs in Chengdu. I was deeply frustrated: they were fluent in the cooking skills, what happened to those skills? Why did they throw those skills away and resorted to these dishes? After moving to America recently and encountered similar problems, I started to understand where they came from. Thanks to the influx of more authentic Chinese food in the American food market in the last decade, this situation has been improved to some degree. Though the cultural difference and language barrier are still keeping most chefs away from achieving the level of craft and success they deserve. As a part of the newer generation of Chinese chefs in America, I am lucky, but I also feel the responsibility to showcase the high-level of Sichuan cuisine on the international stage.

Her costume designs are found in the collections of museums including the Smithsonian Museum of American History (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones), the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame (Michael Jackson’s Thriller) and most recently, the National Museum of African American History and Culture (Coming to America).
A two-term past president of the Costume Designers Guild, Local 892, and a past-Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (2013-2018), Landis sits on the Board of the National Film Preservation Foundation. She is the author of six books including Dressed: A Century of Hollywood Costume Design, FilmCraft: Costume Design, Hollywood Sketchbook: A Century of Costume Illustration and the catalogue for her landmark exhibition, Hollywood Costume, which she curated at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2012. The exhibition, a celebration of one hundred years of costume design history while showcasing the designers’ contribution and process, open just three months, with an attendance of more than 265,000 visitors, became the most successful exhibition in the long history of that museum. The show then traveled to Melbourne, Australia, Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles. Landis is the editor-in-chief of the upcoming three-volume Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Film and Television Costume Design (2021).

From OC ask game 3, question 1 for your Harry Potter OCs?
Harry Potter OCs + Why Did I Pick Their Name?
CECILIA "CECILY" MALFOY
Tumblr media
The Malfoy family traditionally have first names that have a strong Roman origin (Septimus, Brutus) or are named after constellations (Lucius, Draco).
Cecilia is a name of Latin origin, meaning "blind" or "blind to one's beauty", but can also be found in France which is where Cecilia's father was from.
She is known to go by Cecily though, a nickname I admired because of the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare of which feature a character by the same name.
Cecil is also my late grandfather's name and the masculine version of Cecilia, and I like to pay homage to certain people or facts about my life in my stories.
Overall, Cecilia is a royal, elegant, graceful and dainty name which I feel is fitting for the OC.
ARIEL MCKINNON
Tumblr media
Ariel means "Lion of God". The symbol of the lion has been tailored to a majority of this character's identity. I picked it because the name reminds me of the colour red and stubbornness, curtesy of the protagonist from the Little Mermaid. The name also reminds me of fierceness and rebellion, which is two prominent themes to the female lead from Footloose of the same name.
I also picked the name because its foreshadowing of a certain secret about the character that I cannot reveal quite yet but the secret happens to be the biggest influence behind the name,
FUN FACT: I was originally going to name her Roxanne.
BETHANY MEADOWES
Tumblr media
Bethany is quite a mundane name compared to the names of the other OCs but this was on purpose. Initially named Dorothea as a nod to her mother Dorcas, I changed it later because I thought that her character had a more contemporary vibe reminiscent of neon 90s clubbing (hence her creative hair styles and colourful braids) so I changed it to Bethany. Also, there's a KISS song by the same name.
Now if any of your parents happened to make the terrible choice of making you watch Glee with them growing up, you would know the experience of cultivating your taste in music around a show that mostly caters to show choir and the classic rock hits your dad salivates over.
And because I grew up watching Glee, I sadly consider myself a 'Dad who Salivates Over' said hits.
[ [ I am 18. Please recommend me some new music. ] ]
Anyway, there's this plotline in season 1 of Glee where Puck gets Quinn pregnant and they're both conflicted about the baby the later in the pregnancy it gets. Puck decides to whip out his acoustic guitar and sing to Quinn the song "Beth" by KISS and at the end he says he wants to name the kid Beth.
Now ignoring the deeply problematic origins of this train of thought, but the song "Beth" in the context of the show had a new meaning where it was the father saying he wouldn't be home to see his kid (or something like that).
Going back to Bethany the OC, her father died when she was a baby (during the First Wizarding War) and her mother doesn't talk about him. Bethany's name - and its relation to the KISS song in the Glee context - is a nod to what happened to him.
SAPPHIRE ETOILE
Tumblr media
I mentioned that I usually name OCs after people or places in my life to pay homage to them. Sapphire is not as major as a nod to a relative but just a girl I remember growing up with and I thought her name was the coolest name EVER - so much so that it made me hate my own name for a bit there.
Anyway, I thought, "With a name like that, she's gotta have the eyes" because I once met ANOTHER girl with eyes that were a really vibrant blue and were darker than any I've ever seen.
Sapphire's was probably the most shallowest name I came up with but Etoile, her last name, is actually the French word for "Star" I believe and I just liked the sound of the name rolling off my tongue so I kept it.

Once it became clear that she would, in fact, rule alongside Fernando, Isabel sought to remedy the deficiencies of her own early education. Her approach was initially sporadic because of the demands made upon her by motherhood, war, and constant travel. In the course of fulfilling this myriad of responsibilities, she received practical training in diplomacy and statecraft. At the same time, she undertook the study of Latin so that she could “scan the texts of treaties and charters, and to read with pleasure the Vulgate and Caesar’s Commentaries—enough to be determined that her children should have what she (and Ferdinand) had missed” (Mattingly, Catherine of Aragon 17).
As part of her own interest in Latin and as a means of encouraging imitation of her educational endeavors among the members of the court, the queen sponsored publication of a number of practical texts. Among these were Alonso de Palencia’s Universal Vocabulario en Latín y en romance [Universal Vocabulary in Latin and in Romance] and an interlinear edition of Antonio de Nebrija’s Introducciones latines [Introduction to Latin]. These works along with Nebrija’s Gramática castellana [Castilian Grammar] were especially aimed at instructing ladies of her court. Nebrija’s Grámatica established rules that facilitated the study of Castilian, while his Introducciones made possible private tutoring in Latin.
From the education of herself and the ladies surrounding her, Isabel next directed her attention to that of the young within her court, including her own children. Her interest in education had consequences beyond self-advancement or preparation for the future of her offspring. In fact, she undertook the creation within Spain of a climate of intellectual inquiry through public acts. Private and public interests coalesced when she contributed a large portion of her library to San Juan de los Reyes in Toledo. Her action reflected both her desire to regularize the education of young noblemen as well as other royal prerogatives. In pursuit of these ends, she also established a school of classics within the palace, and then invited Italian and Spanish humanist scholars to staff it. Fray Diego Deza came from Salamanca to serve as tutor and guide to the Crown Prince. Later, at her request, Pedro Mártir de Anghiera and Lucio Marineo Sículo taught the young courtiers (Paul, Catherine 62–3).
Although praise of the queen by members of her court may be suspect since they owed their positions to her patronage, a number of the scholars whom she employed lauded her contribution to the furtherance of humanistic studies. As noted earlier, Juan de Lucena contrasted the activities of the monarchs, pointing out that since the Queen studied “we are now all students.” Pedro Mártir de Anghiera noted the queen’s personal contribution by complimenting her as such a great lover of letters. Lucio Marineo Sículo went further when he compared her to Fernando and concluded that “a juicio de muchos, la Reina era de ingenio más vivo, de corazón más grande y de mayor gravedad” [in the judgment of many, the Queen has a livelier talent, a larger heart and greater seriousness] (My translation).
By establishing a palace school for young noblemen, Isabel gave practical form to her interest in education. She also continued the well-established custom of rearing the daughters of the aristocracy within the court, a practice court historian, Fernando de Pulgar, succinctly summarized: “a doncellas huérfanas doctaba, y a otras con grandes doctes las casaba” [she educated orphaned maids and married them to learned men] (My translation). Although a common occurrence in royal courts, Mariejol asserts that “never had there been such a numerous and select retinue of ladies under previous sovereigns” (237–8).
Beyond the court proper, the queen’s example influenced other women to undertake study besides the traditional domestic arts that heretofore constituted a woman’s education. Isabel de Vergara, sister of the humanists Juan and Francisco de Vergara, was herself an Erasmist and learned in Latin and Greek; Cecilia Marello knew philosophy and languages; and Álvara de Alba authored a treatise on mathematics. While Italy might boast of its learned women, they “did not lecture regularly on the poets at the great universities as did Doña Lucía de Medrano at Salamanca and Doña Francisca de Lebrija [daughter of Antonio de Nebrija] at Alcalá.” In fact, “the fuller participation of women was one of the chief differences of the Spanish Renaissance” (Mattingly 18).

2, 5, 6, and 7 for Fortune, Ruben, Fate, and Danny for the OC asks?
alriiiight info dump :D
2. Who is your best friend? Tell us about them!
Fortune
I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't really see anyone ever. I probably see my family more than anyone. And when I say "family", I really mean my brother's family. Granted, the last time I visited was, oh, probably a thousand years ago.
I am pretty good friends with the wildlife around my house. There's a little doe who stops by to eat my cabbages every once in a while. Oh, and robin who sits and sings on my windowsill every morning. Oh, and I can't forget about Old Bessie, my precious little milk cow! I've had her since she was a baby, and now she's 1,500 years old. Can you believe that? They grow up so fast :')
Ruben
I don't think I've ever had a "best" friend, per se. I don't really have time for that, to be honest. I think my closest friend right now is Roger Daniels, my coworker. We eat lunch every day together. He's nice.
Fate
Chronos, my bird. I think he qualifies. He is probably more human than me—since he's mortal and all. When we aren't working together, we bond over music. Chronos' music is a little more *cough* hardcore than my tastes, but I indulge him since he's getting old. He's a sarcastic brat, but he gets the job done. We tolerate each other.
Danny
CAROLINAAAAA!!! :D We met when we were children 'cause we were neighbors, and we were best friends all throughout grade school. Then we had a little tiff, I got in an accident and moved across the country, and we didn't talk for a while. But now everything's back to normal and we're besties again!! :D
5.  What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Fortune
I like to experiment with cooking and baking.  Since I live in the middle of nowhere, it’s hard to get supplies, so I grow and produce most things myself.  I recently worked on a new, easier recipe for cream.  Bessie and I’ve tried to shorten— *goes on a 30 minute rant about the thickness of cream*
Ruben
What free time O.O  I like playing guitar, but I had to give it up when I started working.  I just don’t have time anymore.*
*It must be noted that Ruben is replying to emails while answering these questions
Fate
As I literally just said—are you even listening?—I listen to music with Chronos when I’m not registering dead people.  I prefer classical music.  My favorite instrument is the lyre, but it’s hard to find recordings :/
Danny
Well, I used to play basketball, but that’s pretty difficult with one arm.  I spend most of my time in the kitchen finetuning recipes for my restaurant.  Otherwise, I hang out with Cecilia, train my dog Mousse, or call up Carolina.  We can talk for hours.
6. What's the hardest thing you've ever had to do?
Fortune
The hardest thing I've done is actually something I do regularly: giving money to people whom I believe don't deserve it. I love to see the look of astonishment or happiness or gratitude on someone's face when they receive money, but it kills me—metaphorically, of course, since I can't actually die—to know that money will go to waste. I have to put my trust in God because He's in control.
Ruben
Attend my mother's funeral. She died too young. Or maybe face my father's wrath for not living up to my mother's expectations. It hurts when someone uses a dead person's words against you.
Fate
Work with my sister. Next?
Danny
Attending therapy was difficult because I had to admit I wasn't doing well. Actually, it was pretty obvious I wasn't doing well, but it was hard to accept help. I thought I was doing fine on my own.
7. Who do you look up to?
Fortune
My darling brother ~ He's a good, generous, successful young man with a good family ^-^
Ruben
...I don't know. I— well... Yeah, I don't know.
Fate
My mother. She is a powerhouse with an unlimited cookie supply.
Danny
My aunt <3 I wouldn't be here if it weren't for her. She is selfless. She is patient. She is loving. She is— *insert every compliment in the book* I'd sing her praises from the rooftops <333

Her full profile is finally here! Seven pages of information! I may have gone down the rabbit hole just a tiny bit!
.
St. Cecilia Jameson
Gender: Cis female
Status: Alive
Occupation: Singer for British rock band Stiletto ("Like the knife or like the shoe?" "Yes.")
Family: Elizabeth Robinson, née Wallis (Mother), Bryony Robinson (Older half-sister), Esme Robinson, née Davies (Grandmother, deceased), Herakles Zafeiriou (Biological father, though she's never met him), Evander Zafeiriou (Older half-brother, who she's also never met, though they've exchanged family photos and stories via email)
Voiced by: Florence Pugh (Speaking), Lzzy Hale (Singing)
Age: A few months younger than Pickles
Date of birth: December 15 (Sagittarius)
Place of birth: Oxford, England
Birth name: Felicity Robinson (Initially, only Sammy knows this, though the rest of SnB learns it at Esme's funeral)
Nicknames: Ceelie (By Pickles and Sammy, mostly, though the Dethklok boys pick it up eventually), Star (By Magnus), princess (By Skwisgaar)
Ethnicity: Half English, half Greek (Though she's unaware of the latter for most of her life)
Height: Five-foot-one
Sexuality: Bisexual
Relationship status: It's complicated. It's always complicated. She's unlucky in love.
Current location: London, England
Appearance: St. Cecilia is a petite woman (She's half a head shorter than Pickles!) with golden skin and long white-blonde hair, which she wears in a high ponytail. She has thick, dark brows and bright brown eyes (Skwisgaar says she has "wolf eyes"). She has three white marigolds tattooed on each shoulder, a labret piercing, and a vertical collarbone piercing at the hollow of her throat. Her ears are pierced three times each, in which she wears two silver hoops and a silver stud on each side, and she has a small black star beneath each eye. She has a Christina piercing, nipple piercings, and a belly button piercing. She has a No Time For Antivenom tattoo on her sternum, and a European robin tattoo at the back of her neck. Along her spine, she has a tattoo reading "to thine own self be true." She has a shitty stick-and-poke crown tattooed behind her right ear. She has a pear body type, with wide hips, a small chest, and an even smaller waist (Nathan can encircle her waist with his hands). She typically wears a black muscle shirt, ripped dark jeans, heavy boots, black driving gloves, and a studded black leather collar with a D-ring at the front. She also wears a Gibson pearl guitar pick on a necklace, which was given to her by Pickles when they first started dating in the 80s. She wears a silver cuff on each ear, and her tongue is pierced with a simple silver stud.
During flashbacks to the Snakes N' Barrels era, she's shown with darker blonde hair cut in a mullet style, and only her labret and ear piercings, plus one on the right side of her nose. She wears a cropped white tank, with high-waisted jeans and black Converse sneakers. She wears mismatched armbands, one black, one striped, and the same collar she wears in the present.
Her more casual look consists of a black button-up shirt with the sleeves pushed up, which she wears tucked into a pair of leather pants. She wears pumps instead of boots, and her hair is twisted up in a clip. She keeps her collar, but doesn't wear the pick necklace or her ear cuff, and she switches her hoop earrings for studs. She doesn't apply her stars.
For fancier occasions, she wears a black dress with spaghetti straps and a very short, flared skirt, black opera gloves and black strap pumps. She, as always, wears her collar with it, and she pulls her hair into a high bun.
Personality: St. She's something of a coquette who flirts with both men and women, and is she has a tendency to "think with her dick," as Tony once put it. She's slow to anger, but quick to jealousy, and she holds grudges for far too long. She's the playful type, but it's largely in a chill way. She's an obvious extrovert, and the role as frontman for Stiletto came very naturally.
Skills & Hobbies: St. Cecilia writes good poetry, great song lyrics, and terrible erotica. She likes plants and is quite the chess player (Though she hasn't managed to beat Charles even once), which she learned during her school days. She also learned to fence, ride horses, and speak fluent Latin there.
Musical Talents: She's a classically trained singer (When she was little, she was part of her church's choir), and she writes most of the song lyrics and some of the music for her band, Stiletto.
Relationships:
They're back together at the end of Doomstar, but there's no way of telling if the love between them is enough to keep them together or if they'll just fall apart all over again.
-Magnus Hammersmith: They were more off-and-on than anything, but they were together for years, even though quite a bit of it was long-distance. It wasn't supposed to be a serious thing. It was just supposed to be a quick fuck. Then it was supposed to be a performance to annoy Pickles, but Magnus quickly realized that St. Cecilia's feelings for Pickles were too strong for her to be any use to him in his revenge plot. Magnus caught a bit of feelings, and when Roy Cornickelson's funeral came around, Magnus warned St. Cecilia not to attend. It was their last interaction, and it forever cast him in a positive light for her, even after she learned what he was doing with the Metal Masked Assassin.
His calling her “princess” becomes a bit of a thing for them. The two of them often have brunch together, talking shit and drinking. She's good for him; He's never had a female friend before.
-Toki Wartooth: Within the series itself, St. Cecilia hasn't given Toki much thought. He's cute, but he's just sorta there. His incident during the SOBERTOWN USA concert really scared her, and she more or less avoids him after that. Post-DSR, though, their relationship changes. He, like her, was hurt by Magnus, and even with him dead, Toki misses him terribly. St. Cecilia misses him, too. As sad as it is, this becomes their common ground. Their other connection, odd as it sounds, is pole dancing. St. Cecilia does it for exercise, and Toki did it for money, and they often compete to see who's better on the pole.
-William Murderface: St. Cecilia actually has a begrudging fondness for Murderface. He's awful, but he's also pretty funny, and she likes to hear him talk about knives and medieval weaponry, as her family home is full of such things. They clash over things, of course, but she likes being around him more often than not.
-Dick Knubbler: They're friends, in a way. She thinks he's kind of a weirdo, but he knows how to have a good time, so as long as he isn't hitting on her, she likes being around him.
-Abigail Remeltincdrinc: They became friends mostly due to the fact that they were both women in the music industry (And both working for Crystal Mountain) and supporting each other seemed the right thing to do. Abigail getting involved with Dethklok and catching Pickles's attention quickly became a sore spot, and they drifted apart after that. After DSR, things got even worse. Abigail, naturally, is glad that Magnus is gone, while St. Cecilia is devastated by the loss. They had something of a falling-out over it, and they haven't really spoken since.
-Family: St. Cecilia's family consists of her mother, Elizabeth, her older sister, Bryony, and her now-deceased grandmother, Esme. St. Cecilia has a very formal, cold relationship with her mother, and she has no desire to change that. As far as she's concerned, her mother doesn't deserve to have a good relationship with her. St. Cecilia adores Bryony, though.
-Snakes N' Barrels: St. Cecilia adores all the boys, of course, but Sammy is the only one she really kept in touch with after the breakup.
-Stiletto: She gets along with them all quite well! She's known Niamh McLoughlin, their bassist, the longest, and their friendship dates back to their school days. Lex Clarke and Priyanka Dayal, the drummer and the guitarist respectively, came as a package deal, as they've been more or less married for years. St. Cecilia adores them and the sweetness of their relationship. She's a little envious of them, actually, though she would never say so.
History:
-Childhood: St. Cecilia was born in Oxford, England to Elizabeth Robinson. She was raised more or less at her family's girls-only boarding school, away from her mother. When she was fourteen, she fell off a horse during an equestrian class and badly injured her shoulder. She was one of the popular girls during her school days, up until she hit fifteen and decided that she was no longer a child and had a right to demand respect from her emotionally distant mother. She quit the piano lessons she had been taking for several years and took up the guitar, though it aggravated her injured shoulder and even as a teen, she developed a dependence on painkillers. This rebellious period stretched until she was sixteen and ran away with the help of her grandmother. St. Cecilia was given her name just before she left, so it would be easier for her to hide, as well as a hefty sum to tide her over until she could get herself settled.
Cecilia stuck with the band for several months before they found Pickles, and she was smitten with him the moment she heard him sing. Esme was an important source of financial support during their formative years. It hurt, but St. Cecilia supposed it was for the best. A clean break, and all that.
-Preklok: After SnB broke up, St. Cecilia returned to Oxford, staying with Bryony in their mother's guest house as she tried to figure out her next move. Despite her gift for writing lyrics, she had no talent for writing books, and that idea quickly went down the drain. She still received a large amount of money in residuals, but she was reduced to a mere socialite, though it mostly agreed with her. At her mother's insistence, she attended a few classes at Oxford University. She absolutely loved it. In 1992, Esme passed away. St. Cecilia only told Sammy about it, but he took the initiative and brought Pickles, Tony and Snazz with him to the funeral. St. Cecilia was initially pissed, but she really appreciated the support. That was the only time she saw Pickles between SnB's breakup and their reunion concert. They signed with the UK branch of Crystal Mountain Records and were assigned the surly but efficient Melinda Glasscock as their manager, and within three years, Stiletto was huge, due in part to St. A few years before canon, she had a quickie with Nathan in a coat room at a singers-only part at Crystal Mountain records, and he used the fact that she couldn't fit her mouth around his dick as inspiration for Dethklok's infamous song "Glasgow Smile."
-Season 1:
-St. Cecilia's first mention within the confines of canon is during Performance Klok, when Pickles mentions he hasn't been in a serious relationship since the '80s despite the fact that he would certainly thrive under such attention.
-She first appears in Snakes N' Barrels, during the documentary the Dethklok is watching. The guys are a little critical when they (Save Nathan, who's known for a long time) learn that part of SnB's downfall was due to Pickles's failed relationship with St. Cecilia. There's some comedic nonsense talk about fucking one's guitarist before Pickles goes to speak with Charles. Though St. Cecilia is working on an album with Stiletto when she's asked to go the reunion, she manages to push through and finish in time, though she arrives nearly late. Cecilia doesn't, as she once humiliated herself by passing out on stage and doesn't wish to repeat the incident.
-Offscreen, but somewhere between the two SnB episodes, Magnus and St. Cecilia abruptly break up. She has a feeling something was going on with him, but his sudden disappearance really hurt her.
She implores of Nathan, "Take care of him, all right?"
They have their share of problems, but the old spark between them is still there. Pickles is honestly a little scared of that: What if he falls for her all over again just for her to break his heart like she did last time? The fact that she has Magnus's guitar makes him doubly suspicious. He starts drinking harder than ever to drown out the thoughts of her.
She asks if this is real, and she's even more worried when he tells her it is.
Pickles reluctantly agrees. Not long after, we see Pickles on his phone, though, debating on calling her just before he notices the storm warning.
-Offscreen, St. Cecilia approaches Charles about a phrase repeated over and over in the journal: Fata sidus oritur, the star of fate is born.
-After Charles breaks the news about Ice Festival to Skwisgaar in Bookklok, he goes to speak with St.
Cecilia to an observatory, where they meet with Ishnifus and spend a few days tracking the Doomstar's movement as it comes closer and closer to Earth.
-In Going Downklok, when Pickles shows up all decked out for his meeting with Abigail, Nathan is quick to ask, "Don't you have a girlfriend?" Pickles insists he doesn't; He and St. Cecilia was hurt and angry the last time they spoke. On top of that, he believes she's all the way in London, and Abigail is right there.
-Offscreen, between Dethdinner and Breakup Klok, St. Cecilia is tagged in the video of Pickles leaving Dethklok by a drunken Toki. She's incredibly hurt. Pickles has nothing, he said. She, apparently, is nothing.
-In Breakup Klok, Pickles tries to call St. Cecilia to invite her to his wine tasting, but she refuses to answer and sends him straight to voicemail.
Cecilia chucks a bottle at the TV, mirroring Pickles's actions in SnB II.
Ishnifus places a hand upon her shoulder, and they sing together, "The Deth lights are within you all waiting to be woken/And when the five are united, the evil will be broken," in a show of solidarity.
Trivia:
-The stars on her cheeks are actually a makeup trick, as she's afraid to have a needle so close to her eyes.
-She smokes Honeyrose Cherry cigarettes (Which have roughened her voice a bit), but she doesn't drink to excess, save when she's with Pickles. He's a terrible influence on her, but she adores him just the same. Considering him and Magnus, she has rather bad taste in men.
-Her signature scent is Estée Lauder's Cinnabar, which features notes of jasmine, orange blossom, cloves, and patchouli. She uses a cinnamon body oil when she wants to get Pickles's attention. It always works.
-She wants nothing more than to be loved, but she's keenly aware of the fact that most of the people who "love" her only want to coast on her fame. It's resulted in her having a hard time trusting people. The fact that Pickles and the rest of Dethklok don't need to coast off her is part of why she likes them so much.
-She's an iced coffee addict, and she prefers chocolate, caramel, or hazelnut varieties.
-She was raised Catholic, and while she lapsed a long time ago, she has occasional bouts of Catholic Guilt. Her name is related to her religion, as St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music.
-Her preferred alcohol is Bombay Sapphire gin, though she also likes white wine and champagne.
-She's a plant mom. Her flat is full of plants, including a little devil's tongue cactus she bought at a farmer's market in LA when she first came to America. It's traveled the world with her! It lived in the cupholder of Snazz's van for several years, and now it lives in her kitchen, perched on top of the microwave.
-She has a pretty serious oral fixation. She's always got something in her mouth: A cigarette, a pen, a popsicle, someone's fingers, a dick. Depends on her mood. Getting her tongue pierced helped a little, as she can play with the stud, but some habits just can't be broken.
-She and the rest of Stiletto own a condo building in London together, and she naturally has the penthouse to herself. It's very airy and open, with lots of mirrors and plants and exposed brick. One corner of her living room is just a huge window that looks out on the city. It's her favorite feature. Magnus is too nervous to go near it.

Romans chapter 1.
-by bethany snow
"As it took armies to defeat the Greeks, Romans, and the Ottomans. As will it take armies to defeat you. This body of students will be one with doctors, poets, scientists, all in the highest of your field I have no doubt. Today you will be transitioning to a new life, with new challenges and all encompassing ideals you have not thought of. You will face yourself in ways in these halls unlike you have ever done in your day to day life. That is how you learn. That is how we as humans evolve. In this school, we do not take failure as the answer. If you do? I suggest you walk out this instant. Failure is what drove man to the brink. Failure is what makes ships at sea sink. This is non negotiable. You will be here for 6 years from this point on. You will learn from the brightest minds in the world. Each day is an uphill battle, and that is to be expected. You will become stronger in will, your backs may break, so as your hearts; such as the greats have. You will persevere. You will be the polished gold on this Academy's glorious reputation. I welcome you to St. Cecilia  Hedera Academy.”
The gentleman that stood behind the podium was tall, thin, and overall a breeze away from death. The white hair on his head was swept back and his nose beaked over the gathered crowd of privileged tweens. He gripped the podium, looking over every single pair of eyes. Some were scared, some frankly didn’t care who was saying what. The upperclassmen were more preoccupied with who they were sitting next to than the man giving a speech. Rolling his eyes with a knowing twinkle he continued.
“You will be sectioned off by sex, age, and bracket. Make due with what is your future or it will make due with you. I ask for a welcome for Southern Dormitories Head Boy Mr. Nathan McCarthy.”
The man stepped down and who to be presumed as Nathan McCarthy stood up and ordered everyone into lines and to find on their registration the cardinal dorm they would stay in and which level and room and to unpack.
This would be the start of our great adventure.
Michaels eyes flicked up to everyone starting to file out. Fixing his bag on his shoulder, he joined in the line of others roughly his age and followed to the Northern Boys Dormitory.
Stone masonry hundreds of years old made the first floor of the dormitory. On top was a neo classical take on Tudor architecture with tasteful gothic pieces. Iron work windows and dead flower boxes hung from sills. The building was long and boys shouted rejoice over meeting again after the summer months. The center hall layed way to a gathering space with red upholstered chairs, fire place, and a bookshelf kept together with duct tape and a strategically placed throw blanket.
Despite the merry making the new students swirled in circles wishing to find a foothold in where they should be.
“Room 6B”
Written in red pen on his transcript, Michael knocked on the door. It opened to an empty room with three beds shoved in a corner. The mattresses were without sheets, and an oak wardrobe stood at attention. The window looked out to the inner courtyard. A fountain sprayed water from the hand of a stone woman covered in lillies. Students in various states of uniform gathered and spoke. Sharing stories of the summer, embellished as they might be. Michaels room was still in the friendly chaos of others. A deafening silence. At peace.
Michaels bags were already at the end of his bed and so he began to unpack.
Looking in the mirror his mother demanded to send with him, his eyes glanced over his features. Bags gripped his eyes from the train ride over, his black hair fell forward.
"This is gonna be a long year" he thought, fussing over his reflection.
"Outta 6 kids, i'm the one who had to look like dad.." mumbling to himself as two others filed in and started to unpack. With silent nods of acknowledgement and hellos. Michael stepped out of his room and into the hall. Opening quickly, instead of creaks was “Damnit!!”
Looking over, a blond boy stood by the door clutching his nose.
“What's your problem mate?”
“Sorry, my bad. Uh, you alright there?”
“Well no you knob, my nose might be broken!” slowly the blond boy lifted his hands away so show his nose.
“It's not bleeding, at least I didn’t actually punch your nose”
“Rather that actually, then’it has some dignity don't it? Issac Moore, you?” Extending a hand.
“Oh! Um Michael McCarthy-”
“Like...Nathan McCarthy?? The twat whose knickers keep getting twisted?”
Michael shoved his hands in his pockets. His notorious elder brother was famous on SCHA campus. Mainly for being a complete narcissistic bastard, but famous on campus nonetheless.
“Yea-yeah that's my brother...unfortunately. You think that's bad? Try going to dinner with him and 4 other siblings who idolize the prat.” Both laughing to themself quietly.
“Ya know what mate?-” Issac looked through squinted eyes.”-Your cool, stick with me ya? Make this far more interesting.”
They walked to Isaac's room which had already been unpacked. The room itself mirrored Michaels. Three beds shoved in a corner, but decorations were up and sheets were on mattresses.
Issac stood seven inches taller than michael. Lean, his buttoned shirt was speckled with brown spots. A ivy green vest hung off his shoulders. Issac wasn’t overly handsome, but his river eyes undressed him in ways he didn’t know were a thing.
Or it could just be because Issac was confident. Leaning back on his chair talking to the other roommates.
Michael looked at the other people in the room. A set of twins by the looks of it. One introduced himself as Andy, he had faded seafoam hair, a leather jacket with patches ranging from anti-facisit and LGBTQ+ to gun control. Koi fish cufflinks were pinned to his lapel. He pulled out a septum ring from his nose, twitching like a rabbit.
His brother on the other hand was different. The other introduced himself as Eli, he was soft. Sat on the bed with a large owl squishmallow in his lap. If it wasn’t for the heavy essex accent you would think he belonged to an idol group. Eli was pretty, properly pretty. Issac playfully punched Michaels shoulder.
“Mate, you keep staring at the floor, it's gonna take ya.” Issac commented. Michael pushed back.
They both smiled at one another.
“Well, the day has only started and already made friends. So this can’t be all bad.” Michael thought, looking at this trio of misfits. His shoulders lowered with a sigh. The four of them started to give Michael a grand tour of the campus. Going through the stone arches and cobbled floor. The sunlight peeked through the clouds and brightened the day.
This would be the start of a great adventure.

African and African Diaspora Classical Singers: An Incomplete List
For quite a while now, I’ve been contemplating a series of posts about opera and other classical singers, grouping them into various more-or-less arbitrary “identity” categories, as an antidote to the pernicious fiction that classical music is in some way exclusionary. I had envisioned something quite elaborate, with numerous small photos of the kind that require placing multiple photos in the same file (which would mean learning how to create such a file... ). Something like that may yet happen, but I wanted this one to be at least somewhat timely, so for the time being I’m simply giving you a list.
Some of these artists are up-and-comers; some of their careers were at their height in the 1970s, when I first began paying attention; a few go back further than that. I’ve included a few of the younger ones solely on the basis of reputation, without having heard them. Not all are or were A-listers, but they are all people who sing or sang Western classical music for a living, or taught others to do so, or a combination of the two. (And the list is definitely incomplete: I’m posting this later than I had planned because I kept remembering names to include.)
Please note: I have not included Paul Robeson here because (a) he appears to have received no formal training whatsoever and (b) his repertoire was at best on the outer fringes of classical music. As brilliant an artist as he was, he is more accurately described as a folk singer.
The country given is that of the singer’s birth, not necessarily where they’ve made a career.
I invite you to learn more about these and other artists:

The Purest Fanfiction
I’m a big sucker for bad fanfiction; hit me with that “My Immortal” shit. We used to read that out loud at the lunch table in college. We also used to search for our hedgehogsonas on Google. You’d just type “[your name] the hedgehog” into the search and bam, there you were, pictures and all.  I have since changed my name, but I have never since found a more incredible piece of absurd, pure fanfiction than “Katie the Hedgehog” from the Sonic fan wiki. The pacing, the spelling, the name choices for every character are *chef’s kiss* incredible. The original wiki page has since been edited to say “the ride never ends, Jimmy,” and filled with troll faces, but I somehow had the foresight back in 2017 to save it in a word document, preserving it until this month of great darkness when we needed it most. Without further ado I present to you: Katie the Hedgehog.
Katie the Hedgehog== Katie is a Dark Purple Hedgehog with pink boots and a yellow bandage. In 2012 she wears the same bandage but she has shoes instead and a purple - pink dress. She is 12 years old, born on 17 June 1999. She has cock attacks, which are powerful and helps her deafeat her enemies. She has new powers such as a magentic stove, and voice activated, such as power boost, heal and constume change.
Katie was born inside a Capsule, with a Hedgehog called Thrust the Dark. He made her do lots of things for him, like washing up, and hanging out clothes. After she did it all, he said she can go out anywhere for 2 whole hours. Katie was relaxing on the beach untill a Orange and Silver Hedgehog walked along. His name was Mark, and the two knew each other quickly, and became a couple. Then both of them met Metal Tender, a yellow robot with dark blue shoes. Katie used her hammer tohit him, and then Mark and her went to Mexico city. On a hill, there was a Black and white Hedgehog, and the couple went so fast, they couldn't see him. They rolled onto the ground and they met the Hedgehog. His name was Twist and they produced a Team name called Team Cecilia's. Three days later Katie made posters for people who would like to join the team. No one joined and it was winter time. Katie turned a villian and set off. Twist quietly made a new team name with Mark, and they called it Team Ultimate. They told Metal Tender, Shadow, and Doctor Eggman to join. They agreed.
Two months later, Katie the Hedgehog became a lifeguard in surfing, and she helped SonicFang from drowning in the water. After that a brown Hedgehog walked in. His name was Ja'Corey Jackson and they became friends. Then suddenly Ja'Corey had a battle in surfing with Rannat, and they Ja'Corey fell into the water. Katie went and saved him, then took him to SonicFang, the surfing pro. Katie had to go and get some claims and went to check on them. Katie took Ja'Corey somewhere fun - Lava slides. Days later Katie went to the beach and found him and SonicFang training. She took her surfboard and went with them. Ja'Corey won the SonicFang Memorial surf off and then Katie and him became a couple.
When Ja'Corey got married to Katie, they became King and Queen, fustrating the main King, Zapper. The army of Ja'Corey told him he was no longer King, so he ran away crying. 1 year later, Ja'Corey and Katie had children, one was called Humalog, and the other Solar. They were then Prince and Princess, and their parents showed them their family. Katie's fans are loving the fact that she's Queen, and they still are.
After a few struggles, Katie and Ja'Corey divorced, and her children were sent to care due to her exit from Gameset Land.
Katie was saving the animals, once more, and later on she saw a Cat version of herself. Her name is called Kitty and she can't talk. She sign - languaged it, and they became best friends.
Katie never returned for 5 months, and then she returned with 2 other friends, Sky Drifter and Bubby. She wanted to see the gold laterns for her birthday. Then she saw Twist, and she apologised and now she is back as a hero. So Twist took her to see the laterns and then they ended up being in a strong good friend relationship.
About 6 months later, Katie was renamed to "Holley Shiftwell" and she has power ability. After, she met a person named DonPaule, a German Hedgehog who likes eating rice and is commander of east part of Germany. After they started to know each other, they became best friends, and they still are now. Holley found out that DonPaule was a DJ with SonicFang and Steve.
2 weeks later, Holley met Darker, a Hedgehog from Serbia. He looked like a vampire but Holley didn't mind and they ended up being in a relationship. Later she heard that Darker was Racing_Splashstripes from World Of Cars, and you can friend him on Facebook. Holley, Darker and DonPaule became a team, and the team is called Overdrive, the idea is from Sonic Heroes.
The main owner of Katie (Holley Shiftwell) decided to give her a new look. Now she is a full power type, with yellow skin and extra features added. Now her shadow is a yellow pheonix.
