the MOKELE-MBEMBE BICHIR:

As a preface, I know nothing about this fish aside from my little google research. I couldn’t find anything on its bones, so I assume that it has the normal amount and is just a good chunky little guy. It is very very cute, but still a pretty regular looking fish, moderate funk. A lot of things talked about snails eating the slime off of them, so I assume that they are gunky little guys!

The red parrot cichlid is a type of fish that can only exist in an aquarium because it is a hybrid of different species of cichlids. Its existence is controversial, to say the least.

One of my first memories of using a computer was the interactive screensaver MOPy fish, which happened to feature a red parrot cichlid. It is so old that it doesn't run on current versions of Windows.

These fish are cichlids (SICK-lids), a hugely diverse group of fish of which the majority—at least 250 species—live in Africa’s Lake Tanganyika. They’re all extremely territorial but have evolved from a single ancestor over millennia to fill every niche in the continent’s second-oldest lake.

Convict cichlid!

They form long-lasting pairs and will perform co-parenting duties, the females tend to fan out the eggs and stay near them while the male patrols the area and protects the eggs and female from predators. It has been found that these fish can actually become pessimistic if they aren't allowed to be near their preferred partners!

I got a little group of green phase heros efasciatus severums for the 125 a couple weeks ago! I haven’t kept these guys in years, I had forgotten just how expressive and personable they are! They follow me around every time I walk by the tank. Can’t wait to watch them grow over the next several years. They’ve been following one of my big male angels around, he’s confused by his new adoptive children.
