forgot how upsetting the doctor regenerating is

When he says he brought coffee from the shop across the road, is The Metatron asking Aziraphale if he wants coffee or death? And Aziraphale takes the coffee so, not death? I know there's a whole the coffee was spiked with something theory that I don't really get but is it maybe this simple?

I'm not sure I fully comprehend whatever emotional manipulation was going on with The Metatron suggesting Aziraphale bring Crowley to Heaven, though. Crowley is asking Aziraphale to cut ties with Heaven, go no contact as it were, and Aziraphale is trying to convince Crowley that it'll be different this time, they've changed, it'll be better, etc.

I got to meet my favorite Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, at NY Comic Con today.

I am so happy right now.

Eccleston’s panel was amazing. He’s so hilarious and he was very open. He talked a lot about his new book and his experience taking care of his father while he had dementia, and was so sincere when a couple of the fans who asked questions bought up their own fathers’ illnesses. And it was interesting to hear about things he’s done that I haven’t seen, like the Leftovers. And he really wanted to make sure to reiterate what he’s said at other panels and in interviews, that he loved being the Doctor and loves the fans that came from it. He knows that the media tried to paint him in a bad light, but he left the show because of his relationship with production, not because he didn’t enjoy being the Doctor and being a part of the show’s history. One of my favorite things he said during the panel was something along the lines of “He has two hearts, so he has a lot of love to give. That’s what playing the Doctor meant to me.”

Also at one point he said “fantastic” without meaning to reference Nine, but the audience started giggling, so he stopped talking and just started laughing at himself when he realized what he said. It was adorable.

I got to go to his autograph session later in the afternoon. He complimented my name, Hope, and told me that he thought it was beautiful. He said that most of the members of his family (and possibly himself too but I can’t remember now) had been born in a hospital called Hope Hospital, but it had been renamed and he was really upset about it because he thought Hope was a perfect name (he even talks about it in his new book). But yeah, him immediately complimenting my name and telling me a story about how much he loves my name made me go from starstruck to like... frozen in happiness. I couldn’t say much more after that besides that he was my favorite Doctor and that I was so happy to be meeting him.

My mom had come to comic con with me (she wanted to meet Nichelle Nichols, and honestly I fangirled over Nichelle more than my mom did when we did) so she got to talk to him during my autograph session too. During his panel, Chris said that one of the things he is a big fan of is black American music, which immediately made me and my mom joke that he should come over to our house. So during the autograph session, my mom said “Hey, if you like black music, you should listen to WBGO on Saturday mornings. Their Rhythm Revue is Motown and R&B all morning” and Chris took out his phone and actually WROTE DOWN what my mom said. So basically, now my mom’s respect for Chris has multiplied by a billion.

I wish I could have said more to him during the autograph session, but I don’t know what I would have said. I was kind of still in shock that I was meeting my favorite Doctor. I never thought I’d get a chance to meet him since he never did conventions before this year, and I’d kind of accepted that. Even when I found out he was coming to NY Comic Con this year, I was still on the fence about going. But when I read this article a week or two ago, I decided then that I had to go to Comic Con and meet him. So I bought last minute tickets to the only day that was still open, which was luckily one of the two days Christopher is here and the day of his panel. And I got to meet him.

Basically, I am really happy right now. And I have never loved Christopher Eccleston and the Ninth Doctor more.

Even if you're not familiar with norse myths I'd say that the Gaiman book is still really enjoyable 😊It's not too heavy and a lot of the stories he chooses are the more well known ones. It's only about 300 pages, so it's not too long either. I think you can get a preview of a few pages through google, so that might be a good way to see if it's something you'd like or not. - CC 🦊

A lot of the Doctor Who books feel like they could be their own little episode, which is nice. It's been a few years since I read them but I remember enjoying The Stone Rose, The Stealers of Dreams, Invaders from Mars and The Glamour Chase. There's also a huge range of audiobooks where the actors have returned to their old roles. Recently this year it was announced that Christopher Eccleston was coming back to work on some Ninth Doctor audiobooks 😱- CC 🦊

Also, if you're interested in any of the older Doctors, I'd highly suggest looking into Eighth Doctor audiobooks! The actor sadly only got one really odd 90's movie and a short for the 50th to act the role on film, so the audiobooks really let the character shine and give him a chance. And some sci-fi I can recommend are Aurora Rising, There Will Come Soft Rains, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. There's also Jurassic Park but is it sci-fi? Is it horror? Either way there's dinosaurs! - CC 🦊

Omg no but I totally get how you feel with horror! I'm really fussy with the genre myself since I often get bored or annoyed with it if it's not done right 🤣I usually read before bed so that's probably not a good decision on my part either! And omg, Brooklyn 99 and Queer Eye are amazing! I love Jonathan Van Ness, he's always so happy and positive all the time. I looked at the preview for Norse Mythology and it actually sounds so interesting!! But I fear that I will imagine the characters as they are in the Marvel Universe 😅 Aaahhh it’s always nice to get some more Ninth Doctor!! I should probably check out the audiobooks if the actors are reprising their roles for them but I gotta check where I can download English audiobooks. And can you believe I never watched the original Jurrassic Park movies? 😬 I should probably get around to that... 

Yeah, some horror books sound really intriguing but then I look at my massive TBR/wishlist and think to myself... well I rather spend my money on this other book that I’ve wanted for 3 months now so 🤷🏻‍♀️ Honestly, this year wasn’t as good of a reading year as I’d hoped it would be. But some books I enjoyed were The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James (YA Sci-Fi), The Sinclair’s Mysteries Series (Middlegrade Historical Mystery), Eight Detectives (Adult Mystery) and Call Down The Hawk (YA Urban Fantasy). What about your reading year?

YES! omg let’s do it!! But let’s wait until you can reveal yourself so we can scream at each other in DMs 😅 JVN is a national treasure, I love him!! But tbh I love all of them! 💕 I just googled New Legend of Monkey bc I’ve never heard of it and the fact it’s a Aussie/NZ production based on a Japanese show which in turn is based on a Chinese novel.. love it! And it even is on german netflix!

Hahaha yeah I guess my love for Yibo is not a secret 😂  But I do love the other cast members as well!! (Fun fact: before I started watching cql I thought wwx was more attractive but I quickly learned my lesson and fell HARD for lwj and in turn yibo askdjgffdk) Yibo is just.... aaaaaahhhhhhhh I just love him so much, your honor!! He’s a classic case of do I want to marry you or be you?? Like his gender presentation??? HELLOOOO??? I want that!! And when he wears earrings and has slightly longer hair (and ideally wears makeup but that’s optional he looks fantastic without it as well) I! WANT! TO! DIEEEEEE!!! Then there’s the fact he’s a lil gremlin boy and he basically hates us askdjgksdfghkdf like I feel like he’s so done with the entertainment industry/the fanservice that’s expected of him and honestly, that’s valid and relatable. I also don’t want to do the things I’m supposed to do for work even though I chose this job 😂 Like that live where he was supposed to talk to his fans for an hour and he was just like uuugghhh how do ppl talk for an hour, this is exhausting askdjghkdf SAME!! And I feel like this makes him seem more grounded (though obv I don’t know him so who knows what he’s really like) He isn’t forcing a smile for the cameras because he is supposed to. If he doesn’t want to smile he won’t and I gotta respect that! Then there’s the fact that he’s so multitalented! Like is there anything he CAN’T do????? Act, dance, sing, motorcycle, skate, etc. the list goes on! And he’s such an amazing dancer, and I dance hiphop myself so I’m very !!!!!! about it all. I REALLY want to get dance lessons from him like he’d probably scream at me to do better and I’d thank him for it aksdhgdkfjg omg I gushed way too much about yibo ok I’m gonna go now. summarising my ny and nycc experience here before i forget!

my phone decided to die on the plane there so i had to run to best buy to get another one but hey it worked out because i got so much better pics of nycc ^^

saw leonardo dicaprio walking the streets of greenwich and was so shocked i couldn’t move for a minute or two

got cheap on the day tix to betrayal on broadway. it was so amazing and riveting. charlie came out to sign autographs and i got a selfie or two with tom hiddleston!

had a mini geek fit over the actual ghostbusters fire station

attended the christopher eccleston panel and had a photo op with him where he held my hand

attended the 20th century fox panel where we had a preview of ‘the king’s man’ and ‘free guy’. people in attendance included matthew vaughn, djimon hounson, ralph fiennes, jodie comer, joe keery, shawn levy and a surprise ryan reynolds! we also got free ‘free guy’ swag

attended the tolkien panel with sean astin and billy boyd. snap bought selfie ops with both of them who were so sweet. selfie ops should be more of a thing, i had more time to talk to each of them. billy actually took my phone because i was shaking so hard i couldn’t take the image and started spam taking them. he gave me a hug and sean gave me a high five. i love them so much.

visited the brooklyn bridge, manhattan bridge and got pastrami at katz delicatessen

attended the riverdale cast panel (with the parents) and the manifest cast panel (full cast). got a selfie with parveen kaur!

Kissing Cousins 💋

If GRRM pairs Jon and Sansa together then it won’t really do much to faze me since i’ve seen other works that have cousin relationships in them. Here’s a list of the ones i’ve seen or at least know about from movies or tv series with a slight gif spam in each little section. ;)

1.) Gone With The Wind? Ashley and Melanie? It was actually considered the norm for their family.  "You know the Wilkes always marry their cousins,” it’s said to Scarlett O’Hara who wants Ashley for her own. 

2.) Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park? You guessed it! It’s about two cousins who eventually fall in love with each other.

3.) I just finished watching the first season of BBC’s Victoria. At one point in the series Queen Victoria meets her cousin, Prince Albert. Of course, they fall in love after a rocky start. 

4.) Anyone watched the movie Sissi? A young emperor and an Austrian princess, both cousins, meet and fall in love. The only problem: he’s suppose to marry her sister. If you want to watch this one you’ll have to find a version with English subtitles unless you understand German. This one is a trilogy so there are two other movies besides this one. 

5.) Then there’s Matthew Crawley and Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey. 

6.) There’s Jane Eyre and St. John Rivers from Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. He proposes but she refuses. (Couldn’t find any gifs for this one.)

7.) And Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Collins. Poor Lizzy. lol

8.) I haven’t seen this one but there’s also a movie called Jude (1996) with Christopher Eccleston and Kate Winslet about two cousins falling for each other but are married to other people. 

That’s it! Or at least the ones i know about. So Jon and Sansa getting together?

Pfft! Bring on season eight. I’m ready for Jonsa!

What? Who? Huh?

Hi all,

So here’s the blog I made in response to this post about creating a designated space for resistance politics in the fandom. And I want to quickly answer a few questions.  I know there will be more, so feel free to drop them in my ask box and I’ll get to them as we roll this thing out.

What?

Well firstly, what this site becomes depends largely on you guys. This is not something I can, or particularly want to do on my own. But in general my thinking is that this will be a home site for people in the fandom who are concerned about the Trump and alt-right agenda to come together and support each other.  I’d like this blog to achieve three things:

Host a space for people to discuss their political concerns.

Build community to support each other.

Be action oriented.

All of these things basically come back to the idea that without strong networks and communities of people supporting each other, a resistance to Trump’s policies is never going to last 4 years.  We have a strong, albiet virtual community here and it’s something we can tap into. Holding a seperate space allows us to do that, without endlessly spamming people on our main blogs (not that you can’t or shouldn’t post on your main blog as well, this just takes some of the pressure off.)

Who?

In short? You. Fan bloggers, writers, artists, cosplayers, people who like to post pictures of drool worthy actors.  Honestly we don’t need a lot of people although that would be great.  I just need a few other people who are willing to be actively involved.  If you just want to lurk, that’s cool too.  

Also, a little about me: I am @whatwecanfic I like to write and read smutty, cracky and altogether ridiculous fanfic in the Doctor x Rose, Who fandom.  I also enjoy objectifying David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston.  I have a snarky sense of humor that gets me into trouble, and my online persona is utterly immature and ridiculous, and sadly may be my most genuine expression of self.  In real life however, I am the mother of two amazing girls (1 and 5 yo), and prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom I worked as a community organizer focusing on the needs of low-income  inner-city children and families.  I am passionate about civil rights and community justice.
