Comparison Trauma is when you minimize your trauma experience because you believe somebody else experience was worst. The phrase “There is always somebody doing worst than you” is problematic when dealing with trauma. Emotions from our trauma experience need to be processed, or it will show up in our relationships and physical health. Be patient with yourself, pray, and seek therapy

Is your THERAPIST making YOU sicker?

(part 1/7)

I’m a Therapist myself, BUT I’ve had FAR TOO MANY patients sit on my couch sharing how their own former therapist spewed the following PSEUDO-psychological NONSENSE:

(1) “You’re DEPRESSED because you have a chemical imbalance & pills, pills, pills for the REST OF YOUR FREAKIN’ LIFE is the ONLY way!”

(CLINICAL QUESTION: Exactly what lab panel & CRYSTAL BALL determined this?)

(2) “You’re ANXIOUS because of this or that TOXIC, CONTROLLING, MANIPULATING, GAS-LIGHTING person you need to GET OUT of your life.”

(ETHICS QUESTION: Doesn��t the “DO NO HARM” mandate for clinicians apply to those the clinician is doing harm to with this practice of perjorative LABELING?)

(3) “You can’t heal a feeling PROBLEM with a thinking SOLUTION.”

(NEUROSCIENCE QUESTION: Why would a CLINICIAN teach FEELINGS are a PROBLEM? Isn’t this teaching patients to CATASTROPHIZE what all humans have? “Feelings”. When you tell your brain something is a “problem”, it begins to respond as if it REALLY were a problem by engaging in a cascade of fight or flight responses.

(4) “Your MARRIAGE is troubled because you’re spouse is TOXIC, CONTROLLING, MANIPULATING, GAS-LIGHTING”

Quick THERAPY PRO Tip: Your therapist’s license does NOT put them in a position to MAKE DECISIONS FOR YOU. For example, “Get a divorce”. Such “advice” is UNETHICAL!!! These are YOUR decisions ALONE. The clinician’s job is to help you develop tools for HEALTHY decision-making; NOT TELL YOU what DECISIONS to make.

***Here is a message of LOVE for Pseudo-PSY, Kool-Aid-Drinking therapists: Learn ethical, evidence-based protocols & follow them or FIND ANOTHER JOB. McDonalds is hiring every day. I truly say this to HELP you STOP harming patients with woo-woo, social-media PSEUDO-psychological claptrap.

Brave therapy-seeker, don’t listen to ANYONE (psychologist, psychiatrist, Pope, or Grand PooBAH) who would tell you that YOUR mental health struggles are out of YOUR POWER to CHANGE (i.e., external locus of control).

You FIRST engineer your thoughts, THEN your thoughts engineer your life (i.e., emotions & behaviors). Don’t drink the woo-woo social medial, pseudo-psy kool-aid.
