I forget that non-wrestling fans are seeing The Iron Claw and have no idea about The Von Erich family

So after reading more about the Von Erichs and rewatching a lot of their old matches I realized they cut another part of their story but I totally get why as before the movie started in 1979 David's first marriage had just ended and he moved back home. But not only that his baby daughter had also passed from SIDS the year before. His ex-wife likely is still alive and didn't want that depicted in the movie but now I know when I re-watch it I'm going to know that really happened just like how they also cut the youngest brother Chris, David's 2nd wife Trisha, and Kerry's daughters out of the movie too. I do think if this had been a miniseries they would've told it in full so I get why they did this with the movie and how tragic it all is and how good the movie turned out but there also was more of a focus on Kevin. Plus, it changes that scene with David finding out Kevin's going to be a dad. Also have a spoilerly thought too but makes me wonder how Harris would've handled that additional storyline, same with Jeremy playing Kerry as a father too.
For those that saw the movie the ending where Kerry reunited with his brothers in heaven it made me think of how Chris would've been there too as well as David's baby daughter. It would've been even more emotional than it was. 😭

To the non wrestling fans that have watched or are going to watch The Iron Claw for the first time, make no mistake about it Fritz Von Erich loved his sons and they all loved him. Kevin Von Erich still speaks positively of his father to this day. Keep in mind he was never the same and never really learned how to cope with the loss of his first born son. Wrestling and success for himself and his family was the only way he could cope. Was he hard on his sons? Absolutely. Did he love his sons? Absolutely. It was just one heartbreaking tragedy after another. I highly recommend you watch Dark Side of the Ring: The Last of the Von Erichs to hear for yourself the real story behind the Von Erich family.

Small Package: The Sad Saga of Chris Von Erich
Small Package: The Sad Saga of Chris Von Erich

Most fans are already well versed on the many tragedies of the Von Erich family throughout the years. The combination of their rock star lifestyles and the insane amount of pressure to live up to the Von Erich name certainly caught up to them. Whether it was drugs, alcohol or the desire to make their father Fritz proud…each of the Von Erich tragedies have there own story. The one…

Had to share this pic from a Von Erich family fan account on Instagram that Kevin's son Marshall also posted in his stories today. This is a pic of the family back in the 70s when Kevin, David, and Kerry were all teenagers and Mike and Chris were little. Fascinating to me to see what they looked like pre-wrestling and weirdly I actually see Kevin and David here looking even more like Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson when they were younger. 😀

More images from the Kevin & Kerry match recently posted to YouTube. I'm looking for dramatic and well-acted scenes like this in the "Iron Claw" movie, coming to movie screens this Friday, 12/22 (Merry Christmas to ME!) Hey here's an idea -- maybe the actors from Iron Claw should now wrestle for one of the Big Federations to promote their film! I'd sure like to see Zac and Jeremy take on FTR or Pretty Deadly or the Bucks! It's not the first time an actor put on trunks and got in the ring.
Above we see Kerry playing Ragdoll-In-Peril in a Chris Adams sleeper. Each time Kerry rises to his feet, Adams yanks the big dummy back down with a handful of hair.
Kevin can't understand why his younger brother is so submissive, willing to play jobber for their enemies. Kev hollers aggressively at Kerry to man up from outside the ring. (I wonder if the film will explore the Alpha and Beta roles of the brothers and Kerry's propensity to serve as Face-in-Peril in contrast to Kevin's ego-driven Knight-in-Shining-Trunks schtick?)
Here we see Kevin obey the rules as the Good Cowboy in White to avoid offending his screaming fans at ringside. So he waits outside the ropes in compliance with Tag Team regulations, watching his jobbery brother taken down again and again. Give us some of this Ring Psychology in the movie, please!
Spoiler alert (for this match, not for the film...). The Heels will go on to throw a caustic powder into Kevin's eyes to utterly disable him, which allows them to double-team Kerry and then easily pin him! Always a satisfying finish, when the Bad Guys cheat to win!
Jeremy, oops I mean KERRY, is humiliated in this scene, kicked in the throat then covered for the One, Two, Three.
