Don't know how I didn't know this till today but A24 and "The Iron Claw" director Sean Durkin made a Zine that features so much about the real family and how they made the movie but also they have posters in each one of Zac, Harris, and Jeremy done in the style of posters that Kevin, David, and Kerry actually did for WCCW!!! 😀 They look so cool and similar to the ones my Dad saved as he's got a whole bunch of those old wrestling magazines he saved from back then. Sharing a few Tweets of the posters.

Also wanted to let those who watched the movie there's also an episode of "Dark Side of the Ring" that was all about the Von Erich's and it was first time Kevin opened up about it. I finally was able to watch and it went into so much detail and things that were left out or slightly changed in the movie. Also I've seen Kevin's sons Marshall and Ross wrestling lately on AEW/ROH but in this doc they were getting their start and realized how much his sons resemble his brothers, especially Marshall with David and Ross with Kerry (more so Ross clean shaven as he's got a beard lately). Which again I'm hoping AEW signs them soon and since they'll be back in Texas next month.
Also curious if Zac, Harris, Jeremy, and Stanley are going to show up on AEW too instead of WWE as I saw A24 signed a new deal with WBD so their movies will go to Max/HBO for streaming/TV and they own the networks AEW airs on and MJF played Lance (as did a few other AEW wrestlers as others in a few scenes too). So if they show up on a wrestling show it'd be there especially if they sign Marshall and Ross. 😏

To the non wrestling fans that have watched or are going to watch The Iron Claw for the first time, make no mistake about it Fritz Von Erich loved his sons and they all loved him. Kevin Von Erich still speaks positively of his father to this day. Keep in mind he was never the same and never really learned how to cope with the loss of his first born son. Wrestling and success for himself and his family was the only way he could cope. Was he hard on his sons? Absolutely. Did he love his sons? Absolutely. It was just one heartbreaking tragedy after another. I highly recommend you watch Dark Side of the Ring: The Last of the Von Erichs to hear for yourself the real story behind the Von Erich family.

So after reading more about the Von Erichs and rewatching a lot of their old matches I realized they cut another part of their story but I totally get why as before the movie started in 1979 David's first marriage had just ended and he moved back home. But not only that his baby daughter had also passed from SIDS the year before. His ex-wife likely is still alive and didn't want that depicted in the movie but now I know when I re-watch it I'm going to know that really happened just like how they also cut the youngest brother Chris, David's 2nd wife Trisha, and Kerry's daughters out of the movie too. I do think if this had been a miniseries they would've told it in full so I get why they did this with the movie and how tragic it all is and how good the movie turned out but there also was more of a focus on Kevin. Plus, it changes that scene with David finding out Kevin's going to be a dad. Also have a spoilerly thought too but makes me wonder how Harris would've handled that additional storyline, same with Jeremy playing Kerry as a father too.
For those that saw the movie the ending where Kerry reunited with his brothers in heaven it made me think of how Chris would've been there too as well as David's baby daughter. It would've been even more emotional than it was. 😭

Small Package: The Sad Saga of Chris Von Erich
Small Package: The Sad Saga of Chris Von Erich
Brian Damage Most fans are already well versed on the many tragedies of the Von Erich family throughout the years. The combination of their rock star lifestyles and the insane amount of pressure to live up to the Von Erich name certainly caught up to them. Whether it was drugs, alcohol or the desire to make their father Fritz proud…each of the Von Erich tragedies have there own story. The one…
