Imagine the white beard pirates doing a cheesy crew costume
Tumblr media
During a failing brainstorming meeting
Ace: uck, who decided that the yonkos should have a crew costume competition every year, Big mom always wins any ways. They're an entire family of theater nerds, and logia users, of course they're going to win.
Marco: It's a tradition Roger started, and there was once an attempt to stop having them, but King's assistant single-handedly secured its continuation by asking if pulling out of the competition would be forfeiting, because all four four of the captains refuse to forfeit. And they did entirely to spite King, who hates the competition, because be has to participate. *Crumples a sketch into a ball and torches it in his fist*
Izou: He deserved it too, from what I hear, but thankfully the other crews aren't much competition though, Kaido always does and animal or monster theme. Shanks's crew can barely scrounge together costumes. And both of them are usually only there for the food and booze.
Thatch: And pops is always so challenging to clothe, since we don't have a place to store lots of fabric. Plus he's too frugal to let us go all out on a costume for him.
You: I have an idea, and I know pops already has a bunch of the clothes we can use for his costume. All we'd need is a pops-sized plastic apron, plastic gloves, and a paper hat. And we could use the project I've been working on.
Izou: *looks over at you slowly, and without blinking, to emphasize his judgement* and what would we be going as?
You: so I think it's time I show you my project.
Tumblr media
At the storage room you've converted into a crafts area
You: Behold... bread
Marco: *starts laughing* because's he's looking at two giant plushies that look like slices of bread*
You: yes, there's even a pad of butter pillow *whips it out and chucks it onto the bread* I stuffed it with your feathers.
Thatch: ooh, is this what you were doing with that fabric?
Izou: here I was thinking you were making clothing with that hideously colored fabric. That's a relief, but I still don't get it.
You: imagine pops in a polo shirt, khaki pants, wearing a plastic apron, a paper hat, and plastic gloves holding bread.
Izou: right...and why is pops dressing like a deli worker making a sandwich? What would we even use to go in the sandwich.
You: .... *grins evilly at him*
Tumblr media
The day of the costume event
Whitebeard: *excitedly bouncing in his chair and is already wearing his costume* we'll arrive shortly, is everyone ready.
You: *dressed as a slice of tomato* no, they're still trying to wrestle Izou into his jam jar costume...oh there he is
Izou: *waddling around the costume* Look at me, I look ridiculous*
Thatch: *dressed as a bottle of Cesar salad dressing with fake little knives glued in it, like it's being stabbed* No you don't, you look adorable. *boops his nose*
Ace: *dressed as a slice of thick cut salami* Alright let's do this
Whitebeard: *uses the two slices of bread to pick the three of you up, and holds you aloft as he walks off the boat* who wants a sandwich!
The crew: *all dresses as condiments and sandwich fixings flood off the ship to meet up with the other crews*
Izou: *smooshed up against you, is wearing a deep frown and glaring at you,* I'm going to hold a grudge for this....
Ace: oh look Kaido picked to make their theme zombie animals this year!
You: *tries to distract Izou* hehe, and big mom and her kids are dressed as a chicken and a brood of chicks.
Whitebeard: *spends the day scooping up each of his sons and carrying them around in the bread*

Good evening! Another day of blogging. Today I woke up at around 9 AM and got ready for the day! I folded the laundry that has been sitting in my bin for a few days since I’ve been so busy. For lunch today, I had a pesto chicken sandwich from Epicuria. It was quite delectable and yummy. After lunch and Kerckhoff patio, I headed towards my LS 30A lab and lecture. A very funny thing happened in class today as an amongus walked into class. After class, I headed back to my dorm and worked on some homework. At 7, I had dinner with a mentor where we had over a 2 hour conversation! We had Epicuria on the hill for dinner. I got a Alfredo fettuccine pasta, potatoes, Cesar salad, salmon, and sweet chicken pizza. I had a pretty busy but fun day! I got pretty good sleep after my workout yesterday night as well! See you tomorrow!

Vacation in the Catskills is almost over!
Wondered around a little town near the cabin today and had curried chicken sandwich and kale Cesar salad for lunch. After coming back home, made a fire pit and had relaxing time drinking wine : )
Grilled fillet mignon outside (medium rare of course) for dinner. For such a simple salt and pepper seasoning, the steak was super juicy and flavorful and made my mouth watery even before I put it in my mouth! : ))

My Lord...a bit of a snag with the Cesar salad...we're all out of Parmesan...Also the staff wants to know if you want cucumber sandwiches or spicy chicken wings. And if we should keep all condiments out of Konrads reach.

21 Most Delicious Ways to Enjoy Healthy Greens
Healthy greens—like dark leafy greens—get a lot of hype in health world.
Your mom told you to eat your broccoli. Green juices and green smoothies are essentials for any juice cleanse. And Popeye the Sailor Man made spinach cool.
But have you ever wondered, “Why are greens so good for me anyway?” After all, you hear they are—but what are the facts?!
Here are 7 Reasons Why Greens are Good for You, plus 21 Delicious Ways to Get Your Greens On (Beyond Salads).
7 Reasons Why Healthy Greens Are Good for You
1. Healthy Greens Aid in Digestion
Fiber in vegetables give your digestion a “boost,” aiding in the process of “pushing food through” your digestive tract. Imagine fiber as the “car” that helps carry your proteins and healthy fats down the road of digestion.
Dark leafy greens contain more insoluble fiber, similar to other vegetables, including carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts. Insoluble fiber promotes the movement of material through your digestive system and increases stool bulk, so it can be of benefit to those who struggle with constipation or irregular stools.
2. Greens Promote Healthy Gut Bacteria
Fiber is not only essential for pushing food through your digestive tract. Fiber also promotes healthy gut bacteria. Although soluble fibers (like cooked & cooled potatoes, white rice, plantains and squashes) are the best “prebiotic” fibers (i.e. they feed healthy gut bacteria), insoluble fibers (found in leafy greens) increase gut transit rate and consequently reduce the amount of time available for (unhealthy) colonic bacterial fermentation of non-digested foodstuff (1). Dark leafy greens also promote the formation of short chain fatty acids (aka: “post-biotics”). Short chain fatty acids are the “byproducts” formed from well-fed gut bacteria that help produce MORE healthy gut bacteria.
3. Healthy Greens Strengthen Immunity
Dark leafy greens and other green veggies — from asparagus to broccoli — are crucial for a well-functioning immune system. Green veggies ensure that first-line-of-defense immune cells in the gut and the skin [known as intra-epithelial lymphocytes (IELs)] fire properly. One study of healthy mice that were deprived of green veggies two to three weeks, found that 70 to 80 percent of these protective cells disappeared (2). The conclusion? More greens could mean less illness, autoimmunity, allergies and skin breakouts.
4. Greens Make You Stronger
Popeye was on to something when he told us spinach was good for us—dark leafy healthy greens, like spinach, can help boost fitness naturally. One study (3) on healthy people who ate a small dose of spinach for three days found significantly improved endurance and performance while riding an exercise bike, concluding that it increased efficiency of the mitochondria that powered their cells.
Another study (4) compared the muscle functions of mice who drank nitrates (a component found in spinach) in their drinking water to that of a control group, finding a striking difference in the force production of their fast-twitch muscles (power muscles).
5. Boost Brainpower
A diet containing approximately one serving of green leafy vegetables per day is associated with slower age-related cognitive decline. In a study (5) of 960 older adults, researchers looked at the association between performance on cognitive tests and dark leafy vegetables. Over the course of 5 years, the participants underwent 5 annual checkups with tests that assessed cognition in five domains (episodic memory, working memory, semantic memory, visuospatial ability, and perceptual speed). Data about nutrient intake was also considered—particularly attention to dark healthy greens.
Findings revealed that consumption of green leafy vegetables was positively and significantly associated with slower cognitive decline. Participants who ate greens regularly (1-2 times per day) were up to 11 years younger cognitively, based on average global cognitive scores over time. In addition, there was no evidence that the association was affected by cardiovascular conditions, depressive symptoms, low weight, or obesity. Another study of kids, ages 8-10, found that the kids with higher levels of lutein in their brains performed significantly better. Lutein is a brain-boosting nutrient found in dark leafy healthy greens (6).
6. Prevent Heart Disease
Several studies have found a decrease in heart disease among individuals who consume dark leafy greens on a regular basis. One study (7) of over 40,000 participants, ages 20-70 found those that ate vegetables daily—particularly dark leafy greens—had significantly less oxidative damage, reduced inflammation, better blood sugar control, healthy lipoprotein (cholesterol) markers and even less risk of cardiometabolic disease than those who didn’t eat veggies regularly—regardless of smoking or living alone (two other factors that play a role heart disease).
7. Healthy Greens Help Detox the Body
Your liver is your body’s largest single organ. It converts nutrients from foods into forms your body can use; helps digest fat; stores carbs; and produces bile (waste) to send out of your body. (In other words: Your liver does alot!). Unfortunately, if your liver gets stressed from things like unhealthy foods, longterm medicine use, environmental toxins and tap water, it is unable to work as efficiently.
Enter: Dark healthy greens. Plants are an essential part of the human diet and contain various antioxidants which are closely related to liver health—including enzymes, glutathione, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, resins (help form bile acids) and 4-Hydroxynonenal (cell signals and liver metabolism). Dark leafy greens are no exception, and their antioxidants are essential to a healthy functioning liver (your body’s detoxification powerhouses).

Eating Out: Don't Be a Fast Food Giant
Eating out this occasion end of the week, or whenever throughout the mid year, the natural and modest can be appealing. Indeed, even the monsters of inexpensive food don't need to be colossal deviations from your obligation to eating soundly, in case you are an informed customer. Here are a few things to remember when examining the cheap food menus:
Arby's
Mull over: A little Wavy fries has 450 calories, 210 from fat! The numbers for the steakhouse onion rings are practically indistinguishable. Only two potato cakes will give you 250 calories, 140 from fat (15 g). The Meal Ham and Swiss sandwich has 710 calories and 30g of fat. Indeed, even a medium meal meat has 420 calories, 16 g of fat. Be careful their Market Fresh® Sandwiches - every one is between 700-820 calories!
L.E.A.N. Alternatives: There are a couple of servings of mixed greens and wraps on the menu, yet a decent decision is the Hacked Farmhouse Salad with turkey and ham, coming in at 250 calories without dressing. In the event that you would incline toward the Slashed Farmhouse Chicken Plate of mixed greens, substitute barbecued chicken for seared. Simply be careful that everything except the extremely basic Hacked Side Plate of mixed greens, has 14g of fat or more. Dressings will make this number ascension, dramatically.
On their website you can make your dinner and see exactly the number of calories and fat you would be devouring with those decisions. Check their website for more nourishing information.
Burger Ruler
Mull over: A medium fries will hamper you 440 calories, with 22g of fat and 670g of sodium. Simply a plain Humdinger will give you 670 calories, 40g fat, and an incredible (play on words proposed) 980mg of sodium. A little cheeseburger has 300 calories and 14g of fat while a BK® Twofold Stacker has 560 calories, an awful 36g of fat and a stunning 1040mg of sodium.
L.E.A.N. Choices: It may come as a shock to realize that Burger Ruler's Beast Junior without cheddar or mayonnaise really has less calories (340 calories) than the chain's Tendergrill chicken sandwich without mayonnaise (520 calories). Another L.E.A.N. alternative is a nursery salad with (300 calories) or without (140 calories) barbecued chicken. Needles to say you will be in an ideal situation in the event that you pick a without fat or diminished fat dressing. On the off chance that you basically should have fries, you would now be able to arrange them 'unsalted'. Do as such!
Check their website for more healthful data.
Kentucky Seared Chicken
Mull over: One unique formula seared chicken bosom packs in 320 calories, 15g of fat, and an improper 710mg sodium. Extra Firm is likewise additional calories at 510, with 33g of fat and practically a large portion of your day by day portion of sodium, 1010mg. Keeping with our calorie-fat-sodium postings:
Huge popcorn chicken is batting 550-35-1600; Fresh Twister® with Firm strip is 560-24-1600. One of the most exceedingly awful dietary wrongdoers to the L.E.A.N. eating is the Renowned Bowls® Pounded Potato with Sauce. This bowl is all calories and sodium - 700 calories, 32g fat and a whole every day portion of sodium, 2260. Click here : 먹튀사이트
L.E.A.N. Alternatives: Pick a Caesar or side serving of mixed greens (on the off chance that you get the Caesar, request broiled chicken as opposed to fresh). Watch the dressings. On the off chance that you utilize the whole parcel it can dramatically increase the calorie and fat substance of your plate of mixed greens. For KFC chicken, barbecued chicken is much better than the seared. For this choice, the drumstick is a decent decision - 80 calories, yet 4g of fat and 230mg sodium. The bosom isn't the most exceedingly terrible guilty party with 210 calories, 8g of fat and a shockingly high 460mg of sodium. The best sides are green beans, fresh corn, three bean salad and "Mean Greens".
You need to download a pdf to see KFCs nourishing substance. Check their website for more nourishing information.
McDonald's
Mull over: French fries are a solace food. A medium fries at McDonald's has 380 calories, 19g of fat and a humble 270mg of sodium. It nearly abandons saying that the burgers are calorie wrongdoers, yet sodium endures a big cheese, as well. A Major Mac® has 540 calories, 29g of fat and 1040mg sodium; a Quarter Pounder with Cheese® is recorded at 510 calories, 26g of fat and 1190mg sodium. One of the greatest, yet at the same time not the most noteworthy in calories is the Angus Burger® with Bacon and Cheddar. The dietary data on the McDonald's site shows this as having 790 calories, 29g of fat and a mind blowing 2070mg of sodium.
L.E.A.N. Alternatives: McDonald's has a reasonable choice of plates of mixed greens, however the keen client realizes that that bacon, singed chicken and cheddar make a plate of mixed greens as stuffing and undesirable as a burger. To address this, request barbecued chicken, not fresh, and make certain to get low-fat dressing. A superior serving of mixed greens with barbecued chicken and low-fat balsamic vinaigrette dressing is around 260 - 360 calories. Side plates of mixed greens are consistently a basic, sound other option. For sandwich sweethearts, the fundamental burger has less calories (250) than a Top notch Barbecued Chicken Work of art (420). Barbecued Tidbit Wraps are additionally a superior alternative, with 260 - 270 calories.
Like KFC, you need to investigate the pdf posting of McDonald's Wholesome Information. Check their website for more nourishing data.
Metro
Mull over: On this finish of the range, the 6-inch Blowout has 550 calories, 23g of fat and a baffling 2610mg of sodium. The Meatball Marinara isn't greatly improved with 580-23-1530. You may figure, one treat will not hurt me. All things considered, these terrible young men pack 200 calories each, with a normal of 11g of fat and 150mg of sodium. Simply say no!
L.E.A.N. Choices: As inexpensive food goes, Metro is perhaps the most ideal decision. They have 8 6-inch subs with under 6g of fat. Furthermore, you can pick wholegrain bread, giving you a decent portion of sound fiber and omegas. The least calorie 6-inch is the Veggie Pleasure with only 230 calories, 2.5g of fat (contrast that with KFC!) and 410mg of sodium The most fatty substance sub in this classification is the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki still with a genuinely unassuming 274 calories, 4.5g of fat yet an astonishing 1010mg of sodium. You perceive how watch that wholesome data! Mixed greens at Metro are generally excellent choices, with under 200 calories, and 5g of fat. Watch the dressing, however, as usual.
Metro currently has an intuitive site where you can investigate their wholesome data.
Taco Chime
Mull over: Be careful with the solid sounding Fiesta® Taco Salad, which has an eating routine busting 770 calories (stay away from a significant number of those by not eating the shell). Then, at that point there's the Chipotle Steak Salad (I'm trusting they are utilizing that term freely!) that the Taco Ringer site shows has 900 calories, 57g of fat and 1600mg of sodium.
L.E.A.N. Choices: Taco Chime's Fresco® Menu is comprised of things with less than 400 calories and 9 grams of fat. The Fresco Style Chipotle Steak Salad zooms down to only 220 calories, 6 grams of fat. It's still genuinely high in sodium, notwithstanding, with 930mg. Their chicken Farm Taco Salad has very much like numbers: 240 calories, 5g of fat and 1080mg sodium.
Check their website for more dietary data.
Wendy's
Mull over: I can't remind you enough to be effectively aware of the dietary data at cafés. Indeed we discover a serving of mixed greens that is really un-L.E.A.N. Wendy's Baja Salad packs 550 calories, 33g of fat and 1610mg of sodium! That is without dressing. The most exceedingly terrible of the burgers is, obviously, the Bacon Exclusive Triple. With this 3-patty sandwich stacked with bacon, cheddar, and even onion rings, you will eat 1150 calories, 73g of fat and 2030mg of sodium. Certainly something to mull over.
L.E.A.N. Alternatives: A couple decent decisions incorporate the Mandarin Chicken Serving of mixed greens or the Chicken Caesar Salad. Both are under 200 calories without dressing or additional items (like bread garnishes, or bacon). The Jr. Cheeseburger makes an appearance with 270 calories, and 11g of fat while the Barbecued Chicken Go Wrap has only 260 calorie and 10g of fat. By a wide margin the L.E.A.N.- est choice is the side plate of mixed greens. The Nursery Side Serving of mixed greens has a simple 25 calories, NO fat and simply 30mg sodium. Indeed, even the Cesar Side Plate of mixed greens just has 60 calories, 2g of fat and 95mg of sodium. Top off on these, irreproachable!
On the website, Wendy's makes you go through every thing exclusively to see the wholesome substance. The thought is to assemble your supper, I assume. You can get an initially pdf from their site, too.

Before arriving in France I had a long list of places to travel and things to see. Antz, Liv and I all agreed that one of them was seeing the Les Machines de l’île in Nantes.  I purchased annual SNCF passes because they were on mega sale (they are usually €75 each but I got them for €29!) These passes give us discounts on train fares for trips on the weekends and a special child fare. We plan to take so many train trips, I think it’s a bargain. So I’m sure you have never heard of Les Machines de l’île or le Grand Élephant so watch this clip to see what I’m talking about.
We have watched several videos about these magical creatures so I booked a train trip to Nantes to surprise the kid a week before her birthday!
The train ride to Nantes was our longest to date. Just over 4 hours but we sat in a Club Four which is a set of four chairs facing each other with a table. This configuration is rare to book so we really enjoyed it. We departed from Gare Austerlitz.
We did everything you could during the ride. We played video games on our phones, ate snacks, napped, read books, colored in Liv’s coloring book and played an intense game of Uno. I taught Liv how to play the card game Speed (my favorite game when I was in high school). We arrived after noon and it took awhile to figure out how to get to the part of town where the machines were. I would think it is such a popular attraction, the tram would take us directly there. However, we took the tram for about 20 minutes and had to walk over a long bridge and then we found the site.
We were shocked to be sitting next to this cutie on the tram! Our cat Lola would never sit so obediently let alone let us put a harness on her.
We walked past the Château des ducs de Bretagne but it was closed and there was a protest happening nearby.
During the long walk across the bridge I was wondering if we would end up having to climb that ladder to get to the Le Carrousel Mondes des Marins. It’s hidden in plain sight!
We had no idea what this gentleman was selling when we first saw him riding past. I was hoping for some cotton candy but it turned out to be marshmallow squares in very unique flavors.
It’s hard to describe the Marine Worlds Carousel. It’s part steampunk, part nautical. There are three levels. The lower (Ocean floor) levels don’t have a floor, so you board via a moveable gangplank which Liv and I felt too apprehensive to ride. So we climbed to the top. I was so bewildered by the sea creatures I kept forgetting to take pictures.
As you can see it’s a very surreal experience. I was explaining to Liv how the characters reminded me of the films of Terry Gilliam. The only one she has seen is Doctor Parnassus but she got the idea.
When we reached the top, we were happy to find a floor and the raddest set of creatures. Each one has a moving element that you control like a marionette. Some by steering and some by pedals or pumps. It was very cool but also odd. I couldn’t capture the entire carousel in photos due to the sheer size of it. I loved the music they were playing too. It reminded me of one of my favorite singers Tom Waits.
Next we walked over to the mechanical elephant. I was surprised to see a sign saying that the elephant ride was sold out. It was close to 1pm, and they weren’t due to close until 7pm that evening. When I found someone who spoke English she said they had to close early due to thunderstorms. Bummer! So we took some photos and marveled at the giant wooden elephant. The gracefulness in it’s movement and agility was remarkable. I wish we could have experienced riding it but seeing it up close was rad.
I’m so glad I brought my wide lens for my camera because our iPhones couldn’t fit it in one frame in photos. Antz took this video with his iPhone X.
Liv and Antz went inside the Gallery and Liv was chosen to steer the giant Ant!
She loved it! We had lunch at the restaurant on the site. It was just about to close so the menu was limited. I got the last Cesar salad they had and Antz and Liv had a chicken sandwich.
The last thing we did was check out the smaller carousel. This one was similar to the large one and the creatures were interactive too. Absolutely enchanting.
The elephant returned from his walk and Liv got a surprise!
She dried off with an ice cream cone and we browsed the gift shop. I bought Liv a Nantes souviner gold coin for her collection and I bought a coffee table book about the Royal Deluxe Company. It was heavy in my backpack but I knew they didn’t have it on Amazon and it’s such a beautiful photography book, I couldn’t pass it up. I hope to one day see them perform in person since I have watched every single youtube video of their amazing giant puppets. The work they do is incredible but they don’t announce their shows until a few days in advance so it’s hard to catch them.
After spending the entire afternoon at Les Machines de l’île, we decided to take the tram back to the train station a little early because Antz had a headache and Liv was tired. To our surprise when we arrived at the tram, it was closed by the local police for some unknown reason. I tried to order an Uber but the app wasn’t working (no wifi) so we had to walk over an hour back to the train station.
Lucky for us we left early or we would have arrived there late. We sat patiently waiting for our train arrival. Poor Antz headache got so bad we had to go to the pharmacy and buy him some medication. Just when our train was 15 minutes from boarding we saw this on the train schedule display.
I asked Liv what retard meant in French and she said LATE! It took forever to find an English speaking staff person and they told me that due to lightening striking the train tracks, all trains going to Paris were delayed for an indeterminate amount of time. So we ended up stranded at the train station for FOUR HOURS! The staff brought out little snack boxes and bottled water for everyone but it felt like the apocalypse. People were grabbing the boxes like a riot and Antz headache was worsening. Liv didn’t feel great either and it was too hot to wait inside the station so we sat outside at the tracks which meant we couldn’t hear any updates. The announcements were all in French anyway. We started to panic and worry that we would have to book a hotel for overnight. Then finally around the time we were scheduled to arrive back in Paris, we saw everyone getting up and heading towards the tracks downstairs. We pushed through like cartoon super heros and jumped on the train and sat at the first club four seats we saw. Since all the trains to Paris were late, the staff didn’t check our tickets and we didn’t bother to find our original seats. An English speaking couple sat down across from us and told us we were in their seats but I guess I gave the guy a look like Reagan from the Exorcist and he nicely said, No worries, we’ll sit here. The train ride was supposed to be 4 hours but they put the pedal to the metal and got us into Paris by 1 am. I have never seen more exhausted and frustrated people from all over the world collectively sleep like we did. We were all happy to be out of Nantes.
I scheduled an Uber before the train stopped in Paris before all the rush but I still got hit was double the fare surcharge. Merde! I told our French friends about enduring this trip and they laughed and said Welcome to France!
So despite being disappointed about the elephant ride and the long train delay, we had a good time. I didn’t think the town of Nantes was particularly awesome. As Antz put it, if you seen one town in France you’ve seen them all.
Tant pis!
