Amazing Matzo Brei #recipe I found the perfect solution to what to do with my leftover #haroset. This tasty recipe is good anytime, not just #Passover and you don't have to be Jewish to love it! Recipe by Cindy Kurman and Lee Barrie (Serves two hungry people or 4) 1/2 hour prep 1/2 hour cooking at 375 Ingredients 5 matzos 4 eggs 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 2 Tbsp Dark Brown Sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1 Tbsp vanilla Leftover Haroset 1 large apple 1/2 cup crushed nuts (pecans, almonds) 1/4 cup brandy, port or sweet red wine 1/2 cup dried cranberries 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Canola oil Haroset Instructions 1. Finely chop apple (i leave skin on) 2. Rough chop nuts 3. Combine apple, nuts, cranberries and cinnamon in a large bowl. 4. Add honey and/or maple syrup, and brandy. Mix together. (If you served at your sedar, save leftovers in tightly closed container) or just make a fresh batch. Set asdide to prepare matzos. Matzos directions 1. Boil water 2. Breakup matzo into small pieces 3. Put matzos in a large bowl. Pour boiling water over, covering matzos completely. 4. When matzos is soft but not mushy, drain off water and pat with paper towels to soak up excess. 5. In a second bowl, add eggs and scramble. Add vanilla into mixture. 6. Pour egg mixture on matzos and let it doak. Mix lightly. 7. Use a 12 to 16 inch baking dish (or individual ramekins), lightly brush canola oil on nottom and sides. You can alsu use an oil, salted butter mixture if you wish). 8. Pour matzos mixture in baking dish leaving 1/4 inch on top. 9. Spread you horoset on top, sprinkle with brown sugar. 10. Bake in pre-heated oven at 375 for 30 minutes. 11. Remove from oven, let sit for 10 minutes. Serve with fresh blueberries or strawberries and warm real maple syrup. I got to try a variety of menu options like their feast bowl which is a nice sampler plate, although I’ve been to many Indian spots it was also my first time trying the desserts like Galub Jamun. ORDERED PANIC SUSHI THE MINUTE I HIT “UPDATE”...

Because VOILA! Here’s the new blog! After ~7~ years of documenting so many places & dishing the drama in the culinary world, it’s time for a revamp.  For quite some time I’ve wanted to give this blog the TLC it deserved, and with school and work and internships it just wasn’t happening. 

While eating and posting on here gives me the best high in the world (!!!) I wanted to make sure to put my whole heart into it when the time was right. Well, turns out when you graduate college and only barista in the earliest hours of the day, you have hours out the ass to dedicate to hunting the perfect theme. I am AMPED, Y’ALL! 

To give you a little background if you’re new here or forgot who I am, my name is Natalie, I just graduated DePaul University, I have a dog named Jake (the human name pisses off a lot of people), I’m addicted to working out even though my body rejects it every damn time, and I truly view food as the world’s strongest bonding agent. Food is a resource that builds every community, friendship, relationship, and family more than a lotttt of people realize; it’s one thing to love eating, but it’s another to use that passion to try new things, learn about new cultures, explore new places, and bring people together... YES, food does all of that! For us! 3-5 times a day! I’m a Chicago native and I’ve spent all 22 very filling years of my life here, but I’m also addicted to hitting that old wandering road and checking out new places whenever I can. And the best part of travel? EATING EVERYTHING ALONG THE WAY BECAUSE IT’S “VACATION” AND A BREAK IN THE NORMAL. It’s like you HAVE to try the 10 donut places near your hotel because you don’t know when you’ll be back! 

While this most certainly isn’t going to become a blog about my favorite candles and what I eat to get perfect skin and blah blah blah, it is going to incorporate a little more real life and a little more current topic discussion which I hope you all get involved in + send some opinions on! I hope that’s alright with y’all, if not send me some hate mail and I’ll send you some bees because nothing attracts flies like honey :)  

I love this community + sharing my life more than I can type out, so just know that everything I eat/drink/do/share is because I truly love being your local foodie resource and creating that bond in a city that can be kinda big and overwhelming sometimes! It never hurts to see a friendly face around (and eat a friend-approved meal).

I’ve been wanting to try @giantchicago for years and finally tried it last night with my parents to celebrate my birthday. It was FANTASTIC!! Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago. We started with the biscuits with jalapeño butter and then I split the 100 layer lasagna and tagliatelle with Dungeness crab and chili butter with my dad and a side of broccoli with chickpeas and honey. Everything was amazing- so much flavor and traveled well for takeout.
