so. i've had an idea for a warrior cats fanfiction story, and have spent the last few years hammering out characters, the clans, how they work, the story... a whole lot of stuff. i've tried writing it before, and right now i don't have a current draft of early chapters, but I did recently write out a scene from much later in the story, and i'm pretty happy with it, soooo... here! a warrior cats fic scene i wrote in like an hour a week ago
By the time she led ShadeClan to the Gathering site, Emberstar felt her anxieties lessen. Her foreleg ached from the effort of the journey, but she kept her head high. Beside her, Acornfall glanced back at their clan, then nodded over to Emberstar. He led the clan down into the Gathering hollow, and Emberstar padded over to the slope up to the leader’s perch. PineClan and CliffClan cats were already quietly milling about in the hollow, and up on the overhang she could see Lakestar and Wolfstar waiting. There was no MoorClan scent among the gathered cats.
Emberstar made her way up the slope she’d seen Gorsestar and Froststar before her traverse. It was a thin path, slowly becoming steeper and steeper as she slunk closer to the overhang, finally reaching the steep, gravelly slope that led up to the leaders’ perch. Down at the base of the cliff, she could see Acornfall joining the other deputies with a polite nod of his head, and Troutfoot was carefully weaving her way through the crowd to meet with the other healers. Emberstar twitched her whiskers when Lakestar and Wolfstar noticed her. She crouched and tensed her back legs and leapt up the slope.
It wasn’t enough to reach the top, but she reached out with her forepaw and sunk her claws into the loose gravel and dug her back paws into the ground to keep from slithering back down. She slowly inched forward, moving a kittenstep at a time, but she kept her eyes fixed on the other leaders, more determined than ashamed of herself. Emberstar forced herself up the slope, but her heart skipped a beat when the gravel under her paw proved too loose to get a good enough grip- so close to the top, too. What a shame she had no other forepaw to lash out and find a grip with.
Emberstar felt herself begin to slide back down the slope, but a pair of jaws grasped her by the scruff and hoisted her up onto the overhang. She clawed at the grass and stumbled a step when let go and turned to meet Wolfstar’s amused gaze. “Careful there, three-paw,” the CliffClan leader gruffly purred. “It’s bad luck to fall at your first Gathering as leader.” She brushed past Emberstar to sit back down next to Lakestar.
With a huff, Emberstar followed her with a shake of her pelt. “I appreciate your help, but I would have been fine on my own. I suppose I owe you now?”
Wolfstar’s whiskers twitched. “Are you saying ShadeClan is now in CliffClan’s debt?”
The young leaders stared at each other, then broke out into amused purrs. Lakestar rolled her eyes and wrapped her tail around her paws. “So, you are ShadeClan’s leader now, Emberstar? Or is it still Emberblaze?”
“It is Emberstar now. I visited the Moon Cavern for my lives only a few sunrises ago.”
“May StarClan light your path as leader, then.” Lakestar stiffly dipped her head. Despite the brusque words, there was genuine respect in her pale eyes.
Wolfstar’s own eyes were still bright with humor. “You’ll be great, I know it. What happened to Froststar, then?”
Emberstar narrowed her eyes and turned her gaze to the gathered cats. “I’ll explain that once the Gathering begins. MoorClan is late tonight.” She surveyed the crowd of cats, peering straight down at the huddled healers. Sitting with her back to her PineClan clanmates, Flarelight was sitting close to Troutfrost. After a moment, she gazed up at the overhang, and her eyes met Emberstar’s. Her eyes grew wide and she stared at her littermate for a long moment until another healer got her attention. Then, as if she’d seen nothing, Flarelight flicked her tail and joined the conversation. Her twitching tail-tip was the only hint that she was distracted. Emberstar blinked. She’d become leader so recently that not even the other healers knew, much less the other clans’ warriors. In the crowd of CliffClan cats, she spotted Sunscorch, sitting with his fur brushing Moonwhisper’s, his eyes wide and his body stiff while he stared at his sister up on the overhang.
Poor Sunscorch, so softhearted under those honed claws and strong limbs- he was likely to take the news of Froststar’s death the hardest. Emberstar held his gaze, blinked slowly, and turned her head to the sky. The moon was nearly overhead, and still MoorClan was absent.
“You ought to start the Gathering now,” Wolfstar growled to Lakestar. “It’s newleaf, after all, and if MoorClan’s late then they’re late.”
“We should wait,” Emberstar sharply mewed. “This is my first Gathering as leader, so it would be disrespectful to me as well as MoorClan if we begin without them. It may anger StarClan as well,” she finished in a murmur, flicking her tail-tip up at the sky. Wolfstar just bushed out her stormy gray fur and huffed.
Lakestar gazed up at the sky. Emberstar looked over at her. For so long, as an apprentice, as a warrior, as the deputy, she’d never dared to be so close to the cold PineClan leader. But now, she was barely a tail-length from the sleek silver tabby, and they sat as equals in standing. Lakestar was likely at less than nine lives and Emberstar was without a right foreleg, but they were equals nonetheless.
She was knocked from her thoughts by Wolfstar headbutting her. The larger cat nearly shoved her off-balance. “Glad to see that we’re both finally up here. I was waiting to see when you’d catch up, three-paw.”
Emberstar licked Wolfstar’s ear. “You know I must take things slower than you.”
“Who’d you pick as deputy?” Wolfstar leaned over the edge to inspect the group of deputies. “Hm- Acornfall?”
“He’s a good warrior. Older than me by four seasons, so I trust his advice and his skill.”
“I thought you would have picked Lavenderflash. Or maybe Darknose, you two always seemed close.”
Emberstar gazed down at Lavenderflash, spotting the pure-black molly quickly- she was almost certain there was obvious fondness in her eyes as she looked at her former apprentice. “Lavenderflash is… young and still training her first apprentice. She is a good, loyal warrior, but not fit to be deputy or eventual leader in my mind. And Darknose…” The tom was sitting at the edge of the crowd, alone. “He is a possibility, but he still mourns his brother even all these moons later, so I don’t know if he would be the best choice.”
Wolfstar made a sniff of approval, then her gaze snapped to the far hill. A yowl rang out, and the three leaders pricked their ears and the cats in the hollow turned to see MoorClan finally arrive, led by Applestar. Emberstar sat stiffly until she spotted Glowflame in the crowd, side-by-side with Orangeclaw. He joined the cats in the hollow with his clan while Applestar broke off to climb up to the overhang, and he seemed to murmur something to Orangeclaw before she angled her ears up at Emberstar. Glowflame looked up and spotted her, and his jaw dropped open. Emberstar couldn’t help but let out a purr of affection for her brother as he gaped in amazement at her.
Applestar greeted the other leaders when he finally joined them, nodding briefly at Emberstar, and hurriedly sat down next to Lakestar, his mottled fur standing up along his spine. The leaders gave the cats in the hollow a few moments to settle down. In that time, Emberstar saw her littermates make their ways through the crowd towards each other. By the time Lakestar threw back her head and yowled to signify the beginning of the Gathering, Flarelight, Sunscorch, and Glowflame sat huddled together with their eyes trained on their sister. Emberstar met their gazes for just a heartbeat and felt the final icicles of her anxiety melt away.
She then turned her head to watch Lakestar as she began to announce her clan’s news for the moon, and reminded herself of what she had to announce when it was her turn. She was ShadeClan’s leader, now. StarClan had approved of her. Emberstar lifted her chin and, with a deep breath, finally settled into her place at the head of her clan.

Six Sentence Sunday
Tumblr media
hello~ haha, I am back! Sort of a short announcement before I get into the actual post, but thanks to the fandom break I took the last half of the year in 2023, I think I am ready to dive back into my CO wips like OHEA, etc.
Also, I really really want to give a big hug and shout out to @artsyunderstudy, @larkral, @that-disabled-princess for keeping me in their thoughts/posts over the months. It really does make me feel good to see notifs even if I havent been active here :"D
Now, onto the SSS post! So truthfully, I havent started on CO wips just yet, so these shared sentences are actually from a character I am trying to create for dnd
Name:  Rinn  Galanodel (Moonwhisper in Common) Age:  at time of “campaign” – mid to late thirties? Race: Half-Elf Class: Warlock Some Backstory: I had a “good life” as far as I was aware even if I didn’t have anything to truly be happy about until I reached the age of twelve when ____ happened Carrion (my life partner) finds me quite naive, but that is also apart of why they love me
I know dnd is a lil random, but I am just super excited for a lot of things going on this year that I want to try and accomplish and all I had so far was this very very basic/rough idea of a character im creating so far

which tragic character from ancient greek literature are you?
tagged by @mt07131 and im gonna tag hmmm @robin-in-the-library and @sprawca (and anyone else who wants to do it mwah)
Beatrice de' Medici
you are antigone, from the theban plays by sophocles. you are bold, unwavering in your morals and your passion, an unstoppable force of nature. but when you go head-to-head with an immovable object, your ideals can lead you to self-destruction. you are stubbornly resilient and fearless to a fault, and aren't afraid to stand alone in the face of death. antigone, in your quest for justice, don't forget: you are allowed to step back, to love life a little, to be young once more before soldiering on to the very very end. be selfish in your fierceness, just once.
Niccolò
you are cassandra from the trojan women by euripides and agamemnon by aeschylus. people have tried to silence you one too many times, but you are resilient. your own dignity and agency have always come first, but at a great cost. you know yourself and your inner strength, but that won't ever stop you from feeling completely alone in the world. sometimes simply enduring the pain won't be enough, no matter how hard you want it to be. above all, you must never lose your unwavering hope in mankind, even as the world forsakes you. it is what keeps you human.
Stella of Kaedwen
you are antigone, from the theban plays by sophocles. you are bold, unwavering in your morals and your passion, an unstoppable force of nature. but when you go head-to-head with an immovable object, your ideals can lead you to self-destruction. you are stubbornly resilient and fearless to a fault, and aren't afraid to stand alone in the face of death. antigone, in your quest for justice, don't forget: you are allowed to step back, to love life a little, to be young once more before soldiering on to the very very end. be selfish in your fierceness, just once.
Linabheren Moonwhisper
you are patroclus, from the iliad by homer, doomed by fate to be stuck in a love story that has no place on the battlefield. although you always have the best intentions, you have to realize you cannot save everyone. your unwavering loyalty means you often lose yourself in the process of putting others first. take a deep breath, remember who you are, and that you are deserving of the same love you try to put out. you are kind, you are strong, and you give and you give but it is never enough to protect those you love. in the end, it's not even enough to protect yourself.
Oriana Enid Rocherelli
you are orestes from the oresteia by aeschylus, and you are haunted by a cycle of pain. you try your hardest to be a better person, but sometimes you wonder if you will stop feeling trapped by your past. you have a strong sense of justice, you are quick to protect and defend those you love, and you are not afraid to compromise your morals if that means you are settling the score. eventually though, the consequences of your deeds will catch up to you, but that's okay, because sometimes looking your ugliness right in the eye is the greatest release.

Writing Prompts - March
So one kind of neat thing about ChatGPT is that you can generate random writing prompts pretty easily. I asked it to give me some for the rest of the month, along with names - because one of my favorite things is creating characters out of nothing.
To get back into writing, lets see if I can do as many of these as possible for the rest of the month :)
March 20 -  [Calantha Faezahr] Your protagonist has been tasked with finding a powerful magical artifact, but in order to obtain it, they must navigate through a dangerous enchanted forest filled with all kinds of mystical creatures and traps. Describe the journey through the forest and how your protagonist overcomes the challenges they face along the way.
March 21 - [Eridelle Sableheart] You wake up one day to find that you can hear the thoughts of animals. How does this new ability change your life?
March 22 - [Gwyndolin Valtair] Write about a character who can control the weather.
March 23 -  [Marzelia Embertorn] A group of travelers find themselves lost in a magical forest that never seems to end.
March 24 - [Arcturius Shadowbane] Write about a cursed object that brings misfortune to those who possess it.
March 25 - [Zephyra Frostwind] You discover that you have the power to bring inanimate objects to life. What do you do with this ability?
March 26 - [Thalassia Oceanweaver] Write about a character who has the ability to time travel.
March 27 - [Nyrissa Moonwhisper] A young prince/princess discovers that they have been betrothed to a mysterious stranger from a distant land. How do they react?
March 28 - [Aeloria Sunafre] You come across a magical library that holds books with the power to transport you to different worlds.
March 29 - [Auralia Stardancer] Write about a character who can communicate with ghosts.
March 30 - [Kaelen Nightshade] A group of adventurers sets out on a quest to find a legendary treasure guarded by a fearsome dragon.
March 31 - [Lyriel Mankath] You discover that you have the ability to shapeshift into any animal you want. What do you do with this newfound power?

Backstory Thorne is the product of a Firbolg and Tiefling union, a rare hybrid that has gifted Thorne with powerful magic and a unique perspective on the world. Thorne grew up in a wealthy noble family, but their wild magic made them a constant source of scandal and embarrassment for their family. Eventually, Thorne left home to hone their skills and find a place where their magic was accepted and appreciated. Thorne has a mischievous streak and a chaotic energy that often lands them in trouble, but they always mean well and will use their magic to protect the innocent and right wrongs.
--------
Character Build Analysis I would never create a character, let alone a d6 HD caster with a Constitution Score of 12. This allows Thorne to get some points back which allows them a 16 Intelligence to start. Sorcerers are rarely high Intelligence but Thorne is an interesting (and noble) Tiefling. Besides boosting Int and lowering Con, this is a fairly standard Wild Magic Sorcerer. Thier battle spells are complimented with enchantment spells like Sleep and Hold Person. And the use of Metamagic Distant Spell works well with Vampiric Touch. A very interesting build and should be fun to play.

First day playing Classic WOTLK! (Technically this is the second day but shhhh) I made a Kaldorei Druid named Sylveria Moonwhisper and got her to level 10 before I logged off for the night.
Tumblr media
Some things I’ve thought about while playing:
I MISSED THE WRITING THING! The thing where when you get a quest the words appear written, as well as a writing sound. Why did they get rid of that? If players found it annoying they could just toggle it off in the menu. I feel like we’re missing out on that in Retail.
The dialogue is so well written. I feel like quests now lack the character the old quests had.
They really did just shit on all the old lore. Druids believed they went to serve in the Emerald Dream when they died. How fucking awkward. (Also all the stuff with Elune in Shadowlands bothers me but that’ll be another post.)
WISP FORMS!!!! I dearly missed wisp forms while being dead. I died a lot during these 10 levels and while frustrating, I still loved being able to fly around as a wisp. Why did they remove that in Shadowlands? If they were trying to make them just as important as every other race, which they are, they just took some of their flavor away.
Druid quests to get forms were so nice! Yeah they took a minute to do as leveling in Retail goes so much faster but! I genuinely liked going out of my way to get my bear form. The lore they pack into each of the Great Bear’s lines are just. Yes.
As a roleplayer, they make it so easy to be able to slip into character! From quest dialogue to just regular dialogue.
Oh how I missed you, class trainers! I know you had to go out of your way to get your spells when you leveled but I thought that was honestly fun.
Moonglade serves a purpose here other than just a portal place. Sure I wish it was more popular among other druids so it’ll be a bit more populated but eh.
One thing I do not miss is the old customization options. I do like what they’ve done in Retail, at least for the Night Elves.
That’s honestly all I can think of at the moment. You really don’t realize what you have till it’s gone lmao. Playing WotLK Classic has so far made me love maining and roleplaying a druid again. I stopped playing before Mists of Pandaria came out simply because of the funds. And when I came back, Dragonflight was just announced. I missed a lot and going through it all is a chore. I want to go through Pandaria and Warlords but I just can’t. Legion’s fun but I’ve done the Aszuna questline so many times now I think I can quote it. Battle for Azeroth was also kind of fun but after a while I just wanted it over. I loved the Horde War Campaign though! That was the most fun I’ve had since I came back to Retail.

Calling a Truce
This next chapter is a collaboration with my wonderful husband, @thebiganvil.
Find the full storyline here: Iasea Storyline
Tumblr media
The hulking man stood in the doorway, reading over the note in his hand again. He seemed to be debating the best course of action. If he went straight to Forosuul, the man would likely leave straightaway to take matters into his own hands. And Alsa would be hurt. But if he told Alsa first, she would want to go and see what could be done. And the Patriarch will be angry with him. There’s no winning here. No choice that resolves things. He sighed heavily and stepped into the small cottage he shared with his mate.
The space was cozy and comfortable, all decorated with Alsabe’s beautiful wall hangings that made the space bright and joyful. He spotted her plucking leaves into a bowl, her soft, silver-white hair tumbling down her back. Placing a hand on her shoulder, he gave her the gentlest of squeezes to get her attention.
“Big Bear!” She jumped up and hugged him tightly, her task forgotten. She kissed him happily before pulling back to see his concerned face. “What’s wrong, Dæ?”
He set her back down on her feet and lumbered over to a chair. “Sit down, beautiful. Please.” He indicated the chair across from him. She did as he requested, her brow furrowing. He placed the parchment in front of her, giving her some time to read it.
“She wants me to meet with her? At the Blue Recluse?” She read it again, her confusion only building.
“This could be a trap, Alsa. But it might be what she is offering too. Just to talk. It’s a very public place, so I would think it might not be too bad,” he offered. His eyes were sad, knowing the pain this whole situation had brought everyone.
She stared at the paper, nodding. “I’m going.” She set her features and stood. Without further discussion, she started changing into her fighting kit. As she wrapped the adorned belt about her waist, Dæsin’s heavy hand pulled her backwards against him. He wrapped his arms around her, leaning down, he kissed the top of her head.
“Not alone, beautiful. Let me come with you,” he held her still, forcing her to talk it through. She tried to push free to keep dressing, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn’t want to stop. Didn’t want to talk. He knew she would do this, so he held her close, keeping his voice gentle. “Alsa, please. I could never forgive myself if something happened. And your father won’t forgive me for telling you. Please.”
She sighed, accepting his request. They dressed together and stepped out side. Dæsin closed his eyes, opened his arms wide and shifted into the form of a large grey owl. He lowered his belly to the ground and she pulled herself up onto his back. Once she had settled, he took flight and headed to the Shrine and the portals.
Dæsin nodded as he let his form morph into a large cat. He bumped her side, purring before shimmering out of view. He stalked off a bit away, hopefully out of notice and waited. Alsabe drew the shadows around herself, preparing for a fight that she was uncertain would come. The district was busy as usual, people coming and going from shops, the tavern and the mage tower. A drunk man wandered a little too close to her. Moments later the same man could be heard cursing a blue streak while spinning around to find the cause of his now shredded trousers. A small smile cracked Alsa’s features as she shook her head. The amusement was short lived as a familiar head of pink hair moved into view.
Iasea Moonwhisper approached slowly, looking around. She spotted her target and walked up, keeping her hands in full view. As she stepped in front of Alsabe, she bowed her smile quickly fading. The shadows around Alsa pulsed as she eyed Iasea warily. Iasea watched Alsabe, surprised.  “You were expecting me to fight with you? Here?”
“You attacked my niece not far from here, in broad daylight,” Alsabe spat.
“I attacked no one,” she responded calmly.
The younger woman narrowed her pale violet eyes. “Fine,” she clipped. “Your people did.” She turned her back and walked inside to order herself something to calm her nerves.
Iasea gestured to an empty table and found a chair for herself. “I came to call a truce, Alsabe. Will you sit with me?” She indicated the chair beside her. I’m going to have to work for this. Damn.
Alsabe sighed. “Very well,” she responded, dismissing the shadow.
For the first time that day, Iasea could see her clearly. The halter top, thigh high leggings and a detailed belt. The entire look designed to accentuate Alsabe’s full hips and chest. Iasea, unable to stop herself,  chuckled. Alsabe frowned at her. “I see some things haven't changed,” she indicated the way the younger elf was dressed.
“A lot about me has changed, Iasea. You can blame your former matron for that.”
“Who our House served was not my choice,” she sighed.
“I don't remember you protesting,” Alsabe sneered.
“What would have been the point,” Iasea asked. “Min'da made the decisions. The best I could do was work with what was available.” Alsabe nodded, conceding the point. She picked up her drink and took a slow sip. “You were her favorite, I don't know what you are complaining about.”
Alsabe eyes widened. “Her what,” she asked incredulously.
“Her favorite,” came the fit reply. Alsabe looked both shocked and outraged. “You were the one she counted on. You always got things done.”
Alsabe glared at her. “I hope, Iasea, that someday you know how it feels to be the favorite of someone like her.” Her voice dripped with hatred. “I really, really do.”
“I tried,” she sighed. “Never managed to get her to look at me the same way.”
“Lucky you,” Alsa stated bitterly, looking away.
Iasea shook her head. “You seem to have done quite well for yourself now. Unlike the rest of us.”
“Blame her for that too, she cast me out.”
“So you are unhappy then?” She seemed surprised. All indications were that she was being absolutely spoiled in her new home. Could I find another way to make you miserable? I wonder…
“I am unhappy my niece was nearly killed,” she snapped. Taking a breath, she managed to level out her voice. “Other than that, no, not even a little.”
“I'm not exactly happy that my entire family is dead.”
“I am,” Alsa smirked, crossing her arms in front of her.
Iasea sighed. “I didn’t come here to fight with you, truly.”
“Why did you try to kill her?” Alsabe stared at her once sister. “Kalimè did nothing to you.”
Iasea’s voice grew quiet. “And I did nothing to this House of yours. Yet I am the one who suffers.”
Alsabe scowled. “Kasuura murdered my sister's mother. Ufnas and Shefyura helped her do it.”
“They did,” Iasea confirmed.
“Our people thought you innocent of it, so they let you go.”
“Min'da was obsessed with getting back into Mire's graces,” she replied in surrender.
“Well, perhaps she is, as the two of them roam the netherworld together,” she muttered.
“I heard Mire died as well. But no one seems to want to tell me what happened,” she pried, hoping Alsabe would give her something of use. “To either of them.”
Alsabe smirked, “They crossed my father.” She gave the older woman nothing more.
“There's nothing left, Alsabe,” she whispered. “Everything is gone. I lashed out, it was horrible. I am sorry for it.”
Alsabe narrowed her eyes. “...what are you saying?”
“What I did was wrong and I am sorry. This is done with.”
“You're sorry…” she repeated dubiously.
“I am sorry for sending people after the young one,” she amended quietly.
“What did you think you were going to accomplish?”
“I don't know! Make you hurt as much as I did?” Her ice blue eyes, searched Alsa’s pale face. It was so unlike her own pink one. “Make you understand what it feels like to have nothing and no one. Permanently?”
Alsabe face hardened. “I faced that a long time ago, Iasea. I spent my life hurting, until Kajeda took me in.”
Iasea nodded. “But you still had a place to live. Clothes, food, people who would get whatever you needed.”
“Would you rather they had killed you?”
“Since the world tree burned,” she whispered. “Very much so.” Alsabe eye twitched. “I was a fool. I let myself be bitter and horrible, just like Min'da was. And now? Now I really know what it's like to feel alone. And with no chance of seeing our home again. I see our people hurting and I think it would be better if I did something...I don't know, better than what I was doing?” Alsabe looked confused. It’s working. If I just keep playing on her sympathies, I’ll have her. Iasea sniffled a little. "I just wanted you to know that I am not going to harm anyone else in your family.”
Alsa watched her in silence for a long few minutes. Very quietly she asked, “Are you expecting this to simply be forgiven?”
Iasea shook her head. “No. But I am hoping that maybe I can give you something in return.”
“What could you possibly offer?”
Iasea withdrew a piece of paper from her pocket. “The names of the three men I paid.”
Alsabe frowned. “You will give them up?”
Iasea placed the parchment on the table and slid it over to her with a single finger. “If I turn them over to you, I cannot ever use them against your family again.”
“Why, Iasea, what do you hope to gain?”
“Nothing. I just want to put it all behind me.” Alsabe looked uncertain, but lifted the note from the table. “What else can I do…sister?”
Alsabe eyes flashed a darker shade of purple. “I am not your sister,” came her guttural reply.
“Not by my choice.”
“My sister is the one whose child you tried to murder.” Iasea nodded, casting her eyes to the table. “I was cast aside, you did not reach out, you never even asked if I was all right.”
“I was forbidden to do so,” she offered quietly.
Alsabe frowned. “Where is this coming from. Iasea?  It’s not like we were close before,” she stated, looking at the names on the paper in her hand.
“Maybe that is the very problem. We never got close. Isn't that what sisters are supposed to be,” she asked gently.  “Maybe we missed out on something and Min'da's cruelty dug in too deep.” Alsabe looked troubled as Iasea shifted in the ill fitted robe. Iasea looked at her hands before returning her gaze to Alsabe. “I don't expect you will forgive me. But I hope you will trust that this is over. There will be no more threats, no more attempts on anyone.”
Alsabe rubbed her eyes. “ Iasea…” Iasea let her breath catch in her throat. Alsabe waved the note at her. “I will give them your peace offering, but...Papa does not forgive. There will be a price for what you did.”
Iasea stood and held out her hands. “You are looking at everything I have.” Alsabe looked stricken but tried to hide it. Iasea gestured to herself, “This...this is the entirety of the House of Moonwhisper. All the members, all the funding, everything.” Iasea flopped down into the chair, a tear rolling down her cheek.
Alsabe’s voice cracked slightly. “Am I supposed to feel sorry for you?”
“You feel whatever you want to feel. I am merely telling you how things stand. If there is a price to be paid, he will have to take it from me. There's nothing else.”
“It won't be money, Iasea. Papa takes payment in blood.”
Iasea held out her wrists. Her voice was quiet, resigned. “Then let him take it.” Alsabe recoiled, unprepared for that response. “I don't know what else I can do or say. If I must pay for what I did, and the price if in blood, then take it.”
“It is not my place. Papa will decide what to do.”
Iasea's eyes filled with tears, but she nodded. “I will be in the survivor's camp on the other side of the city.”
Alsabe waved the note again. “This may buy you some measure of mercy.” She looked the other woman over. “Have you eaten?” Iasea shook her head. At that, Alsabe asked the server to bring over a small meal. The other started to argue, but Alsabe insisted.
Iasea nodded her gratitude. “Is she all right? The young one, I mean.”
“She will be, she has had a team of healers on her day and night. The Silverthorns take care of their own.”
“That is good,” she whispered.
“If she died, you understand, nothing would save you,” Alsa told her. “No power in this world.”
“Like Min’da?”
“Worse.”
“I don’t even know what that means,” she countered. She nodded her thanks at the server placing the sandwich in front of her. Alsabe’s face hardened. “I don't know what was done to her, only that she was killed.”
“Pray you never do,” Alsa answered coldly.
“Who did it?”
“That is not for me to say.” Iasea sighed, and tugged on the dress again, trying to get it to sit more comfortably. Alsabe looked Iasea over. “You keep picking at that dress.”
“It doesn't fit right,” she replied quietly. “It's not mine. My clothes were destroyed escaping the tree.”
“Where did you get it?”
“One of the other survivors.” She picked up the sandwich and took a bite.
“Did you steal it,” Alsa accused her.
Iasea scowled and shook her head. “No. They gave some of their clothes to the healers.” Alsabe gazed at Iasea impassively for a moment. “It's fine. At least it's better than the singed one I had on.”
“I shall give your message to my family,” Alsa sighed.
“Thank you Alsabe. Please, let them all know that I mean them no more harm. Nor you.”
“I can't be sure how they will react,” she responded. “Well, except in the case of your friends,” she smirked, brandishing the note. “I hope you weren’t fond of them.”
“I will take my meal and go sit back at the camp then. I wouldn't want to ruin any appetite you may have. Be safe, Alsabe.”
Alsabe gazed at Iasea, looking conflicted. “Where are you sleeping, Iasea?”
“At the camp. There's some soft patches on the ground that the druids have created. I will be fine.”
Alsabe reached into a purse and pulls out a few gold pieces, setting them on the table. “Get yourself a bed, Iasea.” Iasea shook her head, turning away. “Oh for Elune's sake don't argue.”
“Keep your money. I don't deserve it.” She stood and dusted the crumbs from the front of her dress. “Not after what I did.”
“I won't miss it, just take it.”
Iasea sighed and picked up the gold. “That is exceedingly generous of you.”
Alsabe chewed her lip. “I will try to convince my father to leave you alone for now.”
“Good night, Alsabe. Go home to your family. I won't trouble you again.”
Alsabe sighed and bowed. “Goodnight, Iasea,” she whispered. She turned and walked away as Iasea picked up the food on the table and wrapped it in a napkin. Once Alsabe was out of sight, she grinned like a cat. Go, little girl. Go off to your snug bed and think I am done with you.

Time for me to be insane about my D&D character (AKA rant incoming)
Nim is slowly but surely deconstructing their old life and with it everything they thought they knew about themself and the world they live in. Annulling their marriage with sennin, writing possibly the last letter they will ever write to their grandmother, burning the symbols of who they were when the took this job, and finally Taking a new name. For all extent and purposes Animesh Moonwhisper is dead.
Now on the new name. I wanted to choose a name that would make sense. Something that wasn't far from his heritage but would speak to the importance and purpose that doing this has to him. Vratya. this hearkens to Indian History, since i based Nim off of my Indian heritage. this passage really spoke to me;
The pluralistic character of that society was characterized not merely by its composition but also by the divergent views held by its thinkers. There were non -conformists and dissenters even among the Vedic philosophers. In addition, there were individuals and groups who were outside the pale of the Vedic fold; and who practiced, the pre-Vedic traditions; and rejected the validity of the Vedas and its rituals.
The prominent among such dissenters and rebels were the Vratyas. They were an atrociously heterogeneous community; and defied any definition. Even to this day, the meaning of the term Vratya is unclear; and is variously described. The amazing community of the Vratyas included magicians, medicine men, shamans, mystics, materialists, vagrant or mendicant (parivrajaka), wandering madmen, roaming- footloose warriors, mercenaries, fire eaters, poison swallowers , libidinous pleasure seekers and wandering swarm of austere ascetics.
Some of them were violent and erotic; while some others were refined and austere; and a lot others were just plain crazy. It was a random assortment of nuts and gems.
Vratya, as a name, holds this connotation of wanderer, dissenter, and rebelion. There is an element of the unknown to it. It speaks to the need to extracate ones self from old thoughts and traditions and create yourself anew amongst chaos.
However, There is still one thing that's stopping Vratya from completely reinventing himself. The party. The are a part of who he was at the beginning of the adventure, but they were also the catalyst for this change. With Adva gone and Chantry back, they feel like leaving would be the best option, but they are also selfish and keep letting themselves be pulled back in. This is the closest Vratya has ever had to an actual family dynamic and they aren't strong enough to let it go, even if they know it would be better for all involved.
tldr: big “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now… she’s dead.” vibes

Since it’s her birthday, I decided to redesign a DnD character. She was originally based on 17 ships/pairings (props to you if you can guess what ones) and had 102 colors in her pallet asdfghjkl. Grandmum got sick, never thought of among their family. Jearrha never knew her grandma on her mom’s side and never thought deeper into it. Grandmum has a short speech with Jearrha (still have to think of) about seeing the world and jumping for opportunities. Jearrha cries as she hands her a fox necklace, then Grandmum dies. @shepherds-of-haven I had to post cause I got confused by quoting lol But here he is, chocolate eclair man.
There are some things that are weird like being rebellious and self-preserving at the same time because I see him more of a person that would scheme a lot and do things under the radar until he can strike. Is friendly and charming if approached but won’t initiate conversations on his own (unless he can get something out of it) and will only put himself in danger if he has any interests out of it, like saving Prihine and not Caine because he was interested on her.
