The current lead singer and keytarist of the android band ZUSAMMEN.
Voiced by VOCALOID RUBY
Tumblr media
Uwe - She/her - Android
Guitarist and backup vocalist for ZUSAMMEN.
Voiced by VOCALOID DAINA
Tumblr media
Renata - They/them - Android
Bassist for ZUSAMMEN.

Tumblr media
Cavell Henschen - He/him - Human
Drummer for ZUSAMMEN.
Voiced by…?
Tumblr media
Mateo Sanchez - He/him - Human
A robotics engineer and ZUSAMMEN’s producer.
Not much is known about him yet, but he features prominently in DEATH REPORT.
Voiced by…?
Tumblr media
DARKBOLT - He/him - Human
Again, not much is known about him yet, but he is the current songwriter for ZUSAMMEN.
Voiced by…?
The Lonesome Division - The Japanese division of a certain unknown organization, so named because they have so few members and are disconnected from the rest of the organization. They’re in NYC to investigate strange happenings surrounding the ZUSAMMEN concerts.
Tumblr media
Takashi Saitou - They/them - Human
The “leader” of the Lonesome Division, by virtue of being the oldest.
Their aberration means that when they’re nearby, anything that can go wrong will go wrong, unless they specifically think about it. A lot of their headspace is taken up by considering all the possible ways that any given situation could go badly.
Voiced by vflower
Tumblr media
Kagami Hana - She/her or they/them - Human
The resident technology expert of the Lonesome Division, who built a ghost detection machine by herself.
Her understanding of technology means that although she doesn’t have an aberration (ability), she’s still able to keep up with her teammates.
Voiced by VOCALOID Yukari Yuzuki
Tumblr media
Ayu Kunikida - He/him - Human
The “dad friend” of the Lonesome Division, though he’s not the oldest.
His aberration is that he’s able to turn invisible and visible at will, though sometimes he tends to forget which state he’s in, and he sometimes turns invisible without meaning to.
Voiced by YOHIOloid
Tumblr media
Ton Siegel - He/him - Android
Former lead singer of ZUSAMMEN.
Also worked at a diner called Thermopolis, which is how he met the Division.
As of WELCOME TO THE (LONESOME) DIVISION, he’s now a member of the Lonesome Division (and quit his job, without needing much encouragement.)
Despite the fact that he’s an android, he seems to be able to experience emotions.
Voiced by VOCALOID DEX
Tumblr media
SHIRONEKO - She/her - Human
The “old commander” mentioned by Takashi in WELCOME TO THE DIVISION.
Not much is clear about her yet.
Voiced by…?
The Hellhounds - A biker gang based in New York City, who seem to be fearsome… Or maybe Ton is just afraid of them. Their leader is Dice, who mostly uses her (admittedly haunted) bike for pizza delivery, so…
Tumblr media
Dice - She/her - Human
The current leader of a biker gang called the Hellhounds.
Her bike is, as said by Iskra in OUR LUCKY DAY, haunted.
This aside, she moonlights as a pizza delivery driver, and Domino is her younger brother.
She also appears prominently alongside her partner Jun in Fade to Sky.
Voiced by…?
??? - Characters with unknown or unclear allegiances.
Tumblr media
Elke Greene - He/him - Human
A government spy, who used to write ZUSAMMEN’s songs.
Having been sent to New York to investigate ZUSAMMEN’s re-emergence, he ran into his partner, Mateo, who by all accounts should not be alive.
Voiced by VOCALOID DEX
Tumblr media
Iskra - She/her - Human
Encounters with this girl always seem to result in somebody screaming.
All she wants to do is hang out with her best friend, hunt cryptids, and protect the city.
Voiced by VOCALOID Rin Kagamine
Tumblr media
Domino - He/him - Human
Dice’s little brother, Iskra’s best friend.
Despite being called “lucky”, he often feels like everything goes in exactly the way he doesn’t want it to go.
Voiced by VOCALOID Len Kagamine
Tumblr media
Jun Zhang - They/them - Human
A spirit medium who received their aberration following the accidental “death” of both of their parents, and is now able to perceive and interact with both natural and human spirits.
Voiced by…?
Tumblr media
Lucas - He/him - Human (Ghost)
A ghost aberration bearer who appears alongside Jun in Fade to Sky. Perhaps over time his story will become better understood…?

Ch 3. Feel it Still.
Summary > One > Two > Three > Four
Aomine Daiki x Reader [MDNI]
Aomine groans as he wakes up, stretching his arms, Well no practice at least. He rubs and squints his eyes as he sees a tail wagging at the edge of his bed. Wha- “I was wondering you could take care of Tetsuya 2 since you won’t be playing for a couple of days.” Kuroko talks calmly, looking up at him in anticipation. “Yeah sure.”
The bell goes off in Aomine’s head, Wait a second. His brain short circuits, as he looks between Kuroko and Tetsuya 2 subsequently. ”What-how- WHEN DID YOU GET IN.”
Kuroko just smiles and puts Tetsuya 2 on Aomine’s lap. “Thank you.” Momoi speaks from the other end of the room,”Riko said you should still be there.”“ Aomine short circuits again, “You are here too?!!”
Momoi giggles as Aomine grumbles, “Remind me to change my locks.”
“You will be there right?” Momoi Satsuki, who is the chief analyst of the Basketball Association, studies his expression tilting her head. Normally Aomine would have skipped, since what’s the point of going if you can’t play ball but your pretty face pops into his head and he responds, “Yeah, whatever.” As he scratches the back of his neck.
To his dismay, you don’t show up at the practice, something about recovering from jetlag and sleeping in late. To his further dismay, he was now the errand boy for the group.
“Hey Mine-chin, can you get some fruit chuppets for me? Im not feeling it without ‘em today. And since you’re not doing anything..” Murasakibara trails off in his usual jarring tone. “And if you’re getting those, can you also get some Sparkling Water, Aominechhi?” Kise peeps from behind Murasakibara. Aomine gives them the death stare and soon, there’s a list of errands he has to run for everyone.
He groans and starts dragging his feet to the supermarket along with Tetsuya 2. Upon paying for all the things he just bought, his phone dings. “Can you get my knee pads? - My apartment is on the way. The door code is 458902” - Kagami. Great. Him too. He rolls his eyes. Just keeps getting worse this day.
He starts making his way with the little pup following him enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, at your place, you step out of the cold shower with a towel wrapped around yourself, the ends of your hair still dripping wet. You finally feel better from sleeping in late and taking the cold shower. You blast music on max volume, Feel it Still playing as you rock along the beat.
You start grooving to the music, your feet and body moves animatedly pretending to be a sexy dancer. You bend down and pick up your panties from your suitcase, you get up sexily with your hips moving in circular motion, you do a final hairlip as you get up.
You flip around to your make-believe audience, with your left hand on your waist and right hand raised holding your panties. You scream in shock as you see the same blue-haired male standing in front of you, same shock etched on his face, his mouth open in bewilderment.
Your mind is racing like the wind and face is getting red in embarrassment. You watch him slowly close his mouth and gulp. You both look at each other in stupor, unable to form words.
As the music dies down, the silence pierces through the room, breaking the stupor. Your eyebrows start scrunching up in anger, and he takes it as a queue to look away from you, you can see a red hue forming on his cheeks. You fold your arms, “What the hell are you doing here?”
“I uh-“ Before he could finish, he’s interrupted by a loud shriek, he looks back at you only to find you on top of the coffee table pointing at Tetsuya 2, “What the hell is that?” You notice the little pup and start freaking out, you have never been a dog person, and are scared shitless of them.
Tetsuya 2 on the other hand just wags his tail and pounces around the coffee table trying to get to you. Aomine starts laughing looking at the scene in front of him, his eyes forming tears.
“What the hell are you laughing at” You scream as you jump from one couch to the other. “Take it back!!”
At this point Tetsuya 2 manages to jump on your couch. Shrieking, you jump from that couch to the one near Aomine, but right before your take off, Tetsuya 2 bites down on your towel.
Aomine’s eyes become wide as you jump onto him, completely naked, shrieking and putting your arms around him, his basketball reflexes catching you bridal style. He freezes as he looks down at you, naked, drenched, and in his arms. Your hair dripping water onto your soft body. You are breathing hard, your eyes are closed in fear.
Aomine chuckles and commands Tetsuya 2, “Hey 2, sit.”
You open one eye and see the pup sitting down, wagging his tail, no longer jumping on you.
You sigh in relief and look up at Aomine, still in his hold, and then back to your body. You shriek watching yourself completely naked and get off Aomine in a hurry. “S-stop looking!”
Aomine turns around trying to control his laughter, he walks to the pup taking the towel clutched between the pup’s teeth and handing it you, with his back still turned towards you. You quickly take it and wrap it around yourself. He picks up Tetsuya 2 in his hands.
“And what exactly are you doing here?” You walk back to your suitcase. “Don’t look.” You pick up a sweatpant and a loose hoody.
“I came here to get Kagami’s knee pads. He forgot ‘em here.” Aomine states with his back turned to you. You quickly put the clothes on you. “Im done.”
Aomine turns around to look at you, little pup smiling in his hold. “Aomine Daiki”
“Y/n L/n.” You open the drawer and toss the knee pads at Aomine.
He catches ‘em,”Nice to meet ya.” He says with a shit-eating grin.
“Yeah, whatever. Close the door on your way out.” You speak calmly, trying to act cool, as if nothing happened.
He walks towards the door, when he turns around, “Im uh-..Im sorry about the..whole thing”
“Cool.” You shrug looking away.
The door clicks as he exits.
“Ughhhhh” You groan loudly and lie face down on the couch, burying your face in the pillow. You’re embarrassed as hell, and start screaming into the pillow, “The fuck! The fuck! The fuck!” You groan once more.
You hear someone clearing their throat, and you look up from the pillow, your eyes blowing out of their sockets. He’s still here. Just kill me already.
“I-uh. I forgot to take the groceries.” He says with the shit-eating grin.
“Just leave.”
He quickly picks up the groceries and winks at you before turning back to open the door.
“And never come back again.”
“Sure thing.” He says while leaving. You can feel him grinning and are staring daggers on his back. The door clicks shut.
You groan, “I hate this life.” And bury your head in the pillow again.

hi this is kind of random but. ive seen a few posts so far from people in the fandom expressing they don't like/aren't interested in mikayuu anymore and i was curious if you knew why? it's been like a long time since i was into ons (like 2018? 😭) so im pretty out of the loop and was wondering if smth crazy happened ig lol 😭
I'm more of a recent addition to the fandom (watched/read ons for the 1st time in 2021 lol) but here's what I observed I think (not sure if you've read the manga but just in case huge spoiler warning)(also I may or may not be biased against them since my favs are the vampires and shinoa squad without mikayuu lol):
- there is just too much of them. Obviously they're the main characters but ons always had a colorful cast of characters and a lot of them (mainly Shinoa squad tbh) were sidelined during the shibuya arc and basically turned into cardboard cutouts that shout "Yuu!" every few chapters. Though they did get their personalities back in ch 133, it took way too long imo.
- Mikayuu barley changed as people and their relationship stayed basically the same. Once they reunited and Mika 'joined' Shinoa squad their relationship dynamic could be boiled down to: Yuu is kinda stupid and wants to do smth bc fAmLIy or whatever, Mika disagrees, Yuu does the equivalent of puppy dog eyes, Mika begrudgingly agrees, Yuu gets what he wants with minimal consequenz. After a while it's just not interesting to have the main character constantly winning. Heck, Mika's 'death' and demon transformation barley did anything in the long run.
Like at one point, it got brought up that Mika is losing his emotions for everything except Yuu, which was a pretty interesting idea and could have brought conflict into their realtionship. But a few weeks later (in-story, took a few years irl lol) Mika gets turned into a demon, regains his emotions and the former conflict is left in the dust.
Now with Mika as a demon, he lost all of his agency. He is literally stuck to Yuu and the most he can do against him is refuse to give him power but Yuu can just force it out of him so. Pretty fucked.
After they split off from the main group post Shibuya arc, they once again have an inkling of a conflict.
For context, they split off bc Yuu had to either choose between resurrecting humanity or only Mika (at least that's how Guren phrased it). Yuu's gayass chose Mika and at first they had an argument bc Mika doesn't value his life and would rather have everyone revived at his expense. Yuu goes 'nuh-uh' and makes a run for it, devoures Asuramaru/Ashera in the process.
Once they've run off, Mika confornts Yuu and shouts at him, saying he should have a happy life with his human family instead of Mika. Yuu once again goes "nuh-uh" and decides to revive all of humanity, Mika included.
- They restate their goal, plans and whatnot too much. Ons is a monthly manga with ~35 pages per chapter. In Mikayuu centric chapters, almost half (if not all) are wasted on restating the goals they've stated LAST FUCKING CHAPTER. Maybe Kagami doesn't trust the readers memory but man, you didn't do this before, did you? Why now all of a sudden? There's plenty of plot to get through, we can reread old chapters if we forget something.
There's also way too much goofing around. Obviously down-time is needed in any action packed series but we've gotten so much random cut-ins of Yuu needing food in what are supposed to be tense moments. Also we do not need an entire chapter of them hunting, eating and talking about their plans and others plans.
-
This is all I remembered off the top of my head, anyone feel free to add more

Do you have a basic storyline in mind or who dies each chapter/who survives the game planned out for your Danganronpa AU, or are you just thinking about the designs for now (which have been super cute and spot on)?
I can pair each character’s potential death with a chapter number based on the DR formula and their vibes lol, and now I’m thinking about who’d survive. For some characters I can see them going both ways.
Sorry this took me so long to get to (i wanted to be sure about my chapter set up before I answered).
So- the victims and the culprits, chapter by chapter:
Ch 1.: culprit: Zoe. Sympathetic angle. Similar to Kaede in D3. Victim: Juleka. (Rose is furious and a massive help in this case- same with Luka.)
Ch. 2.: culprit: Nathaniel. Only goes after Luka once he confronts Nathaniel about having involvement in Juleka’s case. I want this case to be complicated and sad.
Ch. 3.: culprit: Sabrina. First, Chloe and Sabrina go after Marinette, but end up killing Rose instead. Sabrina then kills Chloe. Double murder case.
Ch. 4.: culprit: Kagami. Victim: Kagami. It’s pretty much Sakura’s trial in D1. (Adrien and Marinette are particularly distraught).
Ch. 5: culprit: probably Lila. Victim: Alya. (Marinette is framed- we get a ch 5 Makoto situation here).
Ch 6.: we find out who the ultimate despair is
Survivors: Marinette, Nino, Adrien, Alix, and Mark
So yeah, that’s what I got so far

Perfect Paradise Ch.12:
Don't Talk 'bout Me Like How You Might Know How I Feel
Summary: Back to school.
"H-hey, dude!" Nino rose from his seat to kiss both of Alya's cheeks.
"Hey," Alya returned the favor and plopped down. "Ughhhh!"
Despite his nervousness Nino grinned as Alya let her head fall back and look up at the ceiling. "Rough day?"
Alya slid her hands over her face before sliding them down. "They published some trash in the opinion section about Kagami and I am this close to letting him have it."
"Same guy? I'm surprised they still hire him."
"We don't even know each other and I hate him viscerally!"
"We could always tp his house," Nino suggested jokingly.
"No, that won't work. He lives in an apartment."
Nino chuckled.
The waiter came by with two coffees.
"Thanks dude. We're good for now."
"Oh thank god." Alya grabbed her steaming mug of black coffee and sipped.
"Can you even taste anything while burning your tongue like that?" Nino smirked.
"No comments from the guy trying to stay awake until next week," Alya replied, gesturing to his quadruple expresso mocha.
Nino lifted his drink. "Perks of being the Turtle. No crashes or jitters."
"Lucky! Remind me when that happened?"
"Sometime during university. Woke up after an all nighter with no hangover. Kim was soooo jealous!" Nino laughed.
Alya laughed with him. Likely imagining the look on Kim's face. "Was that before or after...?"
"A few months after we broke up, yeah." Nino thought back to that year. "We were still giving each other space..."
"... Because falling back into old habits was too easy," Alya sighed. "Man, we were dumb."
"Morono-sauruses," Nino agreed, staring at his coffee.
Alya scoffed but grinned. "What about you? I hear you finally performed in a club. And not just any club, Le Chemin Sombre!"
"Adrien and I got married!" Nino exhaled in a rush.
"Are you fucking kidding me!?" Alya slammed her palms on the table.
"Not so loud!" Nino stage whispered, leaning in.
Alya glanced at the handful of other patrons, who gave her a look at her outburst but otherwise returned to their own mornings. Copying Nino, Alya lowered her voice and scooted closer. "WTF dude? What do you mean you're married!?"
"Well we went to City Hall and filled out the paperwork..."
"Nino, I swear if you don't-"
"He's worried about the kids okay?" Nino ran his hands over his face. "Dude just straight up asked me to take care of them if he couldn't and I just- What was I supposed to say? 'No'!? Yeah right."
"Did you want to say no?"
"No, but... Gah!" Nino dropped his head to the table.
Alya moved his coffee to the side so it wouldn't spill. Patting him on the back.
"I'm not upset," Nino sighed. "Just... processing."
"Right... And it's got nothing to do with Adrien proposing for practical reasons," Alya stated a bit too reasonably.
"Adrien's my bro, dude. Y'know I love him more than anyone."
"Mm-hm. I know. It was kinda obvious when you became his kids' third parent."
"I just said it's a marriage of convenience."
"Actually meant before that... Way, way before. But speaking of the kids, do they know?"
"Not yet."
"Hmmm," Alya said, stressing the silent judgement.
"We're going to tell them!" Nino replied defensively.
"Uh-huh." Suddenly remembering her coffee Alya took a drink.
"We are!"
A few tables away, covered by a minor invisibility Mirage, Wayzz and Trixx played with sugar cubes.
"Oh, things just got interesting," Trixx grinned.
"Must you look at the Young Master like that?" Wayzz asked, poking her cheek with a teaspoon.
Trixx floated out of reach. "Not so young anymore. And it's not my fault your Avatar likes the dramatic ones," she teased.
Wayzz didn't deign that with a response even if he did agree.

I'm changing my name and moving to an isolated cabin in the woods before everyone comes after me. 😂
I also regret to say the next chapter is not one where I had parts written ahead of time so it may take a bit to resolve this mystery I've left you with, but I have some scheduled free time coming up so I hope it won't be *too* long.
He wasn’t used to living alone.
He hadn’t ever had occasion before to consider it, but it was a fact. He had shared a room with Juleka until he left home. There was no privacy in the whirl of Jagged’s retinue, and even in the off times between tours, Luka had spent most of his time traveling, working with various mentors Jagged had connected him with, or otherwise getting experience in different areas of the music business. It felt like a large part of the last year had been spent trying to find time to himself, and now—
Well, he had it. Dingo had moved in with Bri for the off season, or until she got sick of him and kicked him out, whichever came first. Luka hadn’t wanted to intrude on Juleka and Rose for months, and now the little studio apartment he had rented felt…very quiet. He left his two small windows open to let in the street noise when it got too much for him.
He played, of course. He played, and he tried to write, and the pen shook in his hand, knowing that his whole future and the future of everyone who was betting on him would depend on what he wrote. He paced the small space, and he took long walks, and he sat in the park and ate in cafes and tried to remind himself why he loved Paris. He showed up at the studio and at band meetings when he was required to, but his answer was always the same when they asked him how the new album was coming. “I’m still working on it.”
He missed Marinette. She would have been so excited for his first apartment alone, no matter how small it might be. She would have made him floor pillows and curtains while he pretended to protest through his laughter. She would have filled the room with her larger than life personality and even after she left, her energy would linger in him, spurring him to at least tack up some pictures of his loved ones, and he’d be smiling as he tried to work out his plan for the new album, even if it frustrated him.
She wasn’t answering his calls at all, now. Not since Kagami had gone to see her. Luka had finally called Kagami, and when he finally got through her layers of assistants, the flat way she had answered the phone made him change his question to, “Are you okay?”
That seemed to take her off guard, and she answered softly, “I don’t know. I don’t know anything anymore. Were we ever really friends, Luka?”
“That bad, huh?”
“No…no, not exactly. It was just—it felt like I was having lunch with Adrien instead of Marinette. Like she was reading a script. She just kept… smiling …”
She couldn’t see his slow nod, of course.
“Was it ever real?” Kagami asked. “Did I just imagine it was different with her?”
“No,” Luka promised her, but it was all the reassurance he could give.
“Are you sure you can’t…” Kagami trailed off, and it took him a moment to realize she wouldn’t continue, so accustomed was he to her clipped, precise speech.
“No,” he whispered. “I can’t. I told her a long time ago I would always respect her choices. I can't go back on that now.”
If his work had been slow going before, it had practically dragged to a halt since that conversation. There was only the quiet, and the sense that he was waiting. For something to happen. For something to change.
And now…
Luka sat at the tiny second-hand table he used for both eating and working, and stared at the blank white wall without seeing it.
Some days he hated himself for asking her to put her name on him. Maybe if he hadn’t, he’d think they were still fine. Still friends. Maybe he’d still believe what she told him last time he saw her—that they were good. Still good.
Luka glanced at the magazine on the counter next to him and shoved it away. He picked up his glass and took a large swallow. Only water. He didn’t trust himself with anything stronger right now.
He wondered if she ever hated him for putting his mark on her. She always kept it covered, either with her clothes or her hair, only the edges peeking out here and there in all her press photos.
For his privacy, she had once explained.
Was that still why?
Luka was sure it was as dark as it had ever been. The less she thought of him, the more he thought of her. Did she hate him for that?
Did she even think about him enough to hate him?
His hand bunched the fabric of his shirt over his side and he sighed.
The ring of his phone wasn’t at all unexpected. Luka picked it up, figuring he might as well get it over with.
“Hey,” he said dully.
There was a gusty sigh on the other side of the line. “You saw it, didn’t you.”
“Yeah.”  At least when she’d been dating Adrien, she’d cared enough to call him personally. Now he didn’t even warrant a phone call for one of the biggest events in her life.
“And now you’re moping around telling yourself how you’re glad she’s happy.”
“I am glad she’s happy.” If she even was happy. He had his doubts, looking at that picture, at the model-perfect smile on her face and the careful posing of her hand to show the glittering ring. At her blond, smirking fiancé with a face that was far too similar to another one he remembered. What are you doing, Marinette?
“You’re so full of shit.”
“Sure, Ding,” Luka sighed.
“Look, Lu, I don’t know what changed between you guys, but this...thing, isn’t good for you anymore.”
Luka grunted, not especially interested in Dingo’s opinion of his love life, or lack thereof. He drew circles in the condensation his glass had left on the countertop. He still loved her, yeah, but right now…he’d give a lot just to have his friend back.
“Lu,” Dingo said, his voice uncharacteristically serious. “Finish the song.”
Luka froze, stomach turning to ice.
“Finish it, perform it, record it,” Dingo said firmly. “Tell her all the things you’ve been holding back all this time. Get it—” He paused, and didn’t say get it out of your system, for which Luka was grateful.
Luka pressed his lips together, and swallowed the lump in his throat. “You think?”
“Yeah. It’s time, mate.”
Luka’s shoulders hunched, and he gradually folded in on himself until his forehead rested on the table. It was cold, he noted absently.
“Lu?”
“I’ll think about it,” Luka sighed.
“Don’t think about it,” Dingo advised, “Just do it. Your work sucks when you think. Just…get it out. You’re going to choke on it if you don’t, anyway.”
Luka snorted softly. “I gotta go,” he said, quietly, and didn’t wait for an answer as he hung up the phone. He put it carefully on the table next to him, and folded his arms around his head. His breathing had gone shaky and it was loud in spite of the road noise and raised voices coming through his window. Some detached, blank corner of his mind listened to the rhythm of his harsh breaths drowning out the sound of the world rolling by, listened to the rhythm change as his eyes began to sting, listened to it become stuttery and uneven as breaths became sobs. Later, when he could play, when he could hear the music again, he would need that rhythm. But for now, it just felt...silent. Empty. No music. No color.
No smiles, no laughter. No stuttering, no crescendo to that’s not what I meant, Luka! and no sighs of exasperation that always ended in comforting hugs given and received. No late night calls, no trading frustrations and mock threats. No quiet whispering of fears that couldn’t be admitted beyond the quiet space beyond the two of them.
He had to let all that go. She had let him go, and he had to respect it.
But it hurt. It hurt a lot, and he sat with his head down on his tiny table and cried, mourning the loss of something that had been such a huge part of his life.

In the end, he wrote a whole album full of songs. He wrote hopeful songs. He wrote sad songs. He wrote angry songs. He wrote his love and his heartbreak and he didn’t stop until it was all out. He wrote it, he recorded it, he performed it, throwing his entire self into his work, both the recording and the performing. Night after night he relived his heartbreak in front of crowds of screaming strangers, and every night he went back to his hotel room feeling like he’d left a piece of himself on stage, wondering if he left enough pieces then it wouldn’t hurt anymore, or when the repetition would finally dull the pain. He fell asleep exhausted and woke up empty, and somehow had to find it in himself to do it all again.
Critics praised his musicality. Fans gushed about his sincerity and passion (and, of course, his good looks). Gossip magazines passed rumors of conflict in the band, affairs with his personnel, and speculated on his diet and weight changes. They published pictures of him haggard and depressed with theories about his deteriorating mental state, and gleefully predicted the band’s downfall when the bass player left, or was kicked out, depending on the “source.” Ticket sales soared through it all.
And then when the tour was over, proclaimed a wild success, Luka Couffaine disappeared. Vanished from the music scene like he had never been. A sabbatical, his publicist assured the press and his disappointed but devoted fans. He’d be back, recharged and ready to create.
A breakdown, suggested the tabloids. Maybe even a drug spiral. They published photos of him with his head in one hand and a bottle of pills in the other. Maybe he was in some celebrity rehab facility somewhere. His fans scoffed. Everyone knew he struggled with headaches, ever since he had had to stop a show in Sweden to ask them to change the lights. He had admitted it and everyone loved him for his vulnerability and humanity. Addicted to prescription painkillers, countered the tabloids, to the outrage of Luka’s defenders.
His representatives only reiterated what they had always said, and the press’s search for him went nowhere. Eventually, they ran out of news, or even rumors. Fans mourned and hoped by turns.
But the entertainment industry moves quickly, and before too long, Luka Couffaine was forgotten.
