Hedy Lamarr's 'peacock dress', designed by Edith Head, for "Samson and Delilah", 1949. I heard the feathers were gathered from the grounds of Cecil B. DeMille's estate.

I was watching an animated biopic about Cecil B. DeMille, and got into an argument with my sister about the origin of the name Cecil.

It wouldn’t be Easter Sunday without TV stations blocking-out their schedules with turgid 1950s Biblical epics! I have a fondness for these (in small doses!). Channel 5 is currently showing Cecil B Demille’s The Ten Commandments (1956) in all its ponderous 222-minute Technicolour splendour. Sure, Charlton Heston as Moses is a snore, but I love the oddball supporting cast: Vincent Price! Edward G Robinson! Yul Brynner! Judith Anderson! Yvonne DeCarlo! Nina Foch! And as slinky Queen Nefertiti, sashaying around in gold lamé and green chiffon ensembles by Edith Head, Anne Baxter absolutely slays!
