WIP Wednesday SATURDAY
Tagged by the lovely @jazzythursday here’s some catstarion ❤️
Halsin’s golden eyes scanned over the little cat’s face, but there was a slight furrow in his brow. A big hand tentatively reached out to touch. No sound accompanied it— not a snap of teeth or warning hiss. Just utter silence, and the overwrought trembling of the creature against his chest.
“May I?” Their resident druid held out his hands in askance. The idea of letting someone else take the cat had Gale’s throat going dry and tight, surprisingly so. Halsin, of course, saw the hesitation immediately. “You’ve been a good friend to him, Gale. He’s safe now. May I?”
“Of- of course, yes. Apologies. I must be missing my own cat.” The nervous laugh was unbidden, as was the bloom of heat in his cheeks. “Is he alright?”
“Just a bit frightened, still. This must have come as quite a shock.”
His arms felt weak without the weight he’d been carrying.
“Came as a shock to all of us, that’s for sure.” Wyll chuckled, shaking his head incredulously. “When we couldn’t find him after the fight, I began to fear a much worse fate befell him.”
“I’m not certain Astarion wouldn’t have preferred one of those fates to this.”
“Chk. To be rendered to so soft and small a form? He is helpless.” Lae’zel failed in sounding anything other than fascinated. Maybe even endeared. “It is temporary, this spell?”
“Cats are far from helpless, regardless of their size. You’d be surprised, I believe, by the immense power and hunting prowess in those soft little bodies. As for this beast,” Gale gave a chagrined little smile, raising his still-bleeding hand to the firelight, “I think you’ll find our rogue is still more than capable of carnage.”
“I’d hesitate to refer to Astarion in any form as helpless. But still! Love to know how soft he is… I just don’t want him to try to take a bite out of me. Poor guy might burn himself.”
Halsin hadn’t taken his eyes off his patient. He muttered quietly,
“Be careful, Halsin— he may make a break for it at any time.”
“I don’t think he will.”

I've found a few fics that hc that Astarion purrs when he's happy (Catstarion supremacy lol). Do you think he might if he felt safe enough with Tav?
I am 100% on board with that! I know that bats purr a little bit different from cats but it's not like bats=vampires.

Purring Astarion
Vampires can purr.
They purr when they are safe, happy, and content.
Like cats.
But have you ever seen a happy vampire?
Never. It's as rare as a vampire who can walk in the sunlight.
They suffer. They starve. They hate themselves.
They are tortured. Beaten. Hunted.
They are never safe enough to do so.
Astarion's life used to be hell. There wasn't a single good thing in his pathetic existence.
But he is free now. Cared. Loved.
He can do whatever he wants.
And he isn't alone. He has a person to hold, to talk to, and to share his feelings with.
Who can sit for hours playing with his curls while he trauma-dumps them about the most horrible events of his life.
Astarion learns about new ways of intimacy - bathing together, holding hands, cuddling.
One day, he wakes up after an especially bad nightmare. He doesn't remember what exactly he saw, but it was so unsettling he scratches his skin with his sharp nails.
When you return and see Astarion like that, you place him above you like a weighted blanket.
Pressing his head against your chest and stroking his back.
Your heartbeat and breathing soothe him, and he stops crying.
You lie like that for what seems like an eternity in silence.
He is happy.
At this moment, he realizes that the last six months have become a counterweight to two hundred years of misery.
Astarion relaxes and feels like falling asleep.
You hear a weird sound, as if there was a big cat beside you.
Purring.
You hug Astarion tighter and realize the purring comes from his chest and throat.
He probably isn't even aware of it.
The sound is nice and pleasant, but the very idea is hilarious, and you burst out laughing.
"What - What is this?" Astarion elbows up, staring at you. "Did I do something wrong?"
There is a weird sensation in his throat, and he shakes his head in disbelief.
"You were purring! Like a cat!"
Astarion is shocked.
It's not like he is fond of the idea that his body reacts so openly to feeling good.
(As if having an erection any time you do something playful wasn't enough to embarrass him).
But all his doubts fade into the background as he realizes how much you like it.
It's like having a big cat in your bed who doesn't try to run away if you squeeze it too hard.
And it's a good indication if Astarion really feels good or just pretends.
Sometimes, you think he feels off, only to hear soft purring from his chest.
Sometimes everything is great, but you don't hear this pleasant vibration.
And you also soon realize that if you make Astarion sit between your thighs, his back pressed against your chest, and start playing with his ears and curls, he immediately starts purring.
Safe, loved, protected. Like a happy cat.
Bonus:
You and Astarion have a dhampir-daughter
You two wonder how many vampiric traits your daughter has inherited.
Will she be able to walk on ceilings? Will she have fast regeneration?
You will find it later, but now you have a newborn girl, who isn't really fond of the idea of being pushed into this unpredictable world.
Once you finish the first breastfeeding session, the girl closes her dark eyes…
And start purring like a tiny kitten.

Cartoon where Astarion is a cat and Tav is a golden retriever:
Catstarion threatening them with their claws when they first meet
Dog Tav slobbering all over Catstarion
Catstarion snuggling up to fluffy, warm golden retriever Tav (but only once they're asleep already)
Lots of hissing and clawing
Tav getting their nose clawed one time and running away howling in pain
Catstarion feeling bad and going to lick Tav's wounds
Dog Tav going full guard dog mode to protect Catstarion - bringing out a side in them they barely knew before
Catstarion getting scared up a tree and golden retriever Tav not stopping to bark up - the wrong tree...

This is EXACTLY what I mean when I say Astarion/Catstarion sleeping on bear!Halsin in a star-shaped position. Star shaped snoozing on his bear & Halsin is totally okay with that. In fact, Astarion barely weights anything to bear!Halsin. 😁
Honestly, I'll take Astarion doing this on Halsin while they're resting at the camp. Everyone's watching? Who cares? Definitely not those two.
I'll take Catstarion being silly and making biscuits on Halsin to soothe himself and then snuggling up in that long warm fur.
I'll take my two fav elves being in love, including their animal form together.

If Astarion were a cat, he would:
🐾 Always be nearby, purring and awaiting pets and praise, but would wander off with a turned-up nose because you didn’t pet him in the exact way he wanted.
🐾 Greet you daily by trying to trip you, zig-zagging between your legs, and head-butting your shins, the little shit.
🐾 Show you his belly to convince you he completely trusts you but would secretly do it to scratch the living hells out of your hands when you try to rub him.
🐾 Walk onto your laptop or step in front of your phone because how dare you pay attention to something other than him?
🐾 Knock things off your shelves and attack your ankles when starved for attention—or just because.
🐾 How dare you lock him out of your room at night! Guess he’ll sing his misery until the wee hours of the morning.
🐾 Be the bane of your existence regarding your expensive furniture and rugs. Screw those ridiculous scratching posts.
🐾 Often leave you little presents on the carpet, whether it be hairballs or dead rodents, because you’re clearly too stupid to fend for yourself. And your decor is dreadful. As far as he’s concerned, he’d be doing you a favor.
🐾 Always be close enough to you so he doesn’t feel alone, but not in your lap or in loaf mode on your chest. He’s not that comfortable with you.
🐾 Make biscuits on your expensive clothes, leaves fur all over your blankets, and tears down your drapes at least once a week.
🐾 What’s the point of you even having blinds?
🐾 Stare at you judgmentally no matter what you do, licking his paw, contempt on his little cat face. That is not how you are supposed to cook that. Ugh. You’re wearing that? You should consider showering today. You smell awful.
🐾 Slow blink at you when he’s well-fed, nurtured, and cozy.
🐾 Despite being an absolute terror, he’s always by your bedside when you drift off into sleep and always there when you awaken, purring and waiting patiently to wreak more havoc on your poor, undeserving ankles again.
