I used to smoke weed medically in order to help soothe my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but I recently got officially diagnosed with Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome and the only cure is to not smoke at all. God hates my stupid ass. The end.

Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome!
Took me 10 years+ of smoking before it started to develop and got to the last stage! CHS can happen to anyone even tho it is rare it is very real! It has caused kidney failure in some people and even death in super extreme cases due to the kidney failure! Some people get rotting teeth from the puking and others it messed up their stomach so bad they are now stuck with a feeding tube 😞 (Most of the extreme cases were because they were in denial they had CHS and kept smoking, most were at the last stage of CHS for 5+ years before no turning back for kidney failure) Talking to others who have CHS has really been so helpful in me quitting seeing what it really can do to you! 🙁 I love weed but man my brain does not 😅 The ONLY cure is to not smoke/ingest THC or CBD.

CHS Recovery Tips!
(From someone who actually had a pretty bad case recently)
1. Cut it out entirely
I know this is difficult if you use it for chronic pain or anxiety, but the only way to get rid of the symptoms is to go cold turkey at least for the time being.
2. Buy Dramamine and Saltines
What you're gonna do is right after you wake up, force yourself to eat at least two crackers and thoroughly chew the Dramamine before you even get out of bed. Wait at least an hour before you try to eat, but this should allow you to actually eat something for breakfast.
The first day I tried this, I had already eaten that day and still ended up vomiting after taking it, but after the first week off it worked like a charm and allowed me to eat at least a little for breakfast.
3. Stock up on/get comfortable with yogurt/drinkable calories
Once you're off the Dramamine (took me about a week) you're going to want to eat something before you take your other morning medications. Maybe it's because CHS makes your stomach more sensitive but taking drugs on an empty stomach can seriously upset it, especially that early in the morning.
Aim for yogurts with 100+ calories because they will fill you up more if you can't eat anything else for a little while.
4. Don't be afraid of calories/ high calorie meals
Try and eat a heavy dinner. Once you're over the hump, dinner is going to be the easiest meal for you to eat so EAT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Breakfast is easily the hardest meal to eat but if you eat a big dinner you can avoid feeling hungry and the nausea that comes with it for long enough for your stomach to settle a little bit.
Best of luck, you will feel better, I believe in you!!

How and Why I Quit Smoking Weed
I knew that weed was only holding me back from the other things I wanted to do in life. Instead of looking forward to spending time in nature, pursuing art or hobbies, I was looking forward to smoking a bowl. I realized my whole life revolved around it.
Are you struggling to quit smoking weed/marijuana? Or maybe you’re wondering why it’s such a big deal to some people in the first place. This unique perspective on one woman’s journey to quit her dependence on marijuana takes a nuanced, balanced approach to an often misunderstood issue. my ‘safe’ drug Ah, marijuana. Everyone’s favorite gateway drug. It’s relaxing, ups your appetite, and is…

From three in the mornin till my roommate left at seven, I've been throwin up, as I lay down in the bottom of the tub, sufferin in the shower and would turn on the hot water to help and then pour cold water on my head to “equal” it out.
So happy that the water heater is really fast, since I'd use all the hot water and turn it off when it got too cold and would try to sleep a little bit in the tub as the heater goes off in the bathroom.
Literally a full imagine of me, sufferin in the bottom of the tub, just wantin to sleep or at least just die in my sleep.
Tumblr media
I'd throw up whatever is in my stomach and blood till my throat got soar from throwin up for literally four hours.
THAT'S not the last of my physical health problems, but it's sure as fuck the worst out of what I have to deal with. (But that's for another post and I'm already so drained from today and all of this week of what has happened. Scratch that. Make it the past two fuckin years.)

1 month sober! 🫶🏼🥹 Im so proud of myself!
I got diagnosed with CHS (cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome) and let me tell you that pain is no joke 🥲 It took 2 years+ of pain and nausea episodes almost MONTHLY and my longest episode lasted 10 days 🥵 to finally accept my doctors who were telling me I had CHS.. I was in disbelief that weed was causing the pain/nausea but after a month sober and month without an episode I feel great! Mentally and physically I feel so proud of myself! 💘 CBD can also cause CHS because its from the build up of cannabinoids that block receptors in your brain that control your digestive system! It is rare but it is very real! 🥲

The Ups & Downs of Navigating Herbal Medicine and Allergies
Allergies, herbal medicine, and THC - oh my! Join me as I document my journey to find the right balance and help others going through the same thing. #herbalmedicine #allergies #THC #healthjourney 🌿💊🤢
Read about Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) HERE. As a supporter of herbal medicine and a believer in its healing powers, I have been using it alongside prescribed medication to help me navigate my empathetic healer’s life. However, my luv for herbal medicine has been causing me some trouble lately. It turns out that it’s reacting with gluten and/or wheat, causing hiked up histamine and a…

What's your take on cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome? I had no idea it was a thing until today and there doesn't seem to be a ton known about it for sure yet
Oh, it's definitely a thing. We don't know a ton about it, but it makes sense--it's like hyperesthesia in opioid use. If you're regularly and heavily using something that pushes your system in one direction, your system will try to push back. Endocannabinoids and exogenous cannabinoids are suppressing nausea; if your body says "oh shit we need that signal, it's important for survival," it will generate more of the nausea (or, with opioids, more of the pain). We may not know the exact mechanisms well yet, but we know the theoretical underpinning, and it seems sound. I've seen it fairly frequently in the hospital and less often in outpatient clinic. Hot showers help (probably something to do with capillary vasodilation) and so does applying a capsaicin cream to the trunk (same reason, whatever it is). But far and away the best treatment is quitting weed and letting your body reestablish homeostasis. I bridge people over that hump, when they take away the anti-nausea thing and the body's ramped-up nausea response is at its worst, with Zofran (ondansetron), a highly effective anti-emetic. Sometimes throw some Reglan in there because it's a different one (same risk--prolonged QTc--so rotate, don't stack) and more sedating.
