Okay, hear me out.

We know almost nothing about Mayoi's family, right? And there's almost no men in the Love Live! universe, right? I have a theory.

Eli and Nozomi married as adults and took on Eli's last name, Ayase (絢瀬). They had a child, Mayoi, but because he was a boy in the Love Live! universe he got banished from the realm and isekai'd to the Ensemble Stars! universe as a very young child. He was old enough to remember his name, but not how to write it in kanji. Hence why he has mistaken the first kanji in Ayase (礼瀬) and writes his given name in katakana.

He was also old enough to have a vague memory of his parents' singing and dancing as idols, which he doesn't recall very clearly anymore but set him on the path to become an idol himself. He also got Eli's focus and hard work, and Nozomi's weird and overly close friendly behaviour and looks. However, banished and alone in a strange world he became insecure and lonely. Still, because he was initially raised by loving and talented parents he is now slowly opening up and improving together with his new family in Alkaloid. 💖

for the sake of this ask we're ignoring the language barrier; Mabel borrowed some translator thing from Ford so they can talk to each other, it's fine.

Mob is friends with Tome, so he's used to hanging out with Weird Girls who talk a mile a minute, so even though Mabel would be a little overwhelming at first I think they'd be able to settle into a good dynamic! Mabel simultaneously would and wouldn't make a big deal about his psychic powers. Like, she'd get super excited about them but she gets super excited about everything so she'd be like "Oh WOW you have psychic powers?? That's so cool! I have a pig!! Do you want to meet him??"

Also they both love fluffy sweaters!! She could teach him how to knit! He'd be very bad at it at first but he's very stubborn and she's very encouraging and he'd end up having a really good time!
